  Elena nearly screamed when the explosion went off, and Tate guarded her with his body. His arms braced around her, shielding her. Hearing him confirm that he wasn't sure, and that he was okay, Elena felt a great weight off her shoulders. She was fine, but she didn't respond as she was too shocked to even worry of her own safety. She was just glad that Tate was fine. Elena turned her head around, looking at the people who were just as shocked as Tate and Elena were. It seemed that no one got hurt. Matt was taking Bonnie away from the parking lot, massaging her back with his hand. He glanced back towards Elena, nodded his head, and brought Bonnie to his car. Facing Tate, she felt his palms caress her face, his eyes just as wide and worried as her's were. Elena's heart was racing because of the adrenaline. When he brought his lips to her forehead, Elena wrapped her arms under his for a hug, letting their bodies press tight together to assure her that they were both okay. They were right next to the car that went off. "C'mon. Let's go back to my place. Jeremy isn't there, and we can cool off there."

♣ Tate held on to Elena and made an 'mhm' sound when she suggested they go back to her place. That would be good for them. The past 24 hours have been traumatizing enough for them and now they had to add a car lighting on fire directly next to them. Maybe they wouldn't have died from that but you never know. Maybe Tate could have walked off from that with minor injuries because of how he could heal but Tate wasn't invincible and Elena was even worse. Through all of his worry, Tate realized that he and Elena were holding each other close while being half naked and soaking wet, not to mention that they were out in public. Tate awkwardly cleared his throat and released his arms from around Elena. " W-We should go" he said, trying to keep his voice leveled. He didn't want to seem too unkempt around Elena.
♣ When they got to Elena's house, Tate stood around awkwardly. " My pants are still a little wet and I don't want to sit down" he told her. He had put his shirt back on to save people from seeing him shirtless on the way to Elena's. But his shirt was pretty much dry enough to be comfortable in right now, Tate was just concerned about getting Elena's furniture wet. But he didn't want to ask to borrow another one of Jeremy's pants since the one he already used was still at him house, waiting to be washed. So Tate stood there, rubbing his arms. " Are you sure you're okay? I mean....between last night and today, it's been way too much" It was even taking a toll on Tate. He was tired, he just wanted to lay down and think about nothing. " Bonnie did that, right? Is she okay? Does she usually do stuff like that?" Tate was genuinely concerned for Elena's friend. He had to deal with Ash's power issues from time to time. Tate shook his head, grasping everything that happened. " Thank you" he said, realizing that he didn't even thank her for pulling him out of the way.

Elena had grabbed her things from earlier before returning back to her empty home. Jeremy wasn't home, but didn't prevent the gut feeling that something else was going to happen. It was as if whenever she and Tate were happy, something bad happens. Running a hand through her still damp hair, Elena heaved out a deep breath and turned to Tate. Not answering his first question, she replied to the second one regarding Bonnie. "I don't know what happened. She doesn't normally do this. Perhaps stress? I don't know. I'm gonna call her later." Walking towards the stairs that would bring her upstairs, Elena told Tate, "I'm gonna change real quick. Hang on." As she walked upstairs, still wearing the bathing suit top, she reached behind her and pulled on the string, letting it slowly become loose and easy to remove. She hadn't realize Tate was still in sight when she did this. When Elena walked into her room, she changed into a pair of jeans and a regular shirt. Sure, the day was almost over, but there was never a dull moment in she and Tate's lives. Descending down the stairs again, Elena smiled at Tate in a reassuring way. "We're fine, thank god. Funny how that happens right after our little teasing," said Elena with an amused chuckle as she walked to the kitchen, expecting Tate to follow.

♣ Elena's response about Bonnie was enough for Tate. She was Elena's best friend and she seemed really capable of her own powers when she had healed Elena. Maybe something just got to her. Tate let Elena go up the stairs to change without saying a word but his eyes surely popped out of his head when Elena pulled the string on her bikini. Did she know that he could see her? Tate craned his neck slightly to get as good of a look as possible before Elena was completely out of his sight. This all made Tate a bit nervous. They were alone in their house and a lot of sexual jokes had been passed around. He wouldn't mind getting physical with Elena but he didn't want it to happen like this. Yes, Tate has imagined how it would happened - he has imagined it very vividly. Tate paced back and forth a little to clear his mind until Elena came back down freshly dressed. " You know, I'm going to leave a book bag here with extra clothes. I practically live here anyway" he said as he followed her. It was true, it was like Elena's house was their favorite hang out. Tate hopped up on to Elena's kitchen counter and sat there, tapping his fingers. " Clearly, the car explosion was a sign." Tate was attempted to neutralize any suppressed sexual tension. " So within the past 24 hours you have discovered that my entire household is ******** weird, I've discovered that you're associated with vampires, hybrids, and a witch, and now we've nearly been lit on fire by an exploding car" Tate chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. " As soon as one thing happens, more things happen. It all started with that freaking Alpha nearly killing you"

