Kunstig merely shrugged. If that were the case than he supposed her reaction to Parisette was only logical. He did not well know the blue lioness, but somehow picturing his singing companion smacking a helpless cub just didn't quite fit right. "What matters is that she's safe." Or so he supposed. "Are you going to keep her then?" No sooner had the words left his mouth than he winced. It did not come out the way he'd wanted it to. At all. Ugh. Since when had he gotten tactless?

Parisette nodded, as he spoke about her being safe, before glancing up at his question. She looked amused at the rather blunt question. "I think I have to now," she said with a faint giggle at the cub who clung rather desperately. "Plus, she's my cubs age," she explained gently. "I don't think I could give her away."

The cub relaxed a little at those words, but continued to stay close to Parisette, eyeing Kunstig with those wide yes.

"I should probably take her out of the forest," she admitted, "get her seen to by the nurses. Father would be pleased to hear we found another too." She could only hope that others would find others, and that all the cubs would be kept safe. "Are you two planning to stay out and look?" She asked, peering at Kunstig's sister too, including them both in the question.

Moilik was not pleased by the sudden new arrivals, and did bristle slightly as he sibling shrank back against her. She would protect him from them if there were a problem. All the racing about and yelling about brutes harming cubs. It had been more pleasant in the forest before the little ones were lost. And who had done this? That foolish lioness whom had been looking after them. A proper mother would never have done such a thing. Their mother had not.

“She does need a mother,” the lioness agreed when her brother asked the female if she planned on keeping the cub. It was the same age as her own? Well then. That was that wasn’t it. Of course, when asked what they planned to do, the lioness looked to her brother again. Kunstig was the one who made plans. She was simply the one who backed them up. And him as well.

Maua had nodded to Parisette and wandered off again in search of more cubs when the blue lioness had seemed enthralled by the green creature that had claimed her. If it had been any other lioness...Maua shook her head slightly, there was no point in dwelling on the near miss surely there was still some to be found and it would help no one to stand about and prattle on about the unfortunate event.

Passing a log she suddenly realized that she'd been lost enough in her thoughts that she wasn't even sure if Raziela was still following her and pausing she turned about to check. Kivuli would be cranky if something happened to one of his daughters in these woods and of course Maua would be upset too.

In the slight confusion that had followed the fusion of the several lions in one spot chasing the green cub, Raziela had all but gotten herself separated from her mother. She had been set on heading off in the opposite direction when Pan, ever watchful, had come and fairly herded her back toward her mother.

Grateful was a slight understatement. No matter how much Raziela put faith in the power of destiny and the fact that whatever happened had been destined to happen, she couldn't quite help but feel nervous, so far away from the surroundings she had spent her entire life in.

"Thank you, Pan," she whispered down to the maned wolf, hurrying to catch up to Maua. "I apologize, Mother," she said, shaking her head. "I didn't mean to hinder your search."

Ah good! she hadn't just marched off and left her daughter alone , that would have been a rather terrible thing to do. Sure her daughter was an adult...but a proper noble and so unfamiliar with these cheerless desolate woods and whatever creatures might roam in them. She - Maua - needed to recall that and pay more attention to her surroundings and less attention to her inner thoughts.

"Not your fault dear, I'm afraid I just got caught up in my own world and neglected to make sure you saw me leave" She assured her daughter. "shall we continue looking down the stream or try someplace else do you think?"

Mot'e nodded. It seemed like such a terrible thing to take a bunch of cubs into a foreign place and leave them to fend for themselves. She tutted and shook her head. It was shameful! She wouldn't really blame the female that had lost them all, as to her understanding there was a ton of little babies, and cubs did get out of hand quite easily, but they were just as likely to be caught underfoot. If only that were the case!

She nodded to Melda. "Maybe one of us should hunt for food and the other one for cubs?" She tilted her head, wondering if that too, was a good idea.

"That's a fabulous idea!" Melda hummed, "I think we should definitely split up. It'll save more time. But where shall we meet up again? The edge of the forest?" With all the lions and cubs that would be around, she wasn't sure she'd be able to find her again. Hopefully the others would take their newly found cubs away from the forest as soon as possible.

It would be helpful in making things clearer around the forest.

"Why don't I do the hunting, and you continue to search for the cubs? I'm not very good at tracking, anyway, and I think I'd be better suited hunting more familiar pray. At least they're easier to find than these poor cubs seem to be!" The scholar chuckled lightly.

