((Entering from the Life Party))
Vanessa was late, sure, but at least she was here, right? The red-head hadn't actually been expecting such a real...threat to be attacking, actually. Why trying busting into a facility through the front gates, anyway? In any case, the still pajama-clad Life trainee arrived on the scene with her weapon summoned in her hand. Volt's electrical chamber crackled as she looked over the, well, the ninja.
Why was there a ninja. Why.
You know what? No. Vanessa didn't even care how strange it was anymore, but simply tried to look the ninja over for any weaknesses. Before she could attack though, the other Hunters already on the scene finished taking it down. Tesla Cannon still in one hand, she looked around to those who were injured while unpocketing a normal-looking bandage from the other..questionable ones with her other hand. "Does anyone need this?" After all, Vanessa didn't need to be healed, so she might as well heal someone who actually needed it.
((Vanessa's a derp and showing up at the end of a fight, oops. l'D;; EDIT NOTE: Andddd I've actually gotta be heading off so, uh, Vanessa's just going to be a fail and not heal peeps at this moment in time. l'D; ))

Deryk let out a breath as the other trainees went in and attacked as well. Doubling over for a moment, he took a few before straightening up once again.
"Is it over? Is he dead? There aren't more coming are there? I really hope that was the last of it.. Where the hell did he even come from? Anyone know what he was talking about?" he started to question while rubbing his head.
Now that the chaos had died down a little, he focused a little more on his comrades. A few of them were acting a little strangely.
Scooting over towards the nearest hunter he asked, "Did... something weird happen?"

"Good job, Gumdrop!" Eva beamed at him approvingly, and it didn't take much convincing for her to reach out and hug him. She probably didn't have to say it aloud, but she was extremely pleased--and relieved--to see that he and everyone else was safe. Her only concern now was Reine--she hadn't see her during the fight at all--but hopefully the girl was unharmed!
When she pulled back from the hug, she looked around Dakota to grin at Wilson. "Yes, Dakota is my Gumdrop." There was a pause, and then, "Hmm, maybe I need to give you a nickname too, Wilson?" Nicknames actually weren't a usual thing with Eva--she only had nicknames for Otto and Dakota--but if Wilson wanted one...
"And we're fine! Could be better, but at least we're still alive." She smiled, and then turned her attention to Otto, beckoning at him in an attempt to get him to come over and socialize.

Otto cast a long hard look to Eva, her attempt to beckon him over receiving little to no action. He was still cranky from withdrawals, fighting, and generally being Otto. That pesky headache was back too. The teen rolled his eyes, and turned his back to the group.
Feh! Socializing.

No.
> She demanded.
...No.
< I KNOW A SONG THAT GETS ON--->>
OH FINE!!!
Otto seemed to huff and turned back around, taking a couple steps closer to the group. He did not look happy.

While Dakota hadn’t been talking to Wilson, he nodded his head at the explanation. Ooooh. So that’s what it was! Although he couldn’t stop himself from noticing how noticeably eager the moon trainee had become around Eva. He quirked an eyebrow as he tugged at his goggles. It was only just now that he also realized that Dakota was calling Eva ‘Angel.’ He never took the boy as the nicknaming type either, but one could never judge a book by its cover. He was glad Dakota hadn’t given him some ridiculous nickname. “She landed on you?” That sounded…heavy.
He glanced at Eva as she mentioned bestowing a nickname for him. “Uh, a nickname for me?” Wilson hesitated before eventually answering, “Well, if you want to give me one I won’t reject it.” He shrugged. The man followed Dakota’s gaze to peer at Otto and Before. He grinned at the older trainee—wait, when had he joined the mist division?!—and waved toward the younger death trainee. He appeared pretty grumpy and not that willing to socialize, but Wilson didn’t mind that too much.

"You would've been so proud Angel. Actually I think he is still wandering around with it on!" Yesssssss All the hugs were his. He graciously ducked down to hug Eva and stayed comfortably in her arms. He may not be puppy but...he was gumdrop.
That counted for something or something.
"Where is the Washboard anyways?" He spoke of Reine of course. Not that he worried about the girl but....Eva did, so he had to ask nicely. Or has nice as he could for the girl.
"Alive is most better then Dead." Dakota stood up straight as Otto came over and grinned, "Don't look so mad Bro, The Ninja is out for the count..." hopefully, "Name's Dakota by the way. Nice to meet you." So this was Eva's Puppy. In truth he was much...no, he fit the name perfectly. He was a little on the smaller side after all, and he was kinda of adorable.
He turned back to Eva before leaning down to whisper in her ear. "Wilson, prior to having his gas mask on, actually has a normal face underneath it....." Dakota nodded his head, "We should call him Zorro."

