Julian


The little bandaged boy made a small noise, but still seemed to be sleeping. He curled up when Liam picked him up and turned so that he was facing the chest, or the source of warmth for him. Small fingers clutched the shirt in front of him and his face burrowed into the clothe, wanting a blanket.

Morning came along with the persistent chirps of nearby birds. With a long exhale through his nose, Julian opened his eyes slightly, greeted by the lazy morning sunlight breaking through the windows. As he slowly got up and rubbed the grogginess from his eyes, he thought back to yesterday. That fight. Was it all just a dream? It must've been if he could move just fine. Lowering his arms, Julian looked over to see Daniel and Liam sleeping on the bed as well. Where was...? Oh, that's right. The strange officer was being strange on that other bed.

He nodded. "I'm better." he said then looked down at his arm, where there was a bandage wrapped around it. His expression grew somber. "So... yesterday wasn't a dream then?" he murmured with a slightly narrowed stare. How was he feeling so much better then?

Julian turned to look over at Daniel. Memories flashed through his mind. His body ached with sharp pain as it too recalled the kicks to the ribs and the punches to the face, but it faded away as memories of Daniel attacking the bullies surfaced. He remembered seeing the smaller boy take on the two and winning, then coming over to check on him. Julian remembered hugging him and crying on him, then mentioning marriage to him. He scowled and turned his blushing face away, forcing the thoughts away. Those few torturous memories left, but questions took their place. "Did... Did he get hurt?" he asked and looked back at the doctor.

Julian frowned at the sight of the bruises, but he shortly huffed and look away. "Yeah, well, I didn't need his help. I coulda taken them all on myself." he grumbled. He wouldn't admit that Daniel saved him, mainly because he didn't know what to do about it. He was young but still had plenty of pride.

Nodding, Julian waited for Liam to leave before turning to Daniel. "Hey..." Seeing that he got no reaction, he set his small hand on the smaller boy's shoulder, careful not to touch the bruises, and gently shook him. "Hey, wake up. Come on."

Meanwhile, Cameron slept silently, but woke up easily when he heard Liam. "Oh hey. Is it morning already?" he asked. He had a slight look of misery to his face. He wanted to stretch or at least yawn, but his body was still in the process of healing and refused to move. It was because of this problem that made it hard for him to fall asleep last night. He couldn't move, couldn't turn his head, couldn't do anything! The only way he fell asleep was from the exhaustion of staying awake for so long.

His eye twitching with irritation, Julian flexed his index finger and ruthlessly jabbed one of Daniel's bruises. "You have to get up!" he whined.

"T-shirt's fine." Cameron said. The misery on his face grew worse as he felt fresh air touch his bare skin. He would've at least taken his own clothes off to help Liam, but his body refused. Had he been able to move his head he would be able to look down and see that his body wasn't making much progress in terms of internal organs. Other than that, his chest was fixed to the point of looking as though he had just gotten out of surgery. The gash on his chest was still sewn on but now closed on its own, and a heavy bruise surrounded a large portion of it. It was a drastic change from yesterday.
