Wyatt grinned at the ladies, also trying to get Willow to move faster. Squeaking happily, he couldn't help but to let go of Willow's hand when he recognized the area to search out the nest. When he found it, he turned back to the girls with a wide grin. "Come see gramma!" He crouched down, gazing adoringly at the two tiny birds huddled against another egg left to hatch.
At his question, Mersi's face reddened in irritation and embarassment. She'd had the veil pulled over her eyes. How stupid was that? And now he knew it. She crossed her arms angrily, turning back to the broken box. "I guess we'll have to." She said, kicking the waste of space box.
Gabriel, happily distracted by the frogs, remembered why he was outside again. Scooping up one of the slippery creatures, he bolted passed Terrie and into the house. "Daddy! Momma! We have frogs!"
Terrie didn't realize Gabriel had been on the move until he was pushing the door open. She sighed, heading for the door after him. She hadn't heard Mersi yell for a while, so hopefully it would be okay.

"Aww!" Corrine couldn't help but to gasp as she gazed at the two little birds. They were so adorable! She frowned though at the last egg, "Will that one be okay like dat?" She asked looking tearfully at Willow.
Willow had joined the two children on the ground and was watching the birds with interest. "So cute." She purred lightly before patting Corrine, "It'll be fine, I promise. The little guy is just...shyer than the other two I guess." The cattaur nodded as her tail brushed against Corrine in assurance, "Soon enough he'll be busily chirping away with his siblings."
"Oh-okay." Corrine sniffed before smiling faintly. "I'm glad to hear that."
"Hey." After a moment of silently observing the baby birds, Willow tugged at her grandchildren. "If we stay around too long it'll scare the parents. So we better get going." At Corrine's expression she nearly laughed, "It'll be okay, Corrine. We can visit them when I'm going home later, kay?" She nodded and stood, "For now let's go on."
"It'll be okay." Kincaid smiled before pulling back, "I'll even pay for it this time." Before Mersi could protest he was headed back up the stairs and towards Gabriel, "Oh? Frogs?" He gasped surprised and laughed, "I hope you didn't bring them inside. Oh boy!" He grinned as he realized that Gabriel had brought them in, "Well just don't let them go now. We'd have a messy frog hunt on our hands then."
Suddenly Kincaid paused and looked up. Was...that in the doorway? It had to be - Mersi's mother. "Hello there." He managed after a sheepish stare. This was going to be interesting.

Wyatt looked up nervously. He hadn't considered that the unhatched egg might be hurt... but if gramma Willow said it would be okay, it would be okay. She was so smart about these things. "Okay!" He didn't hesitate to continue on the path to the house, excited about the family time about to happen. And maybe the third egg would be hatched by the time gramma headed home.
Mersi sighed as Kincaid scurried up the stairs. He was getting to know her too well. Grumbling to herself, she grabbed a bag and packed the box and loose insulation into it. Maybe she could use the stuff for something else later on. She flicked her ears as Gabriel called out. Her mother must be here as well then. Oh! Dropping the bag, she hurried up herself, giving her mom a bashful smile. "Hi mom... Gabriel, the frog will be happier outside."
Gabriel giggled, holding out the frog for Kincaid's inspection. He shook his head. "No! He's mine now! I wanna find a box and keep him in our room and feed him and-" He looked up at Mersi and started to make a face.
Terrie took a step in before realizing someone other than her grandson was there. Right away, she knew who it was. "You must be Kincaid." She said cheerfully. He looked healthy and strong. "So, you answer where Corrine inherited her lovely coat." She smiled at Mersi, shaking her head at Gabriel before focusing on the father of her grandchildren again. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you." She gave Mersi a playful glare that it had taken so long to happen.

