It also occurred to Keegan that being told he looked awful was one of the more tame things he'd been called recently, and he held back a rueful laugh and instead looked down at Eithne. The Growlithe didn't like the new person, and she'd crouched down and was growling at the young woman in a threatening manner, fur bristled and teeth bared and everything. "Hey, stop that," the redhead said, quieting the Growlithe's snarls only slightly.
"That puppy is very protective of you, isn't he?" the woman giggled, covering her mouth with a gloved hand.
"She," Keegan corrected, kneeling down next to his Pokemon. "Yes, she is quite protective. Is there... anything I can help you with?" he asked, looking up at the woman.
She giggled again, and shook her head. "You don't remember me, do you?" she asked, now looking slightly disappointed.
"No, ma'am, I'm sorry, but I don't."
"Oh, don't call me ma'am, that's my mama," she said, shaking her head again. "I'm not surprised you don't remember. It was a while ago." She dug the tip of her parasol into the ground, and smiled. "You and I had a battle," she said, using her other hand to gesture around the area, "right in this very place."
Keegan frowned, his eyes darting back and forth as he tried to remember. He wasn't supposed to be able to recall every battle he ever had, was he? He ruffled the tuft of hair on Eithne's head. "I've battled a lot," he said, smirking up at the woman, "Miss." ===== Lee looked over at Miharu and managed a small smile, quickly realizing that he needed to cool down. Miharu's Pokemon were tougher than his so he should be relying on her to help take their opponents down. Her Ampharos had soundly defeated the boy's Wartortle, after all.
Machoke tried to shake off the spores that had clung to him, but it was of little use and he felt heavier and sluggish because of it, but that didn't stop his trainer from calling out for a Karate Chop, directed, of course, at Lee's Zangoose. Lee ordered the Normal-type to dodge by use of Quick Attack and he did just that, using his superior speed and maneuverability to get out of harm's way.
"Ooh, that kitty's fast," Krysta giggled, her arm still linked with Greg's. "Clefable, let's see how much that Ampharos likes your Double Slap attack!" The girl continued to giggle as her Pokemon ran at Sparkle, hauling back and striking the Electric-type across the face five consecutive times. Sparkle was normally pretty resilient but those slaps had some heft behind them and suddenly the Light Pokemon wasn't feeling so energetic anymore.
"Sparkle! Hit it right back with a Thunderpunch!" Miharu cried, able to see the sudden slowness of her Ampharos' movements. Sparkle gave a sharp growl as she stepped forward, her electrified flipper coming down hard on the top of Clefable's head, right between the ears. The two Pokemon narrowed their eyes and growled at each other, neither of them willing to give up so much as an inch.

Plua cawed loudly, happy with her successful strike, and she stupidly turned her back on her foe, spreading her wings and showing off for a moment. "Plua, stop it, turn around!" Riza shouted, already wincing as she saw what was about to happen. Quagsire was able to get in pretty close and she lunged forward with her icy fist. At the last possible moment, Plua seemed to sense something and she moved, though it was at the cost of the Ice Punch hitting her wing and freezing part of it solid. She tried to shake off the painful ice crystals that clung to her feathers but to no avail.
"Forget it, Plua, fight back with a Fury Attack," Riza called, nearly smacking her forehead with her palm. She felt a little embarrassed by her Fearow's stupidity, but then again she realized it was probably the only way she would learn. Plua, however, didn't really approve of the Fury Attack command so instead she hobbled forward, lunging out with her beak which had started to glow with the same icy aura that Quagsire's fist had. It seemed she'd chosen to use Mirror Move instead.

A little while later, the newly-formed little group had gathered around Kasiya's now much-larger campfire and were busy preparing lunch. Amelia had felt very bad for attacking Kasiya and her Pokemon, so she'd dipped into her medicines and now all Pokemon were healthy and happy once more, thought here was some noticeable tension between Amelia's Sceptile and Dustox, and Rosemary and Twilight. Kasiya had been introduced to Amelia's other two Pokemon, the rather comical little Spinda that had been responsible for putting Azurill to sleep in the first place and therefore causing the two girls to meet, and the Pelipper that seemed to have no sense of personal space. Kasiya's other Pokemon had been introduced as well, so now the two humans and twelve Pokemon made for quite the gathering.