Kivuli had taken his time seeing to the cubs needs, The cub, who's name turned out to be Nalani, had been fed, cleaned and was now resting under the supervision of a nurse. He wanted to make sure she was completely healthy and the nurse assured him that she would look after the cub while he returned to the forest. Kivuli had been a bit hesitant to leave the cub behind, worried that she might wake while he was gone and think that she had been abandoned once more. But the knowledge that Maua and a few of his children were still searching the forest, which in turn meant there were more cubs to be found, drew him back there.

After pausing a moment to speak with those who waited at the edge of the forest Kivuli found out that several other cubs had been found and brought to safety but more still remained in the forest. That would not due and set stepped into the trees to start the search anew. He would also keep his eyes out for his mate and daughters who were also still looking. Kivuli needed to make sure his family was safe, as well as the remaining cubs and search party members. He was not sure of what places had and hadn't been thoroughly searched other than catching the fresh scent and trampled grasses in certain areas. But the forest was large and there was still a good portion left unchecked.

On instinct he traveled towards where the majority of the groundlings lived. Perhaps the cubs had seen or heard the other lions and were drawn to their voices in hopes of finding shelter and food. And if not he could converse with some of the groundlings, whom he knew quite well considering how often he had come to fetch Nyota from their forest, to see if they had seen any signs of the cubs. "I am here to help." He said walking along the path that would lead him towards the groundling dens. Could a cub even be hiding in one of their dens while the groundlings attended to their daily activities. Possibly, so it was worth checking out.

His roamed roamed over the area as they walked, on either side of them was the forest and to their immediate left was the stream. He wondered about their next step, where could they look next for the cubs? They had checked a good chunk of the stream, a portion of the forest, stuck their head into practically every hole, crevice and nook and cranny but had found nothing. They had tried calling out to the cub, walking casually, searching high and low, heck Gali had even tried laying in the mud of the stream and to no avail. He glanced sidelong at her, it was nice to meet a lioness who wasn't afraid to get dirty when the situation called for it.

"Indeed." He said in regard to her words. "And there are those that are suited to life in the rogue lands and would be downright miserable within a pride." He brought his paws to a stop. "Are we going about this all wrong?" He questioned and then realizing his question may be a bit vague he clarified. "For finding the cubs I mean. I'm certain there is no perfect way to find them, but I feel like we are missing something, something important." The offers of safety, food, water and company had not brought any cub out of hiding, assuming that there were any nearby to hear their offers. He glanced off to the forest. "We are trying to find you!" He called out, even though they had tried that plenty of times. "But we cannot help if you remain hidden."

"If there are any lion cubs left," Gali replied, "I think they are choosing to stay hidden."

As Kamau looked away, Gali looked to him, taking in his profile and coloring with one firm sweep of her eyes. With Maua's involvement in his arrival or not, Kamau would have done well as a noble regardless. Gali wasn't sure if that was a compliment to him or not. Of course, she had her own noble qualities, so she couldn't exactly fault him for that without labeling herself a hypocrite and a hypocrite Gali was not.

"They feel don't need protection, or they don't want to learn how to better protect themselves at least. I imagine you could show them a thing or two about survival, and I have my own skills to offer." They were all of them Scholars in a way. Teaching the young. Gali wasn't about to go calling into the forest anymore. The amount of searchers who had done that and found... well, had they found nothing? Gali couldn't be sure. Still, whatever was going on, it wasn't working for her or Kamau.

"The older cubs are likely doing their best to protect the small ones. They would have had to to survive in the rogue lands." She looked into the stream and thought of her elder sister again. "Not everyone can easily adapt from rogue life to pride life the way you have been able to. Some need to learn how to be part of the pride."

He couldn't disagree with that. And if they cubs were chosen to remain hidden then they had two options, continue to actively search for them, looking in every hiding spot imaginable or they could stay right where they were. It was not the normal way you found what was lost but he was willing to give it a try. "Sometimes, things that are hidden remain that way because they do not wish to be found, perhaps we should try a different approach. Why not stay in one spot? Perhaps they will come to us when they are ready." It made sense to him, for if they didn't wish to be found perhaps they wished to seek out the adults when they felt ready to be found.

Lowering himself onto his haunches Kamau glanced out across the stream, he wasn't looking for a cub hidden under a bush this time, but taking in the scenery. "I'm sure that they are looking out for each other, they would have liked formed some type of friendships amongst themselves and it will be that that will see them through this transition and rough time better than anything else."

Glancing over at his companion he saw her gazing into the stream and wondered just what was on her mind, but he did not press her about it, that would be rude of him to do so. If there was something she wished to say then he would let her do so when she was good and ready. "It was easier for me to adapt because the rogues life was not for me, I am sure some of these cubs will adapt quickly and others will struggle. A lot of it is based upon past experiences, their personality and what they wish of themselves."