Kincaid frowned lightly at Gabriel before shrugging. "I guess if that's what you want, Gabriel."Looking over at Mersi he gave her the - If he doesn't get tired of it soon, we'll figure something out. look before smiling at Terrie.
"And you must be Terrie." Kincaid held out his hand, "A pleasure to finally meet you as well." He laughed before adding, "And you answered where Mersi's lovely coat came from."
"Home!" Corrine giggled happily as she let go of Willow's hand and went running inside, "We're baaaaack!" She stumbled and came to a halt after seeing her other gramma already there. "Gramma Terrie!" With a smile she latched onto Terrie's front leg for a hug.
"Now I miss having that much energy." Came a soft comment from the doorway as Willow shyly peeked in.
Kincaid chuckled softly at the golden cattaur who was his mother, "I guess we wore it out of you a looong time ago."
"Oh behave yourself." Willow playfully stuck out her tongue before giving him a grin. Her golden gaze, however, turned to Mersi and Terrie as Willow gave them a soft smile, "Hello! It's a pleasure to finally meet the two of you."

Mersi rolled her eyes in a look at Kincaid. She had just said-! Fine, whatever. "When the frog is still here in a few days, you get to tell him to put it outside." Vary rarely did Mersi get so nervous as to have her palms sweat, but the soft voice that should have been soothing did just that. She looked up at the smiling cattaur in all her golden grace. "The pleasure is ours..." She smiled weakly, like she had a stomach ache. What should she do? Offer food? They were due for a trip to the market. Tea? That would take a while to boil. Offer a seat? What if she wanted to stand? What did cattaurs eat anyway? .....She hadn't thought this through at all. It had been a while since she had put on her "lady" face as well... Casting a nervous look at Kincaid, she took a deep breath and stepped forward. Oh, what was that woman thinking of her?! "I'm Mersi..." Her hand came out hesitantly. Shake? Hug? Neither? Both???
Gabriel yelped happily, nearly squishing the poor frog to his cheek in a hug. One could almost see relief on the frog's face when Gabriel was distracted by Willow. "Gramma Willow! Daddy got me a frog!" He proclaimed, running between Willow and Mersi and holding up the frog proudly for the cattaur's inspection.
Terrie flashed a bashful grin. The young man knew how to take and give compliments. Very nice indeed. "And little Gabriel's it seems." She chuckled, glancing at Kincaid's outstretched hand. She didn't bear many social graces, but she was better at it than her daughter. She took his larger hand in both of hers and gave it a squeeze. She gasped when suddenly Corrine was clinging to her leg, smirking and reaching down to pat her head. "Hello sweetie." While Mersi was distracted seeming to attempt a greeting with Willow, why was she so nervous?, Terrie took a step closer to Kincaid looking at his eyes a moment before smiling and whispering to him. "Thank you for taking care of Mersi and the babies. They're a fine bunch of children because of you two, and such a blessing." Accidental or not, she loved her grandbabies, and knew Mersi loved them, and they spoke so highly of their father. It was such a relief to be able to meet him face-to-face and tell him so, even if he already knew it.
Wyatt padded in quietly after Willow, excited by the feel in the air. Everyone was being nice and friendly. Giggling, he chased after Corrine and grabbed both her and Terrie's leg into his own happy hug. "We saw teh baby birds daddy." He said softly, looking up at Kincaid and Terrie.

"Oh, don't worry." Kincaid gave Mersi a small grin, "I'll have something figured out by then." His tail twitched mischievously at the promise.
He squeezed Terrie's hand back in a small shake before pulling back to watch his children. Though he was taken by surprise at Terrie's whispered comment. His cheeks flushed faintly as he shook his head, "It's more of a thank you to Mersi. I don't, I mean I didn't...well - she's just amazing." He replied quietly as he peeked over at her.
Seeing her nervous look, Kincaid let out a soft chuckle and smiled at Mersi. Now how many times had he tried telling her that his mother wasn't anyone to worry about?
"Hello, gramma. We's gonna have fun today right?" Corrine giggled before she heard Gabriel's comment. "A frog? Daddy did?" Corrine opened her mouth in surprise as she looked over at her brother before giggling happily at Wyatt. "We did, daddy! Oh? Could we has a bird if Gabs gets a froggie?"
"Oh, I don't think the birds would like that." Kincaid quickly recovered as he shook his head, "We'll get you something later when we're at market - okay, Corrine?" He added quickly when he saw her pout.
Looking at Wyatt Kincaid smiled and ruffled his hair, "Oh? So how are they? I bet that those babies are really fluffy right? Or are they featherless?" He asked with some curiosity.
"Mersi. I'm really glad to finally meet you." Willow smiled brightly as she took Mersi's hand, but pulled her into a hug. Like Kincaid the cattaur had no real concerns about personal contact. Purring Willow pulled back to look at Mersi, "My son seems to be really lucky now. Thank you for putting up with him despite everything." She added playfully before Gabriel rushed over.
"Oh, really?" Willow purred in faint amusement as she looked down at Gabriel, "But what are you gonna do with the little guy, Gabriel?"

