Only thirty minutes has passed since you noticed you were feeling a little bit more tired, and the feeling hasn’t faded - in fact, for some, it's even gotten worse. Maybe you should take a seat, or even head out to get some fresh, cool evening air. In fact...cool air seems like a really good idea. Unfortunately, it seems like you aren't going to be making it anywhere. You find you consciousness slipping from you and you are out before you hit the floor.

Hotel staff response is immediate and the affected parties are quickly tended to. There is a nurse station on each floor and such antics were expected. It is new years eve and people can get a little wild.

Negaversers, it seems like the party has really started! Time to show off your acting skill and keep the crowds calm. Do not allow anyone to actually leave the party. Distract and redirect.

Everyone with an ORANGE mask has fainted. You are gathered up and moved to the nurse's stations, where your mask is removed and replaced. When you awaken you are informed your fainting spell was caused by alcohol consumption if you were drinking, or overheating if you were not. It is suggested you sit for a few minutes before return to the ball. While resting you notice your mask feels different, but upon inspection it looks like the same mask. Maybe you're imagining things....

If you are a guardian cat with an orange mask, you have been mysteriously ejected from the event! Brrrr, it's cold outside! Before you awake, you swear you hear someone mutter something about "pesky cats." Maybe you should sneak back in...

*If you have passed out this round, you no longer possess an energy draining mask and cannot pass out again. You are tired, but you will not lose anymore energy. Anyone joining in after this point who rolls the color orange color IS being drained and can still pass out!*

Time seemed to pass even more slowly when one was idling without any specific aim in mind. Hafwen set the emptied glass on a nearby table, barely managing to stifle a yawn as she glanced up at the clock to see that it was only 9 pm at the moment. Strange. She wasn't usually this tired until an hour or so later. Perhaps juggling the double life that she had on top of being in a relationship with Darren were starting to get to her. And speaking of said boyfriend, this situation was also partially his fault since he had to catch a nasty head-cold from goodness knew where and had been literally bed bound for the past week as a result.

She didn't have much time to dwell on that particular train of thought though when someone who had come up next to her cleared his throat lightly before going on to initiate a conversation. A guy decked in a green tuxedo and an orange domino mask. Turning to look at him, she gave a frown. Was he trying to be friendly or was this going to lead to him making a pass at her subsequently? In any case, she didn't see any harm in making it known that his intrusion was totally unwelcome.

"So? I don't see how this is supposed to be any concern of yours."

He won't bite.

Faust immediately shot a glare at Quenton from over the girl's shoulder, but offered no indication beyond it that he understood the blonde's speech. He only trilled again near her ear, offering a purr for all the trouble she's already endured by Quenton's awkward manner and Faust's forward displays for getting closer to her. However, from where he was situated just behind her head, he felt no evidence of the potential to become a sailor senshi. While still just out of her view, he offered Quenton a shake of his head to indicate the need of moving on.

There were far too many people to check out before the night was over, and surprisingly, Faust was feeling quite tired. It felt as though they had just arrived...

While he was tempted to try climbing toward the girl's chest on Quenton's cue, he figured that might be a little too smart for a regular house cat in a tie. Instead he sat upon her shoulder as regally as he could manage and settled for taking a quick bathe to let off some of the heat that bore down on him from the overhead lights. It felt good, at least, to get a little airflow.

And finally, when it came time to play sack of flour in being held by Chailee, Faust slipped clean off her shoulder and hit the floor with a loud thump, stirring activity of those nearby. Bodies twisted and surged, both to get away and to come closer, and with the rustle of multicolored fabrics passing over the prone cat and elbows budging away those he had just visited with, the feline lump strangely vanished - taken away by those who stirred in commotion just moments before.

When Faust regained consciousness, he no longer felt the oppressive heat of the ball room. "The hell...?" He muttered in a groan. Finally he got up from the grassy landscape where he was somehow discarded, and shook out some of his fur. Huffing softly, he took stock of his surroundings - and from the dimmed din of the party, he knew he must've been close by. Probably just outside, by the view he stole from the window.

However, he wasn't the only cat booted from the ballroom.

"Sheeit," he cursed quietly. Faust trotted toward another form, legs heavy as lead from exhaustion, and quickly nudged the cream-colored cat bearing a forehead star with his paw. "Yo, you kosher?"

So it seemed he wasn't the only one with this idea.

Merric smirked under his mask. Ah yes, now the idea of what was going on came to him. He watched as the party goers grew tired, some seating and some simply pushing through it. He was not feeling it, which meant his mask wasn't one of the drainers. Wonderful. It was slow and quiet, and hopefully no one would notice. Sometimes one just had too much fun, you know.