"The way your Umbreon used Protect was amazing," Amelia said as she sliced up berries for a fresh fruit salad. "His timing was perfect."
Kasiya smiled sheepishly as she poured out bowls of Pokemon food. "I think so too," she said, obviously very proud of her Pokemon despite her efforts to not appear vain. "I have to say that your Sceptile's Leaf Blade is quite a sight, too. And Dustox's Psybeam! It's so pretty!" Her mind idly drifted back to the contest she'd watched the evening before, feeling a small pang of excitement as she thought about competing.
"Thanks!" Amelia beamed, also quite proud of her Pokemon. "You probably wouldn't believe it, but back when he was still a Grovyle, he wasn't very good at it, not at all. He could never get the leaves on his arm to stay stable. He only mastered it just a day or two before he finally evolved into Sceptile. I'm really proud of him, though. He was my first Pokemon ever, I got him from Professor Birch in Littleroot Town."
"Littleroot Town?" Kasiya asked, her heart breaking a little as she recalled that Littleroot Town was where Jaeshan was from. She fought back her tears, annoyed at herself for being so quick to cry yet again, and she knew that Jaeshan wouldn't want her to burst into tears every time something that reminded her of him was mentioned. She could hear him in her mind, telling her that everything was going to be all right in that gentle, sweet tone of his. "Is that where you're from?
=-=-=-=-= That Fearow certainly has a mind of its own, Misty thought, chuckling at the Beak Pokemon's antics. It seemed to be a very proud Pokemon, but it was definitely a mistake to have turned its back on its opponent. For a fleeting moment, Misty began to hope that her Quagsire could bring down this Pokemon as well, and she called out for the Water Fish Pokemon to finish her foe with an Ice Punch. Quagsire, however, had been once again lost to the world of confusion, and she could do nothing as the Fearow fought back with a mirrored Ice Punch. Misty hadn't even realized that Plua disobeyed her trainer as she was too busy recalling her knocked-out Pokemon.
"You did great," she told the Pokeball before adding it back to her bracelet, and she took up a third sphere in her hand, smiling at it before she let it fly. "I'm serious now!" she shouted. "Misty calls Starmie!" In a flash of light, the beautiful Water/Psychic-type appeared on the mat closest to its trainer, core gem sparkling under the lights of the gym. "Start off with Harden," she called, knowing it would be wise to bolster the Mysterious Pokemon's defenses against the Fearow's sharp talons. Starmie remained silent as a quiet shimmer encompassed its body, which grew in hardness and would make it tougher against any incoming physical attacks.

Admittedly, Riza had begun to worry when Misty called out for another Ice Punch, as she wasn't sure Plua could handle another one. That worry gave way to relief as the Quagsire found itself too confused to attack, though there was also some annoyance as Plua had completely disobeyed her. The mirrored Ice Punch was enough to take out Misty's Quagsire, however, and Riza felt a rush of excitement as she realized that she was down to Misty's third and final Pokemon, and that much closer to claiming her second badge.
The raven haired girl uttered an uncharacteristic squeal of excitement when she saw Misty's Starmie appear. She'd always loved Starmie but had never seen one up close before. "Your Starmie is beautiful," she practically swooned. Plua cawed noisily from in front of her, snapping Riza back to attention. Misty had Starmie use a support move, so she should probably capitalize on the turn she didn't have to spend dodging or countering. "Oh, right, uh, Plua, use Fly and try to get that ice off your wing." She'd already noticed how much agility the Fearow had lost with her wing being partially frozen. Plua cawed again and fiercely flapped her wings, managing to get herself airborne again. Some ice broke free but most of it remained, making it painful and difficult for the flying-type to stay up in the air.

"Oh, no," Amelia said dismissively, pushing aside the pile of neatly sliced Pecha Berries she had just finished. "I'm from Mauville. But since that's where Sceptile and I first met, I do consider it the place where my journey started." She smiled, and started to chop up a few Nanab Berries. "What about you, Kasiya? You have many Pokemon that aren't native to Hoenn. Where are you from?"
