“Three Generals,” Ganymede distractedly answered Themiscyra, twisting and turning on the spot to try and spy Benitoite through the crowd. “Always seem to be out and about when there's trouble brewing. That was Buddy back there at the store. Looks like Beni's up now. Wonder who's next.”

She didn't spend too much time wondering. A city-wide blackout, the distraction of a hostage situation that had likely been meant as a trap. It stank of something larger than this, and those crystals being steadily fed energy gave this whole fiasco a rather ominous feel, more so than the identity of those Negaverse officers that were currently present.

Valhalla's sad attempt at a hostage (Tsavolite) interrupted any attempts Ganymede may have had in formulating a plan. With the youma otherwise distracted and with no immediate sight of Benitoite, Ganymede's gaze shifted to the mouthy Lieutenant. For a moment she simply observed him, sizing him up and finding him, like many other agents his rank, notably unimpressive. He was far from intimidating. A bit of an annoyance, really. Why the Negaverse sent their lowest ranking agents out with nothing truly useful at their disposal she would never understand.

“Ferme ta gueule!” she demanded. His English being interspersed with French made her angry. She hadn't had many reasons to speak to anyone in French since her father's death. It grated on her nerves to hear it spoken so casually by someone who assisted his superiors in their destructive schemes and pretended to be innocent of any wrong-doing.

Un,” she said, and took a step toward him, “we don't have subordinates. We don't steal energy from innocent civilians, use them as hostages, or kill them, so don't you dare try and compare us to you and the rest of your sick organization. Deux,” she continued, and took another step toward him, “my magic doesn't actually cause fire so no one was scarred by it, unless you mean figuratively, in which case je m'en fiche. If any of you cared to avoid it, maybe you shouldn't cut the power and stage a hostage crisis. You reap what you sew, honey. You can't run around being a menace to society and not expect to face any consequences. Et trois,” she was right up in his face now, “no one was left behind on the roof because, yeah, I looked. Apparently you missed it in between all your muttering but we were practically the last ones to leave. Don't stand there and preach to me about leaving my allies behind when your Generals were the first to run. No one stayed behind to save your sorry a**, did they?”

The longer she ranted, the angrier she became. She hadn't spent three years risking her life and playing by the rules only for some puny little Lieutenant to throw it back in her face and pretend as if he or the people he served were in any way superior or more morally sound.

“How is what you're doing right?” she sneered, viciously poking him in the chest with her index finger to annunciate. “Your people couldn't care less about civilian casualties. You lie and deceive people. You pretend to be righteous when your actions prove otherwise. You delude yourselves into believing what you're doing is necessary for the greater good, all the while clinging to some bullshit relationship drama from a thousand years ago to justify your actions. You play the 'oh we're so misunderstood' card as if it'll gain you sympathy points instead of owning up to what you really are.

“You better watch out, Lieutenant,” at this point her voice dropped lower, her eyes narrowed into a dark glare that seemed out of place on an otherwise bright, pretty face. “You don't want to make an enemy of me. Lucky for you I save my magic for the ones who really deserve it. Not pathetic little wastes of Chaos like you, walking around with blinders on and making a show of moral superiority that doesn't exist. But when you can pull your head out of your a** and admit to what you are, maybe then you'll have enough of my respect to feel what it's like to burn from the inside out. You want to be evil? Then be evil. Your side plays the anti-hero poorly.”

Ganymede's tirade stopped as suddenly as it started, and with one final shove at the Lieutenant she pivoted away. “I don't want his help,” she told Valhalla. “I'm fine.”

She stepped back toward Themiscyra and the second page (Ashur) and turned her attention to another youma (Bazzite), which seemed to have momentarily distracted the page of Mars. “Not all of them are witless, I guess,” she observed. She trembled slightly, her body thrumming with a mix of pent up energy, adrenalin, and boiling anger.

The bodies that moved around Ida were... distracting, making it hard to reach where she was trying to go. The struggle moved the crowd back and forth, weapons and magic flying thick and forcing her to detour or dodge wildly at time. She couldn't keep her eyes on Tsui, but that didn't stop her from trying to stay on course. She just had to keep moving, even as she kept her eyes peeled for the cross fire.

Suddenly, the eternal broke from the crowd and found a strange scene. There was Tsui, thankfully whole and hale, and around her were a corrupt eternal and a general. At least, those were the ones she was sure of, but there were youma everywhere and... wait, wasn't that the eternal from the warehouse? Brown eyes narrowed, but she ignored him for now. Tsui was more important... her team mates were always more important, though they might choose to fight separately from time to time.