It had been a tiring year, all things concidered. People would nurse their drinks too much, lose themselves too far, and they'd go home exhausted and unawares. A win for the Negaverse, yes.

His eyes flickered to his sister in her green dress and green mask. The young girl was trying to beat some boy at one of those party games. She yawned, rubbing an eye under her mask. His expression faltered for a moment.

They were draining her too.

No, she'd be fine. He'd keep an eye on her and the kids and she'd be fine.

---

Jenn was tired. She wasn't sleepy so much as it felt like she'd run the mile today. She hadn't even had school! It was incredibly pesky and unfitting for a princess. So was losing to a boy.

"No fair you cheated!" she demanded, looking over at the boy next to her. He blinked at her before slumping over. Jenn gasped and tried to wake him up. After the fourth shake, she turned to her brother and screamed for help.

Which had the desire effect of bringing Merric over plus at least four nurses. One hushed her rather rudely, telling her to calm down, the boy just passed out after all. Probably didn't have enough food or water. The girl pouted and huffed, sniffling with the start of a tantrum. Merric, seeing this, took her aside and sat her down.

"What was I supposed to do!?" she asked him, throat getting all closed and tight like it did when she cried. He gently patted her head, lifting the mask from her face briefly.

"Next time, don't panic so much. Come find me or an adult, but don't scream. You'll start a panic with the rest of the guests and we'll have to go home early," he told her. She grumbled, huffing again, but did not cry. She muttered something at him and disappeared into the rest of the ballrooms.

So much for keeping an eye on her...

Bent over to check the stock of games, Matthew had paid less than zero attention to the people around him. What did he care what they were doing? The only reason he was here was because the games were here... hanging out with a bunch of kids was really not his idea of a fun night. Having his head down meant he missed someone coming up to him and the sudden voice to the side pulled his head up, magenta-tipped bangs falling into green eyes.

"Oh, hey..." He said as he rocked back onto his heels, elbows braced on his thighs. He gave the newcomer a bit of a once over, tracing him from hair to shoes. He didn't look any more comfortable here than Matthew was, but at least Matthew had clothes that felt halfway decent on him.

Holding up a pair of games, he shrugged loosely.

"We've got Half-Life two, Grand Theft Auto four and probably some others... but if you wanna play with me, you're going to lose." He said with a cocky grin. "I always win. Guaranteed."

Not to mention this guy looked like he hadn't gotten his nap today... and he had a pretty good idea why. Whipping his a** at one of these games was going to be a cake walk.

"Maybe we should sit down and digest for a little while," Laney suggested, picking out two nearby empty seats and going over to claim them. "I think we were probably just overambitious."

That was a nice thought, except that, nearby, there were a few thuds in slow succession that sounded like bodies hitting the floor -- because a few bodies had hit the floor. Where the two of them had felt oddly tired, other people had apparently succumbed more fully, and were now passed out.

"Food... poisoning... ?" she said dubiously, not holding out much hope on that score. "Or, uh... Legionnaire's Disease?"

She scanned the room, looking for signs of a gas leak or something similar -- something dangerous in the mundane way rather than the not-so-mundane way. Then again, it did feel uncomfortably hot inside... maybe it was just that the HVAC system wasn't functioning properly. "Does it feel like the air's out, to you? Maybe we just need to go to a different floor, people could just be overheating down here."

====================

Lazarus was reasonably tall in bare feet, and Stroud was very; in bare feet, they were nearly of a height. Tonight, she was in heels, and he in platforms with lace-up spats, and he was fairly certain that she'd measured each of these variables to the end result of having them lined up to picture-perfect exactly matching heights (minus her hat).

The woman in red standing in front of them was definitely not the same height as Lazarus.

Under normal circumstances, she would've been tall and statuesque. In the heels she was currently wearing, the woman was absolutely towering. Head to toe, she had Amazoness written all over her. More critically, though, she'd made an absolute beeline for Stroud with her date in tow the moment she'd spied them. On the strength of that fact alone, he disliked her instantly.

Her companion was a little more of a mystery. She was there, she was quiet, and she was impeccably dressed in the manner of a person who had a "personal style," rather than the sort of person who wore whatever department stores or fashion magazines declared was current and fancy -- slightly retro, like a young twenty-something with a Pinterest account and too much money. Lazarus found her expression hard to read.

The taller one had the stronger personality, so -- having been told to make some sort of introduction for himself, Lazarus stepped over to her first.

