Trapped as he was, Athene was pretty much a sitting duck for the bright glare of light that was the next thing that Shade Queen sent in their direction.

And with his eyes blinded by light spots, he was unable to see the boomerang that clonked him on the head - well okay it mostly hit hair - but it still hurt.

About the only good thing was the fact that after being clunked by the boomerang the restraints pinning his leg seemed mysteriously gone, leaving him free to move.

Just as well too as a Shade was closing in to attack him. He did his best to kick at the thing when it got close enough, but his eyes were still full of light spot which meant that he didn't even graze the thing.

He just hoped both Nysa and that silver-haired super senshi were managing to fare better than him.

The sudden light attack took him by surprise, but the glare of the light had not been too bad - not to say he hadn't been affected - he'd ended up with a few spots in his eye, but they had been shaken off easily enough.

Maybe he shouldn't have congratulated his 'victory' too soon though as something struck him hard in the back sending him forward a couple of steps. He kept his feet though and tried to use the forward momentum to swing at the Shade still attacking him.

Although again the damned thing managed to avoid it with almost laughing ease.

All her grumbling and cussing was, in retrospect, not her brightest idea. She'd continued to travel towards the lake, to where she'd last seen Ganymede. Couldn't spot Valhalla, but she'd been willing to bet following the girl he was looking for would get her back near the guy she knew.

Even if that meant wandering closer to the queen b***h. Ugh.

Her hands had only just lowered from her face, eyes scrunched up against the popping white lights from the flash, when she was propelled forward. Hard. To the ground. With an unmistakable pain in her lower back. Themiscyra choked on her breath, scrambling to a crouch as she stared up at... her? Wow that was many, many forms of creepy. "Ah s**t--"

"Checkmate, b***h."

"--the clone does not get to utilize the original's lines!" Yeah ok, so a little part of her was preening. She had an evil clone! Grayed out and bitchy, but a clone! Like this hasn't been done a million times in comics. On that level, this was pretty cool.

But the fact her clone was closing on her, and Themiscyra was still on the ground, did not sit very well on a rather fundamental part of Danika's psyche. So she got back up. Met her clone foot for foot. And held zip back as she slammed her fist into her Shade's gut. Got a fist to her cheek, but hey. Worth it. Especially when she managed to ram her knee up into the doubled over Shade's chin, too. Hey even with blurry vision. Fighter was a fighter! And yeah this was so much more therapeutic than hockey.

Somewhere over the growing sounds of brawling there around her--the clone was pissed, and growling, and cussing--she could hear Valhalla. It was only around that point that she realized she'd managed to wander pretty close to the lake. Uh. Success? "Over here, man!" She ducked under a sucker punch, putting a little room between herself and the Shade. Gave her a quick moment to glance up and see Valhalla was with Ganymede. "Took you long enough to find her!" And got tackled to the ground by her clone for her distraction. Oh damn.

Zircon had all these grandiose plans about marching right up to the Shade Queen, regardless of the water in the way, and giving her a piece of her mind. Those were her weapons, and she wasn't even using them properly! It wasn't as if Zircon herself had had any success with actually harming anyone with a set of paper airplanes, but it was the principle of the thing. No one was allowed to use her embarrassing excuse of a weapon except for her.

The lieutenant jogged right up to the water's edge, ready to execute her plan with all haste, when all of a sudden a blinding light tore across her vision. She tried to drop her shades down from her forehead, but it was much too late, and she only succeeded in cloaking the entire area in total darkness. Nevertheless, this only proved to make her even angrier, and she hissed in rage as she summoned her little airplanes, the genuine article.

"Take this, you b***h!" shouted Zircon, lobbing both of her airplanes blindly. She was aiming for the Queen, but at this rate she'd be lucky if she hit anything. At least she wasn't hit by the summoned boomerang, that would have been the ultimate insult to injury.

A hint of a grin seemed to spread across Iris' face as her attack managed to hit the lead-Shade. However, it seemed as if she might have infuriated the b*tch a bit more than she was already.

Amidst all the screeching, one statement seemed to stand out.

"Never again shall I wander!"

Such a statement seemed to reach to her memories of the Silver Millennium. Her whole world was raised to wander, and Iris had even more opportunity to wander than most, hopping from world to world to perform.

