I think it would do well for me to stay here, where I used to, and try to bring things back the way they used to be. I'll hang around here for a bit, clean up a little too, get rid of the dust and air the space out.

She slips her hands into her pockets and sighs softly.

I'll empty my things out of the other room and make sure it is clean and ready for a new customer, and then return the key to you. Is that okay?

She looks down at the floor as you mention the rugs and nods.

Of course I'll respect your rules, still. I'm more comfortable barefoot most of the time anyway. And of course I'll make sure my ferret knows to come here. I'd hate for someone to be surprised to find an animal in bed with them in the middle of the night.

(( Okay so clearly I have been failing on here! I am sorry about that! Life has been just insane as any of you guys who follow me on Facebook or my million and a half blog type things. LOL I have a Google + too.... LOL))

Kris nods understandingly and smiles again. He was glad to see that D was feeling more comfortable despite the chaos that had ensued a very short time before.

Yeah, that's just fine with me, D. Just take your time. Goodness knows we don't have enough customers to worry about our rooms selling out. Heh... I don't think that's ever happened in the whole time this place has been in business... that's okay though.

Kris couldn't help but look over D with an air of somberness. He was sure that the poor girl had been through hell more than once. It seemed so wrong to him for people with so much goodness to face so much bad. He could feel an odd sense of injustice fill his heart but he knew that the best thing he could do was offer her a place to rebuild.

Oh, and I didn't mean to obsess over such little things as the rugs. I want you to be comfortable but it just happens to work out that you prefer to not wear shoes anyway. If the rugs get worn... big deal... heh... all rugs do.

He turns and prepares to leave the room and then lingers a moment. Turning his face back to you with a small smile.

Glad to have you here... if this little place helps you get back something you lost... I am thankful. I will... be in the lobby if you need me. Goodbye for now.

He then nods and steps out of the room, wanders down the hallways and turns back out into the lobby. He is quite surprised and even slightly embarrassed that a customer has arrived and he was not there to greet them.

((ooc: lets see if I can manage formatting))

Armion struts through the front door and pauses to look around. Seemingly satisfied he nods his head and heads directly for the bar. Upon arrivel he takes a stool and begins to spin slowly as he waits to be acknowledged by the staff.

(( Wow! Hey Armion! Long time no see! I hope you are doing well. This place is still alive! We just post as time allows... most of us had to do this silly adult thing called "prioritize" 'but I wanted us to have this as a place to have fun! This will be the most 'low pressure' DarkSeas you have ever seen! We would be excited to have you. Oh! And great job on the formatting! ))

Kris steps out into the light and quickly approaches the man at the bar. He has yet to see Bertie at the stairwell. He smiles broadly as he greets the man with his normal enthusiasm.

Hello there! I am terribly sorry I didn't greet you, I hope you haven't been waiting long! Welcome to the DarkSeas Inn and Tavern. What can I do for you?

Bertie

((I've been gone long enough, now seems like a good time reemerge.))

After soaking in the tub for far too long, Bertie stepped out of the water and wrapped a soft, warm towel around her wet skin. As she secured the towel, she sighed and wondered what she should do next. She had been inside the water for so long that it had turned cold and now it caused her to shiver slightly. That drove her to get dressed quickly. She put on what looked like essentially the same clothes as before, but not exactly. What she was wearing before was pretty dirty, so she would need to wash most of it before wearing it again. So, she slipped on a clean pair of black pants that hugged her body, a silk pearl shirt with a shimmery quality, and a brown vest that appeared identical to the one she had worn earlier except it was clean. Satisfied enough, she began to dry her hair with the towel. Standing before the mirror, her hair stil somewhat damp and sticking to her face, she brushed the long curls to tame them somewhat. Not lingering for long, she moved to wrap the same golden scarf around her hair, and her ears, once again, tucking her curls inside. She planned to go downstairs.

