Candace barked out a laugh. "You?! You take our home?!" She continued to laugh even as he knocked her down, arms around her middle as she curled up on one side. "That's adorable!" Candace looked up at the horseman, still grinning as she rolled onto her hands and knees again.

She refused to stay down. Not without a fight. Shield or no she wasn't going to bow or kneel before any of them.

And she'd be damned if any of the others were going to do the same. Candace was not going to let them be killed. Not any of them.

"The thing about blood is--" She watched as Invictus approached Cass and immediately bristled. She snarled. "You STAY AWAY FROM HER!"

Ami grimaced as the light pierced her eyes. Painful, oddly enough. She watched the portal's runes fly up into the air. Ami wasn't a genius by any means, but even she could tell they weren't supposed to do that. They were planted in the ground for a reason.

She didn't have time to think about that though, as a bright bolt of pain shot through her body, echoing in waves every atom of her being. She screamed loudly and embarrassingly as she was ripped piece by piece down the center. Parts of her body chipped off, floating uselessly for a moment before it all snapped back together and she was crumpled on the ground.

Ami felt useless like that, slower, groggy. She had already been exhausted with a headache from sleep deprivation, and now? Now it was like being punched in the head every few seconds. One of the big figures offered her the sweet embrace of death, and for a moment she thought about it.

Death sounded pretty ********' sweet. She was sick of hating herself every moment of the day, sick of always being too weak, sick of these goddamn halloween creatures trouncing on her. It might've been nice to just close her eyes and sleep.

She began trying to move to her knees, actually attempting to bow.

< Ami, jack you. You're not kneeling. >

I'm tired Jumpy.

For once he didn't bother to correct her. < Remember what I said? If you die, I die too. > His voice was frantic, panicked, quick.

I'm running out of options.

< Screech ... please. >

A few of the hunters were yelling insults, screaming back and forth with the horsemen. Ami was too tired for it. Sorry Ju-.

< I regret picking you. > Junpei said coldly. < You're worthless like this. >

It's not like I want this.

< THEN STOP. BEING. LIKE. THIS. >

Ami said nothing, but collapsed back on the crowd. It wasn't a kneel. It wasn't getting up and fighting though. It was just a refusal to not stop fighting. I'm sorry Jumpy.

He hadn’t expected Medea to talk to him personally. Wilson furrowed his brows slightly, bewildered puzzlement flashed through his eyes before he stared at her calmly. He tried to look down at her hand as she grasped his chin. “You think too highly of yourself if you think you’re gods,” he murmured. Wilson pressed his lips together as he forced himself to listen to the priestess’ words. They stung because there was a ring of truth to them. A hand slowly reached up to run his heavy, clumsy fingers over the marks. He mustered up another cool expression. “Really? You are so kind. Saints, really.”

Something appeared in his eyes, but Wilson blinked them away as he stared at the priestess. He moved into a more comfortable position—kneeling down on one knee. Was it on purpose? “They?”

He smiled winningly at the huntress.

"I am - and always will be - a far better cry than you could ever be, my dear," Mengyao quipped easily, and tilted his head a little, slanting a somewhat amused gaze down at her. "And, if I recall correctly, you are the one who is lying on the ground, not I."

A voice beside him made him turn, and Mengyao caught sight of a familiar head of red curls as the Protector of War bent over in a bow of respect to him. The gesture was somewhat surprising, especially considering his own status compared to hers, but Mengyao was not about to contradict her.

"You are welcome to her, Eris," he said lightly, and bowed back, his hands still tucked together in the sleeves of his robes. Straightening, he pushed aside the traces of a smirk that threatened to cross his face as he cast a glance back down at the huntress, arching one dark brow.

"It is not as though she has much to offer anymore."

"Aw, Mengyao, you got dirty."

Who else other than Lan? Mengyao offered the horsewoman a smile. "Ah, I'm afraid it was unavoidable this time," he responded, but there was a flickering in his eyes that suggested the underlying displeasure at the notion. "I'm quite looking forward to fixing this little, ah...situation."

He felt the kick, of course, but Gale was not about to give the horseman the satisfaction of knowing that it had hurt. Instead he studiously ignored him, using every ounce of energy he had left to push himself up so that he was propped up on his forearms, a bead of sweat sliding down his face.

"Marcus?"

<< Gale... >>

I'm fine, Ginny.

<< I'm sure you are. Just be careful. >>

Aren't I always?

His only response was a snort of amusement.

If he'd had any suspicion before, Candace's outburst caused Invictus to reconsider leaving Cass alone, turning to look at both of the mist women, before he reached out brushing his hand over the smaller of the two's head, seeming to be debating his next course of action as he stood there, his hand flat against Cass's scalp.

He knew they knew - he could crush her head so easily. He could feel that small shudder of instinctive fear run through Cass's body and he almost could have reveled in it. Part of the flock knew their place but fought so valiantly against it.

