✿xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx✿ xxx x The man had finished his text as Tatum came up to the desk, his attention going to her as indicated by Kade snapping the phone shut with a friendly smile. Always had to keep up the happy appearance with a customer no matter what! It was his main job nowadays, after all, so he had to make sure he did at least that right. While he waited on Haruka to come in, he just had to keep Tatum happy and unaware of the wait that she was going to have to take, even on a slow day like this. He was already aware of her owning the fashion store – someone's job was the basics of what made that person who they were! Or, well, at least that's how it worked for Kade. It was why he figured he did well with talking to artists like Ellie and Blaire, while the police were kind of hard to get along with. A fashion designer, though, should be a piece of cake!
“Here? Well, there aren't very many people to begin with, so.. There aren't many who are really fashion aware.” Though he really wished there were. Think of how much better for business it would be! He leaned onto the desk too as he went on, “But, the mayor is totally rich and obsessed with that kind of thing – so is his brother and sister and.. I think his whole family! Without the Sonatas, I don't think I'd still be in business.” He giggled at the truth in that – who else would come in almost every other day for some overpriced full-body makeover? He figured clothing would probably be the same way, considering how he hardly ever saw any of them wear the same outfit twice..
“But, they're so.. um.. eccentric? It's kind of annoying.. Then there's Kotone Tamaki, a single mom; she's pretty into fashion from what I heard.. Dante and Vladimir Tepes who run the general store aren't crazy about it, but they both like to keep up with it. Oh, but Dante especially – man just can't get enough of his dresses!” Another small laugh and he held a hand to his chin as he thought some more on it. Who else..? Oh! “If you know anything about anyone, this is gonna come as a shock – but the school principal, Judith Cummingham, who is such a b***h, but I don't think I've ever seen her wearing anything but the latest fashions! But, well, latest business fashions, nothing really pretty.. Still, it's just a guess, but I think she could be into it too. Ah, and her daughter, Alanis, but Alanis sews her own things from what I heard.. ..Ah,” He stopped once again and laughed, “I'm sorry, sweetie – I've just been going on and on.” Ah, yes, Kade and his rambles were back! Well, couldn't blame him; Tatum did ask who was into what and that had to get him started.✿xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx✿

There weren't that many people here? What?! I thought this place was my call from heaven? Whose idea was it to move here then?! Oh no . . . Wait. Hold the phone. He said that the mayor on the island was totally into the fashion scene and rolling in money. Tatum was happy again. If the mayor was on board, she was too. Now to get his attention. Or her. . Even better, the whole mayor's family was on board as well. A family of riches that would pick up her shop. The woman laughed along with Kade realizing that his statement would be true for her as well. She listened intently about the people who were in with the fashion scene. Sure he was listing a bit but it was more information for her that he was so generous to offer. For some reason the guy apologized for his ramblings.
"Oh no, don't apologize. You're giving me a big hand here. There are more people into the world of beauty than I thought. Well Kade, what would you say if I asked you and your workers to come and join in on my fashion show? I could really use some hair stylists and make-up artists, nail artists. It would be publicity for you, and less money spending for me. Would also dazzle up my models." She paused and then waved her hands in front of her as if she were fanning herself quickly. "Oh, oh! I could advertise your store at T.M.T! Got the new look? How about the hair to go with it? Brilliant, yes?"

Crap, crap, crap, she was late...! Usually Haruka prided herself in being quick to reply whenever Kade called her into work, but today... Well, there were distractions. And she had to make sure all of the nail polish was off of her legs before she put on pants... And why stop at pants, why not change the entire outfit? Next thing she knew, she had changed her entire outfit for the day. So, she was later than she had intended to be, and she had run all the way there.... Thank god she was just next door.
"Sorry, sorry, there was an accident I had to clean up," she apologized as she burst through the door. She was still relatively new, so even though she was the only one who regularly cut hair, she still felt like she was on a probationary period. She brushed her hair behind her ear as she hurried in to put her bag behind the desk. "Hello, I'm Haruka," she turned to Tatum and smiled. What a pretty, fashionable woman~ She was glad she had changed her clothes before coming in, she would have been embarrassed to show up in just jeans and a top in front of someone like this.

What would Kade say? “Oh, my God, yes!” Kade chimed instantly when she said that, smiling brighter as he pictured it in an uncommon moment of youthful energy. Oh~ He could see standing on the sidelines, putting make up on pretty women, fixing their hair – oh, he would love to try to do one of those fancy, totally impractical but sooo pretty styles!! He had always wanted to try to do something more than a simple shampoo and trim~! Favorite with the teachers or not, Kade had hardly gotten a chance to do anything fun with someone's hair – unless Fluerette and him were having a sleepover.. Oh, Blaire was more open to his tinkering, too, but, it wasn't that often.. He didn't bug people as much when it came to that stuff – but, if he was asked to, he would happily! To friends, of course, and Tatum was quickly becoming a part of that list~
“I love it! It's so catchy! Oh, I'll totally recommend you to anyone who comes in. You know, Haruka does – oh. Speak of the devil!” He looked over at the door as it opened, said woman coming in with an apologetic expression. Oh, coincidences! He smiled at his employee and let her come in to introduce herself to Tatum before breaking in, “Tatum here would like a trim – am I right, sweetie?” He added as he looked back to her, making sure she hadn't changed her mind while they talked.

