He didn't listen to her, well for once he wasn't going to listen to her. Because he was going to try this with a little more flair (he could only imagine her face palming at this). But he stepped a little away from the stubborn harpoon, spun a little and kicked. The thing rattled, and seemed to move a little more than it had previously. Haha, totally worked.

"We have," Sherry nodded to the tall trainee. It had been rather miserable, too. "If we can avoid it again, that would be great."

For her part, she took a step back, blinking her eyes and clearing her head. Rune matching was work, and after a time, everything started blending together. Which was no help at all.

"See, just like that," Sherry grinned as the gun was charged and fired. "Good work." Now...they just had to do it again, or something.

She let her gaze settle on the monster attacking them and she sighed. Another day, another thing attacking the island. At least some things never changed.

He didn't try the spinning kick thing again, it hurt his foot a little (and he was wearing sandels after all), so this time he slammed into it with his shoulder.

He gave it another shove. This was getting tiring.

Alright, harpoon, work with him here. It seemed like it was on its last wire, but just didn't seem to want to budge and finally fly with all its friends. Milo gave it a long good stare before he backed himself up once last time and gave it another spinning kick. Something seemed to finally click and spring, because finally it was launched out and at the giant creature that had swallowed him.

< Jack, that took forever.... you're a terrible shot >

It wasn't the most glorious shot, but it was satisfying. Enough to make the teen grin. "Okay... sitting down now," hopefully no one would mind too much as his shaky knees gave out from under him and brought him to the ground next to the large weapon. Milo sighed and brushed a hand through his hair, only to find resistance in the form of ooze. He pulled his hand back, stared at it and then finally took a moment to assess exactly how covered he was.

Robert, under the full impression that he'd just poisoned the monster into throwing himself and all of the others it'd eaten out with glowstick goo, just laid on the ground for a moment, covered in guts and glory, and stared up at the stars.

"Nice night to be almost digested."

He heard the voices of others coming closer, and pulled off his slimed jacket, sitting up groggily. "Guys, did you know monster stomachs are really roomy? And yet apparently still pretty much disgusted by that drink you made me, Mimsy." He wiped his hands across his face, and stared up at Leon, his brow furrowed in confusion.

"Yeah, you know me and holes." He muttered, tugging at his shirt to pull the stickiness away from his body. "Is it dead?"

Of course it wasn't dead, it was perfectly fine, and about to destroy everything. So, business as usual.

He stood up, patted Leon's shoulder, and hugged Mimsy possessively around the waist. "Well, goddamnit, let's go kick it's a**."

Despite previous events that might indicate otherwise, Mimsy had a strong feeling that Shiloh would do just fine from here. He had his boots back now, after all, and she had recently learned that whimsical rainboots apparently improved physical skill.

"Just one, preferably. But thank you." She waved in return to Shiloh's salute and looked back towards the diminishing pile of regurgitated humans. Robert sat up and spoke to them not long afterward, and she spent the majority of the time he was talking quietly considering the reasons why Leon might have made such a reference.

"I was not aware of that, no." Somehow, through all five of her 'deaths', she had still not discovered this, and was fine taking his word for it. "Well...that may have something to do with the fact that it was not a drink."

And that was where she intended to end that sentence, until she sighed and gave in.

"Not for monsters, I mean. How clever of you to think of that so quickly!" He got a congratulatory pat on his arm, which ended with her awkwardly holding her glow-slime-covered hand up while he hugged her. This was fine. She wanted extra 'war paint' on that side, anyway.

Everything appeared to be moving fairly smoothly by the time they joined the others (leaving Lucky to help himself), but not smoothly enough to make her believe that it would continue to succeed without her. It couldn't. Because she was a brilliant scientist, whose years of study were being utilized to...play 'scavenger hunt'.

Maybe there was still time to let it win.

"All right." She exhaled through her teeth and rolled up her sleeves, carefully beginning to sift through the nearby runes as she flashed Robert a distracted smile. "If you need any assistance, you know where to find me."

After lights out, reading by candlelight was about all there was to do in this wyrmhole, and the library's collection of information on elemental magic was slim.

The romantic fantasy section was jacking hilarious, at least.