So adorable.

So delicious.

The 4 hunters had fallen, and more had arrived, ready to engage them. One had even singled the dark skinned horsewoman out among the crowd and attacked her. Or tried to. He missed, and his efforts were for not, as were those of the rest of them. She watched, elated, as her brothers and sisters rampaged on and tore through the hunters as if they were nothing.

Then Medea pulled her final card, her ace in the hole, and the grin the ghoul turned on the screaming hunters was manic. Her veil had slipped, that ever present shield, and she was so intoxicated by power, battle, and FEAR, that she hadn't even bothered to pick it up. That one, golden eye was blazing.

They'd won, the hunters were defeated, their shields torn away from them so they were no better then normal humans. She listened for a few moments as they spoke, false bravado, until one, a woman with dark skin and purple eyes, said too much. Black lips curled, and she stalked across the battle ground until she was beside the woman and the horseman already guarding her. Bi-colored eyes twitched up to the conquest male, then to the protector, then back to hunter. "You do not talk to him like that, insignificant worm!" Her point was punctuated by the toe of her boot against the hunter's chin.

She'd have delivered a second kick had she not noticed the way Invictus was toying with the other mist hunter. Clearly he was putting on a show for the older of the two.

"And if i remember correctly..." She said breathing hard, chest pushing against the hard earth beneath her. "I still kicked your butt enough for you to flee." Until he came back, that is. She watched him out of the corner of her eye until another form took his place, and raised her head.

Ceres was not exactly used to being man-handled, but that was one way to explain what was happening to her. She felt weak, worthless, and almost broken. A hint of the wild stallion that lived inside her still reared its ugly head, telling her NO. Dont give up. Never give up. Her stubborn streak was what got her this far, right?

She felt a worry for Bix whom lay behind her, quiet. What had the heir done to him?

The question startled her back to her senses, giving her eyes a little more light. For one thing, the horseman (woman?) was talking about her death and killing her tonight... for a second reason, the woman was also calling her by a different name. She had mentioned her right name previously, so why was she calling her this now?

Wait... Eris?

It clicked then. It took her a second, digging into the reserves of her mind took longer than usual from exhaustion. Eris...was a Greek goddess. Ceres namesake, she was a Roman goddess. The horsewoman in front of her literally just called her by her names greek counterpart. Ceres had looked up her named history when she was younger, curious as to the meaning behind it. She knew Ceres was the Roman goddess of grain and fertility. As was demeter that for the Greeks.

She honestly found that quite strange, did this woman have something against Romans?

And then there was the other problem. Currently the woman had her head in her grasp, Ceres could feel the womans claws digging into her now-vulnerable face flesh, and was threatening to kill her. Little did the other know... Ceres was a fighter. It was something that started really after her trip back from the pods. She would never give up again, or be tossed back into that dream world. If she were to die, she would go down fighting. If there was still a chance to live, she would try.

That was the fuel behind her next words; Mixing knowledge with stubborn force.

"I would rather not die tonight...no. But, You must remember... Discordia, In the end, We Romans won." She then used some of the last of her strength, and spit at Eris.

Looks like she wouldn't be following Marcus's words of caution after-all.

Sherry hadn’t dawdled too long after instructions had been handed out. She had stopped to grab another shirt on her way to the portal, mostly because you never knew where they were going to end up.

After stepping through the portal, she knew right away things were bad. It was far too familiar, really. Stepping right onto a battlefield, blood and death all around. Familiar, but it still shook her for just a moment. A moment too long. As she was trying to find her bearings, a light covered everything.

Pain. She knew it. She’d felt it before. But not this. Not this burning. She probably screamed and cried, but she would never know. All she knew was the searing pain. And then it was gone.

Sherry registered a few things. She was not burning. She was whole, on the ground and unable to move, but alive and whole.

Armagnac’s voice seemed wary.

Could be worse, Sherry replied. She could hear others talking, and she listened. It seemed to be about the only thing she could at the moment.

He remained as upright as he could, arm, slightly shaking from the effort. Blue eyes were full of hate and loathing for the pelted horseman in front of him, and he spat on the ground. "Not as vile at the idea of bowing to abominations like you." He glanced over and saw Gale, calling for him. "I won't fail you."

He couldn't protect Gale if he was dead. He couldn't protect anyone if he was dead. Still he was defiant, arms burning as he fought his own body to stay upright. In the distance, Cass was prone, and the one who's arrows had torn into him and his defenses was touching her.

There was a real fear that rippled through Marcus then. A fear that any horsemen could enjoy.

Bix tensed when Eris moved away but the spot where her heel dug burned a lingering moment and his body still sparked with pain. His wounded side was most affected, like a permanent and crippling stitch in his side that kept his breathing slightly hitched and held in pain.