This part came eerily naturally -- the hallmark, as he understood it, of a person who at one time had been handsomely paid to flirt on a professional level. "A pleasure," he greeted the woman Stroud had indicated as Ariel, raising her knuckles politely to his lips, all casual smiles and unhesitant eye contact meant mostly to make a stranger feel at east and comfortable rather than battering them clumsily in the face with the flirt baton. The actual reality, in his experience, was that not flirting worked a lot better with most people than flirting did; a friendly, outgoing demeanor was the most useful mask to cultivate.

"Also a pleasure," he said to the unnamed companion, offering her the same general interaction. Pleasant, friendly, not necessarily that interested in anything more. "I hope you're both joining us for drinks and dancing inside?" he added, without any more flourish than that.

If the verisimilitude of this little bit of social theater was marred by anything, it wasn't the performance itself -- being friendly to strangers was something he had infinitely more skill at that he had memory of use. It was the fact that, after it was done, he went straight back to Stroud's side, all expression gone again from his face, and commenced blandly staring at her with his full attention as though the other people in the room had momentarily stopped existing.

He'd only been told to make introductions -- so he'd done that. While he understood that he'd ultimately be expected to be able to self-manage his activities, tonight he was supposed to be demonstrating obedience and good behavior first, not improvisation. Sure, she'd said he could go off on his own if he wanted to once they were inside, but there was no guarantee that the decision itself wasn't also some kind of test, for which he'd be penalized if he chose to stray from her side. Lazarus didn't want to go off-script and try to make friends. He just wanted to do what he was told and behave himself and earn the privilege of leaving the apartment unescorted, like he'd been promised. Nothing else was very important.

Winterlynn could remember getting tired, so very tired, and deciding it was due to drinking and the heat caused by the press of bodies around her. She was sure that wandering outside would be a good idea, fresh air and the ability to cool off sounded like a very good idea at the moment, more than good really.

She'd gotten up from her seat, the room spinning just a bit, as the dark haired girl headed for the door she found the ground coming up to greet her, all rather suddenly also. "O! No ... da?" The slurred Russian words passed her lips right before everything went dark and whether she hit the ground or not she didn't know, wasn't aware, as she was unconscious now.

(Anyone who wants to have seen this can, just quote me. ^__^ Or if anyone wants to wake up and see her waking up/in the process of coming around at the nurses station on the first floor.)

Alright, so he was a bit late to the party, but there was nothing wrong with a little fashionable lateness with an event like this, was there? This kind of party wasn't a strictly punctual come-at-this-time-or-you're-turned-away, after all. It was too relaxed for that, even with the more formal atmosphere of the first ballroom compared to the others.

Joseph considered moving into the first ballroom to scope things out, then nearly changed his mind to the third instead since it was apparently where the real party was. He hesitated, torn between the two options available and almost (almost!) considering turning around and leaving instead. There was so much he could get done on his bike if he went home to work on her...

Finally, throwing indecision to the wind, he went with his original decision and entered the first ballroom. There was no reason why he couldn't go to the more interesting (to his mind) party after having a look around in here.

Joseph's mask is PINK and he dearly wishes he could change it. This random assignation is unfair to redheads!

Evren kept a wary smile on. "Yes, maybe we should take a break... dancing takes a lot more out of you than I thought..." As Evren followed him to the punch bowl she noticed that she was feeling more tired than before. She heard about some people had passed out and with that she tugged on the back of his tuxedo slightly.

"Um can we sit down after we get the punch. This talk of people fainting is kinda scary... I know it’s silly of me being scared of something like this but I'd rather not be alone if something like that happens to me..." She rubbed her eyes a little. Even though she was just chalking it up to her being tired Evren really was scared of passing out... after all... ah no need to think about that now.

((OOC throwing in Snowball, Azzo, and Istas in that order for Rolls Sable is black mask defaulted.))

Snowball's tail flickered as he sat on Azzo's shoulder he had to talk the Knight into attending the civilian party. Despite not having a date, well a human date. "Come on Aurora would want you to enjoy this." Snowball whispered into Azzo's ears once they were clear of the door after they had their masks. He was dressed in a little caplet and hat to match Azzo's outfit just so he could fit in a little more than just with his glittery jewels.

Azzo sighed, "Really I don't see why this is a good idea." He whispered as he looked around almost in an unhappy state reminded he was alone on new years. "I could've just stayed home and talked to Aurora when the new year came in." He muttered as he wandered around being mindful to skirt couples.

His blue mask went decently since the outfit he'd grabbed was fairly a large amount of black, Snowball though he had to grab from a puppet thankfully he had some large enough for the cat. "Just- - don't get separated from me okay? This is a large crowd you'll be picked up by who knows what." He didn't want to bail Snowball out of kitty jail.