Mersi was startled by the hug, but was beginning to relax. Kincaid had been right. The older woman hadn't tried to strangle her. Just a hug. She smiled bashfully in a copy of the one Terrie had given Kincaid earlier. "Well, I just, we had to-" She glanced over at Kincaid and Terrie huddled together. Were they talking about her? Of course they were. What else? Seeing him talking to the children, she smiled, relaxing another fraction and facing Willow again. "Despite everything." She repeated jokingly, nodding in agreement. Wait- Did she just hear Kincaid just promise pets?!
Gabriel nodded excitedly. "Yep! He's all mine Corri!" He looked up at Willow, clutching the frog to his chest. "I'mma love him an' feed him flies an' keep him in our room an' make a little place for him to sleep an' name him... um... Willah! After you gramma!"
Terrie beamed at Kincaid's praise of her daughter. "The both of you." She emphasized. They had to be working together to raise such well-rounded children. Like herself and her husband. Proud of Mersi's choice in men, as unconscious as it may have been, she gave his hand one more pat before turning away. "Lots of fun Corrine." She cooed, scratching behind Corrine's and Wyatt's ears.
Wyatt flipped his ears back. He wasn't sure he wanted a frog of his own... A bird might be neat though! But, what could the market offer better then brand new baby birds to raise? He was about to ask when Kincaid focused on him and he grinned. "Dey were a little fluffy. One wasn't open yet, but gramma Willow said it would soon. Dey really cute and dey said chirp, chirp!"

Willow smiled at Mersi before looking back at Gabriel with a raised eyebrow, "Oh really?" She really couldn't protest against him when he looked so excited about it. Exchanging a hopeless gaze with Kincaid the cattaur nodded, "Well if you say so, Gabriel. I trust you to take good care of... Willah." She flushed lightly, "Thanks for that."
Kincaid smiled at Terrie and scratched the back of his warm neck before looking back to his children, "Ah, I can believe that. Baby birds are always like that." He nodded, "Sometimes one is always 'shyer' though and takes some extra time to come out."
"Great!" Corrine giggled up at her Gramma Terrie before latching onto Wyatt, "This is gonna be such a fun day!" She grinned brightly before looking over to Gabriel, "We has ta fix a place up for Willah then!" She pouted innocently, "Unless ya don't want our help, Gab?"
Kincaid sent Mersi a 'please don't kill me' look before yawning, "Oh! That reminds me, we should get going." The foxtaur kissed his mother's cheek, "Mom do you mind watching the kids with Terrie while Mersi and I go to the market? We had an 'ice box problem' and need a new one." He looked over to Terrie, "Is that alright?"
"Oh?" Willow purred teasingly, "And here I thought my son was sincerely happy to see me. But no, like always he needs something." She ruffled his hair and smiled at his protest, "I know Kincaid." She whispered before pulling back from their hug, "I don't mind watching the children." The golden cattaur smiled at Terrie, "I do hope it's okay with you, Terrie."