Jumping to close the last of the distance, Ida skidded to a stop at Tsui's back in her golden heels, but the tiger senshi was off before she could do more than call her name. Well... at least she was here to guard her back now, even if she was too busy to notice. That left the eternal facing her dark counter part and she brought her hands up in defensive fists as she studied her opponent. Green hair, greek dress, black wings.... fruit of some kind. Pomegranates? Wait... Ida's eyes widened as she clenched her fists, remembering a first level senshi she had met once who had worn pomegranates. If this was the same person, then corruption had taken yet another of their number... like it had taken Ate. That betrayal had hurt deeply... this one... she didn't know what to think any more.

Witty Punching Bag

PostPosted: Thu May 15, 2014 10:46 am

The red-faced Themiscyra was a sight to behold, albeit rather briefly considering he did have to concentrate on a youma, but all the same it amused him to a degree. A very, very small degree. "Of course you were," he replied with an indignant snort. And he left it at that.

The youma was proving to be more than both him and Themiscyra combined -- all they could really do was try and pull or shove it off of the senshi, but thankfully their efforts were helped when a green light shot out and hit its mark (the youma, thankfully), sending the thing flying off in some other direction. Ashur didn't even wanna know what the hell that light was supposed to do, but having been freed from his duty as a knight, his focus was immediately back on the radiating pain in his face as he quite visibly winced.

He was a bit too distracted by that to pay much attention to anything else around him in the succeeding minutes, trusting the other knights to at least shout some kind of warning at him if some youma was about to jump him. There was mention of B's that he didn't quite catch and maybe some more shouting; Valhalla's approach and subsequent demands for someone -- the enemy? (Tsavolite) -- to help out in a medical capacity had him open his eyes and start to approach.

All stopped short when she (Ganymede) started to tell him off. It was definitely a sight, and he inched a bit toward his fellow Page while clutching his face, nudging her lightly with his elbow. "Remind me to never piss her off and all is forgiven," he whispered, then winced again. He tried to remind himself never to piss of Themi, too, but he figured saying so might earn him another punch to the other side of his face. Despite himself, the idea of balanced pain kind of appealed to him.

When the senshi finished and her temper seemed to dissipate he could only blink at her, then briefly look to the lieutenant she'd been verbally duking it out with and thought better about asking for some help with his face. With a sigh, and of course another groan as the pain shot through him again, he turned to the oncoming, talking youma. It managed to catch Themi's attention, but he'd been all too focused on the seething senshi to really notice at first. "Freaky. Like all of 'em, but it looks like something right out of a kid's nightmare."

She had resumed her walk over to that mart. She had mostly decided on just grabbing some supplies and heading back. Groups of concerned citizens seemed to have all but disappeared entirely. As she walked into the mart parking lot, she heard someone yell at her. What? Did someone just tell her it was dangerous out? Why? Just because it was dark? Psh. It took more than a black out to scare her!

Then, she turned around. Her eyes noticed a few things. The first being his eyes. Why was it they seemed familiar. In the dark, it was hard to decipher, but he seemed like... just vaguely like ... someone she knew maybe? However, that thought went out the window when she noticed he was holding onto something. "Holy s**t. What is that..."

Well, obviously there was more going on here than a normal power outage. Was that like.. a mini godzilla or some s**t like that? She just gave them a look and darted off into the little store. She grabbed what she needed and threw a handful of money on the counter. Leaving, she spied him and took off back towards the neighborhood.

He was the second person to tell her she should go back home. She just really didn't want to go back home at the moment. What's more; she felt incredibly curious about what was going on. How could anyone truly protect themselves when they didn't know what it was all about. She then picked it up and raced to the end of the street where it turned back into a street that led to hers. She stood there looking at that man.

There was a part of her that wished whatever was going on. That she could help.. or fight.. or something. Anything else than just... sitting at home waiting.

“Not really,” he mumbled to Themiscrya, feeling a bit sheepish now that the whole ‘hostage’ thing was being brought up. “He showed up to help the unconscious civilian Buddingtonite had. I didn’t know what the other knights or senshi there would have done to him if I’d left him,” Valhalla said with a sigh, lifting his arms to cross them over his chest.