Kasiya forced a small smile, ignoring the painful pins and needles she felt in her chest. "Yeah, I've been to many places," she said, carefully concentrating on slicing the Oran Berries in front of her, as she didn't need to add a nasty cut or severed finger to her ever-growing list of injuries. "I'm from Vermilion City, in the Kanto region. My first Pokemon was an Eevee that I got from my father. Not long into my journey, she evolved into a-"
"An Umbreon?" Amelia interrupted excitedly.
"-Vaporeon," Kasiya corrected gently. "I… have many Pokemon besides the six with me now. They were all met and befriended all over the place." She smiled, thinking of all the various ways she'd met and captured her Pokemon.
"I see," Amelia said, not at all embarrassed by her mistake. "Do you have any Pokemon that come from Hoenn?" she asked next, her train of thought skipping to the next track quite easily.
"Oh, um..." Kasiya paused in mid-slice, thinking hard. The only one off the top of her head was Casimir, though she was certain a few of the others, like Sandshrew and Zubat especially, appeared here in Hoenn as well as in other places in the world. "I've got an Absol," she said, tapping the tip of her knife on the cutting board. "Oh, and a Swampert! My friend gave her to me when she was only a sweet baby Mudkip. Ooh, and I captured my Tropius earlier today, too." Of course, she was using the term 'captured' very loosely.
"Oh wow, Swampert! And I just love Tropius. You know, when it was time for me to pick my starter Pokemon, I couldn't choose. They were all so cute, lined up obediently for me - Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip. I actually had to make Professor Birch put them all back in their Pokeballs and mix them up. I then chose one at random, and didn't see which one I got until I was already on my way out of town." Amelia giggled at the memory, though she got a friendly, almost knowing look from her Sceptile.
=-=-=-=-= Misty both looked and felt a lot more confident now that her Starmie was out on the field, as she didn't even flinch as the Fearow took to the skies once again. She did see the frozen wing, quickly noting to herself that it would possibly make Plua easier to hit, and it probably wouldn't be too difficult to provoke her, either. Yeah, this battle isn't over yet, the fiery redhead thought, making a fist and grinning.
She pointed up at the Fearow, now wearing a confident grin. "Starmie, use Swift and brace yourself for that Fly attack," she called, sounding more confident than she had in the entirety of the match thus far. Starmie didn't move from the spot, its core gem starting to shimmer as it released a volley of star-shaped, golden lights that sped toward the Fearow. Both Misty and Starmie were hoping the Swift would slow Plua down (and possibly even take her out, as unlikely as that was right now) and soften the incoming strike.

Riza watched carefully as Plua began to dive down for the second stage of her fly attack, her movements slower than they probably should be. 'It's that ice,' the raven haired girl thought, not missing the sudden confidence in Misty's tone. It wasn't surprising, considering that Starmie was probably her ace, and Riza admittedly always felt a little more confident with Akima out on the field. The Swift attack was sudden and unavoidable, as she knew first hand from the fact that Yula could use it, and Plua cawed out painfully as each of the stars crashed into her, making miniature explosions. "Hang in there," Riza called. "You can do it, Plua!"
The overconfident Fearow had no doubts that she could do it, and she tried not to let the fact that she was now aching all over and not just in her wing slow her down. She slashed at her target with her powerful claws and then tried to fly away, attempting to put as much distance as she could between herself and that oddly star-shaped Pokemon.

"So you ended up with Treecko," Kasiya said, admiring the tall Grass-type. "It's kind of funny, but two of my friends are both raising Treecko," she said thoughtfully. "Though, one of them evolved when we were having a practice match, and I'm sure the other is close to evolving if she hasn't already."
"Your friends are lucky," Amelia said, wiping her hands on her apron now that they'd finished with the berries. "The Treecko line are very loyal to their trainers, and they won't let you down."
"I don't know if I'd call Keegan lucky," Kasiya murmured, recalling Pan's crazy, narcissistic behaviour both back on the ship and during his battle with Nova, but Amelia didn't hear her as she was adding a few slices of berries to her Pokemons' food.
