"Holyshit. The bike I has makes you pedal backwards for brake. Okay. I can do this. Uh." he pressed them a bit, realizing one was for the front and one was for the back brake. He could do this. This wasn't hard. He slowly started to pedal, looking up at the sky. "Yea I guess you're right. We'll just have to pedal extra hard tomorrow. C'mon, we're going to circle around the school then turn them in. Or half the school. This this is really huge. I'm still amazing, y'know?"

Sarad blinked, had Dale really not known what the brakes were? if so, he felt bad for being snippish. "half the school, i don't think we can manage the entire thing. in fact-" he glanced over, "i wouldn't mind just going to the school and back. i'm not fond of this sort of thing." he smiled a bit, "it really is a city in of itself. i love it here, if i had my choice i'd come back and teacher here. stay until i'm old and decrepit. maybe see if they'd bury me somewhere on the grounds." he was panting slightly, even though they really weren't going that fast. "pretty strange ambitions, huh?"

"Half the school it is then!" and continued, smiling pretty brightly, enjoying the breeze and the working of his muscles. At hearing Sarad didn't like bike riding it faltered and shrunk. "Ah, you should've said something." he said, listening to the him and looking forward. "Nah. Mine is still to become a turtle. Or a dog." a small downhill, Dale decided to glide down it.

Sarad shook his head, "it's ok! i didn't mean that i'm not having fun, i am. i just-well, i'm not very physically able. sorry." he gave a small smile, hoping to get Dale's good mood back as they started to go down. "A turtle? might have a hard time with that one. but then again, you're always home so that would be nice."

"That's okay. I guess it is kind of crazy to expect you to ride around the whole school. We have to jog it when one person messes up." Oh look another hill. He'd never been down this path before. Oh sort of steep. Brakes. he moved his pedals back, the chain growling as it had nothing to latch on to, the brakes not being there. A small spark of panic filled his chest. Which one was the back break?! He was going too fast! He squeezed his left one, the wrong one. His front break latched on tightly, the bike halting, back end rising and flipping Dale off, boy flying through the handlebars and making hard contact with the concrete. He wasn't even sure where he hit, everything hurt.

Sarad's heart stopped when he saw Dale end over. "Dale!" he quickly stopped his bike and dropped it as he ran to where his friend lay. "Dale?" oh, thank god his eyes were open. he landed on his back, so the chances of a head injury was less, but that didn't mean he couldn't have broken something. "don't move, ok? just lay there, let me check and see-" he looked over Dale's front and saw his elbows were bleeding as well as a gash on his right forearm that was spilling crimson blood. he pulled out his handkerchief and ripped it in half, one half was tied around the gash and the other half was ripped again and tied around each elbow. "I need you to sit up, ok? if you feel a sharp pain, stop and tell me where so i can check, ok? go slowly-" he put a hand on Dale's shoulder to help steady him and possibly catch him if he fell.

Focus on something but the pain, focus on something but the pain. His brain however was forcing him to catalog it. His knees felt bruised but he was fine, his stomach hurt... The teen rolled onto his back, breathing and focusing on the darkening sky. Oh his arms hurt like ********, he felt something wet. He tasted pennies and his tongue hurt. His jaw hurt. "Not moving. I think I'm dead." he said with a heavy lisp. His arm was grabbed and he hissed, trying to pull it away. Sarad wouldn't let him, bandaging it before slowly sitting him up. His ribs hurt a bit. "My tongue hurts. Did I bite it?" and upon opening his mouth and exposing his tongue, the answer was a definite yes. His entire mouth and his teeth were stained red, chin scraped and bleeding, though not as badly as his bitten tongue. Luckily he didn't bite far back enough to hit the main vein.

Sarad looked into his mouth and nodded, "Yes, you did." he moved behind Dale and carefully ran his hands along the other's back, feeling for anything broken. "it doesn't seem like you broke anything, but i'm not in any way an expert." Dale needed help and soon, he was bleeding too much from too many places, "do you think you can walk?" wouldn't it be better if he got someone on the bike? but that would leave Dale alone and he knew that was a bad, bad idea. there was another option and Sarad knew it was going to be hard, but he didn't have a choice. "alright, we're going to the nurse, but we're going slow, ok? stand up and lean on me, we'll get you there, ok? we'll just take it one step at a time." he moved to Dale's less injured side and placed his back to Dale's chest while holding onto his arm, using his back and legs to support his friend as he stood, "alright, we can do this. let's go slow, ok, Dale?"

