Simply had been a bit to busy with the booth to arrive for the course. Which was an absolute shame. Shame on her. She'd have to work EXTRA hard on the other events to make up. Sporting her bright red and gold monster colors she happily strode out to the main area, waving to a few folks she knew before being ushered into her cube.

And... was that paper... and a pencil and...

She'd come back for a TEST!? OH THAT WAS NO GOOD! "I DON'T WANNA!" Sadly, her protests were of little use as she was kept to her corner and flopped down to stare at the sheets. Something about... history. Not that she got to worry over it much before she smelled smoke, and then realized....

WHY WAS HER TAIL ON FIRE?

Rather than writing in answers she spent most of that section running around and putting out her fur, which... didn't help her score. Or maybe it did. She didn't have a chance to bomb the test worse.

Sadly that was not to be the end of her woes. As soon as she ripped open the math test, happy to see things were actually simplified enough for even her. Two plus two DID equal five, right?

Sadly, that didn't last. She quickly found herself dozing off as the room filled with an unknown gas, and it was the ending timer that woke her up. Woops.

Uh well, there were other tests. The next test was about those fascinating humans! She could do this! And it was even in code! That only made it more fun as she spent a good bit of time answering and unraveling things. Perhaps, if more of the test was like that, she'd have actually paid attention. Maybe more lesson plans should have been in that matter. Well what was next though?

Literature? ...she hadn't opened a book in a while. This might have been hard, it might have. If she hadn't fallen into a bottomless pit(alright not bottomless) and spent most of the test dragging and clawing her way out. She did manage to write in 'I like when people read me books.' before the test ended. Which scored a few points.

And as the last part of the test came up she found that... she had a piece of wood. Yes wood for a part of her test. Which she took to chewing on thoughtfully as she scribbled in answers. Apparently that helped her focus a bit, but she lost some points for a page of her test never coming back.

Still, for Simply, that was an amazing performance on a test. EVEN SHE COULD DO THIS!

Sadly, Aki had gotten a bit... lost. He'd been working to find his way to the main area, following the noise and trying to make his way through the crowds, but due to that he'd missed the first event. Being short and new to school wasn't helping.

It also didn't help asking for directions over the din was even harder. Still, he'd finally made it! And in time for this second event-chamacallit. SO HE WAS READY!

Or so he thought. Races. Tests of strength... that stuff he'd have been ok at. But this was hard. He was shoved in a box area with a test that he couldn't read. This was no good at all.

It got worse too. He'd only just sat down and begun reading out the words slowly and trying to figure it out when the floor gave way and he found himself falling into a pit with a shriek. He ended up spending most of the test climbing out and drew a few smiles and things on the test in the last moments in hopes of a few points. Which... somehow worked.

YAY FOR ARTISTIC ABILITY!

The next part was... somehow worse. And yet... numbers. He could count. He'd figured out those symbols and what they meant as there was only so much one could do with numbers. Thus, he was working away happily, completing missing the sections that were in code. He didn't quite grasp what it was enough to realize he was completely getting that wrong.

Oh well.

Next came... something. He wasn't sure. The words were all foreign or too big. So he just started scribbling on the test again, drawing smiles and such like a child would. At least he was getting practice with the writing utensil. Though... he noticed toward the end that someone was peeking over the wall, and the two merely stared.

...had they noticed he was just drawing faces? Hopefully they didn't copy his test, that would be bad. For them.

Then came literature. Oddly enough, it was a picture book, about... someone named Excalibur... who was there to protect and these different colors and types. Hey, the voice had said something about this. THIS HE KNEW! And so he drew pictures of the things, adding a few big X's near the Revenge part. Because that wasn't for him, right?

It was the only part of the test he'd understood, and somehow he aced it.

And then he was starting the last test, which sort of smelled yummy. Probably too yummy, as his desk suddenly snapped up a page of his test and his hand along with it as he started to work on it. That did not help with drawing pictures on his test.

Eventually he got most of the test back. They might have given him some points for 'desk ate my exam' excuses. Because he was being honest.

Still, at least he'd done his best?

Thezil stared at the chop quiz, blunt nails tapping against the desk. He was bad at school and he'd barely even begun, but perhaps that was for the best. His TV buzzed lightly, an external acknowledgement of his thinking.

Hands moving of their own accord, he whizzed through the first section, despite the code. You are part machine, now, even if it only serves a symbolic purpose. You are the ghost in the machine, except you are not a ghost.

You are dead, and your mind can't seem to let you forget it. Being dead doesn't bother you, except when you wonder how you got to be without a head to start with.

These are the things you wonder as you blithely fill in the blanks and draw circles in bubbles.

Next section. Thezil's mind is far from rigid, more a spaghetti mass of concerns, of blank apathy coupled with rage in a fierce and unpredictable dichotomy. Stark numbers against paper, cold calculations in his head.

Perfection rested upon his desk after completion, and he took it as a compliment to his work.

Human world, studies, however. He merely gets mad, and that blind rage takes over as he scribbles in the results without seeing, angry static popping from his speakers. A student looks over and the imagery of something being snapped in two appears on his telescreen, without a sound.

The student looks away, paled. But then again, it's a vampire, so who knew for sure.

Literature was something unbeknownst to him, but the golden glowing returned and served as a buffer.

The code comes back for the final section, but he's cracked it once and can do it again, so he does.