Tatum turned around to see a sweet looking young lady burst into the shop panting and looking like she was in a big hurry. This is the hair dresser? She began with a slew of apologizes and walked over to a desk where she set a bag down. The girl had introduced herself as Haruka, assumed hair stylist.
"It's nice to meet you, Haruka. I'm Tatum."
Kade then spoke up, replying to her offer about the advertising and joining her on a fashion show. It was going to be a piece of cake with Kade on her side and his crew. If Haruka could prove to do a wonderful job on her, then they were definitely in. Kade had explained to his co-worker that she wanted a simple trim.
"Yes, please. I was thinking of coloring my hair due to my employee's vivid violets, but I decided to stay natural. Not everyone should peacock at once. Sometimes color clashing occurs and I'm not having that in my store, no thank you."

"Nice to meet you, too." Haruka was relieved to hear that she only wanted a trim. It wasn't that she wasn't comfortable doing anything more complicated, but after what had just transpired that morning, she was still feeling a little shaky, and she didn't trust herself with a pair of scissors for too long. She may fall into her thoughts, remember it, and accidentally cut off too much in her embarrassment! ...It had happened once before, when she was practicing. And she fully intended for it to never happen again. "A trim? That's totally doable," she replied with a smile. She gestured for Tatum to take a seat in one of the salon chairs as she listened to her speak. "You have a store?" she asked. "What kind?" Okay, so she still wasn't great at the conversation aspect of her job. She wasn't as extroverted as Kade was, but she could hold her own. Most of the time. Still, she was interested. She was worrying about color clashing? That had never occurred to her. But maybe it was because she spent so many years around some odd hair colors, too. As she waited for an answer, she grabbed a cape. It was a nice distraction from her awkwardness, being at work.

Tatum walked over to one of the chairs in front of a mirror Haruka guided her to. Sitting down, the hair dresser asked about her store and went about grabbing the cape so she wouldn't have her own hair stuck to her clothes.
"Oh yes, I do own a store. I'm all about the fashion industry. I modeled and traveled the world opening up my stores, my fashion line. This is a growing island, and well. . let's face it. Not everyone here is. . well, let's just say they lack fashion sense. I'm just glad I met you two," she spoke to Haruka and Kade. "I like your top, Haruka. I meant to tell you earlier but it somehow slipped my mind."
Tatum started to notice something off with Haruka. Her eyes showed emotion, nervousness? She wasn't going to say anything but it was better for her not to risk it and end up with a mess of her hair.
"Something upsetting you?"

Oh, good girl, Haruka! Going straight to work! Kade sat down in his chair and turned slightly towards the girls, keeping his business smile on while he watched. It was weird when he first started to supervise a newbie like Haruka, but he had actually started to get used to it. It was kind of fun to watch a girl act so nervous – like a flash to the past! ..Well, not really, Kade was always pretty confidant when he had his hands on a head of hair – even when he made a mistake, he always came back hyped up and ready for another try! But, it was always fun to watch a beginner regardless if he went through the same emotions or not.
He crossed his legs and nodded at Tatum as she addressed him, but his eyes shifted to Haruka. She was fine with the styling bit – he wouldn't have hired her otherwise – but.. People skills? She was still pretty awkward, as anyone can see, and considering that was almost as important as the actual work – well. In Kade's opinion, at least. Still, he supposed he should help her out right then. “All around the world, huh?” He raised his voice for them to hear it, though it wasn't too difficult to accomplish that considering they were the only ones in. “Why did you stop in a small place like this, Tatum? I'm sure there's much cooler places to go to.”

