Amelia Frances
 With tentative footsteps, Amelia entered the large dueling room. There was a stage of sorts, where she assumed the duel would take place. Surrounding it was a large space, supposively for spectators. She wondered idly how often it was used. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out her list of spells and their pronunciations, and began to read them under her breath. She'd memorized the list, and felt fairly confident after her success with Mario in Transfiguration. Still, she didn't want to try these spells on idle housemates, so she hadn't yet practiced them. It would be obvious from her first try, but hopefully she'd catch on quickly.

Kenneth entered the Dueling room his cloak billowing behind him, he took notice that Amelia had already arrived to practice the back log of spells that he had assigned the first years. He pulled off his cloak and tossed it over the back of a nearby chair and addressed Amelia "Good evening Amelia I see you beat me here." he reached down and drew his wand from the dragon skin holster he had acquired, while in Diagon Alley a short time ago. "If your ready we can begin. Did you happened to have a particular order in which you wished to try these spells out?" he asked starting down at her.

Amelia looked up at the sound of the cloak moving. She wondered if he magically had it do that, for she knew hers just seemed to be stepped on by other students in the hall. Perhaps she just didn't give off a billowing aura. She turned to him, a small smile on her face, "Good evening professor," she greeted, setting the paper on the stage for reference, and drawing her wand. It still was an awkward movement, showing how new she truly was. "Yes, History ended early," or more correctly, didn't start, for she hadn't realized the class was on a hiatus. Pausing a moment, she considered his question before answering, "I suppose if I must learn them in a specific order, you would have chosen it, so chronologically is fine with me." without double checking her paper, she added in the spell,"Expelliarmus. The disarming charm...spell...what's the difference between spells and charms?"She had a bad tendency to ask whatever question came to mind. Though this had greatly increased her knowledge, sometimes it wasn't appropriate. Or, as she greatly feared, being ten years old, she looked ignorant for not knowing. Her blush was from the latter possibility.

"Chronologically is fine then, as for the difference between spell and charm. Well spell is a more generalized term for magic, where as a Charm is more specific." Kenneth then went into a more detailed lecture on charms. "A charm is a type of enchantment that causes an object to behave in a way that is not otherwise normal for that object. A "charm" is a rather arbitrary designation for spells that are not classified as Transfiguration (spells that change the inherent nature of an object). For example, the Colour Change Charm causes something to flash different colours; the Levitation or Hover Charm causes an object to levitate; the Cheering Charm improves upon a creature's mood. An object that has a lasting charm placed on it is called bewitched."
Kenneth paused for a moment to let this new information sink into Amelia's mind, before he continued.
"A Charm might cause something to flash different colours. It might cause an object to levitate or even fly through the air. Charms can make a person laugh or dance or even create a bubble of breathable air around a person's head. In all of these cases, the object or the person doesn't really change, they just do something unexpected. Some Charms can be extremely powerful. The Fidelius Charm, for example, can completely hide a person or a place in such a way that no one can find them unless they are given the location by a Secret Keeper. Memory Charms can be so strong that they completely remove a person's memory or even damage his or her mind permanently."
"In the case of the disarming charm, the normal activity for a wand is to remain in the hand of the wielder, the spell or charm in this case cause's the wand to shoot out of the wielder's hand and fly toward the person who cast the spell."

Amelia had to admit, she was astounded by how much she was going to learn. And how little she knew. She was grateful that his response wasn't condescending, but merely instructional. She listened gratefully, trying to keep the list of charms straight in her head. Cheering charms stood out, and she couldn't help asking, "Do you know what year I'll be learning cheering charms?" She readied her wand, and in a graceful movement, hopped up onto the stage, so that she was sitting on the edge of it. She didn't want him to see her curiosity as delaying. In actuality she'd prefer sooner to make a fool of herself, than later. After that she could begin truly learning them. This lesson would greatly increase her spells list, as currently it held one and a possibility of another.