All Elena's thoughts could think was of Bonnie and the car explosion. She hasn't been so careless with magic ever, not even when she was beginning to learn through the spells. Bonnie would mess up a few times, and accidentally spark a few plugs, but those were only unintentional. Nonetheless, that hadn't happened for months. Why now? Elena let her brows furrow together in pure confusion as she continued to ponder over the thoughts as she walked to her kitchen. She was too consumed with her thoughts to hear Tate and his comment towards him needing to bring a backpack of his own clothes to her place. In fact, she almost missed when he was bullet pointing the events that happened in the recent days. Elena opened the fridge and looked to Tate, catching him from when he discovered of her knowledge of the supernatural world. "I still don't know why that Alpha tried to kill me," confessed Elena as she shut the fridge, too distracted to even search for food. Casually, Elena walked to Tate, mesmerized by her thoughts to even gather what was happening now. That she was standing in her kitchen with Tate. Instead, she kept thinking of the bad things that happened over the course of the time. Lifting herself on the kitchen counter next to Tate, Elena let out a deep sigh. Her fingers twiddled with each other, her eyes resting on her hands. "Maybe it's me, y'know?" said Elena, looking to Tate. "I mean, it's all because I'm some doppelganger. Klaus hurting Bonnie and her mother, even if they didn't even know each other. My aunt Jenna, Jeremy wouldn't have had to move, Alaric wouldn't gotten severely injured. Alphas probably want to get to me for you, and Bonnie probably stressed because of Klaus. I mean, I'm better off dead." It was a dark thought, but Elena couldn't help it. After what seemed like bad luck happening to her, Elena felt as if she was the problem and that her gone would be the solution.

♣ Tate couldn't believe what he heard Elena saying. " No" he said, hopping off the counter and looking at Elena. " Don't ever say that, alright? Don't ever say that about yourself again. Ever" The serious demeanor returned to Tate's face once more as he looked at Elena. The boy stood directly in front of her, resting his hands on her thighs as he met her glance. " This is not your fault. There is no way in hell that all of this could be your fault. Those Alphas are just in town to turn a couple humans, probably kill them too. That's all you meant to them. Either a meal or a member" Tate didn't actually believe that werewolves ate people but he's honestly never seen it so who knows? It's not like he had a vast knowledge of werewolves outside of himself and his sister. He's experiences the post- change hunger, it wouldn't be too surprising if a werewolf or two managed to scarf down a whole person. But Tate didn't want to think of himself being capable of that. " I don't want you to ever say you're better off dead. I don't want you to think about dying. I don't want death to even be in your vocabulary. You know what death does to the people that remain alive. Do you want to be the cause of that? Elena, you'll cause more pain being dead than you would being alive" He was truly serious about all this. He wasn't going to pretend like Elena hadn't experienced her fair share of death, she was aware of what happens. But Tate couldn't stand to lose someone else in his life. Tate held on to Elena's face like he did earlier. It was like a reminder that she was there, that they were both real, and that they were really dealing with this. " We need to stop thinking of this stuff, okay? Please. You need to stop. I don't want these ideas running through your head, okay? There's no way in hell that all of this happening because of you"

Elena let out a deep, shuddered sigh when Tate sternly said no. It was wrong to think this way, and perhaps the whole car accident happened because Bonnie was distracted and did, in fact, get careless. But Elena just felt that ever since she discovered she was a doppelganger, she was a danger to everyone she loved. Even Tate. Elena didn't meet Tate's eyes when he hopped down off the counter and approached her with words and physically. His body drew closer as his palms rested on her thighs, and his words touched her heart. Elena still didn't dare to meet with Tate's dark eyes, afraid that she would be met with disappointment. Her lips parted to release a big sigh, her brows twitching together in worry. However, when Tate collected her face in his hands, Elena finally looked at him, and continued to listen to him express what he felt regarding her commenting that she's better off dead.
After Tate was finished, Elena reached her right hand up, and grasped his left wrist, stroking her thumb over the back of his hand. She sucked in her bottom lip, bit on it, and nodded her head. Elena felt that if she spoke any words now, her voice would just croak, and she'd still express the sorrow in her presence. Instead, she leaned into his left palm, glad of his gentle touch. No words slipped from her mouth yet, and she didn't dare to, as she turned her head in his left hand and placed a gentle kiss on his palm. "Okay," she whispered, looking to Tate. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she embraced him in a hug, even if she was still on the counter. "I'm sorry."
Elena slowly pulled away and let her hands drop from his shoulders and rest in her lap. "I just keep thinking that all this is because of me. Y'know? Like, if I could go back, and redo everything, I could. My aunt Jenna could be alive, and I could've done something, anything to save her." Elena let out another deep, heavy sigh before shaking her head. "I'm doing it again, I'm sorry."