Haruka paused for a moment, waiting for Tatum to settle into the chair, before draping the cape over her and clasping it behind her neck. She then went to secure her own apron. She didn't want to get hair on her own outfit, let alone this woman's! "Fashion industry!" she glanced up as she fumbled with the straps around her waist. Her interest had been piqued, and she almost forgot about hair at the moment. She had no idea there was any sort of fashion-related store on the island. Actually, she had been pretty certain, after living there for as long as she had, that she was one of the few people who actually cared. It seemed that some people were perfectly content to slap on a pair of jeans and call it a day. She broke into a smile at the thought of meeting someone, finally, who shared similar interests. She opened her mouth to say something in agreement, when Tatum complimented her outfit. Immediately, the young woman's eye dropped as she reminded herself of what exactly she had put on. Ohh, she was glad, so, so glad, that she had decided to change! "Oh, thank you. I was just admiring your outfit, too," she admitted with a flattered smile.
Finally, Haruka finished tying her own apron on, and she proceeded to grab her supplies. One problem with the system she and Kade had been following was that it always took her a moment to gather herself. She always felt a little rushed. Maybe once they got more clients, she could hang around the salon more. She liked it there. If only her house weren't just next door...
The woman's last comment knocked Haruka out of her thoughts, and for a moment, she was confused. Upset? Her? But then she remembered that she had been somewhat off since that morning, and it probably showed on her face. She had to work to come off as composed. "Oh... no... Just something happened this morning. I was just thinking about it. Nothing to worry about," she reassured her. She couldn't call herself a professional if she let personal matters affect her work!
In her hurry, Haruka had nearly forgotten that Kade was still there. Having him there was both a good and a bad thing. She always felt a little uncomfortable having him there -- however good natured he was, he was her boss, and he had much more experience than she had. Naturally, she would feel a little intimidated! She was still relatively new, afterall. But he was also the more social of the two, and he often stepped in to pick up where Haruka was lacking -- meaning, conversing with the customers. She shot him a small, thankful smile. She lucked out, sometimes.

She looked up through the mirror to see that Kade was now sitting and facing the girls with his legs crossed. That was a another sign that he was, perhaps gay. Thus making him even more fit for the job. She missed her shopping pal back home. He wasn't flamboyant but he had great tastes in men, clothes, hair products, and even cooking. He was pretty much her best friend and traveled around with him. He didn't want to come to the island though. Felt as if he would be the only homosexual. How wrong he was. This Kade guy would be a wonderful match for him as far as she could tell.
"You're right. Why in God's name would I choose a place like this. . Well think of it like a business person would. Where there is a growing economy, there will be more and more people willing to get the latest trends. Plus, shops like ours will help advertise customers to come. It's nice here too. I like my little home. Originally it was only going to be a vacation house but, I changed my mind. As you can see."
Her attention was averted back to her hairstylist of the day when she had blurted out about the fashion industry. Apparently this one was very interested on the topic. Tatum smiled and even chuckled a little. The girl was adorable. She really liked the way she looked and carried herself. The shyness could be a bit of a downer but she was sure it was because they were strangers to each other.
"Oh, thank you. This really isn't much though. Just everyday clothing," she responded to her compliment.
Haruka had said she was feeling fine despite the aura she was giving off. Tatum realized that it was nothing she wanted to talk about and decided to let it drop. No need to make the girl uncomfortable when she would be working with her hair and scissors. Starring at Haruka from the mirror she examined her features more.
"Have you ever considered becoming a model, Haruka? You're very feminine and sweet. . Pretty much the look fashion designers and agencies are looking for."

✿xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx✿ xxx x Oh, no, silly Haruka! She was being much too passive in her chat with Tatum! Kade prevented himself from frowning at her, if only because he knew such an action would just make her more nervous than she already was. Not that he thought it was because of him supervising – he just pegged her as the nervous type due to the lack of experience. He always liked having more people around, after all, so it never bothered him much to be watched. He put his attention back onto Tatum, brightening up again to seem more friendly as she replied, “Oh, I know what you mean. I was just going to stay here for a little while, but got wrapped up in the people. It's just so much more friendly in a small place like this, kind of makes up for the lack of activity, you know?” Who knew he'd end up enjoying a small population more than a big one? Of course, some interactions he would have preferred to have missed, but.. there wasn't any use brooding over it.
“Ah, ah, Tatum!” He smiled with a soft laugh in his voice, holding a finger up as he heard her next statement, “Trying to recruit my stylist? Naughty!” He shook his head, no real irritation at what he presumed her to be doing. It was actually nice of her to say that to Haruka – always better to hear a compliment like that from a practical stranger, right? “Haruka's the only girl working under me, you know, I'd be so lonely without her here..” He looked over at Haruka in study for a second, before carrying on, “Even if you would be a good model, Haruka.” If she got out of her shell a bit more. Oh, well, he'd still have a hold on her~ Even if knowing a model would be pretty cool.. ✿xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx✿

