Freya startled when Eagle startled. She bit her lip to keep from giggling, and shook her head. "No, no! I just wanted teh says hi!" She felt guilty for making him think she needed his attention, and she gave Kettil a guilty look, coupled with her mischievous grin.
The food started to pass around, and Freya took the smallest portions she could find, but still managed to take a little of everything in the process. When the mixed vegetables passed over, she gave herself an equal helping to what Kettil had taken, and then passed the bowl away. She reached over and pulled his plate closer, using her fork to begin swapping all of his carrots over to her side, and all of her green beans over to his, among other little changes. She might have given him a little more than her share, too.
As she did this, she beamed at Kettil's mother. "I likes everyones names. Yeh all has such interesting names! I wants a name like yeh has, somebody should makes me a name like that." She flicked a pea at Kettil's head.

"O..Oh.. A..Alright." He offered a quiet smile that soon disappeared as he reached to accept a passing bowl so he could take what he wanted.
Kettil smiled softly at Freya, "Is fine, Eagle just takes a bit of time to get out of his shell," he said quietly to her in answer to her guilty look. He was well aware of a lot of his brother's quirks and differences, but he never really seemed to dislike any of them. Except for Onyx.
The boil let his ghoulfriend do what she wished with his plate, perhaps a little too trusting. Whenever a bowl was passed to him Kettil simply leaned a bit more to neatly put a serving down before passing it along.
Liseli let out a small amused giggle with Freya addressed her, "I do not have a name of my own. I find it a bit silly, plus I was not part of this family when the tradition began for them. Supposedly Grandmother started it, hmm?"
At that the elderly woman stirred into action and cackled a bit, "'Course I did." Grandmotherly woman leaned and peered over at Freya, "I can give ya a name. But y'gotta work for it, ghoulie."

Freya choked on a carrot when the elderly woman's voice caught her attention, as she hadn't realized she was awake yet. She coughed it out and gave the woman an awkward grin. "Hi, gramama." Even awkwarder. Eagle was starting to look like a smooth talker next to Freya. "I will works for it! I will! Yeh tells me what I has teh duu, and it'll get done."
Freya turned back to her plate, and spied a green bean sneaking out from under her vegetables. She carefully put it to the side, and then took a mouthful of food. Her stomach accepted the meal without complaint, which pleased her more than anything.

"Good. Good. I shall think of some appropriate challenges for you, then," she cooed happily and suddenly the elder woman was eating with great gusto. Clearly Grandmother feared no food.
Kettil reached over and stole the green bean directly off of Freya's plate in revenge for the pea, "I have a name for her already. It's 'Brat'. I also call her TĂșkut."
Grandmother paused and gave a short laugh, "How lovely a name between lovers. Tell me are you two...intimate yet? Ya know, bangin' the drums t'gether? Eh?"
The sisters let out a soft gasp and giggled. Grandmother was being dirty!
Kettil wished to die.

Freya's fork stopped midway between her mouth and her plate, and remained there for a very long time. The food slid off of it as she sat there, frozen in absolute shock.

Liseli paused a moment and gazed over at the elderly woman and sighed, "That is hardly appropriate banter for the dinner table, Nana. Especially not with the girls here."
Coyote was too busy trying to look busy. The arrangements of vegetables on his plate suddenly seemed very important. He was trying not to laugh by the looks of the way his shoulders were shaking.
The one called Shade raised an eyebrow and looked over at Kettil, "I think they are, by their reaction." Blunt and to the point.
Eagle? If he blushed anymore he'd probably explode from the pressure.
Next to Freya there was a quiet groan as Kettil tried to sink under the table to disappear.

"OI." Freya gave Shade a pointed look, followed by pointing her finger at him. Nobody needed to answer that question but Kettil, who was doing a bang-up job of not answering it. She could have answered, but it wasn't her grandmother, so she didn't have to.
Well, unless Kettil refused to speak. Then she would be honest, and tell her that no, they would never do such a thing ever in their lives - which would be true, since she would ban Kettil from sex forever if he made her answer this question.
"Gramama, I thinks yeh would likes my family. We're all very honest and teh the point as well." Diversion? Sure. Would it work? Probably not. Was Freya about to punch Kettil in the face for hiding from this question? Oh most definitely.

