Running out into the light. Errand just threw the bag down onto the floor. He didn't even look back. As the memories left his mind, he relaxed slowly, letting out a weak sigh.

The goddess was gone. all that remained was the statues and the empty pedestals they looked over.

She read them, one by one, in a hollow, detached sort of way before dropping the heart on the one with the white plaque. That seemed most fitting. Their father had succumbed to his grief, he'd lost himself in that heartbreak, and he'd buried himself in work. There had been nothing left, just the memory of his wife, and the painful reminder the two small blonde children became.

He had loved him, she have never doubted that, but love alone and good intentions were not enough for a child.

As the heart disappeared the memories faded. She felt lighter, unburdened, as she walked away.

She was still wet and wrinkling her nose at the liquid coating her arms. But she'd completed her task and was ready to hand over the heart to the Goddess.

Except she wasn't there. None of them were there. Except four pedestals. Ifnie moved from one to the other, reading the fine print on each until her dull mind seemed to click. She was to give the heart to one of them? Give... that heart to them? Something in her made her feel sick. But she didn't understand why. And that voice... it still rang in her mind.

She wanted to be rid of this thing! Moving quickly back over to the pedestal that had drawn her the most, Ifnie deposited the heart onto the gold pedestal. "For you." She murmured, and backed away quickly. Each step seemed to be easier, and the memory was fading.

The shadow walked swiftly away.

Ajexil walked in with purpose. Her eyes were narrow and bright with determination. She was smiling.

Whatever had happened in the door had only bolstered her resolve.

She placed her bag firmly on the BLACK platform.

He was tired. he dropped the bag at no particular pedestal because he did not want what they offered. His Longing needed something else--something smaller than divinity but no less important. Something not even someone like him could mess up. Let others squabble for power.

Ortam was searching still--and he hoped there was time to find out what for.

The anger melts in him like snow against a fire when Arinth returns to the Shrine. There is no place for rage here, not before the goddesses. Quietly he approached the statues, surveyed the plaque and looked at the empty podiums. They ask for sacrifice in reward for candidacy. They ask for the heart to be considered as holy as the Goddesses.

Arinth does not put his bag on any of the pedestals. He lets the bag drop to the floor instead. He is not worthy. He is small and weak and still bitter, but above all else, he is not worthy.

Anni Rohn shuffled forward slowly, her face blank, still reeling from the torment of the task she had been given. The water dripped from her body, slowly drying with the warmth of the light within the shrine. Her eyes burned with the salt of dried tears, and her heart ached with the memory of her only friend, left to decay within her prison. She looked for Paranoia, the Goddess who had tasked her with this awful chore... And found her statue instead. She read the new inscription and sobbed bitterly, the feeling of desertion weighing heavily upon her spirit. She looked to the Goddesses and turned her back on them, toward the other pedestals. Affliction, Malevolence, Hubris, Anguish...

"There is nothing in this world but despair." Her tears fell upon the floor of the white pillar, Anguish's plaque seeming to be written especially for her. She placed the heart of Annalise at its base. The bag disappeared with a flash of ethereal white light, taking her memories with it. Anni blinked, confused. She rubbed her burning eyes, trying to clean it off. She remembered visiting with Ruin's statue, and walked back to her Goddess to pray for strength.

Shiohlu made his way back to the shrine, the bag with the heart weighing heavily in his hand. His warm core had cooled now, overpowered by the memories. His longing for peace was shattered by the bloody blade of revenge, the pieces chipping away with each step he took.

The Goddess was gone when he returned, all that was left were the empty pedestals before him. He read their inscriptions, feeling no particular desire to sacrifice anything to any of them. That was until he came to the pedestal with the black plaque, the word Malevolence making his lips curl into a cruel smile, mirroring the memory of his master. Yes, he thought, coldly, this is what he wanted, what he desired. The part of him that sought revenge drowned out the smaller voice screaming no, pushing it to the depths of his core as he placed the bag onto the black podium.

Then his own malevolence was gone, drawn away with the memories from his mind. A small portion lingered, lurking but his heart warmed blue again, albeit a little greener now.

Impah moved towards the podiums, running on autopilot as she stares at them. The heart she holds heavy in her arms. None of them call to her, and she wants to keep it. It's her heart....It's her moms heart.

She doesn't know why, but her body does. It moves to the white podium, setting it down on Anguish.

"Because nothing but despair..." Impah cries as the bag is set down, Tethys heart disappearing in a flash light. And the memory of Tethys with it.

And she stood there, wondering why she was even there. And why her face was so wet.

When she arrived back, Oephis was a little disheartened to find the Goddess not there - only her statue along with the others. Had she done wrong? Had she gone through that for no reason? She choked on a cough, spluttering as she moved to the statue; reading the inscription. Sacrifice? Candidate? She was tired. She wanted to leave. The white plaque was closest and she dragged herself to it; reading the inscription.

"Despair..," she mumbled and pulled at the strings of the bag, hand reaching in and pulling out the heart and holding it in her hands. It's cold. She will not feel its warmth ever again - nor the warmth of her mother. A sob wracks her body and tears stream down her face - for a moment she does nothing but cradle the heart to her chest. Perhaps she could return it; bring her mother back. She looked up at the pillar, going over everything in her head. Perhaps when she's a Goddess she'll be able to remove the despair; she'll be able to return the heart.

Shakily, the heart was placed back inside the bag before placed upon the pedestal. It disappeared and Oephis sat blinking for a few moments, a hand reaching up to shakily scratch her head. What had she been upset about?

He wasted no time in reading the plaques placed upon the statues. He paused at the one that was glowing black and stroked his chin. "Resentment, huh?" He grunted. "I'm feeling a lot of that right now." He placed the bag onto the pedestal as quickly as possible. He didn't want to touch it - didn't want to remember what he had done. The bag disappeared in a flash and he stretched.

The task was complete and that was that.

Niqun placed the heart on the shrine which shined black, currently reflecting how he felt. It was best placed there...

But then he felt something else, as if water was poured through him the feelings, memories, were wiped away. There was only nothing.

Quite finished with that horror, Reinethka returned to find that the goddess was gone, and instead replaced with the previous statue before. Examining the plaque, she then looked to the bag in her hand, and then the empty podiums.

Carefully looking over each and every one of them, she then returned to the first. Thinking on it a moment, Rein then placed the heart upon the white podium, watching as it disappeared.

With her task finished, she made for the exit.

Loffie weighed the decision heavily in his mind. He was reluctant to give up the heart but at the same time he wanted nothing to do with it, the memories it came with painful, and knowing what is was even more painful still.

He crushed it close to his chest again, hugging it, before finally placing it onto the white podium.

As the heart disappeared, so did the painful memories, and Loffie was left with nothing, numb again and wanting only to get out of this place.

Returning with the heart in hand, she approached the podiums, reading over each of the plaques. So she was to lay the heart on one of the empty podiums as a sacrifice, was she? Thinking over her choices carefully, she finally placed it one the green podium, watching as it disappeared.

Having made her choice, and finished her task, she then left.
