“Not that sort of date.” Brishen denied seeing the eyebrow. “I would be writing you poetry… awful romantic sappy poetry.” And he would too. Poor blue with his oversized feet. He was either going to get huge, or be a clumsy little thing.

“They might actually have a higher survival rate because of this… though, it really doesn’t look good for Venk to keep his spot or for T’gall.” Everyone was going to know about the clutch. And all the healers were going to be over the hatchings.

"L'ris?" Shards. For a moment C'tis considered going after her and made to rise out of his seat; they might have broken one another's noses in excess of twenty times combined, duelled one another on occasion and been (almost) unforgivably poisonous on occasions but she was his friend shaffit.... And she wouldn't think him for running after her, probably. Anyway, somebody had to tell her how the rest of it had gone afterwards. Relaxing back into his chair, or trying to look like he was relaxing, C'tis puffed out his cheeks and looked down at the Sands again. Hu, was the dark blue going to the healers now? Could it be that his rider was an apprentice or young journeyman? If so tough s**t for that, that would seriously shaff up their career plans.

Private Eye sat back on her haunches and looked around again, apparently deeply dissatisfied with what she saw. The green stretched, then moved to intercept Listening - at least until she misjudged a dip in the sand, which sent her spilling over with an indignant squawk. It took her a moment to struggle back onto all three legs - something which she apparently found a little difficult.

she complained, giving up on going after the blue to trudge back towards him irritably.

< Deruvene, you seem distracted. This will not do as I need you to focus and feed me. > Ellioth prodded at Deru's mind as his hands became idle, the pieces of meat he was carefully cutting up into small portions no longer coming at a decent enough pace. < Do not worry over them, we shall meet them in time. >

"Sorry."

< Do not apologize, just feed me. > The dragonet opened her maw once more and Deru placed a piece of meat into it. She chewed about as much as a dragon could and swallowed, opening her mouth again. The process was repeated. < More are coming. I need to finish before they arrive, so as not to make trouble for them. > The green folded her wings, as they had spread slightly as she was eating, and moved to the side to make room as more of her siblings approached.

Deru looked at them and their riders....and then back to Ellioth. This was going to be awkward.

"It's alright, really," Vanavia said as she shook her hand a bit to get the blood flowing back. She could understand Aeglentine getting worried about the whole thing. Vanavia probably would have been too had she not been encouraged not to reveal such emotions. They were still there, she was still worried and scared for them and to see them hurt did sadden her, it just didn't seem to be effecting her the same way as it did Egg. It took all kinds though, so there was always that and she liked to think that her remaining calm was of some support to the girl. Somebody panicing certainly wouldn't be.

Smith seemed to be picking up on the girl's emotional state too. Picking himself up the young blue turned around to face the other girl. He took a few steps forward and hopped into her lap, bearing no consideration to her personal space at all, and whistled up to her. You seemed a little ruffled. Is everything okay?

"The blue's impressed, see?" Vanavia smiled, trying to reassure the girl ask Commander's eyes whirled a rainbow at the boy trying to help the other off the sands. He seemed all business though as he then marched off to deal with something else. "Look and she has too. The green's impressed!" Now she was grinning as the girl with the crippled leg seemed to pick out a lad and make her way towards him. We could ignore her attempt to intercept her brother and what that may have meant. The important thing is she had impressed!

"Haha Good! I'd hate to have to start ignoring you. Or for Sanuyeth to take a chunk out of Hazmath's hide."

Jasiline shrugged. "Maybe. I'd hate to count them out so soon but..." You culled the weak. You didn't baby them. It's why you always had to prove yourself, to fight for the recognition that you were better. Sanuyeth had a slightly different approach to the idea but Jasiline's belief held firm. She'd fought to be recognized by her parents that she wasn't just 'the baby', that she wasn't just fodder for marriage. Then she and Sanuyeth worked hard to show they weren't weak or to be ignored for their gender or color.

Had she been like that green down below...they would have fought just as hard, if not harder. Jasiline made a face. This was too deep of thinking for her right now. "Even if they baby them through training, they'll never be chosen for a wing."

"T'gall might be voted back in... maybe. Depends upon who flies who next I'd think. I doubt Venk is keeping his position though. With the way Hiraeth looks... I wouldn't want him too. Not only for the Weyr's reputation but for his own fardling life."

She had a crippled front leg. Someone was bound to try and ground them.

He couldn't give a shaff because he wouldn't LET them because she was perfect and what had he even been mad about?

"Marloth..." He breathed out the name in a rare moment of being truly unselfish conscious, which didn't last long.

< -Sandals. Good. No aglets.-> she noted as she looked him over critically.

"I-oh no, no hold up... The healers are coming. By all means... Let's eat. I mean let's get you some food . "

“That… you are probably right about.” He hated considering that. The little brown with fits would be too much of a danger for himself and others. The strange sounding one… he wasn’t sure if anything was wrong with her, but the way she had acted. The one with the cripple front leg though. “It will likely depend on who they impress to.” He would count them out of the first two.

