Ulmuka looked back up at the ceiling of the tunnel with a determined glint in his wide eyes. He glanced around just a moment to see if anyone but Vero was around. He toed off his pointed shoes revealing long feet with wicked talons, very much like his fingers. Perhaps using his talons to climb would help him reach the candy at such a height.
This would be his last attempt at flying towards the ceiling so he tried to make it work. He flapped his wings and managed to cling to the wall near the cieling. His fingers dug into the garbage but he'd hit a loose spot and everything underneath his hands and feet started to slip and fall towards the ground.
"ACK!!" He landed clumsily, but on his feet. "Not trying that again!" He giggled and sat down to put his shoes back on.

With his shoes back on his feet he set back to the normal grind of mining. He knew they had to be close to their goal. He and Vero had been here for quite a while! He moved a little ways down, away from the wall that they seemed to have dug clean.
Choosing a new spot seemed to pay off as a few pieces tumbled into his bucket. "Over here Vero! A new sweet spot!"

"Is there?" Blinking, Vero slowly made his way back down the wall to Ulmuka. Apparently he had been transfixed by watching the strix crash and flail. Before he did, however, he gave the wall one last experimental tap and procured a final piece of candy for the taking.

Thankfully the new sweet spot was not so far away. The last thing Vero wanted was to be lost in these trashy tunnels - even if it was with a friend. "Let us see . . ." And not even a minute of mining later, Vero produced two more candies. "You are correct! Perhaps luck does smile upon us."

In spite of their new collective finds, the spirit was a touch tired from their constant mining. "A small break . . ." He sat back down and let the pickaxe rest beside him for the moment. "Wearied hands do nothing for the job, after all."

[ ROCK CANDY GET: 1 ]"These hands never weary!" He cackled, once more a tad too loud, but he seemed to realize mid-screech and tone it down. "The goal is within sight!" He glanced into the resting spirit's bucket and hissed in glee. "Closer for you than me it seems! I have to catch up." Picking in the same spot didn't prove a very solid plan. Looking around, he wiggled over to another spot, hoping his luck might be better over there.

Perhaps so . . . One look at his bucket did remind the spirit how close he was to appeasing the lord of Halloween hobos. Still, Vero was happy to have been able to sit down, even if only for a minute or so. In return, he managed to mine several more rock candies near Ulmuka's spot.
"In the hive, that would have earned me the switch," he said as a-matter-of-factly. "They say that if you are switched enough and get high in the ranks, they give you your own; that is why most of us don't mind the punishment. Our armor absorbs most of the impact anyway."

Minnie came back with her soul eater pet, Soul. She digs up. But sadly, nothing appeared. She took a rest for 5 minutes, and then went digging again.

She digged again. Sadly, got nothing again. Soul hissed. "I know soul. Just keep digging." And so he digs again with soul.