Of course, as Ganymede turned on the Lieutenant (Tsavolite), Valhalla wondered if he’d released the young man a bit too soon. “She didn’t cause that fire,” he confirmed, lifting his hands to try and somehow magically make everyone get along. “He seems new to all of this, Ganymede,” he tried, turning from Tsavolite to Ganymede, reaching out to try and get her to hold still so he could look her over and make sure she wasn’t too beat up. “He hasn’t tried to fight me or hurt me… I don’t think he’s a bad person,” he pleaded with her, not expecting her to change her mind about the young man, but hoped she would settle enough to focus on what was important right now — getting out of all this alive.

He couldn’t help but wince, looking at her torn clothing and scratch marks everywhere, and he couldn’t help but feel bad for Ashur who was trying to help out and ended up getting hit in the process. “You okay?” he asked of the Uranus knight, grateful he’d stepped in to help in the first place.

Valhalla turned to face the Lieutenant once more, nodding to him. “I won’t keep you here if you want to go… but just know I won’t be able to keep an eye on you if you go too far. Just… be careful,” he requested, taking a step back and towards where Ganymede was once more. He hoped that the Lieutenant would stick around, but he really wasn’t the hostage taking-type.

“What’s the plan? Go for the crystals or the Generals guarding them?” he asked, glancing towards the youma that seemed to still be feeling sick, and then back towards the heart of the fighting. “Should we take them one at a time or split up?” he asked, glancing towards Themiscrya, Ashur and Ganymede to see if they had any ideas. He hadn’t gotten his hands dirty yet and wanted to help end this fight.

"Or should we just take out that youma, first?" he grimaced, nodding towards the creepy looking one who apparently spoke (Bazzite). "Is that Tsui?" he nodded towards the senshi heading towards Benitoite now that Ganymede missed her chance. "We could give her some cover, too..."

(SLOW LIZZY RPER IS SLOW 8D )

Iris was in the lead of her small group, and even though the original plan was to simply trail the Lieutenant (Galena), rather quickly the path to the nearest cluster of Negaverse energies seemed to form. It was close to the Power Plant. However, that wasn't something to dwell on at the moment, considering how chaotic things were at the moment.

The easiest thing to target at the moment was clearly the large bull-like youma, and without any hesitation, the eternal senshi summoned up a rainbow from her fist.

"IRIS RAINBOW SLICER!*" she cried out before flinging a bright rainbow-like lasso towards the youma.

With a rather cocky grin, the eternal senshi mentioned to the Dark Mirror Senshi (Canopus) and two basic senshi (Auriga + Astarte) "Sorry fer crashin' th'party... but not sorry!"

Momentarily she glanced back to Psyche, Metis (and Thetis at her feet), making certain they had kept up.

"O-okay," said Astrophyllite, nodding. Kerberos was the pretty senshi with the blue hair - he'd be easy to find. She'd felt him earlier, when they'd all been gathered by the crystal: earthy, like fresh-turned dirt, a hint of something floral and something a little like embalming fluid. Bitter and herbal at the back of her throat, but not unpleasant. He was good. He was on their side, even if he was an alien.

As she headed back off towards the senshi, she made her best effort to collect more energy and to toss the sphere back to Avalon. Astrophyllite felt really good about how good she'd been at that so far, even if her ouija board was broken (and Avalon had said it was okay that it was, so maybe Bischofite wouldn't punish her for breaking it-- she could live and hope). She was going to make their crystal shine like the top of-

The top of-

The top of a really tall building with lights on it!

Kerberos came into view, along with the youma hassling him. "Go away!" the lieutenant hollered, swatting at it with the doubled-up halves of her weapon, like it was a dog and she was holding a newspaper. "Go after the bad senshi! Not him! He's a good guy!"

She gave Kerberos an uneasy smile, and gave the youma another swat in hopes that it would get the point and follow her order.

Acubens went for the weaker youma first. Ones that she could break parts off of a dust efficiently. She'd sent her foot through the first youma's face when she shouted back to Andronicus, "If we survive this, coffee on me, deal?" Another yanked her free leg, dragging her away from her first pile of dust. A spider, something she knew how to deal with. She kicked with her free leg, knocking the monster's head several times before it wailed and released her. Free as she was, however, her one leg was pretty much shot for the moment, skin ripped where the pincers had trapped her. Suddenly that "if" looked bigger and bigger.

The spider shook it's head and screeched a little more, deciding that Acubens was more important than the crystals it and it's friends had so recently been focusing on. It lowered itself in an almost cat-like fashion, back end wiggling from side to side. Acubens probably should have run, but by the time it pounced her, it was already too late.

And where, exactly, was that brown dark mirror she'd met just moments before? Had he decided to help her with the youma or Andronicus with the negas. Maybe she should have payed more attention or waited for an answer. As it stood, however, she had been stupid again and was pinned under a rather angry youma, trying to keep the pincers away from her face.