He didn't want any of his friends to draw the attention of the enemy. Bix would rather take the pain than see someone he cared about suffer it. But for once he couldn't make the fool move and throw himself in the way.

All he could do was twist, watching Ceres bicker and spit.

"Goddammit.." Was all he could say in response. Stupid trainee.

Tseng was still smiling. She thought he was adorable? The fact that she believed she could kill him was cute in its own way! Oh, and he soon noticed that she was quickly angered when Invictus was messing with one of the other mist hunters.

A death horseman had come by to give in her input as well.

"Thank you m'lady," he said with a bow to her before turning back to the fancy shoe'd hunter.

"I suggest you kneel down before your dear friend here ends up with a squished head! Pop! Just like a grape," he said, making the appropriate motions to go along with it.

There was a feeling that hit so fast it was like a flash. Tikaanis had no recollection of how or when she ended up on the floor, laying on her side, everything happened so fast and so blindingly. The horsemen wanted them to kneel and that was not something Tikaanis was about to do on her own free will. Not that it mattered much with her laying on her side.

Stay down. Stay down.

Atti was urging her to stay down but defiance was burning. The teen attempted to push her self back up but was failing. Why did she feel so weak?

"W-What the ******** hell!"

Stay down Tika. Stay down! Maybe they will think your dead.

Thats cowards talk Atti. Tikaanis glared at the ground. She couldn't even move her head properly. It was a weak helpless feeling that just made her want to scream. That would do nothing right now though. Tikaanis knew that. So she kept her frustration inwardly to her self.

He touched Cass again and Candace's face twisted into one of rage. "I told you. to. get. away from her!" She pushed a hand heavily against Tseng's chest to push herself toward Invictus as quickly as she could. She'd use her weight to throw herself at him. She's got this. She could do it. She's coming, Cass. Candace will protect y--

CANDACE LOOK OUT! Before Candace could so much as turn to see what Atropos was trying to warn her of a boot connected with the underside of her chin. She fell backwards, head slamming on the ground with a heavy thud and a pained grunt. She tasted blood. <********>. Candace coughed, rolling over onto her hands and knees again. Narrowed lavender eyes turned up to glare at the newest horseman. She spit blood at her dress and raised a heavy hand to wipe her mouth. Her jaw hurt. Bad.

She was not going to back down.

...But some fights weren't winnable.

A hand went to Candace's chest as Tseng spoke to her, threatening her about what could happen to Cass' head. The pendant was there. Three simple words and they'd be home again. "Cass, sweetie." Her voice was quiet, not wanting to move her jaw more than she'd need to. "Do you have it? You grabbed one before you left right? Off the table?" She gestured to her chest by tapping one of her fingers against it, pressing down on the fabric of her shirt to show the shape underneath it. Her teleport pendant was hidden under her shirt to prevent one of them from stealing it.

Candace began to stand up again, wobbling on her feet and rubbing at her jaw. "Nice kick. Too bad my boots are better, huh?" She heard a cry and turned to find the owner of the yell. Tika. ********. Candace had to resist the urge to bite down on her already bleeding lip. She spit blood again, this time at Tseng.

Jay picked up her dagger, ready to leapt back into the battle, but it was over. She curiously watched the forest turn into a field of grass. The horsewoman spun around as she watched the hunters clatter to the ground in pain. “Hmmm~” Her head cocked to the side as she knelt down to poke a hunter with her weapon. Jay puffed out her cheeks. The fight was already finished? It was far too abrupt for her tastes, but a win was a win. She turned to Medea. Jay could appreciate a good trap when she saw one.

Now that there was a lull, she searched for Senga. It wasn’t difficult to catch glimpses of a wolf pelt. Grinning, the blue jay headed toward the other war horseman. She approached Senga from the back and casually wrapped an arm around his neck while she curiously looked at Marcus. A content sigh left her lips as she took in the hunter’s fear. “What’s wrong, hmm~?” she taunted as she lightly kicked him in the side.

The priestess merely chuckled as the hunter spat blood all over her already stained dress, and she ignored the woman as she fell, then rolled up on hands and knees. Taking the time to offer Tseng a flicker of a smile and the dip of her chin. "Of course. These animals are little better then live stock, and not nearly as useful. They need to learn respect."

A twitch of heterchromic eyes caught Candace trying to get back to her feet again, gloating about her boots, but Neru was there once again, an empty hand jerking up towards her neck, but by the time dark knuckles pressed agianst her cheek the blacked length of her scimitar was there, kissing along her throat. "You don't move again," she hissed.

She'd seen the hunter touching her chest, something under her shirt, but she couldn't see what was hidden there, yet. But the way she spoke to the other, the one, the tone of her voice... She didn't take her eyes from the hunter, but she spoke louder, addressing Tseng. "Brother, your blade. Make sure there's nothing hidden beneath that shirt."