 Harmony V. Trumarie...
As she walked into the room, Harmony gripped the strap of her school bag tightly. The Slytherin came into the room on a whim, she hadn't expected anyone to be in the room. Grey eyes scanned the room's residents, lingering on the unfamilar Ravenclaw girl.
Harmony sauntered over to Lily's direction, as she walked the weight of her books focused on her left shoulder. She couldn't help but to feel that her bag was trying to kill her. The Slytherin took a seat next to Lily, nodding to her in polite gesture. Harmony coughed, and then decided to make some conversation with the Gryffindor. "The girl looks young, perhaps a 1st or 2nd Year?"

Amelia squeezed her eyes shut, trying not to wince. As if she hadn't been under enough pressure to succeed in front of the teacher, now she had an audience. Sighing heavily, with her pride too high to complain, she stood on the stage. She felt exposed up there, especially with him still beside it. Wrapping her arms about her unconsciously, she turned to look at the other two girls, with a wave she replied, "Yeah, today's my first day. You're allowed to laugh. Just try to direct it near me, not exactly at me." This time her grin was real; she was used to being the center of attention when she wanted to. Perhaps she could adapt this into a time she wanted to. Perhaps, but what if Professor Reynolds frowned upon that. Well, then he had a stick up somewhere far too deep. "Do you guys wanna help? So Professor Reynolds won't be the only one dancing?" She couldn't see the teacher preferring to be cursed in front of other students. He probably had some macho reputation to keep up. She still planned on cursing him, just to see if personality affected how well your legs danced when cursed with Tarantallegra.

"Let me think...cheering charm...I believe you will learn that in 3rd year Charms class." Kenneth said after digging though his memories of the past. Just as he finsihed answering Amelia, he heard a pair of voices behind him. Turning around he discovered that both Harmony and Lily had entered the room. "Ladies no one is dueling today, Amelia is just here to make up past assignments." Kenneth return his attention to Amelia and said "Alight when ever your ready, hit me with your best attempt."

Truly, the young girl would prefer her attempts to be without an audience, so she didn't comment on the Professor sending the girl's away. She would have preferred actually waiting for them to leave, but that didn't appear to be an option. Therefore Amelia nodded, closed her eyes for a moment to center herself then lifted her wand, in a clear voice she recited, "Expelliarmus" though putting a small accent on the 'ar' she didn't emphasize it quite so much. She still was letting a lot of her focus stay on the two girls in the room, wondering if they'd linger.
EDIT: With her concentration split, the spell failed. She knew instantaneously, as she didn't feel it grow within the wand. Sighing in frustration she looked up at Professor Reynolds, asking, "What's the wand movements? The book only provided the pronunciation. She knew she botched that a little as well, but focus on the major problem. She could fix the accent./EDIT

[[ When it comes to casting spell's you can decided whether or not you cast them right, but when it comes to them actually hitting me I'll the affects they have so your no "auto-hitting." I hope that made sense. I'll post a reply to you later, I'm in class at the moment, just took a quick break to check on Gaia. ]]

Kenneth watched intently as Amelia prepared to cast her first spell at him, he sensed a little uneasiness coming from her, as if she wasn't sure if she could pull the spell off. Maybe it was because Lily and Harmony where also in the room and Amelia felt a little self conscious with her abilities. He heard her speak the incantation for the disarming charm, however instead of his wand flying out of his wand, nothing happened. He heard her sigh then ask about the wand movement required for the spell. "There is no specific movement, such as a flick or swish, just point your wand at your target and say the incantation. You do however need to be focusing on the spell at hand. Yes in the real world there will be other things in the way, other wizards, creatures, Muggles, you just need to look past them and concentrate at the task at hand. Let's try this again, this time focus just on me and the spell you need to cast." he said giving her an encouraging simile and bring his wand up and into the ready position.
[[ Na, not going to get into trouble. After all I'm paying these teachers to teach me after all. Only thing I could get in trouble for would be cheating or disrupting the class. Plus I sit at the back of the room with my laptop. ]]
