((How did you guys BOTH beat my fortitude DCs to a pulp?? xd And THANK YOU Naomi for the first tactical move of the mission! )) Take down the thiefDodge DC: 25 Mizuiro's attempt: d20 [17] + MAB [8] = 25 Success! Grabbing the dropped lootSleight of Hand DC: 5 (Get the bag!) Shiro's attempt: d20 [6] + Sleight of Hand [0] + Dex Mod [2] = 8 Success! Reward for Group (4 members): (50 + 10) / 4 = 15 XP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The thief can hardly believe what manner of monsters are chasing him. Both took his glass dust straight to the face and managed to keep going as though nothing had happened. Lucky for him they would not be able to keep this up much longer at least... Hoping he has enough time to grab his stuff and limp away, he is surprised to see a nimble shinobi dressed in blue beat him to the satchel he had taken from that obnoxious man and is even more surprised when a chain snaps at his ankles, tripping him to the ground.
Realizing that his fall had most likely cost him the precious seconds he'd need to get the content of the bag that had just fell to the ground, he decides his life is more valuable than a stupid red vial and attempts to make one last run for it. At least the cloud of dust would prevent that "sniper" from taking out his other leg...----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- StrategyMultiple Basic Clones: +5 to Athletics checks to run him down. Since the caster is most likely pretty much incapacitated right now from the dust, the thief knows that the five standing shinobis are most likely copies; but the hesitation might be just what the others need to take him down. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Option 1He's fast; but not that much with a perforated quadricep and sprained ankle. Run after the thief and bring him down before he has a chance to vanish into the crowd. No way that guy attacks your client and gets away with it that easy! Athletics DC: 30 - Succesful Ranged Attack Penalty [10] - Succesful Melee Attack Penalty [10] = 10 Success: Run him down and tackle him to the ground, he's not getting away this time! Failure: Lose sight of him in the crowd NOTE: Shiro and Mizuiro cannot chase him down, that powder has finally caught up with them... Reward: 60 XP + 1 to AthleticsOption 2Let that guy go... You got what you need back and he's probably had a rough childhood or something... Reward: Conclude mission step, choice may have ramifications later on.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Various strategies may influence the DCs and experience gained from succeeding this step.

Jinichi Iwao LV. 5 Hp: 50 / Cp: 65 / MHp: 50 Jinichi let out an audible sigh as his teammates failed to actually capture the thief. He hated getting physical, but he would do it to take this guy down, permanently. Though he wasn't particularly athletic, Jinichi was able to run down the wounded man fairly easily, tackling him to the ground, and holding his senbon right above his spine. He leaned down to whisper into the man's ear. "Try to run, and I swear you'll never move your legs again." He said with cool determination, as he pressed his senbon into his back threateningly.

Uchiha SakurayukiTAB TAB▬▬▬▬▬TABHp ღ MHp ღ CpTB50/50 | 50/50 | 60/60TAB TAB▬▬▬▬▬ Sakura made a quick dash towards the thief, but in truth, if it hadn't been for the split second hesitation of their target from the bunshin that Shiro had made, she wouldn't have made it there. Yuki dashed forward to where Jinichi had already taken care of the thief and gave a short sigh of relief. With Jinichi there, she wouldn't have to face this man by herself. And with the other two stopped by whatever this man had thrown into the air, it wouldn't have been a pretty fight. Yuki checked to see that Jinichi had taken control over the situation and headed over to where the Hoshigaki and Shiro were, helping the two up.

Athletics DC: 30 - Succesful Ranged Attack Penalty [10] - Succesful Melee Attack Penalty [10] = 10 Jinichi's attempt: d20 [16] + Athletics [2] + Multiple Bunshin Bonus [5] = 23 Sakurayuki's attempt: d20 [6] + Athletics [0] + Multiple Bunshin Bonus [5] = 11 Success! Reward for Group (4 members): 60 / 4 = 15 XP + 1 Athletics ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At that point, the poor thief didn't expect much about his chances of making it away. In merely a few seconds of limping towards the crowd, he is tackled to the ground, with one of his pursuers resting on top of him and threatening to perforate his spine if he tries to move.
"Come now guys, I'm sure there's a way we can settle this peacefully!", he says in a desperate attempt to escape with his life and dignity intact.
As the thief desperately tries to barter with you, your client runs to your location, yelling and waving his arms as he usually does. "With what you'd shown me so far I would have doubted you'd be able to catch a turtle running away with my entire caravan; but I'm sure glad you chose now to prove that my money did not COMPLETELY go to waste!", he says, letting you remain unsure if this was actually his way of making you a compliment. Seeing his belongings on the ground and no one having picked them up, he rushes to them and tucks them in his cloak, visibly trying to conceal his concern that those items had flown out of his satchel.
"Now, I heard that dimwitted shark teacher of yours forbid you from killing anyone; but I'm just asking you to stay on top of him and look the other way while I take care of business myself. He'll never know what happened." he explains, pulling out a mint, polished silver dagger. "Let me do this and I guarantee there's something in that bag with your name on it you will definitely not want to pass on."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Option 1He's the client after all, and you know the saying about who knows best. Look the other way while he does his thing, it's unlikely Hiru is anywhere near close enough to see you allowed the merchant to do it. Reward: Finish step, get merchant's reward.Option 2You're pretty certain your teacher isn't COMPLETELY oblivious, and he is kinda scary. Better respect the mission's rules and guidelines and signal Hiru about your catch, this will certainly leave a good impression. That's a reward in itself right? Reward: Conclude mission step.Option 3That merchant is the most obnoxious man you've ever met, or at least very close to. You've done your job by getting all of his belongings back, and that's all he had actually paid for. Ticking him off by letting the thief go would give you a bit of satisfaction and would make what you went through to get him almost worth it. Plus, that thief's probably had a rough childhood or something... Reward: Conclude mission step.OptionalShould you be reading something into this? Sense Motive DC: 16 Reward: 32 XP + 1 Sense Motive.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Various strategies may influence the DCs and experience gained from succeeding this step. You may all attempt the optional objective before coming to a decision.