He had been amused, oh so amused, at the tiger senshi's reaction to Bazzite's form. Had she not believed him? Had she envisioned something else? What had been on her mind when he'd told her of the former Captain's fate? Had it been something flowery or something that didn't resemble the Captain he'd once been? Something that was easier to handle. Either way to see her reactions to the sight were enjoyable to him, he'd almost wanted to make some comment about it. he'd wanted to insult her, to pour salt into whatever little wounds he'd just inflicted upon her. Maybe she'd survive tonight and live to see another sun rise but he could still break her, and oh how he'd love to do that.

"You seem shocked. Did you think I was lying when I told you what happened to him?" He questioned in such a sickeningly sweet voice as he gave a canted his head to the side a bit, giving a false smile to her to go with the surgery sweet voice. "I'm sorry if you thought I was lying. I wouldn't lie about such things though. No-" His words were however cut off due to the senshi of tigers and a fist to the face. His head snapped back, blond hair splashing across his face with the movement, before he moved his head back to face the senshi.

Growling softly his hand tightened about his weapon. "You'll pay for that." Spitting out blood, he'd bitten into the inside of his cheek with the impact. Shaking off the pain he brought his weapon up, over his head, before he brought it down in a sweeping arch.

"You can handle the eternal Persephone? I'll handle the tiger here..." Maybe he owuld get to spill her blood across the ground.

"How 'bout tea, and we're good." she said, slamming her mace into another youma and turning it into dust. She skidded around a corner, going off full tilt into a nameless Negaverse. She crashed into him and all but ran him over. The agent went to grab her leg and she slammed her foot into his face.

"OI LET GO." She didn't stay long enough to see the puddle of blood roll out from beneath him. Or the damage to his face, and the nose that was clearly smushed into his face. Andronicus just kept running, taking swing at anyone who got close.

By the time they were actually asked to get out, Kerberos was well and ready to do so. It was time to get moving, to get away from the youma who looked good and determined to eat him, and to finish up this operation with, possibly quite literally, a bang. He had to admit that he was hoping he'd have more of a chance to go face-to-face with one of them at the end, but even if not -- he would still have had a very successful night.

So he turned heel and got getting, glad he hadn't used his magic yet. He'd have two shots for the grand finale, and he was pretty sure he was going to need them.

Penthesilea wanted to keep charging, to challenge General and Lieutenant together. She had plenty of energy and plenty of anger. The idea of letting Chaos continue to run amok and possibly cause more harm when she could at least try and prevent it was absolutely anathema to her. They had no right, no right to do what they were doing to innocent people.

And yet at the same time, she realized that challenging a General with a real sword with her magical glowing one was probably not going to be the best idea she'd ever had. Even if she deeply, bitterly wanted to do so.

And alright, the part of her that was a well-trained New Orleans occultist was feeling a little nervous about having almost cracked an Ouija board in half. Not so much about making its weilder cry, but definitely about having possibly unleashed some very, very bad juju.

So she pondered retreat, but didn't have too much time to churn it over, since the choice was made for her. The Negaverse was pulling back, going onto wherever those crystals were supposed to be delivered, and even if it meant that power was restored to the city, she still knew there was more to be done.

Chaos was still doing something nefarious, and that could not be allowed to continue.

When the drum didn't crash into her, PErsephone dared to move her hands and raise her head - and let out a sigh of relief when she saw who had caught it.

"I owe you, Bazzite!" She called after him, her way of thanks for saving her life. Or at least saving her several broken bones. She had to admit that she was a little disappointed to have Tsui's attention off her and on Benitoite, but on the upside she had something else very interesting to handle. A smile once again graced her features as she took in the second Eternal before her.

"Ida!" She greeted, as lightly and cheerily as she had Tsui. "It's been far too long." They'd both been first-levels, no more than children in a war larger than either of them could have comprehended.

She gave Benitoite a nod of acknowledgement, for the moment - he and Tsui could have their grudgematch, she would keep an eye on Ida.

Not that they could stay for long.

"Ida my darling, I'd love to play catch-up, but I really can't stay. So instead, I'll say...catch me if you can!" She winked and leaned on her crystal, and then disappeared.

Astarte was hatching a plan, even if Auriga was not aware of it. She thrashed helplessly as Canopus made a move to help her -- only to be pushed away by the other senshi. "Wait, wha--" But her words were cut off when both senshi launched attacks. When the beam struck the youma, the dark-haired girl tumbled free immediately, landing on the ground beside in a crouch. She quickly rolled left to avoid its stamping feet.

