Brooklyn nodded. "I'm sure. Why wouldn't I be?" Kai. Tala. Enough to go and jump off a bridge. But who's complaining? His mind supplied sarcastically. Brooklyn frowned briefly at those thoughts and sighed. "I'm fine. Really." Liar

Kai looked hurt. "Really? Damn. There goes all my fun for this afternoon. Care to help me make cookies instead? You know how bad I am with cooking." He paused to consider that statement for a moment before smirking. "Almost as bad as you."

Brooklyn saw Bryan's raised eyebrow and blushed, turning around abruptly. "Do you want a cup of coffee? It's the least I can do for trying to kill you with a stick and then making you fall."

And it'll hopefully keep my mind off a certain two people

Brooklyn began walking and looked over his shoulder at Bryan. He was interesting. Much more interesting than most of the people Brooklyn had met. He joined the long list of two people who he couldn't work out within the first five minutes.

I thought I wasn't thinking about them.

Kai smirked as the reached the house that Kai shared with his grandfather. "Prove it." He challenged as he led the redhead into the door. He ignored the dark and dank feel of the house. He had grown up with it. Kai's grandfather wasn't the best of role models.

Kai glanced around the house, taking in the empty alcohol bottles scattered throughout it. Not the best role model at all.

Brooklyn grinned. "Good." He led Bryan to a small coffee shop. "Cappuccino?" He asked.

Kai and I always used to come here. he thought sadly, his emotions flickering across his eyes as they briefly looked down before returning to look up at Bryan.

I'm not thinking about him.

Brooklyn had discarded Tala from his thoughts. He had thought that he had liked the redhead but knew that he couldn't be right. He had only wanted what was Kai's. He had wanted what he couldn't have.

"Hm?" Kai asked as they stepped into the kitchen. The kitchen was one of the few rooms that wasn't completely trashed in his house. This was mostly because Kai had taken control of it. He was actually an ok cook. He just preferred to watch as his red haired boyfriend showed off his culinary talent. That way he could get enjoyment out of both cooking phases. The making and the eating.

Kai belatedly realised that all of those experiences had been in Tala's kitchen. Tala had never been to his house. "Oh! In case if you couldn't tell, this is home."

Brooklyn raised an eyebrow. "Mocha? Manly drinking tastes there." He said, smirking. He turned to order a Mocha and a cappuccino. When he had finished he turned around and led Bryan to a corner booth. "I'm Brooklyn." He said casually as he slid into the seat. "Stop calling me kid. I'm not a kid."

"Cookies, I believe." Kai told him, smirking as he watched Tala inspect the room to get a feel for it. It was one of his favourite among many of the redheads strange habits. The way that he would ignore everything to scope out a new place. It had always intrigued Kai.

"It's not that bad." Kai told him, relaxing and leaning against a bench. "Though, about the only clean rooms are this one and my bedroom." He shrugged. "My grandfather doesn't really care about mess and I'm normally to busy to do anything other than keep these two rooms clean.

"Really? You're in my Science class. Mostly you spend your time seeing what will catch on fire if you put it through a Bunsen burner though so it's probably not that surprising you haven't noticed me." He sighed and leant on the table. "To be honest, apart from knowing to avoid you I don't know that much about you. At all." Brooklyn began to trace patterns on the table, stopping when he realised that he was spelling out Kai's name.

Kai looked at what he was holding. "You tell me. That's the drawer where I put random stuff." He blinked and backtracked. "Wait up. You want to check out my bedroom? That's a little bit suggestive, no? He asked, smirking as he watched Tala continuing to explore.

Brooklyn shrugged and looked up at the girl who had come to deliver their coffee. "Thanks. He said quietly, accepting his coffee and sipping it, relishing in the taste.

Once he had finished savouring his coffee he once again turned his attention back to the teen in front of him. "Is there any reason why I shouldn't want to know about you?" He asked playfully.

This is actually working. Talking with Bryan is... different.

Kai put his head on the side and made a big show of thinking about it. "Hmm..." He turned quickly and wrapped his arms around Tala's neck, pulling him in to nuzzle his hair. Kai loved the redheads hair. He swore that he had never felt anything so soft. "Would you kill me if I told you I just wanted to watch you cook?" He asked quietly.

Brooklyn arched an eyebrow and sipped his coffee. "Lucky you know better then, hey? I'd like to think if I was going to hit on you I wouldn't be quite so obvious about it."

Inwardly Brooklyn grinned. Toying with Bryan was a whole lot more fun than moping over Kai and Tala. Even thinking their names didn't hurt anymore. Brooklyn had found something a lot more interesting to play with.

Kai smirked and pulled up a barstool to sit on. "Do I detect an insult there?" He asked, leaning back on the seat and enjoying the view.

Brooklyn chuckled as he took another sip of his cappuccino. "So. While we're on the subject. Tell me about yourself. I'm dying to know." He began drawing random patterns on the table again, this time staying away from the realms of Kai's name.

Kai ate one of Tala's cookies with relish. "Remind me to always invite you over whenever I have a hankering for cookies" He told the redhead matter-of-factly before taking another bite of the cookie deliciousness. "These are possibly the tastiest cookies I've ever eaten." He told Tala honestly.
