Lynora nodded and stayed close to the Prince. "Yes please!" she said with a cheery voice but she felt extremely out of place and knew if she didn't keep close to her guide that she would surely end up bumping into someone. "There are so many people here...do you know all of them?" she asked curiously, keeping the conversation light.

Althalos shook his head. "Not one. They are too pretentious, if you ask me," he answered her and stopped walking once they reached a pillar. "I do know of some of them, but I have no friends here. The men and their sons are obnoxious, the women are full of themselves, and their daughters are loud and spoiled. You're really the only decent one."

Lynora looked around at all of the women who were dressed up for the event and understood what Al meant when he talked about the other women. They all wore very nice dresses but they looked like they spent more time on their appearance and their resistance to food than anything else. "I see what you mean." she said softly as she was offered wine by one of the waiters. Lynora passed on the alcohol since she was still underage. "The men look so serious though. Is everyone allergic to smiling or something?" she asked softly, even the King looked a little morose!

Althalos took for himself a glass of wine, though merely to hold in his hand. He usually did this to avoid dancing. "Perhaps they are. I've seen commoner parties with its guests having more fun," he said, chuckling at Lynora's observation. "I apologize if you aren't enjoying yourself here. It was out of my selfish desire for a decent companion that I invited you to come." Did Lynora like dances? They couldn't be having conversations all the time, Althalos knew, and he frankly wouldn't mind if the girl was his partner.

She smiled a little and shook her head. "Please don't apologize, I'm stuck in this place anyways, the least I can do is try to have a little fun I suppose." she said softly, though the place she was stuck in wasn't ideal. "The food smells good though." she said quietly to herself. "I wonder where Sreda ran off to."

Althalos sipped his wine. "Well, in any case, I'll do my best to entertain you," he said to her and then he leaned against the pillar. "Don't be so concerned about Sreda. The girl always disappears around this time, though I did hear she has to take care of the warlock. Must be scared out of her mind." The servant girl was one of the less annoying of girls, though it was a bother that she couldn't hear or talk. It was only out of pity that she was here, really.

Lynora's brain was somewhere else when she heard Al speak but the word warlock stuck in her mind. "Carac..." she whispered softly. "I heard you are searching for another warlock as well, have you found that one?" she asked a little worriedly, maybe she could change his mind about capturing people who were probably innocent.

"We're going after a witch, actually. She's the warlock's sister," Althalos replied. "She is actually the more dangerous of them, but perhaps she'll remain tame while we have her brother. However, the sooner we find her, the sooner we will be rid of the criminals." He recalled that Lynora knew nothing about magicians. Perhaps there were none in her world or they were very good at hiding. "I take it the future will be rid of witches and warlocks?"

Lynora released a heavy sigh, how could this be happening? They helped her when she first came to this place, they couldn't be that bad! "What evidence do you have that they are bad people?" she asked, ready to debate with anyone, Prince or not, about doing their jobs properly.

"Did I not tell you before? They had been poisoning children," Althalos said, wondering why Lynora would think to defend the witch and warlock. "There are plenty of grieving parents to testify. The two continuously gave potions to children on the pretense that such things would help them with an illness or simply grow strong. They even cast spells on the especially ill. All the children are dying as of now. Is it not evidence enough?"

Lynora furrowed her brows and stood tall. "No it's not enough." she said sternly. "Did you bother to investigate their home? Find out what ingredients they are putting into their potions? Test the children to see if they have actually been poisoned or if they are just plain sick!?" She was starting to get a little carried away.

"Their home is hidden. We've been searching for it for a while and the warlock won't say anything," Althalos said, annoyed. This was the third time Lynora was mad at him and this was already the third day! "How will you explain the condition of all the children? There were even some who were healthy when given the potions. Besides, they all experienced a plethora of different signs. Many face excruciating aches when they try to move, some could no longer focus on anything they see, one or two could no longer recognize their parents. These are not ordinary ailments." He narrowed his eyes at her. Did they have to argue again? "Why do you insist on defending criminals? You know nothing of them. It should not be any of your business."

Lynora looked like she was slapped across the face, how could he be so insensitive? She purposely hit the bottom of his wine glass, drenching his face in the cold red liquid. "Criminals or not, they are still human beings." she said softly before storming out of the ballroom.

All eyes were on them now, as if drenching whine on the Crown Prince was an unforgivable sin. Althalos quickly excused himself, having them believe that he was simply going to change clothes, but he hurried after Lynora instead. The matter was not yet settled. "Lynora, wait for a moment!" he called, though he caught up to her regardless. "Why are you so upset? Do you really know them personally? I can't imagine you would be so mad if they were strangers to you."

Lynora couldn't control what came out of her mouth next. "I do know them!" She blurted out before realizing what she had just said. "Well....sort of...When I came here they came out and helped me. They gave me a robe and food just before I met you. I doubt they are the kind of people who would poison children just for the fun of it. Your people call their craft 'magic', where I come from it's called 'science' and without it we would not have doctors or healers of any kind."