Even though she was doing her best to keep up with the conversation, Haruka just couldn't understand what these two were talking about. Afterall, she had lived there all of her life. "It's a little sleepy, but I can't imagine living anywhere else," she agreed with a smile. As far as she was concerned, she had been born on the island, was raised on the island, and would probably die on the island. She just hoped she wasn't too wrinkly by that point. But it was an interesting way of thinking about it, from a business perspective.
She was a little relieved that Tatum decided not to press the issue, even though part of her was curious for some sort of interpretation. It wasn't something she felt like she could talk to her mother about, even though they usually didn't have the parent/child barriers that you often saw. But she didn't need to go to a stranger for her problems. She did have some friends her own age, afterall. And so she continued what she was doing, which was taking a little longer than usual, since she still wasn't great at juggling conversation and work. She always felt like it would be rude to carry on without looking at them.
Haruka nearly dropped the bottle of product she had just picked up, when Tatum mentioned that she could be a model. That was a compliment she could never have imagined. In the amount of time it took for her to bite back a creeping blush, Kade had begun to speak. "Both of you, you're too nice," she laughed pleasantly, though it was obvious that the flattery was making her feel bashful. She wasn't used to compliments like that. "But I couldn't just leave Kade alone like that. What kind of employee would I be?" she laughed once more, reaching up to brush her hair out of her face.
"Besides, it's more fun to do the behind-the-scenes thing. You understand, right?" she asked Tatum. Sure, she had thought of pursuing modeling when she was younger, but she naturally shied away from the limelight. She wasn't tall or thin enough to be a runway model, but she could still surround herself with fashion by helping make it happen. At least, that's what she told herself when she finally decided that she liked hair and makeup more that dressing up in clothes. "I would be interesting in going to see your shop, though. I can't believe I've missed something like that around here. Do you sell clothes?" She sounded like a little kid who had been forced to sit quietly all day, and was now finally given the chance to talk about the awesome day they had had over the weekend. When she realized this, a little too late, Haruka cleared her throat and changed the subject. "...If you'd like to get started, I can wash your hair over there."

Tatum looked up at Kade when he jumping in that moment she finished her question. Was he afraid that she was going to steal her away? Really? His smile and chuckle made her wonder if he was joking or not. The woman had no intention to take her anyways. It was just a question.
"I only meant as a part time thing. A lot of women model for a little extra cash in their pockets. Not the trashy ones, mind you. Kade, I only just met you. I have nothing against you so why would I try and do a terrible thing like that? How unlady-like that would be of me."
Haruka chimed in thanking them and trying to simmer whatever was happening. She gently declined and declared her loyalty for her boss. She would rather be behind the curtain than entertaining in the front.
"Of course I understand," Tatum said smiling.
Haruka then brought up her shop again into the conversation. Probably a good thing to change subjects. She went on about never seeing it or hearing of it. This upset Tatum's thoughts. She had tried advertising a little and asked her associate to help too. Nothing though.
"Yes, I sell my clothing line. My shop mends clothes, creates, and sells. I would like to find some decent models though so I can get my show on the way. . I've heard of some women at the bar/strip club. . My models must have class and respect for themselves." Tatum was then cut off by Haruka wanting to get things going. "Oh, right."
She stood up from the chair and walked over to the washing station in the salon. Sitting down and laying her head back she closed her eyes and sighed happily. Getting her hair done was a wonderful beauty process for men and women.

xxx x Awe, that made Kade all warm and fuzzy inside when Haruka stood up for her job like that~! It was weird having a serious employee for once – every one of his ended up kind of.. well, wish-washy. They either were too immature to take work seriously and having light saber battles in the store, only stuck around for a day or two, or so obviously had some other aspiration in mind! Haruka was the first employee who seemed to be willing to spend her whole life there and, though Kade would have encouraged her to go out into the world some, he couldn't help being happy hearing she wasn't thinking of it behind his back. He looked at Tatum, “Oh, I know, I know, I'm only being careful, Tatum.” He replied honestly and sat back in his chair, watching Haruka continue on in the conversation easy enough..
Oh. Ouch. Um, maybe she still needed a little help..? He considered stepping in again, but.. No, Haruka wasn't going to learn if he intruded every time he saw a mistake. So, he stood up, “You girls have fun, alright? I've got to go pick up Junior! You know what to do, right, Haruka?” He called over to them as he went over to the door, pausing when he opened it until the little bells stopped their chime. ..Yep, Haruka had this covered, he was sure! Now, he could maybe go grab something at the bakery before fetching Junior – he was sure Theresa would be surprised to see him getting there first~
~Exit Kade Temporarily~!

Along the sidewalk Dawson kicked a small grey stone. It clinked off of a nearby wall and back into his path. Before he went to kick the stone once more he noticed the salons sign. Dawson approached the front door of the shop hesitantly. He pushed the door open slowly hearing the chime of a small bell. Dawson had put on a jacket to cover his tattoos whilst at work, not knowing how people would react toward him. He sighed lightly as he entered taking in the smells of jells, sprays, and fragrance of the people. He smiled as he took a few slow steps in and let the door close behind him. Dawson looked about and step up to the counter. He scanned the room listening for anyone who might be there. He tapped a small silver desk bell on the counter. It chimed three times under his palm. "H-Hello?"
