A bit late, but....
Amaranth: No. He'll use his abilities to find the best possible escape route and run like the wind. The only possible way he'd fight is if there was absolutely no way for him to make an escape and evade his foe.

That seems about right for a dreamwalking child. 10's average grown-up str. 8 is about child endurance, 13 is above-average agility and 17 is pretty-darn-magical.
