Guen was somewhat suprised when Talia's more subdued friend broke away from the group and made her way over to the table. She noticed the face she made as she took her first sip of punch- so she tasted it too? But she'd come back to get more anyway, so it must be ok. She was definitely startled when the quiet-looking girl actually addressed her. Caught staring slightly rudely, she hastened to answer the other young lady's inquiry. "Ah, uh, Guen, s'nice to meet you," she mumbled, blushing slightly. She felt weird. The room felt...hot. Talking took more concentration than it usually did. What...Did the upperclassmen spike the punch? She glanced around worriedly. In so doing, she nearly missed Griffin's invitation. "Wha? You mean...Dance? I..." She paused. I what? She felt...good. She felt like some of her normal inhibitions had been lifted. Was she drunk? Did she care? She grinned back, and did a sloppy curtsy, offering up her arm for the third time that night. "I'd be delighted!"

xxxxxGosh this girl talked funny. Talia wondered where she had became so ... eloquent? Maybe she was just one of those stuffy types that were born outside of their time period. Bebe was probably meant for the fifties. Either that or somewhere in the far future. She was sort of a combination of both. At least it made for a cute prom outfit.
xxxxxTalia through her hands up as the next song came on the speakers and floated its way to the twosome. It was totally her jam. She broke into a few of her special dance moves, and pulled at Bebe playfully, trying to bring her out of that shy "I-Don't-Want-To-Dance" mood.
xxxxxAt her question though, Talia paused to look up at the "band" singing. "How can you not know them?!" she shouted over the music. It was more of a shout of shock than true disapproval. Talia was absolutely baffled that anyone could not know who Justin Bieber was. Truthfully, Talia didn't even like him that much, but how could you be so in the dark?
xxxxx"His name is Justin Bieber!" she continued to shout. "But most people just call him Bieber." She smiled and pointed to the other members, "And those ones are from the show glee! I love that show ... Young? I don't think so, but I guess I could see that point of view. Come to think of it, what kind of music do you listen to Bebe?" Noticing that she was babbling she giggled awkwardly and wished Griffin and Guen would join them already. Drunk or not, it would be nice to have someone she didn't feel completely awkward with.

Griffin smiled at Guen. What a nice name. What a nice girl! The four girls could just dance the night away! Although, traditionally, dances wound down after the court was crowned, but she didn't think about that for now. The two walked back to the other girls and Griffin seemed to float across the floor, although it was probably a bit more awkward than that to the casual observer. She pouted at Talia when she called her 'the drunk camper', huffy, she stomped her foot and said, " Hey! I resent that!" For good measure, she stuck out her tongue. Feeling as though Talia had been sufficiently shown, she then turned back to Guen and offered her a hand and invited her to dance. If Guen accepted, then she'd be in for a good box step. It was the only dance Griffin knew apart from those that went along with songs (see: Movin it like Bernie).

She really couldn't do it. Watching the thrusts and shakes of the people around her was nerve-jarring enough, let alone contemplating doing such a .. a completely undignified thing herself. The jitterbug? No problem. Ballroom? She could go head to head with the best of them. But this hips hopping or whatever it was called, she couldn't bring herself to do it. Not in a million years. So gently swinging from side to side she remained. Wincing faintly when the other girl began to shout, she replied back in a voice that was consciously controlled. "Well I realize I'm quite behind when it comes to current culture. It just doesn't hold any real substance or interest value for me. And I don't listen to much music, I'm afraid. It grates on my nerves." Smiling apologetically, she looked over at Guen and the older girl, noticing them arriving on the dance floor. Well, there went any plans of convincing Talia to join them at the punch bowl. Well, at least with them on the floor perhaps her energetic partner might be persuaded to focus on something other than getting her to join in on the whole dancing thing. "Oh, and here comes the other two. Come, let's join them."

Guen smiled at the other girl, and went to grab her hand when she happened to glance over at Talia and Bebe. Had she completely abandoned he psuedo-date like that? She blushed a bit. Oops. Talia was a good friend, but she knew from experience she could be a little overwhelming, especially perhaps for someone as proper as Bebe. She bit her lip, but suddenly had an idea. Hmm, the music was...bad, but she might be able to pull it off. Maybe. She grinned sheepishly at Griffin and said apologetically, "I shou' prolly stick to my, er, date-" blush again, they were just there as friends, but it sounded so weird -"but if there's time I'd love to!" Was she talking funny? It felt like there was cotton in her mouth. No matter. She strode forward to meet the other two girls, and bowed in a gentlemanly fashion. "I'm sorry, din' mean to ditch you like that," she said somewhat indistinctly. She held her hands out and up, in a pose that mimicked the sort of stiff waltz she'd seen done in movies. "Care to dance?" She offered, grinning a little at Bebe. She had a sneaking suspicion she'd be really embarrassed about this later. Was she trying to waltz? To Beiber? And she didn't really know how to dance!

A sudden vibrating in Talia's bag alerted her that the prom wasn't just floating off in space. It was still on Earth, there were still other people, there was still ...
Her father.
She stared at the caller ID on her cellphone and sighed, rolling her eyes. What perfect timing dear Daddy. She quietly excused herself from the group of girls to answer her phone. Angrily. "Dad. What is it?" she demanded. It was a tad hard to miss the irritation in her voice.
"Did you check the time?"
Talia sighed and removed the phone from her ear to check the time. 11:16 "It's eleven sixteen, so?"
"It's getting late, you need to come home."
Talia's eyebrows furrowed. "Why do I have to come home! Prom's not even done yet!" Well, it was sort of true. It seemed like things were winding down, but it certainly wasn't over!
"Come home or you're grounded."
Talia pressed the end call button and slammed her phone shut. This was so stupid but she was too obedient to not do it. Regardless of any air she put off, Talia was not a rebellious child. She walked over to the group of girls she had been giggling with and said, "Ughhh. My dad said I have to go home. Sorry guys, I'll see you later!"
With that, she skated out the door, and headed home very angrily. When she got home she didn't even talk to either of her parents. Talia instead opted to run up to her room, shut the door and sit there sadly in her room. What a wonderful way to end prom night.
