"I almost don't want to take you to your destination." He said to her softly, "I would love to ask you to stay on the ship. Be a member of the crew.....but I think you'd decline. It's a pity." He said as he turned to look out over the sea. "You were born for this life Tahlia. If things had gone differently, I know that you'd be out here, with your own ship. Your own crew. A totally different life. Tell me, as Tahlia, Privateers daughter, that doesn't sound appealing."

At his comment, Tahlia's head turned sharply towards him in a panic. If he didn't take her, the goddess would- but he was still talking, and she ought to listen. Swallowing the panic that had no doubt shone in her eyes, Tahlia shook her head and stared out at the water, the gestures contraditicing themselves. "I'd decline. I've got responsibililtes... One's that impact more lives than just my own." She closed her eyes, quickly, but she could still see the delightful dance of the ocean in her mind. A tear slipped down her cheek. "Of course it's appealing. If I could, I'd drop it all in an instant for this..." Her voice was a hoarse whisper, almost as if she didn't want to hear it herself. The salty sea wind no doubt danced it over to Adrian's ear however. "But... I can't." She opened her eyes and turned back to him, before, through the tears, giving a weak wink. "But if my circumstances ever change, I might just have to look you up."

Adrian smiled to Tahlia, "Maybe......if you don't die in that god forsaken land....." He said with a weak smile, "I could give you a ride back home. Maybe take the long way around?" He said with a small wink. "How about that? Gives you more incentive to not die."

Tahlia just stared at him in shock for a moment, before laughing. "Sure. I was going to just go ahead and let the land claim me, but now, I'll fight off anything in my way!" She lifted her fists up playfully, chuckling. Careful, Tahlia. You have to go back to being a priestess sometime. Don't get too used to this. Tahlia tried to ignore the little voice at the back of her head, doing a surprisingly good job of doing so. "Thanks. Before I disembark we can come up with some sort of signal I can leave that says 'I'm still alive, come get me' before we disembark." She was making a joke out of it, but it meant a lot to her that he'd offer.

"I'll know. I mean.....wouldn't your goddess tell me to go back and pick you up?" He said with a smirk, "Just light a signal fire. Big fire, lots of smoke.....I'll see it."
The lookout raised an eyebrow. One of the passangers was sent to relieve him? "Well, ya just keep an eye out for land, weather, and ships." He said as he handed her a spyglass. "Just remember, if you see something out of the ordinary, call it down to the deck, and point towards it."

Tahlia smirked. "I suppose she might, but as far as I know she doesn't talk to all that many people." Resting her hands against the railing of the ship, Tahlia tilted her head. "Lots of fire, huh? What if that attracts unwanted notice? I've only got so many bullets and I'm not allowed to shoot to kill." Tahlia made no remark on whether or not she was competent enough to shoot to kill- it was best not to comment.

Adelaide took the spyglass and gave a nod. "I could do that. Thank you." She began to look around, admiring the view and then focusing and glancing around.

Adrian sighed, "We could wait at the dock. I'll call it shore leave. Though, my crew will probably notice a distinct lack of buxom wenches, with which to sate their desires." he shrugged, "But, I shall be there, when you return. So don't die or I'll be there for a long time." He said looking to Tahlia before gnetly tilting her chin up and leaning in to kiss her cheek.

Tahlia shook her head. "Oh no, that would put you and your crew in far too much danger, but thank you." She gave a wan smile. "I've already endangered far too many people on this quest of mine, I couldn't-" Tahlia broke off as he touched her chin, flushing brightly when she felt the contact of his lips on her cheek. "I- Uh-" She flushed again, grasping desperately for control. She only managed a whisper. "You know such an act towards a high priestess could get you jailed. Good thing you're a pirate. And I'm dressed like one." Oh shut up Tahlia! Tahlia had been selected to be a priestess at 16, and before that had been a lowly and overworked servant in the castle. She'd never had male attention of any form, and had come to expect that to be the norm the entirety of her life. So now, with the warmth of his lips fading from her cheek, blown away by the salty sting of the ocean breeze, Tahlia's brain could only scramble for some semblance of her previous serenity.