♣ He was proud to have gotten through to Elena. He didn't know much about how her life was before they had met but he knew that nothing right now could be considered her fault. The Alphas are just being pains in the assess right now. Before, he had wanted them no where near his family. Now? He wanted them all gone - every last one of them. They put Elena in danger and he didn't like that one bit. He'd be up to personally kicking Alpha a** but he wasn't exactly strong enough to do that. They'd rip him apart. He felt that the only people who could have a fair chance in a fight with an alpha would be other alphas. Tate couldn't imagine loosing Elena, he didn't want her to imaging herself dying. He wanted to keep her here with him. He needed her to be happy. He thought that him not telling her that he was a werewolf would be beneficial to her but.... he felt like it was a good thing that she knew and that he knew about what she dealt with. Now he can really take as much pain away as possible for him to do. " How about this" he said, giving her a warm smile to try to ease the tension. " How about I take you out. We can get ice cream or something. Or even dinner. On me. We can ditch school again, we have a validated reason with witnesses. We were right next to that car, everyone around us could speak up for that. " Tate pressed his forehead against Elena's. " Just one more day. I can't let you be in a funky mood. We've got to perk you up"

Elena tightened her jaw as she looked down at her fiddling fingers on her lap. Her hair fell past her shoulders and hang in front of her torso. She was so tempted to just grab Tate now and kiss him. But she was afraid of the outcome. Though they were very friendly with each other, they still haven't expressed romance verbally. Sure, they say that they would be there for each other and that they love each other, but Elena always assumed that he meant in a friend way. Elena tucked her hair behind her ears with her hands before hearing Tate's options. Taking another day off from school would be great. Elena would greatly enjoy it. But she was worried what the teachers would say about her missing two days in a row. What would Alaric say about her missing his History class two days in a row. He would most definitely come over to the house. If he does, Elena could offer him a deal to live here that he cannot refuse. Alaric just felt that he couldn't live under the same roof that Jenna did and stay even after she died. But Tate's reason was good enough. Elena bit on her bottom lip, contemplating the option. Seeing that smile, though, was enough to make any girls do whatever he want. With a playful growl, Elena her hands to his face to cover that smile. When releasing his features, she told him, "That smile should be illegal." Tapping his chin briefly before letting her hands rest on her lap again, Elena let out a big, defeated sigh. "Alright. One more day. I swear, you'll be the reason why I'm such a 'bad girl'."

♣ Tate inaudibly grumbled as Elena covered his mouth with her hand. He wasn't really saying anything important, just making sounds to pretend like he was in a struggle against her hand. He couldn't believe that she's say that his smile should be illegal; it wasn't that good of a smile. Then again, sometimes Tate felt like his smile was his best feature since it showed off his dimples. He was lead to believe that girls dig dimples. But other girls weren't on his agenda anymore. His agenda was now strictly Elena. Tate rolled his eyes when she claimed that he'd be the reason for her to be considered a bad girl. " I'm a good influence! I thought I was a really good guy!" He held a hand to his chest as if he was actually shocked. " No wonder you stick around me, you're into bad boys" Tate grinned and sent a wink her way. " I think the school believes Kailan and I have some sort of chronic illness because we're absent whenever there's a full moon. Plus I make my brother call in whenever I'm really not feeling like attending school" Tate shrugged. He did fine in classes, he wasn't dumb, and he managed to catch up whenever he was absent so who was it really harming whenever Tate decided to take a break? " So what do you want to do now? Dinner? Ice cream? Sleepover? You name it. The rest of the day and tomorrow is strictly about relaxing and you" Meaning that he'd spend the whole time with her and only her if she wanted, all she had to do was ask.

Elena opened her jaw to mock Tate's conning innocence as if she didn't believe him, which she doesn't. She wasn't complaining. At his flirtatious wink, she let out a chuckle. he was awfully happy right now, after just nearly getting killed. Elena playfully groaned as she draped her arms lazily on his shoulders and embraced him in a big hug. "Why are you so amazing to me?" she asked with a smile. Rubbing his back in the hug, Elena soon released him. "How about this. We stay inside. You text Kailan to bring over sweat pants or whatever it is that you like to wear to sleep, and you stay the night. And we just munch on pizza and watch movies. Like when we had that movie night. Yes?" Elena spun Tate around to where his back was turned to her and she eased herself into his grip, holding onto him as he gave her a piggy back ride. "Now, take me upstairs, big guy, so I can change into.. well, not soaked clothes."