Moving out of the bathroom area, Bertie took a moment to look around the room again. It seemed suitable enough, at least it would be a comfortable temperature. Bringing a pair of boots with her, but not putting them on just yet, she exited her room, making sure the door was locked behind her. She was relieved not to see anyone in the hall. She wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone new, but she also didn't want to stay in her room. She knew she would be more comfortable in the bigger, more open area. When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she stopped for a moment and slipped on her shoes and started to head towards a place to take a seat. Unfortunately, she saw that she wasn't alone. Perhaps if she wasn't spoken to she could slip outside unnoticed.

(( Hi Hi LNS! ))

As he nods and waits for the man's response, he notices Bertie out of the corner of his eye.He smiles winningly to her and waves his hand to show he's noticed her. He then returns his attention to the man at the bar.

As Bertie was preparing to make a dash for the door, she noticed the owner appear in the room. Somewhat discouraged, she wondered if it would still be appropriate to head directly outside. Would it seem like odd behavior? Sighing ever so softly to herself, she dug up the courage and energy to be a polite, respectable person. After all, the man had gone to the trouble of offering her such a big, sincere smile.

Noticing that Kris seemed to be focused on the newcomer, Bertie figured that she wouldn't have to stick around long before she could manage finding her own entertainment. So, for now, she brought herself over to the bar and sat three seats away from the stranger--to her that seemed like just enough space to discourage any unnecessary interaction, but not too far away to seem rude. As she took a seat, she spoke up in her usual wispy tone.

Hello again.

She would have said more, but she really couldn't think of anything beyond that.

Kris is happy to see multiple customers at the same place at the same time in the Darkseas. It was becoming so large that sometimes it was easy to feel like there was only one other person. Perhaps the size was part of the place's problems. Either way, Kris' face warmed as he saw Bertie approach. She could tell that he would have said more to her but was waiting on the new customer first.

(( Now we wait for Armion. smile ))

Armion turns his attention to Kristoph with an intense look.

You are not Aykon! Hmm no matter.

Armion extends a hand and smile brightly!

I am Armion Tarnidas, planeswalker, retired. Pleasure too meet you.

Bertie silently took in the conversation that was beginning, but she did nothing to join. It was quite a relief when Kris did nothing to start a conversation with her. She was rather exhausted from the socializing she had done earlier today, so she was not in the mood to work at seeming normal right now. She did, however, take a moment to look closely at the stranger who started to speak. He appeared to have been looking for someone else, but he was apparently friendly as well. Other than that, she could not get much from information from just looking at him. His introduction to Kris did not offer her much either, as she was not sure what a retired planeswalker was exactly. Losing interest, Bertie turned away and found herself looking around the rest of the room for something to entertain her for the moment. Perhaps she would slip outside after all.

((AHH! People! HiHi!))

After watching you exit the room, D stands for a few minutes longer before she bends down and removes her shoes. She carries them with her as she quietly heads down the hallway and into the main room where the bar is. She glances at the people, but does not stop as she quickly goes upstairs and into her room. Perhaps they wouldn't think of her as being rude if she didn't interrupt the conversation where she collects everything that is hers, packs her bag, and cleans the entire room. After cleaning, she changes out of her dress and puts on clean clothes. She picks up her bag, and after a final glance around the room, and notices Gig has come in through the window. She closes the window, picks up her ferret and gently strokes her fur.

We have a new room now, so no more going into that one. I don't want you to scare anyone, okay?

At first, Kris seems a bit crestfallen from this strange demeanor. He was partially dreading having to explain the little things he knew about the former owner's life. He internally sighed with relief when the hand is extended, his face brightens with a smile and responds to the handshake in kind.

Ah... hello there Armion... uh... not sure what your title implies but I digress. Kris Reed, Nanobiologist, Retired, and current owner of this fine and historical establishment. Nice to meet you as well.

Armion could tell by the man's speech and mannerisms that he was a well read and well practiced academic. Yet his socialization skills were much higher than this other fact would imply.

You are correct, I am not Aykon. If you want to know anything about him, I can't really help as I know little myself. I know who he USED to be when I visited this place in my boyhood. However, when I purchased the place, Aykon was not even involved. It was some chap named Benjamin... very shy guy. Welcome any how. Can I offer you a drink?

