V'ell clasped the hand that reached out to her, briefly pressing a kiss to D'ei's temple, ignoring the taste of sweat and blood and firestone dust. "Come on. Hurry, love - there! I think I see light!"
It was a narrow passage. Too narrow for her to carry anyone else, even if she had the strength to - and V'ell wasn't sure she had the strength to lift anything heavier than her own limbs, anymore. She could feel Zarth screaming in the back of her mind to hurry, to run, to come out into the light and the air before they were buried forever. And she made no effort to resist that desperate voice.
Still tightly gripping D'ei's hand, she moved towards escape and safety without looking back.

D'ei squeezed back, leaning into the kiss as she always did. They smelled o the underground and bloody wher, and to between without staying in the disgusting place. She followed along the wounded greenrider, teeth grit against the pain, her dark eyes narrowed.
she didn't notice Kr'stof following in pursuit. If she had, she'd not have cared.
