"Got it," Jordan answered with a small but genuine smile. "I plan on coming back all right. Not done here yet. Don't die, you got me?" He squeezed Rep's shoulder, then let go. "Don't forget your headset, man."

"Sir yes sir." he teased, but returned the smile but with more of an edge of his old confidence. "Survived two near deaths so far, what's a third to that?"

"I'll.. I'll go sort that out before I forget." and he bustled off in a bit of a daze to do just that.

Snatching a headset roughly, Robert had a permanent frown etched on his face. He didn't like this. They knew enough about this situation to know that they shouldn't be doing it at all. Every instinct and survival sense in his body told him to get out now. And if he could have thought of a way to do so, he would have. But as it were, fleeing meant death, and fighting meant probable death. The odds were in this mission's favor, as slim as they were.

He settled the headset on his head, and jumped as his phone beeped in his pocket. Picking it out, he read it, and he couldn't help but smile. He made sure his app was on, before texting this time - he wanted to make sure he made sense. This was an important text.

He had to add that last part for Jerry's sake. He didn't want to start the day by punching his soggy face for crying.

Molly fell silent and attentive as the leads and assistants showed up, and it was then that the smile fell from her face for the time being as she listened. That bit about fulfilling promises really struck a chord in the young woman, and she couldn’t help but shifted a bit anxiously. No, no. It wasn’t best to get too caught up in her own thoughts.

She just needed to do whatever she could and what she was told, and that had to be good enough.

She made a bit of a face though; as she found out they were going to the Sahara. She’d seen a lot about that region on the Discovery Channel and her brow furrowed. She had packed her bag to be…basic. It wasn’t catering to any certain climate or area, but held items within it that could hopefully be used in any situation. Darn. She wished she could have gone back and packed more. She watched as Candace went off to go get their head seats, and fiddled with the hem of her coat until she returned, and took one. “Ah, thank you so much, Miss Candace!” Molly fiddled with hers a bit before slipping it on, and there seemed to be something on her mind, as her brows creased.

“…Um…Miss Candace, if you have a moment? Could I ask you something?” Molly seemed to shift closer to the woman and toned her voice down, as if she was embarrassed about what she was about to ask.

Deryk went ahead and grabbed a headset. That aside, he made sure he had his torch all set and tucked away securely. It was the only Runic weapon he had, seeing how he hadn't quite been able to redo his success with deathsweeper. Hopefully this won't turn out to be a really bad thing for him.

Tooley was trying to get him to settle down, but it wasn't easy.

While waiting for things to get started, he just fidgeted and fussed over himself. Checking and rechecking that he had everything in order.

Dillon shifted himself in his bed, stretching out his arm to tuck it under his head. The words “class A mission” did not seem to carry the amount of weight he thought he would expect. Denial? Was that the self-protective mechanism his mind had deployed? All hunters and trainees were to be assembled tomorrow. Yet ... he still couldn't bring himself to comprehend the full scale of the mission he was about to face. He wasn't sure yet, but could this be when he would actually die?

<< Get some sleep >>
Yea I will ... don't worry about me.

Silence screamed throughout his room as he lay there, facing the ceiling, waiting for the day to come. He could not help but recall the last mission, how it had nearly cost him his life if it didn't already cost them two hunters. He was only 19. Just fresh out of high school.

<< Go to sleep. >> Nessy's words were final. Though it could have been his imagination ... but could it be that her tone was laced with a strange, soothing concern? They were never really said aloud, the affections they grew to have for each other in the short span of time since they met. Just barely over two months ... and they could be alone again.

The true gravity of the situation began to dawn upon him the next day as he entered the training field. Hundreds of hunters and trainees, gathered together for what could only be the singularly most important mission as of then. Shuffling over to where the rest of the mist hunters and trainees were gathered, Dillon slowly took Caelius' words him, remaining silent all the while. He could feel the fear and anxiety that bristled through the crowd at the mention of the words “Sahara”. That was it then, confirmation that he could very well die this time.

<< Check your bags, everything there and alright? >> There it was again, not the usual nagging or snarky remarks, but actual concern.

I'm alright, I think. The trainee went through his bag one last time before zipping it up and slinging it over his shoulder.

Now then. All that was left to do was to wait.

Seeing Jordan move off to tend to Rep, Jerry's stomach began to twist again. His pep-talk hadn't worked quite as well as he'd hoped, honestly, and he was losing sparkle fast. He wet his lips, hurrying to collect supplies for everyone, lining his arms with headsets to hand off to his fellow Suns.

It would be ok. It would be ok.