"I am proud," She assured Dakota, reaching up to pat one of his cheeks, "Even if I didn't get to see it! And ah, so you've decided to join us, Puppy!" Puppy, Puppy, Puppy, wasn't he cute? ...Or maybe it was just Eva and Reine who thought so. Whatever the case, when the blond boy finally decided to approach them, Eva shot him an approving grin. She perked up then when Dakota mentioned...washboard. ...Washboard? She lifted her brows at that, tilting her head slightly as she looked the boy in the eye. "Washboard? What washboard?" Dare he answer her? She actually had no idea that it was his nickname for Reine. When he leaned down to whisper, Eva tilted her ear towards him curiously, her eyes lighting up at the suggestion. At once, she whirled around to face Wilson, propping her hands up on her hips. He said that he was fine with being a nickname, right? "Wilson! From now on, your nickname is...Zorro!"

DEFEATEDWith every blow the creature grew more and more stiff, until is almost seemed to become an immense statue. And then, with the young trainee's final blow, it began to crack and fall apart. The pieces of the creature fell down on the crowd below, but upon contact broke into a hundred screaming whispers just asking for one thing. Home. The fog quickly obscured everything, but after a few moments began to draw back in again, merging tightly into one small shape, burning brightly with terrible power. The power he had always wanted. "I'm going to kill you all now." His voice was quiet and singular, but there was a tension in the air that felt like death breathing down their necks. This was the eye of a bloody hurricane, and the next ill-wind would surely be their last. He drew a second sword, normal sized, but somehow the more terrible for it's mundane appearance before the Hunters' weapons of glowing magic and FEAR. The creature's stance shifted with slow deliberation, and then he was gone. Killing arcs of reflected light filled the field in moments, tracing his movement in a path of blood and the terrible finality that all Hunter's find sadly familiar. They had a decent run...these trainees. They almost survived. But almost doesn't mean much when you're dead. And yet...they weren't. Dead that is. They should be. But rather than their vision performing a melancholy fade-to-black, it was filled with a golden glow. The feeling of warmth on a cold winter's day. The anticipation of something amazing just around the corner. The smell of cookies, fresh baked and full of a mother's love. The ninja's assault stilled. The woman who walked calmly across the killing field was small and plump, with large blue eyes that sparkled with something wonderful and sorrowful. There was forgiveness and apologies and years of unspoken pain, and hope, and loneliness as she met the gaze of the Insane creature who stared back at her with that blank, empty madness. "I'm so sorry..." her voice was sweet as she turned toward the Hunters. "So...very sorry for this." The woman reached into her pocket, and pulled something out and suddenly the shimmering golden light intensified, not just around the trainees but all over Deus as well. The snow, the trees and decorations. The music playing softly in Julie's room. The cookies laying out in the kitchens and stashed away in various rooms and desks. And then the light began to pull away, creating shining streamers of happiness, wonder, and JOY....leaving everything, and everyone, on the island a little bit dimmer. A little bit sadder. The light converged on the woman and what she held, until it all was held in one brillaint star. As far as cookies went, it was probably quite delicious. Without any further ado, the woman shoved it into the creature's mouth. The result was...less than dramatic, considering the build-up. He simply collapsed. But those close enough would see the colour begin to return to him even as his body hit the ground. Eyes the colour of spearmint stared up in confusion and relief, and the barest of whispers escaped him, "Mother."She smiled tenderly, and the smell of peppermint intensified, "My son..let's go home." Turning one last time to look out at the Hunters, she gave them a smile and a look of genuine, twinkling fondness. One last surge of JOY filled the air of Deus, and in a shower of sparkles, the two disappeared. It was a happy ending, in a place where they were decidedly few. All the hunters had somehow survived a very sudden and fierce attack. The destruction was extensive, though. And the senior hunters would be back in a matter of hours, pumped full of adrenaline and looking for a fight. Happy endings do happen. Just not for you, trainees. The OOC Your trainee survives with 1 hp! Even if they were KO'd prior! Sadly all the JOY has gone out of their world for the next day or so, and those cookies? Never anymore ever again.Points: In addition to regular RP points (meet the 800 word count for an RP) you receive + 2 growth points for participating in your division's Intermediate's R Now Ur Boss thread + 2 growth points for participating in the battle + 1 growth point if your hunter at any point used a roll/turn to assist another hunter in surviving this encounter (this is just 1, not one per assist)