Mizuiro was not pleased with the Merchant, first he puts them down, and then he suggests killing the thief. That wasn't cool at all. The thief may have stolen something, but killing him wasn't right, especially since Hiru ordered them not to kill, and letting the merchant kill the thief would be just the same as doing it themselves. "No one is killing him." Mizuiro struggled to say, as his eyes burned. The world was blurry right now, as he tried to walk over towards the sounds of the merchant's voice and the struggling thief. Jinichi seemed to be on top of him, but he wasn't even sure. He couldn't really see, and the pain was distracting him from his ability to concentrate and figure out if anything weird was going on other then the merchant wanting to murder the thief. "Maybe we should let him go, he must have learned his lesson. What do you guys think?" Looking aimlessly around for the others as he asked this.7 (d20) + 3 (Sense Motive) = 10. Failed. Seduction DC: 15 Batsu's attempt: d20 [1] + Seduction [0] = 1 Failure! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The woman looks away for a while when she hears your question about the possible origin of the affliction. "I... don't know. She simply came home one day and lost consciousness, I was never told what had happened."----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- StrategyUsing medical ninjutsu: Add [(Medical Ninjutsu - 10) / 2] to Treat Injury check. Your medical ninjutsu skill is pretty much the reason why the old woman called you to her rescue after all! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 2Attempt to treat the affliction, this one is not going to be easy... Treat Injury DC: 45 (Stabilize the girl's condition) Treat Injury DC: 60 (Cure the girl's condition) Success (45): Give the girls a fighting chance of making it out alive, over time... Success (60): Cure the girl's condition entirely. NOTE: Add all acquired bonuses to your roll. Reward: 90 XP or 120 XP, depending on level of success.OptionalSomething's fishy here... Sense Motive DC: 20 Reward: 20 XP----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Additional tactics may affect your roll, it is strongly suggested that they be considered for these objectives. Simply post your character thinking about a possible tactic for its possible effect to be posted.

Uchiha SakurayukiTAB TAB▬▬▬▬▬TABHp ღ MHp ღ CpTB50/50 | 50/50 | 60/60TAB TAB▬▬▬▬▬ Yuki forced a smile on her face at their client's.. ah.... approval at the team's success, but that soon dropped as she realized what was going to happen next. Sakura was a bit queasy about this. They had caught the thief, sure, but she really didn't want to needlessly kill. Besides, hadn't their sensei told them specifically not to? She shook her head in disbelief when the merchant continued to try and convince them to 'look the other way'. The movement was so small that he wouldn't have seen, but Sakura kept silent, scrutinizing the merchant's brash behavior. If no one else was stepping up however, then she was definitely going to stop him. This captive was now a valuable source of information, not to mention they were in a city with eyes looking at the commotion.. or so she rationalized. It was more like she was too much in awe of their new sensei (and that practice lesson he promised, un!) to go against his words. But whatever.

Jinichi Iwao LV. 5 Hp: 50 / Cp: 65 / MHp: 50 Jinichi pulled back a little on the senbon, as the thief now seemed quite willing to comply. Soon though the annoying merchant came over, asking to be allowed to kill the thief himself. "Hiru-sama said we are not allowed to kill anyone, those are the mission parameters, I will not break them." He said in his cool, calm voice as he turned his senbon towards the merchant. "Hiru-Sama will decide what we do with him." He added, as he judged the merchant's reaction. What was he hiding?

He wanted to help as much as he could but it felt like he was the only one, despite the tears from the woman. Here this girl was ailing and all the woman could say was that the girl came home and passed out? There were no warning signs at all for this poor girl? And how convenient did it sound that after the poisoning she managed to make it home before succumbing? Batsu looked up at the woman with an eyebrow raised as he continued to help the girl. Sense Motive DC: 20 Inechi's attempt: d20 [10] + Sense Motive [10] = 20 Success! Reward for Group (4 members): 20 / 4 = 5 XP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is fairly subtle, but as you analyze the way these two are looking at each other, something let's you think they're not complete strangers. It's obvious they don't like each other; but you feel the merchant might have an ulterior motive in wanting this thief terminated...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OptionalStep 1The person that has found this hint can try to communicate it to the others so that they have a clue what's going on. However, doing it discretely might prevent the merchant from going on the defensive... For Inechi:Innuendo DC: 15 Success: Deliver the message to the others without the Merchant realizing it. -5 to DC for all attempts at getting information from him afterwards... by those who actually understood what you meant. Failure: The Merchant gets that you're trying to get him to spill the beans, goes on the defensive. +5 to DC for all attempts to get information. NOTE: You can just tell everyone out loud that you are suspicious and take the penalty... Reward: 30 XP.For the others:Sense Motive DC: Beat Inechi's Innuendo check. (-5 for Sakurayuki because of familiarity) Success: Understand Inechi's message can attempt to get information from the merchant. Failure: You remain completely oblivious to all that babbling... didn't you just pass a restaurant? Reward: 30 XP.Step 2Those with an idea what's going on can try to subtlely extract information from the merchant... doing so will require delicate social maneuvering though... Intimidation DC: 20 Seduction DC: 23 (15 for Sakurayuki, again, because she's the only cute one) Diplomacy DC: 18 NOTE: Every failed attempt will increase all DCs by 2 for the next. Reward: Varies depending on chosen approach.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Various strategies may influence the DCs and experience gained from succeeding this step.
