James Wilson "Oh well that's just bloody great."James said after the lights went off,"Was it supposed to even snow tonight?"He asked carefully standing up so he would trip or anything.

Todd Brandt "Hm, funny." Todd smirked simply when James picked the creepy card. He looked to Zooey who was clearly embarassed about it. "Be proud of the things you like." He said thoughtfully while looking down at his cards. It had been the first time this whole evening that he directly said something to Zooey and to say the least he was stunned with himself afterwards. Before Todd could find a card good for the word fancy the lights suddenly went out. At first he thought Rachel was playing some scare tactic on everyone but that proved not to be the cause as he heard the sound of the wind blowing powerfully outside of the window. Oddly enough, Todd was taking a liking to the darkness. It was so very peaceful and brought out the white glow of the falling snow outside.

Courtney Berkly As the lights went out, Courtney had just finished choosing her card that best described "fancy". She had decided on "flowers" and placed it face down. She had actually felt pretty good about her choice. Courtney sighed at the power outage. "What lovely time for a power outage, huh?" She joked but she was glad the lights were out because no one could see the real fear in her eyes. She hated power outages and would become scared when they happened.

Rachel felt her heartbeat quicken as she reached into her pocket for her cellphone. She was not a huge fan of the dark and breathed a sigh of relief when she pushed a button on her phone to light her way back to the living room. "Everyone alright?" she asked, moving her phone to look at her friends.
"Keep your light over here, Rach," Brett said, continuing on his way to the fireplace. Rachel followed him and he took the box of matches to light the candle on the mantle. He worked his way around the room to light the rest of the candles before focusing his attention on the fireplace. "Well, this is cozy," Brett said, smiling after he got the fire started.
"It is," Rachel agreed, putting her cellphone back. "But if this lasts too long then I can't make dinner..." She frowned. She was looking forward to making spaghetti and meatballs for everyone.

James Wilson James looked at Rachel,"Hey, you alright?"He asked walking over to her,"You look like you've seen a ghost."He said looking at her. He always felt a little protective of her, even before she even know who he was.

Zooey looked over at Todd, surprised that he had actually spoken to her. She gave a small smile and nodded. "I suppose you're right." She looked at her cards for something fancy and jumped when the lights flickered and finally went off. "Not funny Rach!" she called out, but when Rachel returned with a worried look on her face, Zooey became worried herself. She was fine with the dark and the possibility of being snowed in at Rachel and Brett's house, but the power going out always made her think of similar situations in horror movies. She hated horror movies. Even when Brett lit the candles and started the fire, Zooey's fears did not lessen.

"What?" Rachel asked, turning to James. "Oh... I'm fine..." She chuckled nervously. "I just... I don't like the dark very much. I'll be fine with the candles and fire, but I won't be leaving the room alone now... Thanks for asking..." She blushed, hoping that it did not show in the candlelight.
Brett turned around and saw James taking care of his sister. Despite being the younger twin, Brett still felt his brotherly instincts surfacing. From what he could tell, James seemed like a good guy, but Brett did not know much about him other than the fact he was the new kid from London. What am I thinking? Brett returned to his seat and picked up his cards. He's just making sure Rachel is okay. That doesn't mean that he likes her... right? He looked up at the two and noticed that his sister was blushing.

Courtney Berkly Courtney giggled a Zooey's reaction, thinking that Rachel had turned off the lights when really it was power outage but inside Courtney shook. She was able to relax when the candles and fire was lit, creating a nice lightening, though it was nothing compared to actually having the lights on but that currently wasn't an option. Courtney watched James and Rachel talk, it was obvious to her that James wasn't just "checking" like he claimed to be but she smiled at him, it was sweet of him to ask her. As Rachel answered his question she giggled, Rachel had pretty much summed up exactly how Courtney was feeling about the whole situation. "You're not alone there!" Courtney hid her fear behind a small laugh as she agreed with Rachel.

Rachel nodded, but on the inside she was a little disappointed. James had sounded like he was genuinely concerned about her and then he said he was just checking. Rachel sighed and sat down next to the coffee table. "Who still has to play a red card?"
Brett watched Rachel and James and shook his head at James' response. You just lost yourself a couple points, he thought, noticing the disappointment on his sister's face. Even if everyone else could not see it, Brett could read his sister as easily as she could read him. They were twins after all.

Zooey threw down a random card and wrapped her arms around herself. She watched Rachel and James for a couple seconds before looking back down at the cards on the table. You're going to be fine, Zooey, she told herself. You're with your friends... Nothing is going to happen... Scary movies aren't real... She closed her eyes and continued to think positive thoughts as she waited for Rachel to judge.

Todd Brandt Todd found a decent card with the word ring on it and laid it down in the pile. He wasn't nervous and actually was finding this whole situation peaceful, though if anything was going to start making him uneasy it would be the noticable fearfulness of others around him. He shoved these feelings off though and watched the interaction of Rachel and James unfold. James seemed pretty disappointed in himself after that but wait at least he had the guts to try and comfort. Todd realized how neglectful he was being himself with not comforting others, but he wasn't very good at it being such an intrevert as he was. He looked at Zooey curiously when her eyes were closed. He hesitated for sometime thinking of what to say and swallowed uncomfortably. "You know Z-Zooey, when I'm scared I try to think of something funny...What kind of things make you laugh?" He dared to say.

Courtney Berkly Courtney glanced around the dimly lit room, for her it was now changing from something mildly scary to some thing actually relaxing. However as she gazed around she noticed Zooey was really struggling with the power being out. Courtney scrambled to think of something... anything to get Zooey's mind off of the power outage, before she could say something Todd had already beat her to it. A smile appeared on Courtney's face as she watched yet another guy's concern for someone he liked, she was a hopeless romantic and she never tried to deny it. A gentle, approving sigh slipped from her lips. "That's a great idea Todd! Something funny will surely help!" Courtney had a gentle blush rise to her cheeks, luckily for her it wasn't too visible in the lighting they were in.

Rachel picked up the cards everyone had played and looked through them. "Wow... Everyone seems so enthusiastic this round." she said sarcastically. "I'm going to go with 'flowers'..." She put the cards in the discard pile and listened to Todd and Courtney talking to Zooey. Rachel looked over at her, surprised she had not noticed how scared her friend was. However, Todd and Courtney seemed to be helping just fine. Rachel smiled, glad that Todd was actually talking to Zooey. She hoped that things would work out for them. She then looked at James, wondering how things would be for them. Would their kiss be just a kiss?
Brett listened to Todd's suggestion to Zooey and nodded his approval. He then turned to Courtney when she spoke and smiled at her agreement. Realizing he had been staring for longer than necessary, Brett looked down at his cards and pretended to look over them. He hoped Courtney had not noticed.