Was that it? Had they done it? Candace slowly backed away from the ninja and closer to where she'd seen Jerry's unconscious body, eyes narrowed and set on the large figure looming above them. She didn't expect him to essentially explode above them, giving a cry and throwing herself over Jerry to block the...screams? Her hands came up to cover her ears, trying desperately to muffle the sounds of the screaming whispers. How could whispers scream so loudly?! It was like when they had heard those shouts and cries and echoed conversations in the gorge! She had been trying so hard to block out the screams that by the time she heard his threat it as too late. Lavender eyes could only watch as the sword came down upon them. MOVE IT!!!! Right! Move..move! But..Jerry and Harrison! ********! She couldn't--
"Where did he--" There! The light! Candace got up on her feet, ready to use Atropos' charge on him when she saw the light come closer to her until she suddenly felt a stabbing pain in her gut. Candace's breath left her in a gasp, a trembling hand lifted to cover her mouth as she stumbled backward and coughed. Why was her cough...wet? She looked down at her hand and her eyes widened. She was coughing up blood. Sh..s**t...she felt so tired. No! They couldn't go down like this! ******** that! The leaders expected...better of...them? What..
Candace fell to her knees as she looked around, smiling helplessly as she searched for the source of the sudden wave of happiness filling her heart. Mmm! It smelled like cookies! Hey! It was the lady from the cafeteria! Her eyes widened and, despite the fact that she coughed more blood into her sleeve, Candace struggled to get to her feet, failed and stayed put where she was. Wait, no! If she stayed here she'd--he stopped. Why did he stop..? "Sorry?"
The light made her wince and close her eyes, turning her head away from the woman shining it. She didn't get to see the snow or the trees and decorations vanish but she certainly felt it. Her knees and hands had felt cold, a burning numbness from scraping against ice cold snow, but that sensation was suddenly gone. And she felt...sad. She hadn't felt sad in..in a long time. Especially not this sad. Candace opened her eyes and gazed upon the dark buildings that once again loomed ominously above them; everything looked a lot less cheerful and a lot more unhappy and desolate again. This was their fate...to live in this drab compound for the rest of their lives, however long they may survive through the constant battles. She loved being a hunter...so why did these thoughts make her chest tighten and her vision blur with burning tears? She pursed her lips and looked toward the woman and the ninja who now looked...a lot more cheerful. He looked almost normal.
..Mother?
Go..go home?
...No...no don't go..! Candace's eyes widened and a few tears spilled down her cheeks. "No don't...w..wait..!" But she was gone. The woman she had dubbed Mrs. Claus, who had managed to renew her love for Christmas and her belief in that magical time of year with her sweetness and her cookies and her very existence...
She was gone. No..no she couldn't be gone! No! "Come back.." She whispered, slowly pushing herself up to her feet. She stared ahead of her out the destroyed gates as if doing so would allow her to see them in the distance, like they had merely walked away. She saw no sign of the ninja nor the old woman. The old woman was theirs...they had to protect her, right? They..they had to stop her from leaving. But they couldn't. She was gone.
Why did she feel so sad? It was like all the happiness had been sucked out of her all at once. Well good riddance. All that JOY crap was making you soft. Come on, Candace! Use me! Use me! I need it! Just a little more, come on! Please, Candace! Just one. more. HIT. Candace growled, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. Just a little more! Please! I'm so close! Later Candace would realize it had not been what Atropos was doing...but at the moment it sounded as if the weapon was mocking her. She just kept begging. And it sounded exactly like when she-- PLEASE I'LL DO ANYTHING!
"Just. Shut. UP!" Candace cried, suddenly turning and kicking the nearest solid object that wasn't a person. Once. Twice. Four. Six. Seven...seven times. Atropos cried out with joy with each hit, leaving Candace panting and coughing as she fell to her knees again and unsummoned her weapon. The rings glowed almost contently. "Goddamnit.." She whimpered, falling back to sit on her a** and hug her knees to her chest. Yeah, her side was bleeding but she didn't care right now. She just felt so..sad.

Leon was glad the old lady was gone. Her cookies were doing nothing but going to the hips of the rest of the hunters.
Now there was a chance for a salad bar to be where she had the cookie making area.
Oh, and that he managed not to get his limbs hacked off by the ninja, he doubt the chuck Norris-esqe punch would have saved him.