Mersi responded right back to Kincaid with the look that said she just might sock him one. 'Anything more active than a turtle and he gets to keep it in his room.' She thought to herself. She couldn't help but giggle at her son's choice in frog names, giving Willow an apologetic smile. Having a frog named after you... Probably not the highest honor, but she knew Gabriel thought it was. She perked her ears, glancing at her mother. Right, the ice box. She scowled slightly, still angry about it. She had to force it to the side before she could start cursing again. "Yeah, sorry mom. We had an ulterior motive for having you over."
Gabriel looked up from his frog to Corrine. "Well... You two can help, but I wanna do most of it." He turned and scurried into their room to find a good place for a frog. There had to be a box around here to keep him until his new home was ready.
Terrie chuckled, shaking her head. "That's what I'm here for. Go get that ice box." She cocked her head slightly. "But, didn't you just buy-" The hot flush on Mersi's face said it all. "Oh dear. Well, try the centaurs. That's where your father and I got ours. Many years and still working." She looked over at Willow and nodded with a smile. "I think this will be a wonderful opportunity." She may not have known her daughter's fighting side, but she saw the slight slump of Mersi's shoulders, knowing she was dreading what the two mothers would find to talk about.
Wyatt smiled and nodded. He was sure the shy bird would be out by today. Its siblings would encourage it to come out of the shell! He flicked his tail, clinging to Corrine but looking up at Kincaid sadly. "Going? Can't you go after dey leave?" He had thought they would all be together today!

Corrine giggled at Gabriel, "Kay, kay!" Though her ears flicked down against her head as she followed Wyatt's gaze to look mournfully at their parents, "Yeah. Why can'tcha?"
"It'll be okay, guys." Kincaid felt hopeless against those sad faces and so the foxtaur bent down to put an arm around each in a hug, "If your grammas don't mind, we'll come back before evening and all of us can have a big dinner together. If it's nice outside perhaps a giant picnic. Maybe even play some games, okay?"
Willow smiled at Terrie, "I think this will be a great opportunity as well." The cattaur purred lightly before looking at her two grandchildren, "It'll be okay guys. We'll get together so many times in the future after tonight that you'll be thinking we live here."
Kincaid nodded one last time before squeezing his children in a hug and standing, "Mommy and Daddy will be back with a new icebox soon, okay? We'll get some food and other supplies while we're out as well. But it really shouldn't take that long."

Gabriel came back into the main room. “Daddy, I need a box for Willah!”
Mersi looked down at Gabriel, at the frog, and shook her head. Like it was meant to be. “Hold on Gabby.” She padded down into the cellar again, grabbing the previously useless box from the bag she had stuffed it into. It didn’t look completely busted. Pulling out as much of the insulation as she could, she brought the junky icebox and gave it to Corrine. “Here. Why don’t you rinse this out for your brother, and he can put the frog in there while you all look for a good place for… Willah.” It took what she could to keep from laughing and inadvertently insulting Gabriel. She gave Terrie a hug before grabbing her coin bag and heading for the door, kissing the children’s heads as she passed them. “Like your father said. We’ll be home in time for a picnic.” She gave the grandmothers a thankful smile. “Thanks again for this. I really do apologize for the short notice.”
Waving a hand, Terrie half-shooed the grown up kids out to the door. “Don’t worry. We’ll have so much fun you’ll be back before the little ones notice.” She grinned, walking obviously over to Willow and leaning forward conspiratorially with a mysterious glint in her eyes, though spoke loudly enough for Kincaid and Mersi to hear. “Now, I bet we have some adorable baby stories of those two to share~!”
Wyatt squeezed Kincaid’s arm in his own hug, flicking his tail in both a mix of excitement and disappointment. Having everyone together the whole day would have been more fun, but a picnic just might make up for it. “Okay.” He sighed heavily, but perked up and looked at Willow. “But gramma! Won’t Grandpa Ra-feel miss you?” He asked uncertainly. Besides… he didn’t want to have to share his bed if they ended up living there… Gabriel tended to move a lot in his sleep.