The group didn't take long to devour their lunches, as everyone (except for Alphonse, who was still a little full from all the Oran Berries he ate earlier). Kasiya had been surprisingly hungry too and she assumed that eating only Oran Berries wasn't very sustaining. It was nice to have a little picnic outside though, especially with such nice scenery around them. Amelia's Sceptile and Dustox still seemed to be a bit worked up, though this time Amelia noticed it, too. "What's up with you two?" she asked, noting the glares they were shooting towards Kasiya's Meganium and Umbreon. "Holding a grudge, or something?" She and Kasiya were busy cleaning up the lunch dishes while most of the Pokemon, save for those four, had been socializing.
Kasiya giggled. "Actually, I think they're a little mad that their battle got interrupted," she said, shrugging. Sceptile made a noise and nodded in agreement; the Dustox perched on his shoulder like a strange accessory of sorts. She looked to Rosemary, who'd been trying to ignore the other two Pokemon, and Twilight, who'd been shooting death glares right back. "If it's okay with you guys, why don't we finish it?"
"Hey, that sounds like fun," Amelia said, clapping her hands. "Do you guys wanna battle Kasiya's Rosemary and Twilight?" Sceptile and Dustox both nodded eagerly, and had taken position before Amelia could even give them the word. "Well then, I guess they're for it."
Twilight had jumped to his feet almost immediately, but Rosemary was definitely more hesitant. The good-natured Meganium still didn't like fighting unless their was a good reason behind it, but as she looked around, she figured that she could participate in a normal, fun battle for a change of pace. Slowly, she took her place beside Twilight, and smiled down at the Umbreon. Twilight gazed back up to her, and gave a bark that seemed to say "Let's win this one!" Kasiya positioned herself behind her Pokemon, feeling her heart start to pound with the normal pre-battle adrenaline, and she couldn't help but think of how nice it was to battle other trainers and do, well, normal things for a change.
=-=-=-=-= Misty was quite thankful for that previous Harden as Starmie's boosted defense meant that there was some damage reduction from the attack. She watched as the Fearow then tried to make a break for it, and she smirked. "I don't think so," she called, waggling a finger. "Starmie, blast it away with a Water Gun!"
The Water/Psychic-type's center core began to sparkle again, this time with a twinge of blue. The top point on Starmie's body leaned forward, and it shot out several rapid bursts of water at the retreating Flying-type. Nope, Misty and her Starmie were not going down without a fight!

A few drops of water trickled from Plua's wing as it was slowly starting to defrost, and she looked back over her shoulder as the water-type had been ordered to use Water Gun. She darted off to the left and then to the right, avoiding the first few blasts of water but the next one hit her frozen wing, sending sharp pains through it and the rest of her body. Unfortunately it didn't help to defrost her wing any faster, and Riza knew the Fearow was just about done for.
'I think Starmie is part psychic-type,' the raven haired girl thought, scratching her chin. 'If Plua can hit it with her Pursuit, it'll make my last Pokemon's job a little easier,' she reasoned. "Okay Plua, give your Pursuit a try," she called. The Fearow, as weak as she now felt, gave a caw and a nod before she turned in mid flight and began to descend toward the Starmie, a dark streak trailing behind her as she spread her claws for one more attempted attack.

"Rosemary, lead off with Reflect," Kasiya said, aware that Sceptile had some strong physical moves at his disposal, and she silently wished the Meganium had already learned Light Screen to help lessen the damage from the Dustox's special attacks. Rosemary's antennae twitched and two panes of reflective, almost glasslike light appeared in front of her, and Twilight before they winked out of view, hidden for now until they were needed again. Twilight nodded in approval, not wanting to be smashed by Sceptile's powerful tail again.
"Oh yeah, I take back what I said before, too," Amelia called, having called for her Sceptile to use Agility. The Forest Pokemon raised its arms overhead and gave a sharp cry, its body glowing to show that its speed had increased.
