Apple Blossom blinked for a moment and looked around the area for any signs of the baby's mother, "I don't know, sweety, she might be too far away to hear you..."

“But mommy always hears me, no matter where she is. It just takes her a little longer sometimes than others,” Shol insisted, firmly.

"Well..." she said biting her lower lip in thought. "Maybe you can call for her as we walk?" She nodded approving of that plan. "Yes, that should work! Eventually we should be close enough for her to hear you, how does that sound?"

He considered that for a long moment then grinned. “Okay! We can call for her while we walk. But you gotta yell for her, too,” he said firmly. “If we don’t both yell then she might not hear us. Two voices are louder than one, right?”

Apple Blossom giggled and nodded, "I guess you're right there. But what should I call her? I don't think "Mom" or anything like that will quite work..."

“Why not?” Shol asked, tilting his head curiously. Right about then, there would be a rustling to their left, the bushes shaking slightly. The small boy squeaked and jumped to hide behind Apple Blossom. “It’s a monster!”

Apple moved to protect the baby but frowned at the shivering bushes in puzzlement, "I don't know...monsters usually do more than just hide in some bushes...Hello there?"

Blossom stumbled out of the bushes and blinked. "Oh, hello!" she said, cheerfully. "Sorry, did I startle you? I didn't mean to."
Shol peeked out from behind Apple Blossom and squealed happily, practically throwing himself at the other mare. "MOMMY! I was looking all over for you! See, other mommy? I told you that my mommy would find me if I yelled for her! She always finds me when I yell for her," he finished, smugly.

The mare just laughed, her heart touched by the endearing sight of the baby with his too long lost mother, "Well, that's one type of introduction. I've been trying to help little Shol here find you for sometime. He seemed to have wondered off a little too far."

Blossom chuckled. "Believe it or not, Shol isn't even my most adventersome little one. Thank you for helping him."
"Her name's Blossom, too," Shol informed his mother, hyperly. "Just like you! and she's a mommy like you, to. Does that mean that all mommies are named Blossom? Are are you the only mommies?"

Apple Blossom joined the other mother in her laughter, "I simply can't imagine what your other children could be like. Shol is quite the brave little one though, and so very curious, but I'm sure I'm not telling you anything new. And my name is Apple Blossom, as he's said." She beamed at the baby's rapid fire questions, "You know Shol, there might be some other mommies out there named Blossom, but I bet there's lots more with many different names."

“Really?” Shol asked, wide eyed, as though the idea didn’t occur to him. Of course, to the young foal, it probably hadn’t. The idea that all mommies were named Blossom like his made sense. Just like it made sense that all families were like his.
"Really," Blossom smiled. "Just like not all little boys are named Shol."
"Right!" he nodded. This, at least, did make sense. After all, his brother was named Etan, so of course not all little boys were named Shol like him. "And not all daddies are named Imoo?" he guessed.
"That's right," Blossom giggled.
"What's your daddy's name?" Shol asked, rounding on Apple blossom, eyes alight with curiosity.

"My mate is Johnny," she said grinning. "He likes apples too. Gives us a lot to talk about," she added with a wink and a giggle. "He plants the trees, I help eat the apples, I figure it's the least I can do after all the hard work he goes through for them." She eyed Blossom and added, "I also discovered that your boy has a fondness for apples too."

"His name," Apple Blossom said happily. "I like it. Sounds really good next to 'Apple Seeds' - he almost always has those with him, you know, just in case he finds a perfect spot for a new tree." She nodded her head, "He's always looking for a nice place for an orchard."