Bix blinked.
And then blinked again.
He felt like he'd witnessed something touching and amazing and then it had fled his life forever. It left a bit of a hole in him somewhere. His shoulders slumped and when the wash of golden light came of him, Mina had fled back to her unsummoned form. He couldn't tell if she disliked it or if she knew she was now not needed.
He felt drained.
"Everybody okay?" He inquired in an exhausted tone and rubbed his face. Everyone seemed alive, even those who weren't so awake previously. "We need to.." He frowned. "Do something.. I think.. I dunno."
What a drag. "Clean up or.. something?" he was unclear what they did now and the confusion and emptiness of what happened was sort of overshadowing the fact that he and Jerry were still currently head of the Sun Division.

The screams pierced the air, asking, demanding for Home. Before wanted to tell them they were ******** free to go home, none of the trainees were trying to stop them! Because obviously this island wasn't their home and if the ninja was just asking for directions he didn't need to be so ******** violent about it! He very much wanted to yell this all out at their intruder but the screams were too loud, too insistent, too there that Before knew if he tried his voice would only be drowned out.
But then there was silence. And then there was the promise of death.
Teal eyes stared, boot-clad feet rooted to the spot as their intruder brought out his second sword. That was when Before did the unthinkable: He blinked. The next thing he knew there was blood. Crimson liquid stained the front of his clothes, seeping out of the long gash that was sliced along his chest. He never had the chance to raise Vanna to block.
Everything seemed to move slowly at that point. The colors of the world seeped out into gray as he slowly turned his head to yell out a warning to Harrison and Tori and Bix and Gale, "Y-You're Highnesses! B-Brooos!" his voice was wet and strained, the shock and confusion more than audible.
It took a moment for him to feel the pain.
Another moment to hear the screams returning in full force.
Another moment still to realize it was him screaming and that the world was turning on him. When exactly he fell, Before wasn't certain, but he knew this feeling. He remembered it too well. This terror, this helpless, this desire to be elsewhere with such intensity he could practically will himself to another location. Their training, their first training, with the masks and the killing of each other, somehow it blurred into the Gym where a scythe being wielded by someone other than its partner was mowing him down, and Before couldn't remember what he was even doing there at the time.
He felt chilly earlier but all the running and fighting had his adrenaline pumping and warming him up. Now the cold was back. And it wasn't letting him go. Before tried to rise, tried to push himself back onto his feet, but he felt so weak and so cold. He couldn't hear Vanna, her voice was too soft, but he could feel her. He could feel her fury and dismay and the sheer terror at the thought of him dying.
And it was more than likely Before was dying. Until... until that beautiful light. Through bloodied lips, the Misty managed a smile, the edges of his eyes brimming with tears. "S'alright," he wheezed out, somehow, at the woman's apology.
The smile soon left his face when the light faded. He felt strange inside. The emotions in him were not quite numb, just muted and subdued. But he managed to raise himself to a sitting position, teal eyes watching dumbly as the woman fed the intruder a cookie.
Before thought his stomach should rumble comically at the sight but he remained silent as he continued to witness the scene playing out before him. A reunion of mother and son? Touching. Or it ought to be. Before only saw such displays on sappy television shows or read about them in books. Not something he ever experienced first hand. If he had he must have been too young to remember it.
It became apparent the woman and the intruder were leaving. Correction, the woman and the intruder had left along with the happiness that had been so prevalent these past few weeks. Before blinked wordlessly, staring unseeing at the spot the pair had been in just moments ago.
A flurry of movement caught his attention, and he saw it was Candace. Kicking and kicking and kicking and kicking. Was she mad she didn't get to kill the intruder?
Silly Before? Silly Before! Vanna's voice came flooding back with renewed vigor and renewed worry.
The Misty looked up at the sky as if he was looking up at a face wrought from metal that was staring down at him. He said nothing, didn't very well feel much of anything. It had been like that day when he came back to his room after having that discussion with Candace and H. He didn't want a repeat of that. Not in front of so many people. He needed to do something to keep his mind off of his sudden unhappiness.
Mechanically, he got to wobbly feet, moved to where Tori was to help her stand and then Harrison, not making so much as a squeak or a silly joke. There was an emptiness in his eyes, but he supposed they were in the same sad state as well.
Before didn't even realize when he stopped sparkling. He was, however, aware of Bix's call to clean up. "Sure, Bro," he answered, slowly beginning to drag away pieces of rubble. Focus on the task. Clean things up. That was all Before wanted to do right now.
