Gossamer let out a small sigh. "Yes..." she began. "There are a few people in my world and New York whom still have an unspoken contract out with me. Most don't know that the contract exists, but there have been a few who do know and have with held their little free be."She made it sound as though it was a bit of a problem than it was really worth. Or that she wasn't really proud of it.

"The magic I learned was... old. Binding. One of the spells I placed on myself makes it possible for anyone I make a dealing with to call me back if they need another favor from me. It only really applies if I've asked something of them, or if they've done a big favor for me. Of course, that works in my favor as well. If they have agreed to do something for me, I can make sure that they do it." She crossed her arms under her chest and continued. "I don't say anything about it, so the people I work for never really know. Only the ones who know a bit about magic themselves, or have really looked into my history can tell that I have such a spell in place. Then all they have to do is say the little phrase, and I'm yanked away from wherever I am and pop up wherever they are. If they go back on whatever payment or agreement was made for me, then I have to see to it that they hold up their end of the deal whether I care about it anymore or not."

"I'm... assuming you've never heard of such magic. I'm not surprised... I'm the only magic user I know of who has such a spell in effect. Think someone said that this kind of binding magic hasn't been used in... centuries."

The clown shrugged. "Yeah, I'm not even going to act like I understand all of the ethereal fine print," the Joker said, still looking visibly bewildered, "But I think the gist of what you're saying is that someone you've worked with before, who also has some magic experience, said the safeword and called you back against your will." He crossed his own arms. "That it in a nutshell?"

If he had understood correctly, which he very well may not have, then her explanation sounded like completely ludicrous. It was just too bizarre. It was so incredibly far-fetched... that there was no way that she could have just made it up. Somewhere, there was a little voice in his head, one that sounded vaguely familiar, like a long-lost sibling that you haven't heard from in over a decade, that told him to believe her. With an inward start, he realized that it was his conscience.

"Basically, yes." Gossamer replied. She wasn't sure how many magic users there were here in Gotham, save for that girl in the magician get-up that caught her. If they had a space prison with anti-magic cells, then there had to be at least some decent amount of magic around. Real question was how much had the Joker delt with. If he had dealt with enough, then... well, it probably still would sound stupid. Most of the magic users she knew thought her little curse spell was stupid. Along with a few other curses she had put on herself. Lesson learned the hard way not to goof off with a spell book that was stolen from a museum. She never believed in magic when they took the stupid thing, and never thought showing off her skill with latin and dramatic acting would get her into repeated trouble afterwards.

The Joker shook his head. "That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my life, and that's including everything that I've ever said. Believe me, I've said some pretty ludicrous things," he said, completely deadpanning the fact that he was inclined to believe her. Hell, he didn't lie. Why would someone cast such an inconvenient spell on THEMSELVES?

He uncrossed his arms, and saw that there was now a blood stain on his jacket from that damn wound.
"Son of a..." He started to say, before he stopped just short of cursing. He said by way of explanation, "Kiddies might read this. Got to stay PG."

With a slight sigh, he opened the door, revealing a small hallway. "Well, regardless, I'm not the one you need to convince."

Gossamer's attention shifted towards the hallway once he opened the door, and nodded. Honestly she'd be surprised if he did believe her... she knew how stupid it sounded. But... it was the truth, and it was the only story she was going to tell. If she had tried explaining it any other way, then it would be lying. Didn't really matter if he believed her anyway. With how it happened, and how long she had been gone, she figured he had no intention on forgiving her or anything else. Hell, she was still expecting him to have a nice little sound proof room set up for her in here somewhere. With how he enjoyed torturing that Shadow Spider... and that torture room she had found in his last hide out... she'd be surprised if didn't want to hurt her.

Actually... she was surprised that he was more interested in having her explain herself to Rosie. Maybe he was going to make her be the deciding vote over if he killed her or let her go. Or he was going to make her out to be the villain, so to speak, and just make it alright in Rosie's mind for whatever he did to her.

He... seemed to care about Rosie. She didn't think that he was going to kill the child in front of her or anything like that.

Joker led the women past a few doors, including one that had a little dried blood coming from under it. He didn't bring any special attention to it, or to the small footprints just outside of it that were also in blood. There was one last room at the end of the hall, which he stopped outside of, and knocked.

"Rosie! You decent in there? We have company!" he said through it.

Gossamer followed Joker and Harley into the hallway. Her eyes instinctively took note of the blood trailing from one of the doors. She did not draw attention to it either, but she had a feeling she may be paying that room a visit if things did not go well.