By the time he was wobbling after Rep and Jordan, his free hand was once again subconsciously rubbing at his scars. It would be ok. Just... Apocalyptic Hell Ponies. No... giant Dragon Wolf creatures. Right? Right. Right.

He was going to be sick.

Instead, he smiled as wide as he could, "Hey.. hey guys, here! I ah... I got he headsets and... and you all have er... Runic Weapons of some sort, right?"

His phone was buzzing with a fresh text, but it would wait for now, his hands were full.

"You're welcome." Candace gave Molly a warm smile, easily noticing the girl's discomfort. So many uncomfortable trainees and Hunters...put on a happy face, Candace. You can do this. If just someone stays strong and calm and collected then it might help quell the nerves of others that saw her like this.

One could only hope.

As Molly moved closer asking for her attention Candace nodded, passing off the headsets to whoever would take them to pass them out. "Yeah, sure. Do you want to step aside or something?" It was up to Molly. She looked nervous..what was wrong? Aside from the obvious?

Apparently Jerry could be useful for something, he mentally joked to himself as he took the offered headset, saving himself a walk.

"Ta." seemed at the very least that his anger from before was nowhere to be found. "And yeah, a gun."

He'd remembered to check it out this time. Just like he'd remembered to bring the few sentimental items he possessed, just for luck. He'd be needing all the luck he could get.

Molly smiled back easily enough. It was really easy to talk to Candace, she was so personable! Molly shook her head, but stayed close to the Hunter.

Oh no, um…here is fine…” She took a moment to think about how she wanted to word it. “Um…I’m sorry if I mess this up.” She rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. “But I was wondering…I know we’ll be given orders and Miss Aria or another lead will tell us what needs to be done, and what roles need to be filled but uh…let’s say…something um…happens, and we’re kind of on our own.” Molly rubbed her cheek.

Gosh, I hope I’m not sounding stupid and wasting your time…but say we’re on our own…what roles should be filled then? I mean, I know we’re Mists, and we can act in any of them…but I guess what I’m trying to ask is, how do you know what role should be done in the moment? Suns know they need to attack, and Moons know they need to defend…even without orders…” Molly chuckled nervously. “I hope that makes sense?” This thought had been nagging in the back of her mind ever since she watched Harrison give that defensive demo.

Emma went to retrieve a headset and couldn't help but feel under-prepared. She hadn't been told if she was on any kind of team, although she was assuredly a Moon hunter. She deeply regretted not heaving herself into training the moment she could. Bandages felt like a good idea right now.

Nearby, someone was asking questions. She could only hope that the ones this girl had were the same, and she slowed in her progression, hoping to gather some information.

...nope. Mist Hunters. She would have to gather her available weapons, make a pack, and just wait for the mission to begin.

Harrison paused mid-walk to listen to Caelius. He looked at Jordan again. He could...collect his supplies first, he guessed.

Don't be a coward, Caelius said. Be prepared to die.

He hadn't wanted to hear that. What did you even need a Moon Division for if it was going to be a last stand. If you all ended up dead, what difference did a few extra defenses mean? He couldn't listen to that right now. Keep the other guys alive, and they'd keep him alive. Block some blows, and they could all come home. Value your skin and live.

He got a headset and went over to where Jordan, Jerry, and Rep were talking.

"Heard the pep talk, Jerry. Probably for the best you left out the Moon verse."

"Hmm? Oh! Oh, ahahaha, yeah, I was er... a little um." He coughed, "Joyful. When I wrote it, huh?" He fidgeted with his own headset, hanging it around his neck. "So um. S-Sahara. We're um. G-going back out there. Do... do ... do you think it's um. More cleaned up?" He was looking pale, and despite the tremble, his hand returned to rubbing his cheek again.

I'd say picking at it won't make it heal any, but...

He ignored his weapon.

"Thanks, dude." Jordan took the headset and put it on, adjusting it until it was comfortable but leaving it off for now.

He flashed a quick bright smile at Harrison as the Moon hunter arrived, glad that he'd sought them out, amused at the comment about Jerry's song.

"Ugh, I hope it's been cleaned up," he said, trying for a light tone. "That was nasty. Either way, I don't think we'll be having to deal with bodies this time; we're on backup, it looks like, so we have to be ready to go, and that would just slow us down."

All of the runic weapons appeared to be secured, and as Sasha stepped away from them she started to fuss with the barrette in her hair. Nona's voice was a soft, comforting trill - a futile song.

For lack of anything better to do, Sasha hovered near H and Clarice. Her face was pale, and with her hands deep in her pockets, Sasha forced herself not to fidget nervously.

All there was left to do now was wait, it seemed.
