6th year Slytherin Gregory hurried back to his desk, coughing tersely and trying to act natural. Glancing up to the board he noticed the task that had been set for him: Practice the Aguamenti charm. Seemed simple enough.
Stretching behind him to claim a glass goblet from the shelf, he cleared his desk and set the goblet down upon it, cracking his fingers and extending his wand. Closing his eyes, he let his wand fall limp in his hand; appreciating the weight of it, feeling every knarl and knot in the unvarnished ash-wood with his callused fingertips; re-imagining it as an extension of his arm. He breathed in slowly and held it.
"Aguamenti," he breathed, flicking his wand forward delicately. At once the goblet filled to the top with crystal-clear water. Taken aback by his own success Gregory kicked the table in surprise, having to reach forward at light-speed to stop the goblet tumbling. Brushing the spilled water from his desk with a strange little smile he took a gulp from the goblet.
"Pfffff!" The water was sent spraying over the desk and floor within seconds. Somehow, he'd managed to summon not water, but brine. Back to the drawing board.

Kate smiled. "Now you try Harmony." She looked over at Gregory and laughed. "Keep trying."

Harmony Trumarie...
Harmony smelled salt, and looked around confused. She heard Professor Farmer say something to her, and Harmony turned and payed attention.
"My turn is it" Harmony pulled out her wand, pointed it at Professor Farmer and mumured "Laeto Leto."

6th year Slytherin Another sip of water was spat discreetly into Gregory's scarf. More salt water; they had gotten progressively less saline, for sure, but they were all still far from drinkable.
Sighing and clearing his mind of all thoughts, Gregory tried to focus on the clearest memory he had of water. All of a sudden memories of a trip through the New Forest flooded his mind; he was no more than ten, and his father's now-grey hair still retained the merest suggestions of blonde. They had walked for miles through the trees before coming to the edge of a great lake; stretching out further than anything Gregory had ever seen before, he had been unable to stop himself from pulling off his shoes and socks and wading out up to his waist.
It was so clear and cool, a world away from the blistering sun that stung his face. He bent to splash the water over his head, cupping his hand and bringing it to his lips to drink. It was the most perfect, the most clear, the most refreshing water he'd ever tasted.
"Aguamenti," Gregory barked confidently, flicking his wand and watching his goblet fill to the top once more. Taking it and sipping from it slowly, he sighed in wonder; it was just as good as he remembered the water from the lake in the New Forest being.

Meiko runs in and said to the professor panting. "Professor, I'm sorry about being late... but might I know what the lesson is for today?"

Cloud reached into her pocket, and felt her pet salamander crawl into her hand. She lifted him out, and allowed him to run around on her desk, watching him in boredom.

Kate felt happy and smiled. "Good job Harmony. That was really great. And Meiko, I'll have the new assignment up tomorrow morning. And Gregory, great job!"

Ravenclaw, 3rd Year
Nam jogged to the door but stopped abruptly just outside it. He took in a deep breath and patted his hair and sleeves, composing himself before stepping inside. "Professor Farmer. I'm Nam Polpil. My apologies for being so late." He noted Harmony seemed to be the only other third year in the room and was practicing the cheering charm with the professor. He knew he ought to suggest that he take the teacher's place as Harmony's practicing partner, but his serious inability for most spell work held his tongue. Instead he blandly offered, "I'm a third year," and prayed he wouldn't be called upon.
(( I know you said to send info in a PM in your class terms, but class seemed slow enough that you'd catch my first post any way. ))

For those who completed your assignments, great job! Now for this week's assignment:
First year: Practice the Levitation Spell. The incantation is Wingardium Leviosa
Second year: Find a partner and practice Cushioning Charms. The incantation is Spongify.
Third year: Give examples of where you can use Cheering Charms outside of class.
Fourth year: Practice Summoning Charms. The incantation is Accio.
Fifth year: Practice Silencing Charms on frogs and ravens provided.
Sixth year: Practice Avis.
Seventh year: Help Daemon with his charm. Once you have something that you think might work, show me.
All classwork for this week is worth 45 points. Seventh years, your assignment is worth 50 points.
If you haven't completed the previous assignment (found on page 6), please complete that before doing this. Since it is now considered late, it is worth 25 points.