Istas had come with her parents to the ball and got a lovely pink mask. She was delighted and grinned as she donned it for her parents before heading off to wander. "I'll be good okay! I'm sure there's a game room or something for us kids." She nodded as she walked off and her parents waved softly reminding her if she needed them she had her phone.

Sable sighed as she adjusted her mask walking in, her heels clicked on the floor and she looked fairly unamused at the amount of people. Granted she was searching for someone and it made that difficult to do with so many people. "Now, where is he?"

Ooooh. He was one of those she needed to be less out there with. She kept her bright smile, though she took a step away to give him a little more room to breath. "Yup. The music downstairs isn't really to my taste. Hoping I run across friends, too, and I'm certainly not gonna find 'em where the music's slow." She giggled. "Chiku. You?"

"I suppose that it is!" Silas. Not a name she recognized, but he seemed nice enough. She curtsied, the motion followed shortly by her introduction. "Kaida. A pleasure to meet you, Silas." She came back up, smile calm. "Hoping to find a dance partner, I'm guessing?"

Bailey blinked, but let Daniel move off, smiling when she saw where he was going. Oh good! Daniel was being friendly! That was an improvement! When the blue-haired boy [she was sure she'd seen that shade before] looked over, she waved, cheerful as ever. [A little tired, but hey, it was a party! And there were a lot of people...]

Of course, she also didn't expect to pass out. She heard her older brother make a noise of panic as consciousness fled her, the girl hitting the floor before he could get there. Luckily, medical staff on site seemed to be quick to gather her.

Daniel smiled a bit softly to Owen, taking his hand slowly.

"You can play with nus. I promise. Bailey is vbery nice and friendly." He soothed.

And then she seemed to faint. Daniel blinked, and suddenly the horrors from his nightmares seemed to just flash in his eyes, and...

Well, he whimpered faintly, trembling and clinging to Owen. Almary - Almary wasn't there but Owen seemed smart and nice and - and forget dignity.

Sad brown eyes turned to Owen and dignity flew out the window as he hiccoughed, starting to cry.

"W..What j..just happened to her?!" He asked. He was far from accusing, but with no adult he knew to cling to, he needed someone unrelated, and Owen worked, Daniel keening softly. "P..Please!"

The staff moved, but Daniel was, well, frightened.

Emily glanced when a red head caught her eye entering the ballroom as she nibbled marshmallow dipped in the fountain. Although still tired she ignored it easily, well used to the effort of a hot kitchen, and blinked.

Oh no.

Oh not the cute guy from the coffee shop. Emily suddenly slunk down a bit against Andrew, and swallowed a chocomallow before dunking a few graham crackers, suddenly eating anxiously.

Oh nio they were in the same room the world was going to end in some stupid phrasing. That was it, she was dying of embarressment wasn't she? Her poor Daddy was gedtting a card with condolences and he was going to cry all because cute boys and OH GOD SHE WAS GOING TO DIE OF EMBARRASSMENT.

Rolling over, Fiona felt the weight of her hand hanging off the edge of a bed effectively startling her awake. White walls with curtain separators greeted her bleary eyes as she tried to discern where exactly she was. Wh-where am I?" She asked still groggy from sleep. The last thing she remembered was crossing the ballroom floor towards the elevator and pressing the up button to go to her room.

The sound of a whispered mummer drew the 'nurses' attention from their task at hand. "You might not want to move around too much, you hit your head pretty good." Normal every day noises sounded far louder than they otherwise would as the woman crossed the vinyl flooring with heeled shoes. "One of the hotel staff found you passed out over by the elevators. Here..."

Fiona groaned as a cold ice pack was pressed against a rather tender spot on the side of her head. Without thinking she raised one hand to hold the compress in place.

"You probably just got over heated, nothing to worry about." Seconds felt like minutes before Fiona heard the sound of glass being set down on the bedside table. The older woman seemed helpful and kind almost motherly in a way; then again perhaps she was just very good at her job and putting others at ease. "Here's some water, If you need me I'll be outside." She said softly, to which the blue-net nodded her head slowly.

As she lay there, the world around her swayed like a small boat left to the oceans wrath and so Fiona allowed sleep to reclaim her, at least till her alarm went off or her boyfriend called.

