Opening the flask, Eron knelt down.

"Yup, we're lucky they're friendly. I'm going to tie this rope to a tree, and someone is going to come and help you down."

He handed her the flask and waited to see if she could drink by herself.

Shoneah took the flask and put it to her lips. She drank slowly and deeply, letting the water soak in her mouth before swallowing it down, a bit at a time.

After a moment, she paused. "Thanks," she murmured softly. She licked her lips and took another drink.

He waited for a second longer before getting up to tie the rope to the tree. One would think he wouldn't know much about this, but learning knots came from his old history obsession he had growing up. So he did (fortunately) have some knowledge of how to make a good knot that wouldn't come undone.

Giving a few good tugs, and once satisfied with what he saw, he tossed the rest of the rope over the edge.

"There," he was pleased, it was rare he had something he could do since coming here.

Shoneah watched Eron curiously as he straightened after tying the rope.

"So what kind of people are they?" she asked him quietly. "Friendly isn't very descriptive."

She wanted to know what they were getting into. Yes, their original goal had been simply to find people and get some help, but now that they'd found people, her instincts were leaning towards caution again.

"They're elves, like yourself, but dark skinned and very well camouflaged into the terrain. At least judging from the way they dressed, really it wouldn't be that hard to sneak up on me considering it all," Eron admitted with a shrug.

He was after all a teacher, but he had, had students in the past who were very hard to sneak up on. Some of the... less bright students would make a bet to see who could sneak up on such students. This often ended in emergency visits to the ER.

Eron tapped his finger to his lip as to think some more.

"Oh! And they said some weird things before someone talked to me. I don't think they've ever seen anyone of my race, granted we don't know what races even exist in this world so..."

So for all he knew maybe there were only dark skinned elves in this world or something.

Shoneah was curious to know what these elves would be like. Would they be like her? Would they be very different?

Her eyes flickered to the rope as it was suddenly pulled taut.

"Were they weird things for someone who might not know what race you are?" she asked Eron quietly. "Or just plain weird?"

"Well... one asked... Common Tongue, I'm not sure what the question was. I'm assuming it's a language, but I don't know why they're asking about languages," Eron admitted.

That was the one that was out of context the most.

"The other one was... what is he? It wasn't... what race is he, it is, what is he, I thought that was kind of odd...."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 20, 2014 7:45 pm

Shoneah pursed her lips thoughtfully.

"Maybe ... it's the language that's the most common here?" she suggested. "I don't know. I agree, it does sound like a language, but ... why would they ask about it?"

It didn't make sense to her. If they understood the language, why would they ask about it? If they didn't, why would they talk so that he could understand them? It didn't make sense at all.

Eron shrugged, he was just as clueless as she was about the comment.

"It was strange, they didn't say anything to me actually, only one person spoke for the whole group," he told her.

Which was probably the person who was coming up.

Shoneah nodded, her eyes on the rope, and finished off the last of the water.

"Do you think they're trustworthy?" she asked Eron quietly, wary of the person who was still climbing the rope. She didn't know how close the person was, and she didn't want him to overhear her question, or Eron's reply to it.

Eron thought about it, "I think so, they could have ambushed me at any time, and they didn't see you until you began to fall."

So the fact he hadn't been ambushed while drinking was a good sign.

"I think they're probably just as equally wary of us."

Shoneah nodded, still thoughtful. Well, that was a good sign, anyways.

It was only a few short minutes later when the man who had spoken for the group of elves down below poked his head over the top of the gorge and then pulled himself up. When he saw Shoneah, he did a double take, and then his brow furrowed slightly.

"You are not like him," he said curiously, nodding in Eron's general direction. "You ... you are almost like us ..."

He seemed both surprised and confused, and that confused Shoneah.

Eron tilted his head a bit, curiously because that comment told him a lot.

"Is this unusual?" he asked the man, "You seem so surprised by us."

It was supporting this idea that there weren't really many other races, or at least not his race in this world, but it also told him races traveling together (if there was more than elves) weren't common at all.

The man ignored Eron, instead focusing his attention on Shoneah.

"Allow me to guess," he said, looking over her thoughtfully. "Mixed blood ... Earth and White? Perhaps Light?"

Shoneah's brow furrowed angrily. She didn't know what he was talking about, but she was insulted by the insinuation that her blood was not pure.

"I am of the Elves of the Aquinnashua," she told him proudly, "as were my parents, grandparents, and all of my ancestors."

Eron tilted his head, and then looked at Shoneah. He also knew pride when he saw it, and knew it would gather them no friends. The chemistry teacher moved between the two, before Shoneah could be further insulted and their saviour further confused.

"We're not from this world," Eron explained quickly, "And we're not sure how we got here. The reason why we look so different is due to the world we're from."