“Same… Hiraeth shouldn’t have rose, after the last two clutches being so difficult on her.” He shook his head and eyed the last egg. “Here’s hoping that the last one hatches healthy.”

The Listening blue kept on picking his way forward, stumbling over his huge feet on occasion and looking right and left with interest. He slowed as he neared the candidates and anyone looking at them would easily be able to pick out just why they were so large and ungainly; he had extra toes on every foot, and extra fingers on his wings for that matter. Listening gave the candidates a friendly hum and bobs of his head as he passed by, but pass onward he did; on and up to the Stands. Apparently considerate fellow that he was rather than clambering over everyone he took one of the sets of steps that were spaced at regular intervals around the spectators' seating area.

Fashion Crime actually managed to tip itself over and roll a good few feet before a large crack appeared down one side, allowing a plump green to roll straight out of it and onto the sands. She shook herself off and then fell to - apparently - making sure her pinions and toes were all clear of egg-gunk and that all was in order. She looked - physically - perfect.

Egg was distracted enough by suddenly! a firelizard! in her lap! that she paid no attention whatsoever to the oncoming dragon - in fact, enough so that she didn’t even see him, instead working on squeezing a hand out from under the flitter so that she could pet him.

“That’s good…"

And wasn't that lucky. It seemed everyone that came to help him was going to impressed. Yevalee gave a slightly pained sound as Private eye came back to Kidder. Just what he needed. Nope.. lets keep going. Stands were close by and healers.

"They can't just stop a dragon who's about to rise though can they?" She knew people talked on things that could make a woman unable to bear children... but most of them were a load of whershit and even if they did work there was no guarantee they'd work o a dragon right?

"She looks pretty good so far."

Vanavia smiled and shook her head as Smith managed to woo another unsuspecting victim. Honestly, the blue was all sunshine and sweetness for everyone else. Only she was lucky enough to find the little monster tearing up clothes and bedding, pilfering food from plates and stores. It was like the little blue was actively trying to make her seem insane should she mention he was badly behaved. Even now as he crooned and purred at the attention from Aeglentine. Still, it seemed to distract her from the mess down there so she'd let him get away with it this time.

Although maybe that wasn't the best situation after all. Momentarily distracted by her own blue that she hadn't noticed the much larger blue approaching the candidates. She looked up just in time to see him pass right by them. Well, what was he up to? Oh. Oh dear. The blue walked up into the stands and Vanavia spared a glance at Aeglentine, she really needed her wits about her if that blue was going to pass by. They weren't right up at the front so they had a bit of time. At least the blue was being considerate enough to take the stairs and not trample people. That was kind of him. Still, what business did he even have in being there? Okay, she really needed to get the other girl's attention, but she was hesitant to take her eyes off the blue should he start running or something else go amiss.

"Um, Aeglentine, we may have a problem here."

Peth warbled at his brother blue as he approached the stands. he ignored me! Peth blorted indignantly.

he's no where near us Peth. Let him find his. please let him choose a candidate...even an un-squired one. It was going to be hard enough on them without having to start turns behind everyone else.

<...So that's what they're doing? It's so...inefficient! Why wouldn't everyone speak the way we do?>

Not everyone has the ability, Leoth, Alcine explained, tossing another strip of meat into the green's open maw. They'd been going back and forth like this for minutes, Leoth asking questions and Alcine doing her best to answer them dutifully, every so often having to distract her bondmate with a particularly tasty cut of meat when the other pairs began to shamble in. On any other day, Alcine would have offered congratulations and have been curious about who had Impressed, but on this day there was Leoth and only Leoth, and she had so many questions that needed answering this instant.

When the most recent pair approached the feeding tables, Leoth turned her head and snarled, her wings flaring up to make herself look bigger. However, with Alcine's hand at one flank she seemed to calm herself, nevertheless giving Kidder, his bloody gash marks, and her crippled sister a wary look.

Alcine blinked, then looked to Kidder with a nod of acknowledgement, keeping her hand at Leoth's side. If she'd noticed Marloth's impediment, she made no motion of bringing it up.

"Congratulations," she greeted the new greenrider, stepping aside so he would have better access to the tables. Leoth growled, but Alcine seemed to calm her (at least for the moment) with a couple of well-earned eyeridge scratches for being so patient and understanding. "Leoth says she didn't mean to knock you over, she was startled by the other green." It seemed like Leoth was hard of hearing, if not completely deaf, but that was a detail Kidder didn't need to know immediately.

After a moment's pause, her lips curled into a wry smile. "She keeps imagining you wearing a crown of flowers, I'm not sure why." From beside Alcine, Leoth regarded the pair with warm, knowing eyes.
