"Might be unprotected flesh, but thats the point. Stiffs like him see a girl like me dressed like I do and all they think is "civillian, easy prey, harmless, helpless". She ticked the words off on her fingers her lips pursing slightly in thought.

"To them I'm just a piece of meat to have, and most of them think they can just take it." She shrugged, not seeing to be bothered by it. What was there to be bothered by? She could get upset about it but the behavior of men towards women was trivial...and rather unimportant in the grand sense. At least now.

Nyssa had been acting funny when she'd arrived home. She didn't berate Calista for being out without telling her where she was going; she didn't even mention the new dress. Then she started talking about some woman - and Calista knew that something was going on. Nyssa never met people. She never socialised.

And then, this place. It popped up where Calista's closet should have been. Either she was dreaming, or Nyssa had some serious explaining to do.

A part of the young woman knew that she should wait for Nyssa to come find her, and then decide whether to actually go inside. But that wasn't going to happen. She wasn't going to let Nyssa take the credit for a discovery like this one - and she certainly wasn't going to take orders from her Better Than Thou sister, either. So, she spent a second composing herself: long blonde curls braided; cheeks carefully pinched; shoes cleaned of the dusty outside dirt; and she was ready.

"Okay," she muttered, stepping inside. "This is weird."

It was like another world.

Danny nodded. “Too bad it’s the same where I’m from. Even when our greatest leaders and warriors are women there are still thickheads who imagine women as weak.” He grinned slowly. “But I’ve seen plenty of that type get what they deserve at the hands of their intended victims.”

He noticed a new person enter the café looking as confused and curious as he probably had. He smiled at her to be nice.

The people were not what Calista was expecting. Although exactly what she was expecting she could not be sure once she had entered. The place had grown out of her closet, after all. She glanced around, fixing her mouth into a small smile, a somewhat effective attempt at appearing seductive. Or at the very least, simply attractive.

She caught the look of the man across the room, and fixed him with a cool, long stare. Her greyish eyes were piercing, glinting in the light. If she couldn't find the fun in town, why not play the game in her own bedroom?

"Well, then," she whispered to herself. "A fish. A fish..." And then, to Danny, "Mind if I come join you? I'm awfully lonesome."

“Sure,” Danny said, smiling. Everyone he met here seemed just a little odd. But maybe he’d spent too long not trusting people. "I'm Danny."

"Danny, huh." Calista grinned and held out her hand. Her nails were neat and long, manicured only two days ago with glossy clear polish; she had stolen it. The thrill of the theft had been nothing until she swore it, spread it across her nails. The thrill came from knowing that it did not belong to her, and that even if people knew, there was nothing they could do about it.

"I'm Calista. Or Cal. Your choice." She lowered herself gracefully into a seat beside him, leaning in a little too close. She could feel the tension surrounding him, and that made him all the more delicious to look at. She was seventeen, pretty, and he was going to feel it.

She wished, just for a second, that she had chosen the criminally short dress. The thought didn't last long, though. After all, she didn't want to appear as simple as all that. She wanted to lure, have a little fun, and then leave without a problem.

Was that too much to ask?

"So, Danny... What brings you to a place like this?"

Danny shrugged. “I stumbled in unexpectedly. I thought I was running into an abandoned building, but when I came through the door, well…” he waved toward the counter. “And how about you?”

"I came through my closet." Calista smirked and leaned closer still. "But let's not talk about that: a closet is just a box in a bedroom; I'm more interested in you. What, or who, were you running from?" She leaned back in her chair and waved for the waitress to bring her something - preferably alcoholic. She didn't care what time it was.

"It must have been pretty scary though, to make you run." She grinned again, this time showing her teeth. Danny was too relaxed around her - in fact, he barely even seemed to notice her - which was not at all like any of the other boys she usually spent her time with.

Calista wasn't sure what she thought about that.

“A closet?” Danny laughed. “There goes my theory that this place appears for people in need.” He took a sip of his coffee, giving him a moment to think. She reminded him of someone. It had taken awhile for it to click, but with her blonde hair and the cunning gleam in her greyish eyes she could be a shadow from the past.

“I was running from a group of enemy soldiers.” He sat back in his chair, wondering how much he could tell her. “They’re inhuman creatures built for war. Golems.” Would she believe him? “The enemy has been trying to capture me for years, but Golems aren’t very clever. If I slip out of sight they don’t know where to look, so they don’t worry me too much.”

Tomie blinked her lips drawing into a frown. What had happened. Carefully she eyed the girl, she had seen her come in, come over and start trying to suduce Danny, but she hadn't really been paying attention.

Why on earth hadn't she been paying attention? Oh that's right "Something stiff." She muttered out loud. "That." And she looked over at the corpse in the door way. No one had really bothered about it, it was just there. "Guess I should fix that...Hmm."

Pressing herself back in her chair to scoot it out from the table she looked towards Danny. "Perhaps she did need this place, just not in the sense you thought. I was out looting...ran into mr. stiff pants over there and ended up in here which should of been an old dust nearly collapsed building. He's dead I'm fine and well I really didn't need this place for shelter or anything, but-" She let the word extend until it faded to a rush of air, "I definitely needed better company then men trying to kill me and an OCD, mysophobe, neurotic crock of a killer."

The sorceress confidently opened a door and strolled inside as if she owned the place. Even upon looking around, not a shadow of concern crossed her expression. The woman did raise her eyebrows in amusement at the sights around her, however.

Clad in flowing rose-colored robes, the woman had fair skin and long waves of black hair. Her eyes were bright green and shone with a mischievous light, and her wide grin resembled that of the Cheshire Cat; overly cheerful with more than a taste of madness and malice. She lowered her hood and revealed her pointed ears, obviously elven, before striding to the bar. She leaned over to a bartender and pleasantly requested wine, casting a sideways glance and smile at those seated beside her.

((Sorry this has taken so long. Computer troubles and all that jazz. Anyways, I'm going to bring Calista back into the fray since she's one of this year's characters and needs a lot of work...))

Calista watched the new arrival over the top of her glass. She took in the woman's long robes, pointed ears and long flowing hair, and decided that she was worth a conversation. The woman looked sort of haughty, which Calista found appealing; even her order at the bar was sophisticated. Calista took a sip of her drink, partly for courage and partly so she wouldn't feel bad about wasting it, and then left the rest on the table. With no more than a nod to her current company, she pushed her chair away and began to wander towards the newcomer.

She sauntered up behind the woman as quietly, yet stylishly, as possible, and then placed her elbows on the counter, gazing up at her from between thick, curling eyelashes.

"I'll get this one," Calista announced by way of introduction. "I need a drink myself."

She paused, fishing for the money in her purse - stolen from her sister - and then placed a couple of rolled up bills on the bar. "I'll have what she's having," she said. Then, turning to the elven woman, raised an eyebrow and held out her hand. "I'm Calista - and you've obviously never been here before."

Inwards Calista cursed; that had sounded a lot smoother in her head.