Alright alright! Benji was already enjoying the company of this kid even if they had hardly said a paragraph to one another. He LOVED a challenge. And what more was a challenge that he knew would be a challange. But that was only because he was a disadvantage. There was something about this place that made him feel so tired that he couldn't quite place it. Like when someone was using a smoke machine too long or walking through a thick fog. In the end, it was no different than any of those other all nighters he had pulled. Just feeling a little tired but not enough to not want to kick someone's a** at games.

"Let's do GTA. You can think all you want that you're gonna win, but I'mma hand yer a** to you faster than you can say 'mercy!'." He snatched the game away from Matthew and shoved it into the console with all the grace of a galloping gorilla and the flopped on his bum in front of the television. Chairs just ruined his game style anyway.

"My name is Benji by the way. Just want you to know the name of the king around here. Ya here on your own or are ya here because your parents dragged ya?"

Anxo truly, truly wasn't one for drinking. Something about the smell and the taste and the reminds of too much Nyquil as a kid made him nearly a hundred percent against the stuff. Despite as unappealing as that seemed the rest of the party was spectacular! And the DANCING and the LIGHTS and the MUSIC was all so out there and fantastic that even as he seemed to feel more and more tired he couldn't stop himself from dancing around and acting like a dancing fool in during the party.

But even he in all his distracted glory couldn't let the fact that this poor woman nearby had seemingly passed out on the ground. He wasn't the first person to respond; the sea of people between him and her was just too much, but she didn't seem to be with anyone else. In that moment he decided he needed to, by civic responsibility, make sure that she was alright and didn't loose anything. And something felt off about himself too so a breath of fresh air or at least air that wasn't' in this room would probably do him some good.

It took a moment or two to reorient himself and then make his way to the infirmary. After asking around a bit he found her and sat down until she woke again.

"Miss, Miss, are you alright?"

Fritz St. James / Celsus Knight of Chronos - Purple Mask

He put a hand to his chest as though to say who, me? but gave Delilah a wide smile as she accepted his arm, her hand resting on the crook of his elbow. Fritz laid his own gloved one atop of hers and then they were walking around, his eyes moving restlessly around the room still.

"I've only waltzed twice in my life," he said with a laugh. "Bit of an annoyance to Mum and Dad when I was growing up, they were all about the traditional dances. But I do like dancing, I just like to think that I am possibly all left feet when it comes to grace and poise on the dance floor."

His head slanted towards her, a look of amusement barely visible beneath the mask on Fritz's face. "You aren't boring yet," he told her, a grin tugging at his lips. "Quite the opposite, I think. Besides, I have a lovely, engaging woman on my arm, that in and of itself is delightful."

Red eyebrows rose, but they were hidden behind the fringe of bangs falling across Fritz's forehead. Delilah was so far very good company, and he was finding her easy to talk to. "Deal," he told her. "We can play twenty questions..."

But his voice trailed off a little, Fritz faltering in his steps. He took a breath, as though to steady himself, glancing about the room before he looked back at Delilah, trying to give her a smile - but he felt strangely tired, his body sluggish.

"Bit hot in here, isn't it?" he asked, lifting his free hand to swipe at his forehead.

Tolliver St. James - Black Mask

A grumble of annoyance escaped his throat as he struggled back to upright. Dark red hair was pushed out of Tolliver's face and he turned to look at the person he'd so unceremoniously toppled over.

They were unfamiliar (unsurprising, considering that the total number of people that Tolliver actually talked to was countable on one hand), with dark hair - and yet in spite of a younger face, there were white streaks woven throughout the black.

The stranger was given a flat look that bordered on rude, but it was less out of actual annoyance and more out of curiosity, though he wasn't exactly good at expressing this. Tolliver pushed his fringe out of his eyes, both hands resting on the top of his cane.

"...I'm okay," he said, after a moment, though his bad leg was throbbing a little. A wave of tiredness seemed to wash over him, and his eyes fluttered, Tolliver giving his head a small shake as though trying to clear it.

"...did I step on your foot or anything?" he asked, slightly embarrassed, after a second. "I'm still, er...getting used to walking with this bloody thing," he added, indicating the cane.

Magiore Carpenter / Lieutenant Aurostibite - Blue Mask

He moved quietly throughout the room, idly checking his watch every few minutes; it was an engraved silver thing (also a family heirloom) that hung on a chain from his breast pocket to his waist, and it gave him a very pleasant sense of elegance and confidence.

Magiore passed over the floor, but it was strange; there were several people that seemed oddly ill at ease, some of swaying a little, some of them sitting down and looking terribly exhausted. He pushed the mask a little more firmly onto his face and slowed his steps as he came nearer to a table in particular.

A young man sat there, bent over with his head in his hands. Magiore frowned.

    "Are you all right?"
