Ryuu was scratched and a thin line showed the claws of the Nincada. Furious, he charged forward into the smoke aiming to Bite his opponent!

Luck was not on Ryuu's side during this portion of the confrontation, yet it seemed to be fully with the Nincada. Quickly and easily as a leaf caught upon the wind the insect would flip about through the air and out of the range of the Larvitar's jaws. Ryuu had been making some headway before now, but it seemed like that was all going up in smoke....something the Nincada seemed intent on making quite literal.
">BANG!<" The annoyingly familiar cry came as another smokebomb struck the ground, filling the air with an array of putrid gray fog.
Body blending with the fumes perfectly, the Nincada would dart swiftly forward, claws producing the faintest clack against the tatami. Swinging his arms as he drew closer to Ryuu, the Bug-Type would do as he had before, aiming to take the Larvitar down with a might Scratch!

(( O.O.C// Curses Fang for rolling so many twenties .__. ))Ryuu slipped and lost his footing while lunging for the bug. Tumbling forward, he landed in a heap on the ground. Growling slightly to himself, he slowly got back up. Enough time had passed that his opponent had let loose another smoke bomb and was now charging towards him. The attack seemed to be gaining momentum and he tried to move to the right. This attack would be hard to miss and he couldn't just hope that his rock hard exterior would block the attack.

(20 - 5) + (9 - 10) = 14/2 = 7 DMG
This time Ryuu would really feel it as the Nincada's claws tore into his flesh. Had his body not been as tough as any mountain, that strike likely would have ended this battle here and now. As it happened however it did not, and so the insect would once again retreat into the obscurity of another cloud of smoke ">BANG!<"

Ryuu roared with anger when he felt the bug's claws dig into his flesh. No, he needed to change his method. The Larvitar charged into the smoke searching desperately for his opponent. His eyes began to glow as he tried Leering at his opponent!

It was a nice try, but so long as the smoke pervaded the area one rule stayed true for the Nincada; what you couldn't see, couldn't hurt you. Of course Ryuu would find out soon enough that the opposite wasn't even remotely true.
Crouching low for an instant, the insect would spring forward, sailing through the air with a both claws outstretched. Covered by the gray fog he'd created, the Bug-Type had taken the time to circle around to the Larvitar's back, and now he was preparing to dig both claws into his opponents exposed behind! This was a Scratch to being new meaning to the phrase 'pain in the a**'!

The Larvitar missed and was flailing around in the smoke. For some reason, he was still surrounded by the gray fog. The smoke bomb had done it's job and he couldn't see anything. Pausing to close his eyes, he just stopped and listened. For a few seconds, all the sounds were overwhelming. But as he began to sort he heard something coming from...in front? No. Behind! His eyes glowed eerily, as he tried to once again Leer at his opponent and stop the bug in it's tracks!

Surprisingly that one look would succeed in doing what so many attacks prior had not; the Nincada would stop in his tracks. The smoke would clear and the Ninja Bug would remain where he was, standing perfectly still. He presented no visible defense; but in the world of Pokemon that didn't always mean anything.

The Larvitar stepped closer to his opponent, eyes still glowing. He was tempted to look away and then capture his opponent once again with Leer. As he came until he was almost in front of the Nincada, his mind flipped back and forth as decisions flickered rapidly through his thoughts. Do this. Do that. It was like two voices were arguing over his brain. Irritated, he closed his eyes for a few seconds. However as he reopened them, the glow was gone and he reached forward to snap at the bug with Bite!

Once more Ryuu would find his teeth tearing into the Nincada's shell, furthering the cracks he'd created before. The audible crunch of his exoskeleton would cause the Nincada to momentarily flinch, providing his opponent with ample opening to strike again.

After crunching down fiercely on the bug's outer shell, he had immediately backed away. The Larvitar had expected the whiplash attack that was sure to follow but surprisingly none came. He glanced curiously at his opponent to realize that it hadn't moved. Maybe the shock had spread through it, freezing the bug into place. It was the perfect opportunity to strike again. He considered Leering but this opportunity was too good to waste. Pushing off with his feet to add a little bit of force, he lunged aiming to crack open that shell with a Bite!

Once more Ryuu's teeth would sink into the Nincada's hardened body, widening the cracks in it's exoskeleton...but amazingly the insect still refused to fall. Claws digging into the tatami, the Nincada continued to stand. Flinching from the pain however, the Larvitar would be provided with yet another opening. Could he finish it all in this one last glorious chance?

That was it, the moment where the Nincada's skilfully honed reflexes would kick in. Ducking low the insect would swipe out at the Larvitar while he was in close, hoping to land another Scratch!
