Cheryth and Ca'mil were still flying strongly - like most in the fight they had been scored a time or two but nothing that couldn't be overcome. 'Plexith is sending the blues and recalling the greens' Cheryth relayed to her rider.
'I'm not sure if thats good news or bad' Ca'mil remarked.
'neither, it is simply news, the blues are to tired to continue and the greens have rested. They do the best they can' The Crimson replied sensibly.

Plexith calls for his Greens to return.
N'mol turned in his seat, trying to take a quick assessment of his Blues.
Some of them lag.
Then we send them back. Call for the Greens. Hopefully they've had long enough.
Tyeth did as requested as he caught sight of more Thread dropped toward them. It was beginning to become infrequent now, along with the usual clear patches from other dragons burning the menace away ahead of them.
However, Tyeth was forced to abandon his target when he was forced to avoid a shower of Thread that a dragon ahead missed. As he veered away, he did turn his head and angrily burn away the offending strands.

Cetalese and Halith heeded Plexith's call after a very brief conversation between rider and dragon. They reappeared and Halith began flaming almost before she had her bearings, clearing the air before them and above her and her rider.
Unfortunately, she had reappeared mid-Fall and some Thread was falling too far back for her to reach.

Halith nearly squealed, startled by the sudden sting of Thread so soon after she had boasted about taking almost no damage in the first two wings. And, as often happened, this Scoring was worse than the earlier one.
Cetalese turned in her seat, glancing back at Halith's tail, trying to see how bad it was.
I will still fly. I am not badly injured, she insisted, staying in her place in the formation.

They were wounded, each beat of his wings made the cut on his side pull and sting, just as his rider felt the pull and sting of his own wounds whenever he turned to watch the skies around them, his wing behind them. they were wounded...but still fighting and that as far as the bronze dragon was concerned was the most important part of the equation. They fought...and in fighting they would eventually win. He was sure of it.
D'lin felt a similar sentiment, if not in the exact same terms. They fought and in fighting they were not letting those who depended upon them down. Despite the pain and the suffering and the loss each battle brought them they would soldier on until there was no more fighting left to do.

Ca'mil called out a warning as Cheryth drifted from the path of one thread clump towards another, although the crimson was quick to respond Ca'mil could still feel the sting as thread wrapped itself around her wingtip. Cheryth went between almost as soon as Ca'mil registered the pain.

And upon returning she was glad to find that it had been mostly fast enough - there was a score yes..but not a major one. One that could be easily repaired and soothed as soon as the fight was over.

The greens were returning, a site the brown was pleased to see. He was alright, for the moment, but more fighters were always useful.
Watch to your left. He broadcasted to a nearby brown, and then flamed his own patch on his right. They would get through this.

He had missed part of the thread in the patch he was flaming, and it dropped, catching his wing. He vanished between before it could do much damage, and then returned.
I need more firestone. He informed his rider, turning his head. F'nell fed it to him, and the brown flamed briefly.
Much better.

Cetalese didn't turn after they reappeared, needing to hold on as Halith performed a rather dangerous maneuver to escape further Thread. However, the pain in Halith's mind had not worsened much.
Halith?
It is as small a scratch as the Score on my leg, Cetalesemine. I was fast enough to avoid it. It will heal quickly. More Thread falls!

Tyeth expertly burned away the Thread in front of him completely, then tucked his wings slightly to drop away from some strands that fell from above him. He turned his head up, burning them away as he fell a few short yards, and then opened his wings fully again and began rising back to his original height.
Call for more firestone, Tyeth. Let's take no chances.
... It is done. The Weyrlings should be on their way.

Moriath observed to her rider as she let out another blast of flame even as she twisted aside to avoid another tangle of the stuff.
Kleos acknowledged her bondmate with a feeling of grim determination. If they became careless they could easily be injured, or allow another to be injured.
the scarred dragon assured her rider, supremely confident as ever; she would burn away the Thread, ensure that her wing was well, and then she would rest and have her injuries treated.

Lying low over his dragon's neck Z'iv thought vaguely about the life he could have had. He could just have waited a few turns until he was of age and then joined a trade train, maybe even the one he'd belonged to until his mother decided to Settle with that dull Settled man. Instead here he was flying around on a huge angry beast, trying not to die.
Zetath demanded sharply, and Z'iv quickly tossed it to him. He couldn't regret his bondmate, not for a moment, not even when the black made him work harder than he wanted. He could regret that they had to do this though, and wished he could do what he'd suggested to T'rel during the fight to hold Trine again the revolution.
Run away.
See the world.
Live on his wits, and through trading.
He could be rich and successful and safe but Zetath would have none of it.
the dark-hided dragon snapped as he twirled acrobatically away from a tangle of Thread and then burned it out of the sky.
Z'iv gritted his teeth and forced himself to look up and around for Thread his dragon might have missed. Stay, fight, survive, and you didn't survive on the road or in the sky if you just shut your eyes and wished it wasn't happening.

With a renewed flame, the brown was feeling far more confident, and he dove down slightly to burn a patch. It was sucessful, and he returned to his place, no issues, no scoring.