Adelaide was busy watching around, until she went to lean over to say that she had seen something. In leaning over, her attention fell to Tahlia and Adrian. Her mouth dropped and she slowly picked it back up. She wasn't sure if she was upset or angry, or was she jealous? Nonsense, jealousy was a petty thing. She leaned back over the rail, discouraged and yelled in a flat tone. "Ship in the distance!" She slumped back before anyone could see her face, and she pointed out where she had seen this ship.

Tahlia, both eagar to prove her worth and to distract herself from the man standing in front of her that she'd just come to the shocking realization saw her as maybe more than a priestess, turned towards the direction that Adelaide had pointed, grabbing an eyeglass out of the hands of a pirate next to her. "Sorry, let me borrow this." She lifted it, and scanned the sea for the ship. "Crap!" Ducking behind Adrian, she yelled up to Adelaide. "Ela, HIDE! It's a royal navy ship!" She turned to Adrian. "She and I have to get below deck- now. They don't have the sail, but the emblems on the ship and the ship name are the latest royal navy ship, act accordingly." It would only be trouble for all involved if Adelaide and Arianne were caught on a pirate ship. Or any ship. The pirates would be hanged as traitors and as kidnappers, Adelaide would be forced home and probably stripped of her holy knight title by her father, locked in a room until she could be married doff safely. Tahlia didn't even know what the punishment for a priestess who ran off with a holy artifact without a word was. No one had ever had the gall to do it before.

"Damn! Lower the colors, now!" He shouted, And he grabbed a nearby crewman, "Viktor, get these two to the smugglers hold. If we do get searched, I don't want any trace of you found, get you mirror, sheild and any of your clothes, and get below deck." He said, using his own eyeglass, "That ship is a beast. outsizes and outguns us. We wouldn't stand a chance." He muttered, "Men, remember. We are a merchant trading ship. Anyone draws steel, I will end you myself, to save the rest of this crew. We will not stand a chance if we have to fight them. So lets not give them a reason!" He shouted. He hoped Tahlia would be safe. This was further out than the navy usually went, it meant they were looking for someone, and he knew who it was.

Tahlia turned to him. "Oh the bright side, from the way the oceans been moving, they might not have seen us yet." She rested her hand on his shoulder for a moment, a thanks for offering them a hiding place, and motioned to Ela. Rushing below deck, Tahlia found her bag, with all her clothes tucked inside, and the mirror. Throwing it over her shoulder, she hefted up the shield, and as much of Ela's discarded armor as she could lift, before exiting and looking for the Viktor who'd been ordered to get them to the smugglers hold. Oh goddess, why didn't I think of this? The priestess order is bound to have discovered some measure of my past from my mother, they must've known to look for me on the seas if I ran away.

Adelaide was upset until she heard Tahlia yelling at her to hide. Why would she be yelling that? With a look with the spyglass, Ela practically slid down the ladder to the deck. "Let's go! Faster Ela! Faster!" She was yelling to herself, but dammit it was working. She made her way after Tahlia and frowned. "I got my shield. No worries." She took it, and scooped up what was left of her armor. "This is either going to pass by quickly and we'll laugh, or go slow to where we wish death." she muttered.

Tahlia handed off the shield easily enough, but helped her with the armor, following Viktor as he led the way into the strategically hidden hold, and filed in first, laying out their things in a quiet manner and reaching for Adelaide to help her in. At Viktors commands to stay quiet, Tahlia nodded, and then he shut the hidden panel. By virtue of it's design, they couldn't open it from this side, and it was totally dark. The sound of water sloshing against the ship reminded Tahlia that, were they struck, this was the bottom of the ship and would go down the fastest. Taking a calming gulp of air, Tahlia wrapped her arms tightly around Adelaide. In the barest of whispers, she murmered directly into her ear. "I'm glad you're here with me."