Perhaps it was the momentary dwelling upon the past that had left her vulnerable to the rather sudden flash.

"...well... sh*t..." she huffed a bit as she brought up an arm to attempt shading her vision. It might have been fortunate, for rather suddenly she felt the impact of something (her vision was kind of messed up, how was she to know it was a boomerang?!) against her arm.

After the momentary onslaught to her senses, the eternal senshi tightened her fist.

"So yer playin' this way now? Fine..."

She once more lashed out with her rainbow still burning bright in the general direction which the lead-Shade had been before. It wouldn't be an accurate shot, but at least she could hope that no others would be in the line of fire.

Gamymede both did and did not want to be pulled back. She was not normally the sort to place herself at the center of such a large fray; rather, she valued her safety as well as that of her friends and family, and typically made much more of an effort in seeing that they were safe than she did in throwing herself so carelessly before the enemy. She couldn't afford to be careless; there were too many things left to accomplish in her life, to many people she care about, and too many things to see those people accomplish in theirs.

But there was a part of her that wanted to remain. A small part, usually buried, that rose up to urge her forward. She'd never cared to prove anything to anyone, and in any case she was sure her efforts went largely unnoticed (which she faced with equal parts frustration and relief), but certainly she felt the need to prove things to herself, to overcome what faults and failures she could, to move beyond them. She had spent too long questioning her abilities, when all along she'd had it in herself to be... not extraordinary (that was too boastful a claim even for her), but suitable.

Yet Valhalla pulled her back, and after a brief struggle Ganymede let him, for his restraining arms around her reminded her that there were others deserving of her attention. She turned within his arms to find comfort there, and in briefly closing her eyes and pressing her face to Valhalla's shoulder managed to avoid the worst of the flash of light.

"I'm sorry," she said, and meant to apologize for leaving Themiscyra on her own (however briefly), but the effort to explain herself was thwarted when a boomerang struck her hard across the back.

She'd meant to pull away from Valhalla (the battlefield was no place for such displays), but the impact was jarring. She shouted in surprise and pain; her knees buckled and she was knocked forward, colliding with the hard, unforgiving armor that protected Valhalla's chest.

((Rolling to see if the flash hits Hara and Realgar))
((Realgar: 35 HP))- First Die
((Hara 39 HP))- Second Die
--------------

Realgar managed to throw up an arm to shield himself just barely in the nick of time, largely avoiding being blinded by this new attack, though even he was left with spots in his vision as he cursed under his breath. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Iris again, hurling attacks toward the center of the lake in fury, though he wasn't entirely sure of her aim this time.
This was, irritatingly, even more frustrating than dealing with his own Shade.

------

Hara blamed her brief burst of enthusiasm for battle for her blindness, the flicker of motion drew her attention at once, and instead of having the chance to look away, she found herself looking almost directly at the flash of light as it flashed across the gathered fighters, leaving her vision a blur of light and dark and indistinct shapes as her eyes attempted to recover.

HP-35

Although he still had spots in his vision, his eyes were more clear than they might have been, and his dander was definitely up, which is what prompted him to actually pull his own weapon and, hoping to luck and maybe a good stiff breeze to help his throwing arm hurled Caltrops at the Queen.

((Rolling for Hara's attack))
HP 39

Still reeling and all but blind, Hara lashed out wildly, hoping to hit anything at all. She was quickly tipping into panic, which made it a danger that she might hit allies instead of enemies in her attempt to blindly defend herself, but never the less she fought, afraid to wait for her eyes to clear lest she be overwhelmed, so she attacked, hoping to hit the nearest shade with fist or foot

((ooc: Hara's really freaking out a bit, it's possible she might hit something that isn't a shade. OOPS.))

The flash took Amethyst by surprise, his vision momentarily impaired as he reflexively took a few steps back and ducked for cover, narrowly avoiding being hit by the boomerang that struck the tree trunk and landed harmlessly onto the ground. He picked it up, blinking a few times to try to get the bright spots in his field of vision to go away.

It didn't quite achieve the desired effect but at least it did clear up some and allowed him to see the Shade that was still attacking Falias relentlessly. He wouldn't be able to reach the Page in time to assist him but something else would. "Duck!" He called out in warning, his arm swinging back before he released the boomerang and sent it flying towards the Shade, smiling to himself when he saw it hit the darn thing squarely on the side of its head.