"Take what back?" Kasiya answered, a bit confused. "Guys, lets get this party started! Rosemary, use Razor Leaf, and Twilight, Helping Hand!" Rosemary reared up on her hind legs, her petals shaking as she released a flurry of spinning, razor sharp leaves that spread out and targeted both opposing Pokemon. The blue rings on Twilight's body began to glow, and a blue ring of energy surrounded him, before shifting to the Meganium. Her Razor Leaves all began to glow with the same hue, signalling that they'd received a boost in power thanks to the Umbreon.
"When I called your defensive strategy cowardly. I take it back, it wasn't cowardly at all, I was just angry and upset. Dustox, let's show them your Protect! Sceptile, get in there with Fury Cutter!" Amelia's two Pokemon were definitely proving that they were no pushovers as the Poison Moth Pokemon sent up a glowing, green barrier, much like the one Twilight had used before. The augmented Razor Leaf pounded the Protect, but it held up, negating any possible damage that could have been done to it. On the sidelines, the not-participating Pokemon cheered for their respective teammates, save for Alphonse, of course, who'd stuck his chest out and was watching through one eye, certain he could take on both those Pokemon, by himself, AND at the same time, no less. Sceptile's arm leaves extended and shone with an olive glow, and his movements were almost not visible to the human eye as he sped along the ground. He didn't flinch from the sharp leaves cutting at his body, and he let out a roar as he slashed his leafy blade at the Meganium. The light pane of Rosemary's Reflect flashed up, deflecting some of the damage, but aside from that, the Grass-type couldn't do a thing to defend herself and she cried out from the super-effective strike, damage lessened or not.
=-=-=-=-= Dark-type moves were always a threat whenever battling with a Psychic-type, and Misty watched the weakened Fearow, formulating a counterattack in her mind. Pursuit wasn't the strongest of moves but it could cause a lot of damage against her Starmie, even with its boosted defense. "It's time to get serious," the Gym Leader smiled, pointing at the oncoming Flying-type. "Starmie, blow it away with your Psychic attack!"
This time, all of Starmie's body began to glow with a bright blue aura, and it focused the psychic energy in its core before firing it off in a powerful blast. Misty didn't know if it would stop the Fearow in its tracks or not, but she wasn't going to hold back.

Okay, so Riza and Plua certainly didn't see that one coming. Plua had let out a caw as she neared her target, certain she'd be able to get at least one more strike in before she fell, but Misty and Starmie had other plans and before she could get an inch closer, she found herself being blown back by a very powerful blast of pure psychic energy. It hit the Fearow hard enough to make her spiral about in the air before she fell, landing hard on one of the mats. Riza could only blink in surprise as she stared at the fallen flying-type, but she finally regained her senses and recalled Plua. "Hey, you were great," she told the sphere. "A bit reckless but definitely not a bad show." She clipped the ball back onto her belt, and tucked a flyaway strand of dark hair behind her ear. Almost instinctively she'd reached for Akima's poke ball, knowing that the dark-type would easily resist that nasty Psychic attack, but then she remembered how the Weavile had seen a lot of action in the past few days so she changed her mind. For a moment she contemplated sending out her Quilava, but her fire-type moves and even Extrasensory wouldn't make for a very good match up.
'Sorry, Eris, maybe next time,' she thought, also reasoning that Yula had a time to shine yesterday with the appeals round, so that left her with one option. "Diemia, it's badge or bust!" she called, throwing out the Crawdaunt's poke ball. The Rogue Pokemon crashed down onto the nearest mat, causing it to sink a bit beneath her weight and for ripples to scatter out from all around her. Her pincers made menacing clacking noises as she brought them together, eyeing the Starmie carefully.
"Let's shake them up a bit," Riza said, smirking at the lobster. "Give 'em a Leer!" Like Plua, Diemia loved to tear into her opponents, the only difference being that the Crawdaunt would actually listen to her trainer's commands. Diemia tromped forward on the mat, narrowing her eyes and shooting a frightful glare at the Starmie. It occurred to Riza that it might be difficult to judge the other water-type's reaction considering its lack of a face.