Dale had to spit out the next mouthful of blood. "Bluh, ew. I need a bandaid." he finally gathered enough wits to look at his arms and elbows, cringing, the pain suddenly multiplying tenfold. It was all in his head. It only got worse when he saw it. It was all in his head. "I'm going to need a huge bandaid." he said with a chuckle, the movement hurting his chest. "I can walk. I'm fine." But he was shaky, gripping on to Sarad for support, breathing and groaning as his knees gave a yelp. "What about the bikes? I should call the company. That's a dumb place to put brakes." he mumbled.

"I'll take care of the bikes, let's just get you to the nurse," Sarad said, holding Dale up as they walked. it took almost twenty minutes to get to the nurse's office at their slow pace, but they got there. Sarad was exhausted from half carrying Dale, his hair was clinging to him in slick tendrils from sweat. as soon as they were in the twenty-four hour office, the nurses took over. there was a swirl over movement as two came to help Dale to a bed and one checked on Sarad. "I'm fine, he wrecked his bike going downhill," he said, stepping back from her searching hands. "the blood's not mine-" he looked down at himself and really saw how bad he looked. his silk shirt was ruined, more red than ivory now and his pants were close to the same. his only hope was that he wouldn't be punished since he was offering medical aid. he leaned against the wall and watched the women work as they cleaned and checked Dale over, worried about his friend. it had taken too long to get here, he just prayed that the time wouldn't cause any problems.

"But the bikes." he didn't bother fighting, leaning and following Sarad where ever he was directed. His entire body was screaming in pain by the time they got to the nurse's office, and Sarad smelled of sweat and blood, or maybe Dale was just smelling himself. "Who turned on the lights?" he asked as they both staggered in to the office, and the employees heard them and began moving quickly, Dale separating from his friend. It nearly made him panic before realizing that he was still within eyesight. They were checking him for everything, fractures, broken things, wounds. "I pressed the wrong brake." he said. "I felew over the handle bars and, and landed on my arms.' he took a minute to reenact what had happened, making it make sense in his head. "I think. Yea, that happened." And hissed when something liquid went into his wounds via cottonball.

Sarad watched as they worked, feeling a little guilty that he was fascinated to see how they handled some of the wounds. "Stop talking, Dale. you hurt your tongue." he didn't want him to rebite it, and it was better if Dale didn't move as much so the nurses could do their work. "Just focus on me, ok? lay down and focus on me, ok?" he got a nod from the nurse and held Dale's good hand, sitting next to his bed, "we're going to spend our weekend getting you better, ok? you're going to stay in bed and let me take care of you, ok?" he smiled and gave Dale's hand a squeeze, "so long as you don't need to go to the hospital." he looked at the nurse worriedly and she shook her head a little, "but we'll see."

"Focusing, focusing." he was panicked and exhausted all at once and his body didn't know what to do, god he hadn't fallen over a bike since he learned how to ride one. He followed Sarad before looking at the hand holding his, being further distracted as a nurse continued to clean out a wound. "That's a lot of itty bitty rocks." he murmured, looking back at Sarad. "But I'm fine. it's just a cut. Just a teeny cut." it wasn't a teeny cut, and the nurse had to silence him by lifting his head to work on his chin. It took a a minute or two, cleaning it out, sterilizing it and putting a bandage on it before inspecting his tongue. There wasn't much they would do about a bite, and it wasn't deep enough to require any stitches. Another ten to fifteen minutes, checking his legs and knees and anything else he might've hurt, fractured or bruised before he was being sent home. "I think," he said slowly, "my tongue is swollen, and these pain meds are harsh."

Sarad smiled a little, "hurting your stomach? bread helps, we'll see if we can find you some when we get back to the dorms. ok?" he'd have to call the bike company and let them know, once he'd gotten Dale into bed, he'd go back and take the bikes to the station. "they warned the meds might make you tired, so straight to bed after we get back. you need to rest." they reached the dorms and were stared at by students returning to their rooms. Sarad blushed, but kept his eyes down as he walked to the stairs, "i think i've some bread left over in the room, let's just hurry there, ok?"

"No, no my tongue is swollen." he repeated, trying his best to enunciate each word. "I don't think I can eat bread like this let alone sauce." they were in the hallway now and Dale was having a hard time concentrating on his feet. he felt heavy and floaty all at once. "I don't like sleeping when I'm drugged up. What if I die in my sleep?" he asked, bruised face looking over at his friend. "I can fall asleep you have to stay with me in case I die."