♣ It all sounded like a pretty good plan to Tate. Tate reached out behind him to grip Elena safely so he wouldn't drop her off his back. There was a moment where he debated where to put her hands but then ended up holding her up from her butt rather than her thighs. But he didn't say anything. If she didn't notice, he wouldn't call attention to it. Tate hoisted her up with a bounce and left the kitchen, taking her through to living room and up the stairs. " I rarely do this" he muttered. It wasn't like he was complaining, he liked being close and goofing around with Elena. Tate carried her up the stairs and straight into her room, dropping her on her bed. " M'lady" he said, turning to her and bowing as if she was royalty. Tate took the opportunity to get his cell phone out and text his sister to see if she could bring him a spare outfit, pajamas and anything else that he may need for the night. It wasn't a large list, he just wanted to make sure that there'd be no distractions from Elena. When he was done with his text message, Tate looked an Elena expectantly before remembering why he had brought her up here in the first place. " Oh. I'll, uh, I'll just step out for a minute so you can change"

Elena did notice his palms firmly on her butt to help him steady her on his back. She didn't say anything because if she made any form of joke or any sort of noise regarding where his hands were, he would probably lower them to her thighs. And she honestly didn't want that. Wrapping her arms around his shoulders, Elena leaned her head down to where it rested at the arch of his neck. She let out a soft happy squeal when Tate reached the stairs. She was impressed. He actually managed to carry her to her room without any complications at all. When seated on her bed carefully, Elena smiled and watched as Tate backed up a few paces to allow her some room if she wanted to get off of her bed. She did, and stood on her feet, looking over to Tate who was sending a text to someone, possibly Kailan since she suggested for him to ask her to bring over some clothes. However, when he was done texting, Elena walked up to Tate and grabbed his face and pulled him down to her, connecting their lips together. She inhaled sharply through her nose in the kiss, embracing his tender lips with her own. The exchange soon grew heated as they wrapped their arms around each other.
Elena was snapped from her daydream at the sound of Tate's voice saying he'll step out for her to change. The kiss never happened; it's what Elena wanted to happen. But, alas, didn't. "Right, right," she awkwardly said as she tucked some strands of hair behind her ear. She followed Tate to the door before closing it and pressing her back against the wood. Exhaling a deep breath, Elena moved forward to walk to her dresser. When she came out not too long after, she wore a tanktop and shorts. Stepping down the steps, Elena looked around for her friend. "Tate?"

♣ Tate left Elena's room so that she could change. He couldn't help but to roam around the house a bit while she was busy. Sometimes this would be all that Tate would do at home when he was bored. Walk from his room, to the kitchen and back to his room several times just because he had nothing else to do at the time. Tate had heard Elena coming long before she even got down the steps so he hid behind a corner. When he heard her call him name, Tate jumped out. " Boo!" he exclaimed before going into a fit of laughter. Yes, it was lame, but that was why he was laughing. " Did I get you?" he asked, grinning like a kid. If he had tried to pull something like this at home, Kailan would probably punch him, Ash would probably do some magic on him. It was safe to say that Elena couldn't do as much damage as his siblings. " I already ordered the pizza. Tonight, I pick the movies. And I say that we watch World War Z because we need to watch different genres to see what each other likes and dislikes" It was a valid excuse to watch a zombie flick. Tate stepped towards Elena, standing as close to her as possible without letting their bodies touch. " Do you have ice cream?" he asked, more intensely than he should have. He had an idea that he didn't want to tell Elena but he needed ice cream for it.

Elena glided her fingers along the railing of the stairs as she descended down the stair way. Her head spun around, looking for any signs of Tate. She knew that he wouldn't leave unless it for a serious matter, especially if he were to leave unannounced. Soon, Tate jumped out and scared her, which he succeeded because Elena let out a small scream. Placing a hand over her heart, Elena huffed out a deep, relieved sigh. Soon that was replaced with an amused smile. Lightly punching him, Elena informed him, "You scared me." As if that wasn't obvious. Hearing his comment regarding the movie he picked for tonight, Elena quirked an interested eyebrow. "Oh? Alright. But if I get scared, don't be surprised if I hide behind you," Elena joked. Soon, he had stepped close to her and asked if she had ice cream. Letting out a stifled laugh, Elena pointed to the kitchen and nodded. "Yeah, in the freezer." Stepping past him, she headed for the kitchen, knowing the blonde male would follow, and grabbed the vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Setting it on the counter, she looked at him. "Is this good?"