Kasiya smiled, despite the fact that her attack had pretty much failed, and her Meganium had just taken a hit. "Thanks, that means a lot," she said. "Twilight, Rosemary, attack Sceptile together! Twin Tackle attacks, go!" Having just been hit by the Pokemon she was told to attack, Rosemary didn't have to move far to throw the entirety of her weight into the Sceptile. The fully-evolved Grass-type starter let out a cry as the larger Meganium far outweighed him and he was sent flying. His flight didn't last long, however, as it was quickly intercepted by Twilight. The Umbreon was relatively small compared to the two Grass-types, but he was no pushover either and his Tackle reversed Sceptile's momentum, causing it to land virtually face-first on the ground in front of the Dark-type.
"Oh, Sceptile!" Amelia called, worry in her voice. "Dustox, get in there and cover him! Fly in, and give Twilight a Poison Sting barrage!" The moth Pokemon nodded, already flying quickly towards his target. Its pretty wings began to scatter poisonous barbs that were quickly turned into projectiles that sped towards the Umbreon. Twilight tried to evade but the spread was too wide, and he cried out as his body was stung in many, many places by the small, poisonous barbs. Once again, the Reflect had flashed up, showing that the damage had been somewhat reduced, though some did get through. "Now, Sceptile! Jump up and hit Rosemary with another Fury Cutter!"
"Rosemary, dodge!" Kasiya countered as Sceptile lunged at Rosemary, once again swinging its bladed arm. The first swipe missed her, and the second, but the third caught her on the shoulder and she cried out, the damage having increased from the continued usage of the move despite the Reflect barrier that had appeared to deflect some damage. She still had plenty of fight left in her, and she gave a sharp Growl, the force of which knocked Sceptile back a bit and shook him up, causing his attack power to drop slightly. "Rosemary, try to get a Leech Seed in on Dustox," the blonde cried, unable to remember if Leech Seed worked on other Grass-types. She didn't want to waste a turn finding out, either.
The Meganium gave a cry, and her petals began to glow again before she launched a barrage of tiny seeds at the moth. Since it had been preoccupied with Twilight, it didn't see the seeds until it was too late and they struck it in the stomach, working their way into the fuzz on its body and wrapping several thin vines around its midsection. The moth gave a cry as some of its energy was stolen and given back to the Meganium.
=-=-=-=-= And just like that, both Misty and Riza were down to their final Pokemon, and the gym leader couldn't hold back a cry of excitement as the ill-tempered Fearow was recalled back to its Pokeball. "Just one more," she told her Starmie, and though the Water/Psychic-type appeared to be stoic, she knew it was just as excited as she was. Misty didn't know what kind of Pokemon to expect for Riza to send out last, but she was certainly thrown for a loop when the raven-haired girl released a rather large and rather menacing Crawdaunt. "Oh my," was all she could say, gulping a little. Starmie remained still, its core still glinting in the lights and reflecting the water as Riza gave her Crawdaunt its first command.
It was hard not to be a little intimidated when the large lobster produced a rather frightening Leer, and even Misty felt inclined to step back. She glanced at Starmie, who'd bee shaken, but unless you knew it as well as she did, you'd never know it. "Don't let it scare you, Starmie," she called, glad she'd been studying other Water-types from other regions. Otherwise, she might have tried to blast the dual Water/Dark-type with a Psychic and totally waste a round. Smiling at her own cleverness, she pointed at Diemia. "Starmie, use Swift," she called. Okay, so she hadn't been clever enough to teach her Starmie Thunderbolt yet, but perhaps after this match, she'd have to remedy that. The Mysterious Pokemon's core twinkled and shone yet again before a cascade of shimmery stars sped toward the Crawdaunt.

It was somewhat pleasing to see Misty's reaction to Diemia, and like predicted, virtually impossible to see how the Starmie had reacted. When Misty called out to it, telling it not to be afraid, Riza had very nearly shouted back "How can you tell, it doesn't even have a face" but she decided against it, as the gym leader probably had a strong bond with her Pokemon, and not only that but insulting a gym leader and her Pokemon was probably in bad taste. Besides that, she liked the Starmie, even when it was shooting off pretty Swift attacks at her Pokemon.