Perhaps it was lucky that Levi had happened on West at that time. Slinking down with an unwavering glance of suspicion despite his head shaking, Levi's behind would once again be in her own chair. With math done, she turned the page to- Human Studies? Ah, yes. She and West had gone shopping in the human world and seen some of the items listed her- why is this whole page just a list of items? Giving it a good two or five minutes of staring, the tatzel concluded this might very well have been a list of items intended for purchasing goods in the human world. Just to play it safe, this being a test and all, the ghoul took her pencil to the paper and wrote out the following at the bottom: Yea, these are all from the human world.
There, that would cover her.

The rest seemed pretty typical of her studies. Surprisingly, Levi got through this section rather quickly. Or perhaps it wasn't so surprising given she'd been beyond the door multiple times at this point. There was a sense of personal satisfaction in her memories of this; it wouldn't have been possible had she stayed home and not come to Amityville for her schooling.

The warm fuzzies were popped out of mind, quite literally, when Levi came face to fist with the knuckles of someone beside her. Clutching onto the desk just in time to avoid falling over with her chair, the tatzel would first give an involuntary low hiss in response to the collision's sting on her jaw. Looking at the boil as if to say WHAT THE JACK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!, Levi would realize then that this was no boil student. It was an enraged alumni member of which she did not recognize. The bulky built superior growled down at Levi, almost taunting her to take him on. There was no indication of why he'd chosen to attack her out of everyone here or why he'd attacked at all in the first place. Defensively taking on a posture suitable for ducking and dodging, the tatzel looked back at her paper and then back at her foe only to get a click of sudden inspiration.

Ahh... this must be a part of the test!

Maybe the others just hadn't gotten to this part yet? Now she was grinning; inhaling for this section's performance, Levi casually tucked her chair into her desk, turned, and lunged at her partner for the dynamic literature quiz. Instead of writing down poetic verse, the ghoul would loudly and aggressively site a familiar literary ditty whilst kicking the alumni member in the ribs.

So this was a real literature test...

He watched her disappear back behind the partition separating them, then slowly looked down at his paper once more. Something was missing. Where had his pen gone? West picked up his quiz to peer beneath it and ducked his head under the desk searching for the thing, but there was nothing there. The boil was about to get up and abandon this whole task when he felt something damp flick against the back of his neck. If that creepy graduate was back, he was going to...

West turned to face whatever was licking him, fist clenched and ready to punch. He snorted when he saw that his pen had morphed into a mutant all of a sudden, but he didn't hesitate. His knuckles slammed into the snake's jaw, and within seconds, the creature was back to its normal size, lying in a dazed heap on the floor. What had brought that on? It had been ages since West had used a pen that was alive, but he didn't remember them going all super sized like that. He shrugged. It didn't matter, really.

"Okay..." he sighed, taking his seat again and flipping over another page of his test. This section was on literature, but the next couple of questions didn't look like any of the minuscule number of literary things he had seen before. West began to read, pronouncing the unfamiliar words as best he could, at least until his body was taken over by some unknown force. When he came back to himself, the entire section was filled in and there were the distinct sounds of a tussle coming from Levi's cubicle. It was his turn to peer over the edge, watching as she thoroughly trounced her strange attacker.

Maybe it was the fact that she was attacking back, or that she'd taken to mispronouncing sonnets while doing so, but the alumni member raised a brow while blocking, opting to pick on another lowly student and fleeing the scene.

When Levi looked back toward her paper, a skip in her step for having done so well on the literature section, she took note of those horns against a bright-haired backdrop. Smirking, she gave the boil a thumbs up. Yeah, she aced that part; she knew it.

West had already been grinning at her rhythmic chanting, and as he returned her thumbs up, the boil tried to keep his smile from widening. Now was not the time, although he had every intention of asking her why she never recited sparring poetry for him once they got out of here.

He dropped back into his seat, easily filling in a number of answers on the final section of his exam before reaching a question that made him pause. It was a recipe with several blank spots in it, a recipe he found he was somewhat familiar with. It wasn't an exact copy of the one he had seen, but the principles were the same. As he filled in the blanks, the air around him began to smell of spookies, the spookies that he and Levi had made together last Christmas. He wasn't sure where the odor had come from or why it lingered, but it was a fine accompaniment to the rest of the exam, even if he got all the answers wrong.

I've never hear a quiz accompanied by so many screams! Amityville doesn't play around when it comes to education! Knowledge can be a dangerous thing, but it looks like not knowing is even deadlier!
Let's see how ANN WALPURGIS IS DOING...she's doing DECENTLY. Nothing too suspicious going on, but don't be fooled, ANNA WALPURGIS WE ARE WATCHING YOU.
It looks like BOTH Van Rotte's are doing well, as can only be expected! Nobody knows brains like zombies know brains! You are what you eat, right folks?!

It looks like the previous loss has the Demon Dorm putting their all into this one if Tomoko the Kitsune is anything to go by!

It looks like someone else is doing well, who is that ghoul?! It's...yes, it's Miasma Aricia! Fluttering out of nowhere on wings of knowledge! Lovely ghoul!

And...it looks like another ghoul is shining with the power of intellect, although SHINING wouldn't be quite the word for one of Halloween Town's favored debutantes, Obsidian Depths!

Who will the winner be? Which dorm has proven themselves the smartest? The judges are tallying as we speak! During the wait be sure to visit the booths and leave your feedback! And don't forget to turn in your tickets for special prizes!

the ooc

The quiz is now closed and being tallied for dorm results! Individual scores are here! If you see a mistake, please contact me (lizbot) asap! Results will be up tomorrow night, and the next event will begin Sunday!

If you did not roll: ICly your character either didn't attend, or they were not able to complete the quiz.
If you rolled but didn't fill out the form: your character was disqualified, probably on a petty or obscure technicality.