Bertie

Losing interest, Bertie turned away and found herself looking around the rest of the room for something to entertain her for the moment. Perhaps she would slip outside after all.

Kris noticed Bertie's actions and his mind was able to rewind temporarily to the discussion the two had shared a few hours ago. He knew that Bertie was not much for conversation or interacting with anyone for that matter. He still enjoyed speaking to her but he could tell she was uncomfortable. That being said, he offered a nod to her almost as if to assure her that he wasn't going to pursue conversation with her unless she chose.

D

After watching you exit the room, D stands for a few minutes longer before she bends down and removes her shoes. No sooner than Kris had been able to nod to Bertie than he saw D heading upstairs. He could tell she was mission focused so he didn't want to bother her. Instead, he turned his eyes back to Armion.

Nanobiology? Sounds fascinating, do you work in theory or application?

(( Fear not friend, I am the father of three children now, two of which are less than a year old. I assure you, I understand busy weekends! smile ))

Kris is almost dumbstruck at hearing Armion's response, he had fully prepared his spring-loaded speech to define what his particular area of engineering was as he had to do so every time until now. He was overjoyed that this man actually understood the science.

A grin peeked across Kris's face as he was half tempted to summon Harmony or Symphony to his aide but he also knew that some of the folks here might not quite understand that yet. Instead, he took a more minimalistic manner of response. Even still, the potently academic manner in which he spoke could not be avoided in such a circumstance. Armion might almost feel as though he was in a classroom by the manner of which Kris replied.

Well obviously all science starts as simply theory but I have, in my time, managed to cross from theory into application...inception even. Perhaps I will show you more of what I mean sometime. Let's just say this, if you are a man who is well traveled as your countenance seems to indicate, you might be familiar of a place called Earth, it is from here that I came. While on Earth, I attended a school that was revered for its scientific labs and launched virtually every technological advance in the history of the USA. I was a Nobel laureate and post-graduate researcher for a school in Massachusetts called the Massachusetts Institute for Technology...or simply MIT... ever heard of it?

Admittedly Kris was doing this very statement for a bit of selfish pride. It seems that people from all over the realm of Gaia had quite a solid idea of Earth and its places. Few people who had been to Earth had not heard of MIT.

Bertie is a bit surprised to hear how enthusiastically Kris begins to talk about..whatever it was that he was talking about...but she quickly found that she was rather bored with listening to this conversation. Finding that it wasn't worth being polite anymore, she pushed herself away from the bar and stood up as Kris finished speaking. She considered simply going out without saying a word, but decided it would be better to at least say a few words. She wasn't planning on being outside for too long, and if the two were still around when she returned, she didn't want to have to explain where she had been or why she had left so suddenly. In an obviously less than courageous voice, she spoke up as well as she could.

Excuse me, I am going out for a moment.

Feeling awkward about what she had said, and the way she had said it, she allowed no time for a response and simply glanced at the two before making her way out. With light steps, Bertie went straight for the door, opened it, slipped outside, and closed it before letting out a deep sigh. Taking a few deep breaths, she looked around to see where she might go.

Kris watches as Bertie makes her way out of the building. Normally he would speak to her in some sort of parting word but he could tell that she was more interested in just getting a break. Who was he to complain? Instead he just turned his attention back to Armion, curious as to what his response might be.

((My last post was a little wonky. sad I'm sorry!))

With one final glance, she looks around the room to ensure everything is in order and nothing of hers remains there. Once satisfied, she leaves the room and locks the door behind her. Rather than slip the key into her pocket as she normally would, she carries it in her hand with the intention of returning it to Kris once she arrives back on the main floor. Gig slips out of D's grasp and wriggles into her bag, presumably to curl up and take a nap after her time spent outdoors.

Once D has reached the bottom of the stairs, she chooses to remain shoeless, and walks across to where the others are. She remains quiet, listening to the conversation, rather than joining in. Before long she realizes she couldn't join the conversation had she wanted to as she is quite lost as to what the two are talking about.