Popping back up, Auriga winced at a sharp pain in her side. She had definitely bruised something badly, but it was not debilitating, just distracting. "YOU RULE," she shouted to both girls.

And they weren't alone! Another senshi launched an attack -- rainbow something or other.

She twirled to look at the eternal, taking in her bright, happy fuku and burning with jealousy. "Man, are you a senshi of RAINBOWS? How did I get stuck with pestilence and some people get to be rainbows?" she said quickly, as if there was not a battle raging around them.

Then, suddenly, the crystals and officers disappeared, and Auriga was left gaping. A few mentioned the congregation of auras at a warehouse, and like a moth to the flame Auriga dashed after the crowd -- following them toward wherever the path led, never thinking her life could be on the line.

Lt. Kyanite was doing her best, but her best didn't feel good enough. At least she was a lot more useful now than she was on the rooftop. She hadn't gotten knocked out! That was something, right? Plus, Haumea was on board with her choices, which made her feel even better. Apparently she was capable of making good decisions in battle, after all.

As she rounded back toward the crystal, she saw Persephone teleport out and then quickly backpedaled, hustling to the next site. We can do this, she thought. I can help our mission succeed!

It was only a matter of time.

Neso was taking his time intentionally - and hey, it had worked! By the time he and Chariklo neared battle, it appeared that people were already moving again. "Looks like we missed the party," he said, closing his eyes and sensing for where the auras were headed. A sizable collection of dark energy gesticulated in a warehouse within his range.

"I trust you are up for the after party instead," he said, steering the pair in the direction that called to him.

It wasn't like him to seek out a fight, but now that he had it in his head Zodiacs might be involved, he couldn't walk away. Neso only hoped Chariklo would stay with him. He didn't want to face it alone.

The call was, ostensibly, out and their centers were taking the goods and scarpering as only high ranks really could. The rest of their retreat would have to be hopefully more concerted and more aware. She'd try to keep her eyes on the rest of the team again as long as she could while they melted to darkness back to Point. To make sure that the chaos of battle and the dark didn't catch anyone flat-footed, Captain Schörl called out over her crystal to her group.

"Our bird has flown. Fade out, gents." A quick shift on her heels and a hand moving Barbary to be a Nemean Lion, and she disappeared into the dark without making another audible sound.

The retreat was sudden to him, even if it wasn't really to other, probably more competent Lieutenants. The darkness shouldn't be a problem, really, but running around in the dark playing either Midnight Dragon or German Spotlight had never been high on his list of activities. In fact, he'd never played either. Trying to find anyone to fight or drain in the pitch, with sudden showers of magic or shouts here or there, an errant plant worker running into him or two, and it all just seemed like an exercise in futility.

How did anyone fight without at least even streetlamps?

It made sudden sense why old battles usually paused at sundown.

At least it meant not having to wade around anymore. Titan turned and set to following the much more attainable orders of reporting to duty much more suited to him.

The youma's appearance was (un)timely and intriguing both. The creature responded directly to the General, from all appearances from Thraen's vantage, and had the appearances of speech. At least until it made faces and roared at him. No more than that much was apparently on its mind and it was off to attack some other poor sot.

In the time, though, that purple eternal from the warehouse had taken up arms alongside the Tiger he'd come with. Their body language spoke of some familiarity, whether at some camps, as friends, or as teammates wouldn't be a conundrum solved from such a distance. Nor likely one he had time to spend on now.

Some of the Lieutenants started falling back. Then the Corrupted taunted and vanished. They can teleport as the officers can?

Plain enough,
was the answer. It left an ashen taste in his mouth, and more questions that would want answers- like if corrupted senshi shared the same disconcerting ability to reach in chests and murder for starseeds. There's no reason to stand around here. Follow the rabbits to the warren. The Lieutenants cannot teleport, and they cannot wholesale hide. For now its worth it not to try to kill them. This energy is going to be used for something. And if its used tonight, they'll lead the way. If it isn't tonight...that will show itself soon enough.

Andronicus spun around a corner and dusted another youma. Her ankle surged with pain for a moment and she winced. Okay, time to take a moment to herself she figured. She felt the other auras leave the area; they were on the move again. At least nothing got set on fire this time.

The Page let out a sigh and rubbed her ankle. It throbbed, but it would be fine. She hadn't been hit by anything yet so it would be fine. Surely.

She followed after the auras, really hoping the end was in sight.
