"I had everything under control, Leto,” Remarque said, watching her. “You have big words for a little girl. You’d do well to hold this conversation for another time. Perhaps one when you’re less inclined to turn your back and run.”

So far as Remarque was concerned, he’d lost none of his charm. Acubens was still within reach, and the only thing in his way right now was Leto.

He never questioned Acubens’ words; he had no idea what was going on around the room, and in this chaos she could have seen anything.

There was more for him to say, so he’d be damned if he turned his back. That wasn’t the way to make an impression—especially on Acubens, who seemed like she could use a little reassurance right now.

Zinkenite’s attack had been close enough that Remarque very much questioned putting his mask on, though he wasn’t affected by the fumes in the same way that Acubens was. Leto already next to the girl had little effect on his decision to move to Acubens’ side and place his hand on her shoulder. He spoke into her ear, softly, “We’re here because we have to be if we want to stay alive. You know we wouldn’t survive without their numbers, Acubens. You were the only one that put faith in us. You weren’t wrong to do so. Just give us a little time. All of this will make sense.”

He leaned back, looking at Leto. “She’s not going to get out of here if she’s laying on the ground. Let me walk her to the door. I could use a minute away from fighting to catch my breath. I think we can both agree that to let Acubens suffer any more damage here is against both our wishes, don’t you?”

His question was phrased politely, however his delivery could have used some work. He was being as professional as he could be, considering how reluctant he was to forgive Leto—particularly now that she had barged in on his fight and insulted him.

What was with the air attacks tonight? First horrible smoke and then suddenly Kailash couldn't seem to breathe at all. His wrapped hands went instinctively to his throat, trying to grasp for air like a floundering fish but nothing seemed to want to enter. To say the least, if panic was what she wanted well Nickeline was going to get it.

The Page hadn't even seen who had attacked him, and a quick look made him realize he was not right against the wall like when he had first gotten up - when the hell did he start to wander? That meant no Nysa and purple girl to help him and figure this out, nor nice wall to stay against and steer clear of all the chaos that was around him.

No, there was a girl with impossibly long silver hair - holy s**t that hair! - with a mask and black clothing. This did not look promising, he did not like where that hand was sailing. He did not like the aura she had nor the mask. And he didn't like how he couldn't breathe! How long did this last?! One of Kailash's arms flailed widely as the other stayed at his throat like it was magically going to help him.

This sucked so hard!

"Ganymede!" the chibi called again once he felt like he could actually speak. He could barely see, much less breathe properly. There was still too much smoke, but it was slowly beginning to disperse...

And then he could see a bit more of what was going on around him.... People were being killed... They were being cut and punched and kicked and magic was going every which way... They were dying, and all he could do was stare in horror. Nothing he'd been taught by his senshi mentor had prepared him for this. One couldn't just sit back and plan out what was going to happen when there was so much going on.

Someone approached him, and he looked up at the General just in time to see his leg swing out towards him. There was no time to react. On instinct, Oberon's arms shot up to protect his face, but that left him open for a full kick, knocking him clear off his feet and against the side of he stage. He let out a small shout of pain before the wind was knocked out of him, leaving him to crumple to the ground, coughing and wrapping his arms around himself, as if that would take away some of the pain.

He could hear Hypnos asking if it was him... He wanted to answer, but all he could do was cough, tears in his eyes from the smoke and the sudden kick.

Her actions were amusing in regards to seeing the softball sized metal sphere drop at her feet. Terrible reflexes he determined, she didn’t even make a halfhearted start towards catching it.

The Concussive blast occurred moments after the smoke started to billow forth, and while she might have a slim chance at dodging the 2 foot radius that made it its worst, it was no doubt a tooth rattling experience never mind the fact it aided the already terrible miasma of smoke in the room. The tear gas effects, which could hardly be dodged, were a plague to soft tissues, inflaming throats, watering eyes, many people even vomited from exposure to the gas after very little time indeed.

While his weapon was far from the most deadly in the Dark Kingdom, short of finding a senshi who had Asthma it was certainly one of the more miserable to encounter.

“Sorry senshi of Finger painting, I’m afraid even your star seed wouldn’t be enough to entice me to your bed.”

“Ordinarily, I’d make a note of my opponents in a battle, I honestly think I’ll skip the page on you. Seems it would be a waste of my ink.”

He seemed contentedly unperturbed by his own gas, or Ares for that matter for all its side effects and the infections nature of ‘magic by nature’ smoke.

“Are you planning on actually –fighting- at any point?” He tilted his head studiously at her, watching hawk like.

"No!" Acubens' protests were muffled by Leto shoving the mask across Acubens' face. She jerked again, fresh air flooding her lungs and suddenly, fleeing didn't sound so bad anymore. It like whenever she was with Remarque or Lesath or Leto outside of this hell hole of a war. When they were powered, but just hanging out. Lesath had a strong habit of holding onto her, or at least she did.

And she felt safe. Really safe. Like she had fallen into her mother's arms and suddenly whatever monster woke her up had vanished. She leaned into Leto as she breathed deep, drawing the fresh air from the mask. Someone had set off more smoke somewhere near by, or at Least Acubens expected they did, with the sudden thickness of the air.

And then Remarque murmured into her ear. It reminded her too much of Alexij. Damn this senshi for playing into that. Knowingly or not. It made her squeeze her eyes shut and sob into the mask hands rising to pry it from her face.

"No!" She didn't know how loud she screamed but she knew her throat hurt from it. "No! No more lies! All you ever do is lie to me, and you don't even know that you're doing it!" She was shaking. Shaking a lot. "I won't leave! My team mates need me here! I'm already marked a traitor, and if I want to be of any use, I have to help stop the blood shed!"

Acubens worked her way to her feet once more, pushing the Mask back into Leto's hands. "Stop making this more difficult than it already is for me! Betray me or don't, but stop confusing me!" And she fled. Acubens flew further into the fray, choosing the devil she didn't know over the devil who constantly tore out her heart and trod it into the dust like it was nothing.

The blast from the canister sent Sailor Nyx sprawling to the floor and her already tortured lungs protested the vines of smoke that threatened a fresh assault. She needed to get to Kallichore, to Pasiphae. She had to.