Even if Rep and Jordan didn't find the read-aloud paragraphs as funny as he did. Humans, in general, were bizarre, and he'd spent a lot of his afternoons wandering up and down the island's rocky coasts, sometimes alone, and sometimes on patrol. He'd spent another good amount of time stalking Rep and Jordan, even if they didn't always see him.

He didn't think his other self, the one they expected, had much practice in the stealth department. He was, as far as he could gather, pretty dumb. A musclehead nurse defender, closer to a knight or a healer-

Paladin, B0nez added helpfully.

than a mage. It was weird that nobody else could hear Bonez, either.

When the alarm went off, he didn't expect any additional hand-holding. Rep avoided him, when he got the chance. Like Harrison made him uncomfortable. But he knew the feeling. So he returned the favor, even if he was bitter about it, and the space, except when he was following either of them, and they didn't know that anyway.

CLASS A HOSTILE

The sight of a real dragon almost took his breath away.

Well. Almost. He knew Insanity when he saw it. But it was the closest he'd been to home in a while.

And they were going to kill it.

Because that's who he was, now. That's whose side he was on. If it had been a real dragon- it wasn't, he reminded himself. Just a messed up collection of scattered Fear. And Rep- he saw him briefly on the battlefield, and huddled into his cloak. Rep wasn't himself.

He knew what division he was too. Moon.

He looked at the net with a certain amount of despair, and then over at the sharp and wicked spear, or even the missles, or the solitary gun seemed promising. But no. Today, he was going fishing.

He didn't even like water.

He listened to the shouted instructions with suspicion, then looked over the provided equipment. Right. Charges.

He felt B0nez's sharp, keen presence in his mind, and using his work gloves, got to work.

The charge snapped with magic energy.

The others labored with equal fervor over their machines, the dragon drawing nearer, and Harrison knew as he worked that if he died, he wouldn't come back.

Moon Division

Yes, Abbi. Friends.

No need to get all emotional about it.

Still focusing his attentions on the big and horrible beast that had tried to make him into a meal, Finn shot his gun at it again, rather disappointed that all they got were nets, when other divisions were shooting ******** lasers and missiles and who the hell knew what other awesome things .

But ya. Glowing nets. Welcome to the defensive side , I guess.

" I want a laser." He muttered under his breath after setting off a particularly feeble shot

He knew what it was like to be Fear.

This was what it was like to be afraid.

And he couldn't help but marvel at it. How much raw damage and terror that shape, those wings against the sky and smokey mouth could inspire...

It was fear that drove him forward.

Sweat beaded his forehead as the final, brilliant burst of energy locked into place, and the entirety of the net was seared with bright runes.

He already had the net in place, but steadied it, and as the lights reached their peak the net discharged, sailing high into the sky and wrapping around the not-distant-enough form.

Harrison watched grimly.

Robert snagged his slimed coat from the ground and followed Mimsy down to the plasma ray, trying not to grin at the way she defended that concoction. The grin fell when she relented, choosing to praise him instead. His expression was a rare one for Robert; smug suspicion. He usually didn't catch on to people, when they changed their tune, but he was getting too used to Mimsy. He idly wondered if that was going to be a problem.

"Hey, Shiloh," He called out, when they arrived at the plasma ray. "We match!" He wasn't about to get all mushy, or even mention why he'd jumped into the monster's mouth. He wasn't looking for gratitude. They were both alive; gross as hell, but alive. That was enough.

"So what are we doing, playing bejeweled?" It was all he could see, as Life Hunters down the line continued to hurriedly put together runes. He loved his division.

He loved it so damn much.

[Life Division]
Plasma Gun Charge: +4
1st Roll: +1, 2nd Roll: +1

“Hi Robert, we’re charging the laser,” Shiloh said as brightly as he could manage, considering he was covered in the equivalent of monster throw-up. But Robert was right, they did match, and he felt a little better now that he wasn’t the only slime covered division member. He glanced at Robert while he sorted through the runes, wondering if the monster had snatched the poor guy while he was down. He would never ask, he didn’t want to hurt the man’s pride, but poor guy.

“Hey Mimsy,” he greeted her as well, wiggling his toes in his boots. They were a little melted but for the most part whole, and he was glad she’d been able to save them. “Thank-you again.”
