Montiqueue Wantcookie Montiqueue Wantcookie Okay, I saw the notice and was like "I haven't posted in there in the longest time. What the hell did I say that's still worth quoting?" And then there was that. xd Thanks, Monti, it's amazing. xd You're welcome~ 3nodding I'm sorry if it's not the greatest thing ever but, you know~ I did my best. First nud-ish male I've done in a long while and I have to say... ]http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lltzgnHi5F1qzib3wo1_400.jpg] Honest opinion: It's a hell of a lot better than some of the other things I've seen. xd It isn't a Michealangelo, but it wasn't meant to be. For what it is, it's pretty damn good. my only wish is that the camera could've seen the darker shades and obvious white spots I put to make your skin shiny. alas, It will not. Also, about the cinnamon stick in your mouth. xD I know it would've been more accurate to put it in your mouth but I talked it over with Deca, and we both decided that keeping your favorite smile there was more important. :b Camera's gonna do what the camera's gonna do. xd Haha, sometimes I forget about the cinnamon stick because it's so hard to see against the skin. If it could do the same smoke effect that the peppermint stick does, I'd be happy, but the one it has gets in the way of everything. xd

O: I had to check what you were wearing to make sure I knew what it was. xD And yeah, it would be nice if the cinnamon dust wasn't all up in your face. Because, really, it's a nice cloud that they made. If only they had put it somewhere else though. Anyways, enjoy~ :3

Absolutely lovely~ Even though it doesn't match the sainte ciel hair all that well, it still looks nice, I think.

And suddenly every water cooler that I have/will ever used has Cookie's troll face on it. No, It's cool. I didn't plan on getting hydrated in the future anyway.

So I'm taking a new approach to shading recently and while I'm not 100% satisfied with the results yet, I'm enjoying how much easier it is to get it to where I want it. Previously I'd been using exclusively Dodge/Burn and that drove me nuts because if I ******** up I had to undo the whole thing. Now I'm using the Airbrush and Smudge tools and I'm finding it to be a lot less of a pain in the a**.
Dodge/Burn is considerably more forgiving of touching the lineart, though. I guess the next step is figuring out how to layer s**t.

EDIT: k done
Drawing with my tablet is still kind of awkward. I oversize the canvas so I have a lot of room to zoom in and work on small areas, but it leads to a lot of squiggly lines because I go too slowly and it's a little too sensitive to the jitters of my hand. I guess that's something experience will fix, unless somebody with a tablet has any workarounds.

If you don't get accurate lines when going fast, you might try looking in the tablet options. There's something in there that trims the tablet so that its size ratio fits your screen. On my bamboo it's under Pen > Mapping > Force Proportion. Also, I've heard of people taping a layer of paper over their tablet; the friction reduces the jitterfaps.

oops i accidentally a stock photo
I think I'm going to stick to this religiously until I get a better grasp on anatomy.
I think one of the biggest things I dislike about digital coloring is that my lines feel comical while the way I shade feels like it wants to be more realistic. The difference between the styles is most noticeable in the hair, I find. It feels all wrong. :/
Maybe I'll experiment with lineless work, or try out some more simplified shading methods.