There was a sudden burst of movement behind the door when Joker called out for Rosie. Then a few rattles and clicks from locks, and a quick whoosh as the door swung open. A red and purple blur rushed through the door, and suddenly wrapped itself around the clown's legs in a hug.

The little girl with bright red hair had wrapped her arms around one of the Joker's legs in a hug. She'd learned once already that hugging both was a bad idea. He sort of toppled over then. She had replaced her old purple pajamas that had been soaked through with a new pair of purple pajamas. Darker purple with little green bows on it.

"Did you bring me something back?" She asked, looking up at him and beaming. She had apparently not heard the "company" bit. Or even noticed the two women standing behind the Joker.

"I did, actually," the Joker said, gesturing behind himself, "Miss Harley's here, and so is your mother." Might as well let that bomb just drop, and see Rosie's reaction.

The little girl's smile vanished nearly the moment Joker had said the "M" word. Even her body seemed to freeze in place for a moment. Very slowly, she looked around the Clown's legs at the women behind him.

There was the friendly girl in red and black she'd met once before. Harley smiled at her, and waved. "Heya Kiddo. You remember me, doncha'?"

Rosie nodded, and gave her a little smile, then looked past her at the very familiar dark haired woman standing behind her. Gossamer looked back at her, but didn't say anything. Trying to get a gague on the child's initial reaction as well.

The two just stared at each other for a long, silent moment.

The Joker touched Rosie's head with his uninjured hand, and said, "Why don't we go in, little lady? Sit down. She has a tale to tell you." This entire time, the clown never smiled.

Rosie looked back up at Joker when he touched her head. She hesitated, then nodded slowly. Moving away from his leg, she let go of him and moved to the side so that he could walk in. She kept one hand gripped on the side of his pants.

Harley frowned a bit, and kept her gaze shifting between the three others.

Gossamer was... still wearing the same calm posture and expression she had the entire time. Despite the knot that was forming in the pit of her stomach. This was going to be harder than she thought it was going to be. Rosie was young enough to be talked into just about anything. Problem was... she'd been with Joker for a LONG time now. HE was the parent here.

The clown stuffed the wounded hand into his pocket in an effort to not alert Rosie to the wound and said to Rosie, "Go on, sit down on your bed. Us grown folk will stand."

He turned to look at the women. Harley was being just about as serious as he was. Gossamer looked calm. Too calm. If she kept this up, he was going to have to go off-script. As much as Rosie and he had held Gossamer's disappearance against the witch, he wasn't sure how far off-script Rosie would let him go.

Rosie looked up at him once more, then carefully moved away from him. Gossamer watched as she walked into the room and up to a... very pink and fluffy bed. Much like the one she had seen in the other hide out. There were hand drawn pictures on the wall around the bed, toys stacked against the wall... white walls with purple and green trim.

At least it was obvious that she loved him. And it was obvious that he was taking care of her. If... things didn't go well, which she had a feeling they wouldn't... at least she'd have that piece of mind.

Rosie made it onto the bed, grabbed a large stuffed animal, then turned around on the bed. She hugged the toy tightly against her, and looked from one adult to the other.

Then, the clown gestured to the women, saying, "Go on. Ladies first." The whole thing was to let him have as much time to observe everyone as possible.

Harley was the first to move into the room. Her posture was relaxed, as well as her expression. She smiled just a bit again as she entered the room. There should be at least one calm, friendly face in the room for the kid. Harley moved inside, them moved up to one end of the bed to stand a little closer to Rosie, and give the others room to be wherever they needed. It would also give her a better view of Joker and Gossamer... and close enough to the girl to help her if she needed. Joker and Gossamer were grown ups... the kid was, well a kid. This couldn't be easy on her, and she could already tell that. If things got heated... well she saved the kid when the Bat and Joker were fighting once before. She wasn't going to let her be in the middle of... this.

Gossamer walked in after Harley. Her expression remained calm, but her walk inside was... stiff. Hesitant. As she walked inside, she looked around the room. A very small curl of a smile formed as she looked at the drawings on the wall, then fell when she looked back to Rosie. The little girl never took her eyes off of Gossamer.

Gossamer became uneasy again, but her expression remained calm. Her hand moved to brush hair away from her face, and she noticed Rosie's eyes widen a bit. After a second of thought, she realized she'd brushed hair away on the side of her face she'd been struck. If there wasn't a gash there, there was probably dried blood.

"Just a scratch..." She said, her tone soft and reassuring.