While Raziela remained silent - perhaps contemplating where to look next Maua turned her attention to the surrounding area, it was a rather nicely shaded little clearing, she imagined that the log in the middle would have made for anice playground when she was younger...or even for her own cub when they had been little.

Of course Maua had never let her cubs play in the forest, never mind that she had often snuck away with Kivuli when she was young to do that very thing. Perhaps she had been a bit hard on her children...though for the most part they had turned out just fine, Nyota and Pur's recent mishaps none withstanding.

While Raziela continued pondering Maua prowled about the edge of the clearing, peering into the dark foliage...just in case.

A fond smile crossed Kivuli's lips as he stepped into the main area the groundlings called home. He could remember coming to find Nyota here so often when she was a cub, the way she got along with them so well, she really did seem more at home here than with the nobles. It was a sad thought too, for he knew his daughter was missing out on so much now that she had left, perhaps if Maua had not been so hard on her she would have chosen to stay. He would have let her live the life of a lesser class if it meant still having her around. But it was too late now and all he could do continue on.

He nodded to a few of the groundlings that he recognized as he walked along. Stopping to talk to a pair whom had spent many hours teaching Nyota about their history. "Have you seen any cubs around here?" The pair shook their head but promised to call for them if they found any. Thanking them for their time Kivuli continued on.

It was welcoming here, perhaps not to the nobles, but those of lower classes could feel at home here. That is why he had come here to look for any remaining cubs, the openness of the groundlings might appeal to the cubs and they may very well be amongst the forest-dwelling lions.

Mot'e nodded, they were a pretty good team, even if they would split up for a time. She trusted that Melda would keep an eye out for cubs as she went along just as she wouldn't hesitate to catch a hare if she came across one. The lioness had been wandering around for the better part of the day, and while she wasn't physically tired, it was getting to be like a game of hide-and-go-seek she just didn't think she could win.

She smiled at the female, and was almost about to head off when she stopped. "Oh, I'm Mot'e. I'm a groundling. I may have seen you around, but I don't think we've met." She nodded again and trotted off to the deepest, darkest, thickest part of the jungle, a look of grit and determination on her face!

Cubs were so rambunctious. This one would fit in just fine with the Players when Subira got him back to the pride. He had more than enough energy to keep up with the older lions. Hamu would keep an eye on him when he wasn't working.

"Wait up, Kayode!" He called after the cub, stepping on a fern to move it out of Subira's way and using his mouth to pull another plant out of her path so she could follow the cub.

"He c'n fit wur we c'n't," he mumbled around the branch in his mouth. Should he be able to smile with his mouth full of plant? Well, somehow, he was managing it. "Affer oo."

He let Subira pass and then carefully moved around the branch in his mouth and then released it slowly. He didn't want any backlash. Hamu turned and followed Subira, hoping she was keeping an eye on Kayode; Hamu had pretty much lost sight of him again.

I hope that isn't an indication of the father I may be someday, he thought facetiously.

Subira smiled at Fahamu when he was polite. It seemed that his mother had raised him to have manners and she appreciated it. The little cub talked a mile a minute and she admired his happy nature. He was so hungry and she wanted to take care of him completely. When she saw a bush with berries she tore a limb off and chased after him.

Kayode wasn't paying much attention to the adults now that he had a mission and relative safety. He hoped that he could help find more of the friends he'd made to bring them to safety. With a big grin on his face, he looked over his shoulder to urge on his new family. "C'mon! Keep going!"

User ImageJioni'Nyota had been chosen as Auberon for a reason. The forest was his home and his domain. He felt comfortable here and was the unofficial leader of the groundlings. It wasn't a position he would have chosen, but he took the responsibility and found pleasure in it. He watched over the groundlings and he hoped that he helped to provide them with a measure of safety and security.

His normal routine was shattered by the presence of others in the forest. It practically hummed and vibrated with energy. Something had happened.

Following his nose and the sound of voices, he found a gathering of pride members and the King. He edged into the group to listen as the King spoke. His words shocked him.

There were cubs lost in the Forest? Now that simply wouldn't do. Jioni had no family and certainly wasn't a father, but he had some paternal feelings in him and he did like to watch over others. The thought of small, helpless youngsters alone in the forest made him angry. He quickly set off on his own to join the search, heading to some areas he knew wouldn't be reached quickly.

There were caves, dead trees, so many places to hide. He decided to head to a small marshy area of the forest, knowing that the area could be treacherous if visitors weren't careful.