"Fire a Swift right back at them," Riza called, knowing that Diemia's real battling strength would shine through when she could get up close and personal with the star-shaped Pokemon. Starmie's Swift hit true, and she stood strong against, it, hardly even blinking as the stars pelted her thick shell. When the attack was done, she raised both of her claws and snapped them open to return fire on her opponent. After her training match with the Gardevoir earlier, she was eager for a real match.

"Your Meganium is amazing," Amelia called, obviously quite impressed. "But don't count us out yet! Sceptile, keep up the Fury Cutter! Dustox, try to ignore the Leech Seed and hit the Umbreon with your Silver Wind!" Sceptile didn't hesitate to throw its all into the next attack, and once more the Meganium gave a pained cry as the Bug-type move cut into her. The Reflect didn't seem to be doing much against the Fury Cutter as it continued to grow in power, but it had probably been quite a saving grace to the Meganium thus far. Dustox pushed itself back and began to flap its wings, sending out a silvery, shimmering wind in a concentrated stream towards Twilight.
Kasiya recalled that Grass-types were weak to Bug-type moves, but she smiled when she heard the call for Silver Wind. Despite having been training with the Dark-type Absol for quite some time now, Kasiya still didn't really know that Dark-types, like Casimir and Twilight, were very weak to moves like Silver Wind, and Fury Cutter, for that matter. Naturally, the girl was very surprised when the Silvery Wind tore through the air and hit Twilight hard - so hard, in fact, that the Umbreon dropped down to his belly, panting. "Twilight, no!" Kasiya cried, worry in her voice. "Are you okay? Can you still fight?" Twilight got back to his feet, a bit shaky, but nodded. He let out a growl and went after the Dustox with a Faint Attack on his trainer's command.
"Don't you know that Dark-types are weak to bugs?" Amelia asked, a bit surprised. "That would have been a good time to deploy a Protect, don't you think?" She wasn't rubbing it in, or even making fun of Kasiya; in fact she was genuinely shocked that Kasiya hadn't known about one of Twilight's primary weaknesses. "Please tell me you at least know that they're also weak to Fighting-type moves!" Meanwhile, Twilight's attack had hit home, and the Moth faltered some, suffering another bit of health drain from the Leech Seed.
"Actually, I didn't know the Bug-type weakness," Kasiya admitted sheepishly. "But I did know about the other one." She let out a sigh, her cheeks beet red and she was feeling quite embarrassed by her blunder. She decided then, that since the Dustox could use Silver Wind, which was super-effective against both Rosemary and Twilight, she would focus on bringing it down first, since it was the more dangerous of the two opposing Pokemon. "Guys, focus on Dustox!" Kasiya ordered, suddenly wishing she had Hiro here with her. A couple of quick flames from the powerful Arcanine and this battle would be over. However, since that wasn't the case, she would have to figure out another plan of action. Her eyes darted from the Poison Moth Pokemon to her Meganium and Umbreon, and she smiled to herself. "Rosemary, use Sweet Scent to draw it in!" she called, hoping that her idea would work.
=-=-=-=-= "So Crawdaunt can use Swift too," Misty murmured, making a mental note to herself. Perhaps she'd try and get herself one down the line, as it seemed quite tough, not even flinching from Starmie's Swift attack. "Starmie, quick, use Rapid Spin to try and deflect it, and then get into the water," she called. Knowing that Diemia was a Dark-type and any corresponding moves would be dangerous, the gym leader had started to formulate a defense plan. She also knew that none of her attacks would be overly effective, especially Psychic, but she'd also started to plan a strategy for that, as well.
The Mysterious Pokemon quickly began to spin on the spot, becoming a purplish blur as the Crawdaunt's Swift closed in on her. The momentum of the spin did as Misty hoped, which was to try and deflect some of the incoming stars. Some of them did get through and even those that didn't still caused damage to the Water/Psychic-type, but it wasn't as much as it could have been. Upon completing the Rapid Spin, Starmie dove into the water, awaiting its next set of commands.

It was quite impressive to see the way that Misty's Starmie deflected Diemia's Swift, as not only was it effective in blocking some damage, but the exploding stars and the movement of the Pokemon itself was all very pretty. If this had been a contest, that move would have probably been worth a lot of points. Riza kindly reminded herself that she wasn't in a contest and she smiled as the Starmie dove into the water.
