Lucian had gone below deck to his bed not long after Shira and Atticus had fallen asleep. He lay there for a while, just thinking, which was very much unlike him. He finally fell asleep in an awkward position, one leg up and one arm behind his head, obviously not healthy for muscles and he might be feeling it when he awoke. Most people would have been awake with what commotion had been going on with the close thunder and all of the rats but he was totally knocked out.

Max perked up as he heard the others wake up. He concentrated, listening closely through the storm. Something was wrong. He could hear rats scrabbling all over the deck. There was a lot more than usual and they were moving a lot faster than usual. Their chatter was more urgent and the smell of fear permeated the ship. He growled softly, unsure what was going on. He noticed Shira had woken up and so had Iko and Niko. He licked Iko on the cheek to reassure her. But he didn't think everything was going to be okay.

Suddenly Atticus would jerk awake and grab his head, "What the hell is going on?" he asked as he recalled the things that he had dreamed or he thought was dream until he heard all of the commotion going on, on the upper deck. Looking over to Shira, Atticus saw her standing up and ready to go see what was happening. Smiling, Atticus too would stand up and prepare himself, "All right everyone, lets go check things out. Stay close and be on guard." Atticus said as he ran towards the upper deck.

As Atticus and Shira ran towards the deck, they would move past dozens upon dozens of rats in the hallways. Although normally they would give Shira a hard time or at least hiss at her, none of them seemed to give the two a second glance. Some were wheeling heavy black cannons into rooms and placing them at the windows. Some were moving barrels of supplies to different locations. Some were passing out firearms to the other rats. They all seemed on the verge of panic.

By the time Atticus and Shira would reach the top deck, the rain was so heavy it seemed to come down in waves. Captain Rachel and Cathy were shouting to each other over the storm. They hadn't noticed Atticus and Shira arrive. "Where is it!?" Cathy called to the Captain. "I don't know!" "How far out is it!?" "I DON'T KNOW!" The Captain cursed bitterly and turned to a rat. "Increase speed to 100%!" She looked back at Cathy. "How far away from the edge of the stormfront are we!?" The engines shook and roared as The Shadow Skirter picked up even more speed. "About 15 minutes!" Cathy yelled back. The Captain cursed again. She seemed to mutter something but the storm drowned it out.

Just then another low, deep groaning sound rocked the ship. It seemed to be coming from all around them. "It can't be more than 30 seconds away!" Cathy yelled. The Captain nodded. Just then a lightening bolt struck the tallest mast, sending a shower of sparks down on everyone. Several moments later a rat that had been fried by the shock thumped down onto the deck from the mast. Cathy grabbed another rat by the scruff of the neck as it was running by. "You! You're on watch!" She yelled, pointing up to where the previous rat had fallen from. "Go!" The rat ran towards the mast and began shimmying up it.

Just then, a massive, dark shape could be seen moving beyond the dark clouds for just a split second as a flash of lightening lit it up. It was clearly no ship. The shape faded back into the clouds as the lightening bolt faded. The Captain ran off to go take care of something and Cathy was left on the deck, supervising the rats. Her back was to Shira and Atticus.

Trey looked up noticing dark shapes in the clouds He looked down at the pistol This thing has enough for 1 shot hmm better make it worth it later He felt something big was coming as a wave of rain blasted through his face So This is it looks like this battle is going to be a fun one he said towards Atticus in a happy expression

As Cathy explained what was going on, Atticus would stand back slightly, as she pulled out a pistol on him and pointed it at his stomach. Not saying a word, Atticus would have a blank look on his face. Anyone that knows Atticus, would know that normally he would have somehow dodge the bullets and attacked Cathy, attempting to kill her, but seeing the look on her face, he decided to stand there and allow her to shoot him. Standing firm, the bullet would shoot him right in his stomach, causing a whole and pools of blood to pour out of him. Falling to his knees, Atticus would begin to cough up blood and tense up his body, trying to endure the pain, but if something wasn't done quick, he would die.