Bingo.

Varuna struggled with her clone, scrapping at its arms with her nails, and trying to kick it away from her, but its hold around her neck was too strong, and the pleased smile it wore was too startling for her to shake.

A sudden flash of light lit up the area, and she felt the shade pull away, having gotten the brunt of the attack. Taking the chance to escape, Varuna drew back up to her feet, but even then she wasn’t prepared for the boomerang that hit her against her side. The wind was knocked right out of her lungs and once again she was struggling to find an escape from the clone who seemed to want nothing more than to kill her.

(If, uh… anyone wants to help out a newbie senshi from getting killed by her clone, you should totally quote me. v___v; <3 )

Valhalla breathed a sigh of relief as he managed to get Ganymede to move away from the Queen, ducking his head down to try and avoid the flash of light as Ganymede hid her face against his shoulder. The words this woman was saying was a bit startling, but not surprising. Why else would she be trying to kill everyone if she didn’t want to take over the world? But why?

His thoughts lingered for too long, and he caught a glimpse of the boomerang a moment too late, gasping in horror as Ganymede was struck by the object. “s**t,” he hissed, holding onto her to keep her upright. “I’m sorry, I should have been able to stop it,” he moaned, practically dragging her away from the threat of being hit again so he could look her over.

When he did, he didn’t like what he saw. She was paler than usual and obviously weak and out of breath. Her fuku was torn up and dirty and there were cuts and the start of bruising all over her legs — her tights all but torn to shreds. “What the hell, baby??” he asked softly, but his eyes were full of alarm and worry. He regretted not getting there sooner to help support her, but she didn’t need to fight alone any longer.

“Hold still,” he told her, grabbing onto the train of red fabric with black ruffles that attached to the back of her outfit, widening a tear close to the top so he could better rip it off. There was still some left, but even with attempting to bustle it up, there were too many chances for it to get snagged. His own cape was removed soon after, left on the ground where it would disappear once he powered down.

But there was no more time he could spend on making sure Ganymede was as okay as she could be, seeing as Themiscyra was having trouble with her own shade. “Hang on!” he called to her as he moved to usher Ganymede in the same direction… but a sudden, increasingly familiar sensation overtook him, and instead of moving forward towards the other knight, his legs betrayed him and he ended up with a mouthful of leaves and dirt as his own clone decided to join in on the fun.

———————————————————————————————

Quite comfortable and rather giddy about being perched up on Sessrumnir’s shoulder, Oberon nodded towards the woman who obviously knew his brother. “I’m Oberon, senshi of adventure!” he greeted with a grin, figuring he should probably introduce himself at some point. He was content sitting up high, hanging onto Sessrumnir’s head as he observed everything going on around them.

Of course, when there was a huge flash of light, Oberon let out a cry of distress, rubbing frantically at his eyes. “Ahhhh, I’m blind!” he whined, clearly distraught over the new development. “This is horrible! How can I do anything now?? I can’t play video games or hunt for treasure!! It’s not worth living without being able to see, just leave me here to die!” he cried in agony, leaning against his brother’s head with the sound of exaggerated sobs.

But that didn’t last long as that large boomerang that didn’t hit Metis found its target — him. The chibi senshi let out a real cry of pain now, and was all but pulled down from Sessrumnir’s shoulder to be tucked under his arm.

HP: 34 - 7 = 27/40

His expression now clearly more distraught than before his brother had been hit, Sessrumnir placed his arm around the child, keeping him as close to him as possible — this time using himself as a human shield in case any other attacks came their way.

Being blinded was not nearly as distressing as knowing that he wasn’t able to stop his kid brother from getting hurt, and when the Negaverse General approached him, he turned to assess him. His sight was blurred but he could recognize the man from encounters before.

Blood running cold, he straightened and gave the man a piercing look. If this were any other circumstance, he would have no problem turning the lance on the General as payback for what he’d almost done to his other brother. But he didn’t dare mention it because now they had more important things to worry about than things like revenge.

“Keep him safe,” he requested as he turned to Metis, ushering the small, now quietly crying child towards her. He would probably have a huge bruise from that boomerang, but at least he hadn’t been injured even more.