Kincaid couldn't help but to grin every time he heard 'Willah'. He chuckled as they were ushered out the door before pausing, "Hey now about any of those stor-
"So we'll see you two later!" Willow cut Kincaid off with a sweet purr, "Don't waste time now, Kincaid." She whispered before pushing him gently and closing the door behind them. She laughed at his expression before turning back to Terrie with a nod, "Of course~"
"Oh great." Kincaid let out a laugh as he looked to Mersi with a hopeless shrug, "Mothers." Slinging his pack over his shoulders the foxtaur looked up at the sunlight, "We definitely have plenty of time."
Willow smiled at Wyatt, "He probably would. My poor darling would be awfully lonely." She purred before flushing lightly as she thought of the handsome foxtaur who was her mate, "I have the feeling that he'd kidnap me back if I tried. So don't worry Gramma will go home in time." Really - even with so many children and grandchildren that term was still weird for the cattaur. Gramma Willow.
Corrine giggled, "Maybe papa would move in wit us!" She smiled up at Terrie and Willow before latching back onto Wyatt. "What should we does first?" She pondered out loud - Gabriel had his froggy, but what else was there?

Gabriel grabbed the box, put the frog in and shut the lid tightly to make sure the frog wouldn't escape. For good measure, he put a blanket over the lid. He stepped back, admiring his work, when suddenly his face fell and eyes watered. "Grammaaaaa!!!" He wailed. "Willah needs ta be in the box cause I don't want 'im ta get lost but if I close it he won't be able to breath an' he'll die but I don't wanna leave the lid open 'cause he might get out!"
Mersi stuck her tongue out at the closed door. Her eyes widened at Gabriel's complaint, but relaxed, able to clearly hear through the door what he was saying. "With those three running around, they won't have time to talk about our baby stories, whatever those would be." She tied her bag around her waist and headed down the path.
Terrie smirked, chuckling softly. She had already done the baby raising thing. She was happy now being able to play during the day and then not have to worry about putting the children to bed at night at all. And she would miss Emris something awful. Sighing, she padded over to Gabriel and patted his head. "Now don't you be screaming like that. We'll figure this out with some good thinking. Now, get your frog and hold onto him." She went over to the small tool drawer and started sifting through it.
Wyatt smiled and nodded at Willow. Good, the bed could stay his. He flicked his ears, wrinkling his nose at his brother's shouting. "I dunno Corri. We already looked at teh birds." He cocked his head in thought. "We could look for more froggies, and den Willah wouldn't have ta live here alone!"

Kincaid grinned, "True!" He flushed lightly just thinking of what some of those stories would contain if his mother ever got the chance. Still the male fox trotted awfully fast down the path that led out of the forest and towards the market.
"Ah, don't worry Gabriel. Willah will get air once we work with his....home." Willow smiled and patted her grandchild's head before turning to watch Terrie, "Looks like you're a step ahead of me." She commented with a light purr.
"Oooh!" Corrine clapped at Wyatt's idea, "We could, we could!" She smiled brightly and nodded, "Willah would be happy wit that." Though she looked thoughtful. In her childlike imagination she was already planning on going to the market with Wyatt and getting him a baby bird when they were older and could do that type of stuff.
Willow peeked over at the other two and smiled. Sounded like they were going to be making a trip to the creek in a bit. Though she wondered what their parents would think when they came home to more frogs. The thought made her chuckle softly under her breath.

**Should we let Mersi and Kincaid free for now, or did you want to see them in town?**
Terrie glanced back at Willow and smiled. "I just have an idea." She sifted the drawer a little more before finding her prize, a short screwdriver. With the box, she yanked out the inner lining of the lid and set it to the side, then stabbed some holes with the screwdriver into the lid. She closed the lid over the box and nodded. "All right." She stood, bringing the box to Gabriel. "Lets get some dirt and grass and rocks, maybe a bit of water, and that'll be good for now." She grabbed a shallow bowl to fill with water and put into the box.
Gabriel jumped happily. "you're gonna get a little home Willah!" He said, running to the door. "Come on guys! Lets get Willah's box ready for 'im!"
Wyatt smiled bashfully, proud that Corrine liked his idea. It would be nice to have pets to watch over. They would be easier than watching out for his brother. "We gonna get Willah some friends Gabby, so get lotsa' dirt!" He giggled, running after his brother, though he paused expectantly at the door, waiting to make sure the ladies were following.
