Rezo's trepidation grew to outright horror. "No!" He turned to run away, but there was Xellra blocking his path. "No! You can't do this! Xelloss! Stop! I command you to stop!" He was no longer imperious, only shrill and frightened now. His vision! He had not been able to see for most of his life, only gaining his vision through a hypnotic ceremony that made him into the leader of the mazoku. All of his life he had sought his vision. All of his life he had despaired in darkness.
"No!" he screamed as he was knocked to the ground. "No!" he cried one last time, piteously. The vicious delight of the young mazoku members was the last sight he ever would see. Xelloss stood to one side and watched with the smile of a hungry shark on his face. Ruby Eyes was no more. Instead rose he, Greater Beast Xelloss, a new lord of the mazoku and servant to no one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Xelloss stood before the other mazoku lords, Beastmaster and Hellmaster. Behind and beside him were his children, his grandchildren, his servants. He didn't bow in greeting to the lords, now he held himself as one of them. He had actions to explain, and knew that in this case, truth was of absolute necessity.
"Ruby Eyes Rezo was a fraud," he said, treating the name with just as much distaste as he felt. He could feel their attention upon him, as well as the attention of his servants behind him. "He was nothing more than a deluded unicorn, and his defeat proves that." Xelloss thought back to Rezo's actions during the games. Those were not the actions of a dark lord. "He could hardly even stomach the killings needed to train the young mazoku. Ruby Eyes would have delighted in it." Xelloss had no doubt of that. Any true being possessed by the spirit of Ruby Eyes would have called for even a more bountiful slaughter.
"So I arranged his disposal. The mazoku will be tainted no more by his false leadership."
He took a breath. He was calm, confident. This was his place. "With driving off Rezo, I take my place as a mazoku lord. My lord name is Greater Beast, and I take those that are mine to be my servants." The name he chose for himself was out of respect for his origins. Lord Beastmaster had shaped him, but he had grown beyond what could be contained in her grasp. He stood as her peer now, not as her servant.

Phibrizzo listened to Xelloss's words with complete and utter calm. He had returned not long after Rezo's cries had rung throughout the jungle. It was unfortunate but Xelloss's words rung with a certain amount of truth. Phibrizzo had been blind to the truth out of the desire for their lord to be returned to them. What a pity that it hadn't truly worked.
"Greater Beast." Phibrizzo said clicking his tongue slightly with a glance to Xellas. Her former servant had made an interesting choice, that was to be certain. He no longer wished to be servant. Phibrizzo turned his gaze to the small army of Xelloss's descendents behind him. Already he had priests and generals to spare, while Xellas and himself were left with nothing. Xelloss had always been Xellas's only follower, she needed no others due to his strength. Phibrizzo's own had been destroyed some time ago. Xelloss had the biggest advantage over them, so who was Phibrizzo to challenge him here? He certainly had no intentions of ending up like Rezo.
"Well then, Lord Greater Beast, I trust that you will make good use of your new title." Phibrizzo nodded his head in recognition. He supposed a large portion of their recent success had been due to Xelloss and his brood. This was a small price to pay for such work. They were short three lords as it was anyway.

If Xellas was surprised, there was no evidence to betray it. She stood as if made out of shadow and stone. Greater Beast Xelloss. The name he chose for himself was in clear reference to her, as was appropriate in the general scheme of mazoku. Five mazoku lords there had originally been, declared as such by their long-dead ruler. Of those, one had turned traitor and two were missing. There was room for a fifth, though Xellas lost her most powerful servant in the making of it.
Lost a powerful servant, but gained a powerful ally. Xellas was ancient and wicked, but she was crafty and intelligent as well. She had already seen how powerful Xelloss grew when left to his own devices. It was easy to see that he would grow more powerful still if she did not thwart him now. He may no longer follow her orders, but he served a greater master, chaos itself. That was a solution she could accept.
"The Demon Dragon King is cast out," she growled, referencing the traitorous mazoku that had turned against them after their last great war. "You are now the fifth of us, Greater Beast." Her voice rumbled with what may have been amusement and what she never would admit was fondness.
Rezo was filth after all. This she had long suspected, but it had been Xelloss that had been the one to act upon it. He had earned his place among them.

And so it was done. He was accepted into his new position by those who served him, and he was accepted by the other mazoku lords as well. Now, there were some final orders of business.
"As Greater Beast, I declare two of my servants to be highest in rank." It had taken little thought to decide who to promote. Two of them had truly stood out in their participation in the games and before.
"Zelcion," he said, naming one of his sons. "You are the most clever, so you will be my priest. You will scheme and plot in my place when I am busy elsewhere." Zelcion had been the one to catch onto his plan in the games, and had shown himself elsewhere to be cunning. He would be rewarded for that.
He turned next to Tythoss. "Tythoss. You will be my general. You are truly heartless, to both family and foe." In the games, Tythoss had shown himself to be truly a creature without mercy and pity. He even would have allowed Zenoskelis to plunge to his doom to make the mazoku race stronger. "When I am absent, you will seek out our enemies and destroy them."
"The rest of you." He addressed the rest of the brood now. "When I am gone you will answer to Tythoss and Zelcion. Whatever you had before is gone. Now you will obey, or... else." He smiled, but there was no doubting the menace.

This was more than a bit of a surprise for Zelcion. After years of being used as basically bait for danger he was finally getting some recognition. He smiled, it was thin and somewhat dangerous but it was still a smile. "Very well." He said almost like it was some great burden rather than the gift that it was.
Zelcion was less pleased about his brother being made Xelloss's general but he couldn't argue with the logic behind it. Tythoss was heartless. He even snickered a bit over it. The rest of them, Xellra and Zelcion's own children, were more or less in the same position as they were before. They were simply under new management and with that would certainly come new rules. Xelloss would likely keep them under closer watch than the others ever had. That suited Zelcion fine, less chance of one of them doing something completely and utterly stupid.

Tythoss' head shot up in pleased surprise. General! General Tythoss! That had a lovely ring to it. He could feel himself puffing out with pride as well. Xelloss had noticed his skill and adherence to the mazoku custom of cruelty. He wasn't so sure about Zelcion's promotion. After all, he had weakly run after his son when he was about to go over the edge. Still, all the changes filled him with excitement. Things were going to be very different soon!
"I accept!" he said, smirking and looking over the others. Who were the other best fighters? He'd have to make sure to pull the best aside to work with him, rather than let Zelcion snatch them up. Liliel. Now she had potential...

"I am glad to see that we're all in agreement," said Xelloss.
And so it was that the kalona games ended. Lives were lost, lives were changed, but Xelloss thought that he was the real winner. He was now Greater Beast Xelloss, and he already had plans he wanted to set into motion...
