History: Living in the North was no exciting life for the Corsine family. Scientists of the Military, Mr. and Mrs. Corsine were what you could call "dogs" - earning them nothing more than long hours and one way-tickets to research for betterment in combatting weaponry. It was their job that earned them their death, leaving Anja and Vich to live on their own. A tragic beginning but the door to a new story.
Although Anja was too young to really understand the death of her parents, Vich knew all too well that his life path had to steer clear from the military's grip. He basically resented those who wore the uniform. Not even a passing soldier would be shown hospitality. They destroyed his life and he had no intention of serving them. Anja on the other hand was quite neutral towards them. But this was before she knew she was "wanted".
Anja and Vich were both skilled young people, They were talented like their mother and intelligent like their father. But, that wasn't all they were, the Corsines were very prestigious alchemists. Vich wasn't too fond of the use of his alchemy, but once Anja was able, she could do nothing more than practice.
The Corsine siblings had been gifted with the power of manipulating air fluctuation through alchemy. Many chased after Vich for his skill, knowing well that the application of compacted air and some form of forced chemical could create something deadly. Thus, he quit his use was was eventually left alone. But it was in Vich's retirement that Anja found her new talent.
The winds of the north that passed through the borders of mountains and forests were her plaything. It was a sunny afternoon out on the dock that sat over her family's small fishing lake. Anja was now 16, sprouting into a beautiful young woman. She stared deep into the glossy surface of the water below, her toes tapped the mirror-like scene. Beside her on either side was a transmutation circle. She had been drawing them for a few weeks now. She was still unsure as to why drawing one was insufficient. So, she repeatedly drew them and obsessed over them, still gaining no effect. It was on that day that she would discover that the power of her alchemy required a bit more power than one circle.
The winds passed; closing her eyes, Anja touched both of her hands to the circles and felt a reaction spark. A faint glow coated her hands and she raised them. In that moment, something magnificent was happening. As if encased in a perfect sphere, winds of high power took shape. Before her a large circle of contained winds began to gather water from the lake below. Anja opened her eyes and gasped, holding the form. She flinched at its power and allowed her hands to relax. The sphere plummeted to the lake and created a large explosion, soaking Anja where she stood.
Mouth hanging open, she just looked down at her hands. Her knees buckled and she fell on her behind. She began to wonder if she was the only one who had seen this magnificent display. Sadly, she was not. Not only was her brother and his wife running across property to her, but a man slowly walked across the dock also - his hands gently clapping.
"Anja!" Screamed Vich as he made way to her. He lifted her and held her against him.
"Such glorious talent, much like you, Vich Corsine. I didn't know there were two of you.." The uniformed man cooed.
"If you are a smart man, you'll leave my property now. No recruiters of the military are welcome here!" Vich yelled as he handed Anja off to his wife Anna who wrapped her arms around the sixteen-year-old.
Completely ignoring Vich's warning, the man extended a hand to Anja, a tattoo of a transmutation circle upon the inside of his wrist. "The military isn't as bad as your brother puts it out to be, dear girl. We give benefits to people like you. And we would love to have you.." The man softly crooned.
Before she knew it, Anja was being guided away by Anna back to their home and Vich was left behind barking profanity at the uniformed man. And that was it, Anja's awakening to the real world: to what she could become..
