He was being snarky on purpose, because this was just as fun as the guessing game was. And Chance was nothing if not a fan of games - though to be fair, he was more a fan of playing them than actually winning. It was the process that he found the most interesting, less so the outcome.
Of course, this process involved getting dunked under the water as Claude leapt at him. Chance had a split second to let out a yell of amusement before he was down, his hands grappling for Claude's arms.
A second later, his head popped up above the surface again; they were close to the beach, which meant all he had to do was drag himself forward on his stomach a few feet and he was in no real danger of drowning.
"You little ********," Chance said with a laugh. He reached for her shirt and yanked. "Get over here so I can get you back for that."

For a moment he just looked at her, half doused in shadows from the lack of lighting, half draped in moon and starlight. Chance's face was as calm and relaxed as ever, unreadable except for a hint of amusement at the corners of his mouth and the glint in his eyes.
"Well," he said, "My door is always open, you know that. And if you're not doing anything after this, I could do something like that again once we get back."
The adrenaline from earlier had mostly faded away, but it didn't mean that the interest to continue something that had felt good was gone.

the answer is...
He'd had his hands in his pockets as they'd walked, humming a little tune where Claude was silent. The portal was just ahead, within the dark alleyway, but Chance slowed his steps as she did, turning to look at her.
"Sure," he said lightly. "Got an idea?"

Claude would have done it just to have done it, but hey, trades were always nice. She tilted her head at the offer of stars, and seemed thoughtful for a moment. Learning stars from someone who was an enthusiast seemed pleasant enough.
"French for stars." Claude agreed, and then held out her hand to seal the deal.

looking up restaurants makes me hungry
Claude rested her head in her hand and stared back at him with a lidded gaze. Her lips pulled into a half-smirk. "So you think, mn?" She let out a soft mock sigh. "You've figured me all out, Chance."
Jerking a bit as Chance's foot found her side, she grabbed his ankle again and held onto it. When the menu was tossed her way, Claude sat up straight again and took a moment to glance at the menu.
"Creme Brulee." She informed him, and then proceeded to tell that to the waiter when he returned to collect their dishes.

Claude was rather pleased with herself to get him to laugh like that. "Just modest." She drawled, which was a lie, as her hand reached up to pinch his chin between her thumb and forefinger. "So pleased I'm worthy enough to be kept around." She pinched him harder before letting go.
She then proceeded to golf clap like she was at a tournament for Chance every time his ball bounced off the windmill.

Claude's head popped back up seconds later, and she settled on her knees. Her hands reached up to push her hair away from her face, and while she was entirely soaked now...at least the sand was gone. The young woman was jerked forward when Chance grabbed her shirt, and she came closer and fell into the sand on her side. She propped her head up with her hand and stared at him.
"You made my panties wet."

Ah, yes...she hadn't forgotten that the 'door was always open', but this had been something of a different door. An intensity she was the utmost curious about. An intensity she definitely hoped to see again if he really did show her the Draco constellation in the Northern hemisphere.
Claude looked at him over her shoulder as she started to make her way back towards the city. "Could you?" She echoed.

the answer is... She nodded her head. Actually, she had an idea since the 'game' first started. She felt pretty confident about it, but in light of what happened on the beach, a new idea came to mind. It was so simple and obvious, she almost felt like it was cheating, but on the other hand, there was something nice in the simplicity of it. "A starless night."

"Yes, totally, I've figured you out entirely," Chance deadpanned as she grabbed his ankle to stop him from moving. He was smirking at her now, glad of the fact that they could banter around like this. Interaction was always a curious thing to him; the more he found a person interesting, the more curious it became. And Claude fell into the category of "people he didn't mind spending a great deal of time with."
"Make that two," Chance told the waiter, smiling beatifically at him.

He took the opportunity to pinch her side as she pinched his chin, making a face at her.
"Yes, feel pleased with yourself, you a**," said Chance with a smile, and pushed her a little as she let go. The windmill was more effort than he'd really thought it would be, and he finally wound up picking up the ball and just walking it over to the hole and dropping it in.
"Score."

Drenched, but not shivering, Chance shook his head back and forth, spraying water everywhere. His curls stuck damply to the side of his face, and he was on his hands and knees when Claude collapsed beside him. Spitting salt water onto the beach, he almost didn't hear what she was saying.
Then he turned to look at her, eyes widening a little as a smirk crossed his face. Reaching out, Chance pushed her shoulder hard.
"Wouldn't be the first time I've heard that from you," he stage whispered, and burst out laughing.

He let out a little whistle, taking a few steps towards the town and giving a little laugh.

the answer is...
He had started walking forward again, but stopped when she spoke, the words hanging in the air. For a moment, Chance didn't say anything at all, his back to Claude, half draped in shadows so that it was difficult to make much out other than his silhouette.
Then he straightened and slowly turned around, and there was a faint smile on his face, oddly thoughtful.
"Ding, ding, ding," he said lightly and extended both arms out to either side, giving a small bow. "Congratulations, Captain Claude, you've won the game. Now, what would you like as your prize?"