"All right, Diemia, follow it and use your Knock Off," Riza called. She didn't really have a plan, as it had never been something she was good at. Diemia seemed to be fine with that, not wasting a second before jumping into the water and sending a large portion of water splashing at her trainer. She didn't hesitate to swim forward, her claw giving off an eerie dark aura as she reared it back, ready to slam it into the Starmie.

The Meganium took a step forward, the pink petals around her neck already starting to glow with a vibrant, cotton-candy pink. Soon, a sweet and delicious aroma had filled the air around them, and even the two humans found themselves being pulled in by the intoxicatingly good scent. It worked very well on Dustox, and the moth drifted closer to the delightful-smelling Meganium. Even Sceptile had paused, its bladed arm lowering slowly as it took in the sweet aroma now coming from his opponent. The Dustox continued to have its health sapped away by the Leech Seed, but it seemed not to notice as it came closer and closer to Rosemary. "Now, Twilight!" Kasiya called. "Use Faint Attack on Dustox! And Rosemary, use Magical Leaf!" Again, Rosemary's petals sparkled brilliantly and she unleashed a flurry of glittering, beautiful leaves. They all arched around and honed in on the Dustox, striking it without fail. A split second later, Twilight appeared in a cloud of darkness, also landing a solid hit on the moth Pokemon and it cried out, fluttering around erratically. It still seemed quite able to continue battling, though, and in the meantime, both it and Sceptile had recovered enough to attack again. The Reflect had worn off now as well, though neither trainer was aware of it just yet.
"That was clever, but you'll need to do better than that!" Amelia shouted, still looking pretty confident. "Dustox, use Silver Wind, this time on Rosemary! And Sceptile, Fury Cutter, on Twilight!" Once again, the Sceptile's leafy blades began to glow and it raced toward the Umbreon, slashing fiercely in a downward motion that caused some decent damage to the Dark-type. The Dustox's wings began to shine and shimmer as it released a silvery powder that swept across the field toward the Meganium. The moth's entire body began to glow as its stats were raised, which was a rare but rather useful side effect of Silver Wind. The silvery wind, littered with tiny, shimmering scales, caused some hurt to the Meganium, but she was a solidly-built Pokemon and it would take more than one Silver Wind to bring her down. She shook herself, recovering a bit of energy from her previous Leech Seed, and causing a bit more hurt to the Dustox in the process.
"Oh, we plan to do better than that," Kasiya retorted, also keeping up a confident front. She'd virtually forgotten all about her earlier loss to Haruka, which was probably a good thing, as it would have distracted her from the current battle. Twilight was barely able to dodge another Fury Cutter from Sceptile, but he was fairly close range so on Kasiya's command, he unleashed a point-blank Confuse Ray. The Forest Pokemon let out a strange sound, almost like a howl as its reality became distorted, the familiar shape of its team mate blurring away into some sort of monstrosity. The figures of his two opponents changed as well, and he found himself on the ground, gripping it tightly as though he may fall off. The confusion probably wouldn't last long, as it had never been a status ailment Kasiya had tremendous luck with, but there was a good chance that in the time she had, however how small, her two Pokemon would be able to bring down the Dustox.
=-=-=-=-= Misty eyed the floating mats in the pool as they all scattered from the waves created by the Crawdaunt as she dove into the water, the ripples enough to slosh over the sides and soak her bare feet. The coolness was refreshing and the gym leader was longing for a nice, relaxing swim, but that would have to happen later. Right now, the lobster was heading for her Starmie for a Knock Off attack, and the redhead smiled. "Now, Starmie, use Camouflage!" she called.
The Mysterious Pokemon's body began to glow once again, but this time it seemed to cause the Pokemon to vanish for a moment before reappearing again, surrounded by a healthy, blue aura. It too winked out and Starmie braced itself as the Knock Off smashed directly into its center, causing the smallest of cracks in the core gem. While damaging, it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been, considering that Camouflage had temporarily transformed Starmie into a pure Water-type, eradicating its weakness to Dark-type moves.
