Riku let her take him. He sprinted to keep the same speed with Langkston. "No." he replied. "I won't. You don't know what it's like to be us. It's too much." he said vaguely. Finally, they came to the group of demons and Riku slowed his pace.

Leighton screamed in pain as he held his head. If he didn't hold it, he felt like his skull would explode. That wouldn't look very good on Kyree's outfit. Kyree was crying hysterically, knowing he was dieing. At this point, nothing could heal him. "I love you." she said quietly. Leighton heard her, but it was too hard to speak. His head was throbbing insanely. His eyes filled red, never before have his eyes been like this before.

Riku didn't even flinch, but he was shocked she hit him. "I don't know how! Leighton does!" he pointed at him. "But he's in no condition to do that. I can't put him through that!" he added with a raised voice. "You can help us. You're the key, don't you understand? You're the Lord's daughter!" his eyes started to become red. That's the thing about demons, they get angry too easily.

Leighton continued pushing at his head with his palms. He had a series of spazzums and seizures. Suddenly, Leighton lay flat on his back and his arms fell to the sides. Leighton's eyes were open, but weren't blinking. His chest wasn't moving up and down. No sign of life. The demon ran to him and felt for a pulse. He solemnly nodded to Kyree. Kyree fell to the floor in shock and sobs. The doctor walked over to Riku with his head low.
"He's gone. We can't do anything about it. Not even powers will work." he sighed breathily as he put a hand on Riku's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Riku." then he walked away and into the crowd of working demons. Most of the demons stopped by Leighton and stared and payed respects to Kyree. But then two demons carried Kyree to a made up tent for her to calm down.
Riku stood still, staring at nothing in particular. He felt a single tear come from his left eye. "I'm sorry, Langkston." Riku said with out looking at her. He then walked away towards where a small group of demon men were making weapons with their powers.

Kyree felt herself reach the ground on a soft woven blanket. She buried her face in the cloth and sobbed. Her throat burned from how hard she was crying. She was completely heart broken. Despite the loud noise of the invasion, she cried herself to sleep.

Riku was burning metal. He had no idea what he was doing, his mind was else where. Some one came up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. It was a man from council he never really got the name of. "I'm sorry about Leighton, Riku." he said solemnly. "How about you take a break? The doctor wants to talk to you any way." Riku nodded and tossed the metal he was working with to his pile. He walked to the doctor, trying to keep his head high. As he came up, the doctor dropped his things and walked over to Riku.
"I know why Leighton died," the doctor began. "When the bombs landed and exploded, it let off an obnoxious fume that affects only demons." he explained and his hands moved as he talked. "The fumes immediately flow into the blood stream, go into all organs, targeting the brain and heart as the main points, and kill all cells. Then it spreads through out the hole body and eats it away." he pauses in thought. "It's like the bomb gave Leighton a large quantity of extremely toxic viruses."
Riku shook his head slowly and rubbed his throbbing temples. "Then how is his body not disintegrated?" he asked.
The doctor shrugged pathetically. "It only targets the inside of his body. First the organs, jugular, then the vessels and whole blood stream." he sighs. "I learned this from a visit to the Golden Gates, when we were at peace with them. I can't think of the name of it, but I remember all it's functions. I'm sorry, Riku." he frowns and walks away, leaving Riku in thought.
Riku stares for a while at Leighton's corpse, until two demons cover his body with a tarp. His expression goes blank as he sits on an abandoned log with his face buried in his rough hands.

Riku shook his head and shrugged her off. He wiped a tear from his cheek as he stood and walked away, heading back towards the weaponry. "That will be my job." he said to her, still walking, with out looking at her. His fists clenched, trying to hold in his rage. He put out his rage into his fire as he burned the metal.

Kyree startled upright from her slumber. She clutched her chest and closed her eyes, trying to remember the vision she had seen more vividly. Suddenly she was out side the tent, flailing her arms and yelling at the demons, trying to get their attention. "The war! The war!" she yelled over and over. She ran up to Langkston and squeezed her soldiers. "The angels! The angels!" she breathed heavily. "They want the battle to be tomorrow! It will end tomorrow! It will end! We must fight! We have to!" Kyree gasped for air, trying to see if there was more of the vision. "The Lord of the Golden Gates sent me a vision like he would when he needed me to do something back at the Golden Gates." her eyes widened. "He knows I'm a demon. He always did." She loosened her grip on Langkston.

Kyree ran from Langkston to go tell more demons. Instantly all the demons were running all around. They were working harder and faster; making armor and weaponry. A small group of demons came back from the city's ashes, able to recover some sturdy weapons, armor, and a bit of food.
Riku looked up to the Lord, who was observing his people. The Lord looked down at Langkston and Riku. "We fight." he turned back to the demons. The Lord was so tall he could see all of them, standing at eleven feet tall. "My people! We will fight! And we will win!" he threw his arm up in a fist and the demons cheered. "We must get to work! Make more weapons and armor!" The demons hooted and went back to work. Riku felt adrenalin rush through his veins.
He turned to Langkston. "There you have it. Help us make weapons, unless you're better with armor."
The Lord walked to the two, staring with lowered eyebrows at Langkston. "How can I trust you, white wing?"
Riku looked at Langkston with widened eyes as he worked on a sword.

The Lord loosened his grip on his black staff with a red snake design on it. He smacked his lips slowly. "I see." he glanced at Riku then back to her. "Don't betray us." Suddenly the snake on the staff came alive and curled itself around the Lord's neck loosely. It stared at Langkston with its black eyes. Then the Lord walked away, staff first.

Riku smirked at Langkston. "Nice speech." his dark eyes seemed to dance as he looked at her. He handed her a dull sword. "This can be yours. All you need to do is sharpen it. Then give it to Kyree. She'll make it look pretty." he winked at Langkston.

Riku pondered on how to change Langkston. He wanted to change her but at the same time didn't. Did she know about the miseries and sorrows of being a demon? It came with a lot of hard ships, but maybe being an angel did, too. And this is what she really wanted. He shook the thoughts away. No time for this now.

Kyree was sitting in her tent with a pile of weapons next to her. She was decorating them with designs of the demon's legends of war and showing in the designs how powerful the demons truly are. Her mind was set on Leighton. When she came to her own weapon, a black bow, she engraved an image of Leighton perfectly.