Shade just responded with a grin. Was he just teasing them now? Probably. It was a sign that he liked her enough if he was going to say such things. He cared not if she and his brother did things behind closed doors so long as that was were it stayed.
The boilfriend in question was trying to gather his wits about him right now. What just happened? What universe was he in? Ughughugh. Freya's words caused him to glance up at her with a look that said he knew what she was trying to do but...
"I am sure I would, Dearie. I am sure your kin are a wonderful bunch just as you are, but it still doesn't answer my question." She challenged back.
Having taken a moment to gather some of his wits about him he sat up finally and cleared his throat, "We have," what point was there in lying? "But we use charms and we are ummm.."
Grandmother cackled a bit, "Fair enough, fair enough. Let that be a lesson to the little ghouls at the table."
Liseli let out a snort, "They are too young for that lesson and you know it."
River and Fox merely exchanged glances and shrugged as they continued eating. They were likely going to forget this event took place after they got to play a bit more after dinner.
"Now my little nĂĄxanish," Grandmother said between bites of food, "why the change in hair, hm? I thought you enjoyed yer dreads?"
Kettil hadn't answered the question with his father and he only shrugged his shoulders now as he started to try and eat again, "Was time for a change!"

Wrong answer.
Freya looked at Kettil like he'd just stung her with a box full of bees. He might have been used to being honest with his family, but she wasn't. If her father had asked that question, the answer would have come quickly and with a smile.
No, papa. Of course not, papa. We're good ghouls, papa. We would never, papa.
..and now Kettil's entire family knew they were sexually active.
Freya was going to kill Kettil after this dinner was all over.
She went back to her meal, spearing her carrots and imagining them to be Kettil's eyeballs.

Kettil flicked a look over at Freya and he saw...
.... s**t.
He resumed eating in silence and the rest of the family began to banter with each other for the time being letting Kettil soak in the fact that he was in trouble with his family now that he had answered a couple of important questions.
Ever the optimist, Kettil reached over to grasp at her forearm.

"OWCH." Kettil yelped and withdrew his hand. He was suddenly not hungry anymore.
..."If you'll excuse me, I think I'm suddenly tired and have gained spider bite..." Kettil excused himself from the table and left the room to escape upstairs.
The family exchanged looks but didn't stare at Freya. It was a lover's tiff and had nothing to do with them.

Kettil leaving the table left Freya feeling very awkwardly at fault. She looked up at the family, who made their best attempts to keep their eyes away from her, and suddenly felt like she'd been the one to ruin Kettil's family reunion dinner. That realization hit her hard, right in the heart. She put her fork down, waited a minute or two, and then pushed back her chair.
"I'm really sorry." She barely managed to murmur out. "I'll gets him back for yeh."
If anybody should have left, it should have been her. But now, she had to fix things, or else his family would think she was a troublemaker.
"Please excuse me. Dinner was really good, thank yeh." She pushed herself out of her chair and followed up the stairs.

Kettil wasn't even waiting for her at the stairs and by the time she got upstairs she heard his door close but it didn't lock. At least he didn't lock her out...?
For the moment he sort of sat down on his bed and rubbed at where she'd stabbed him like it was, in truth, a spiderbite and he was trying to figure out if it was venomous or not.
Maybe if he sucked on it?

Freya stared at the closed door for a second, and then opened it back up. She closed it behind her, and leaned against the door, watching him stare at his hand as if it had been bitten by a wolf. She tried, very hard, not to roll her eyes.
"Kettil, go back downstairs, yehr family hasn't seen yeh for too long teh acts like this." She muttered, moving to sit on the bed. She put her back against the wall, and pulled her knees up behind her. "I'll stays here. It's better that way. Go."
