"I don't know any student that would want to use their powers to make this happen," Conrad said in defense. "I'm just saying, what if the teachers found a way to mimic that power? It's possible to do it in the cells because each tiny space is concentrated with immense volts of counter-power, but it's not easy to use that in such a large area as the dining hall. So they'd need something that works similarly to Eliza's power." He turned to the girl in question. "What fuels your power, and how can that fuel be mimicked?"

"Energy. It fuels me. The more I have the stronger I am to take more. It's a never-ending circle." She rubbed her eyes, hoping to wake up a little bit. She was moments away from falling asleep where she sat. "Mimicking it has always been the Grand Plan. But it's not possible. You'd need to create an energy vacuum. It's not even ideally possible..." She repeated, mostly for her own benefit. The idea that her power has been turned against, not only her but, the entire school, was ultimately the most frightening thing she's never imagined.

"But think about it," Conrad said, stifling a yawn. "Don't we all feel out of energy? Couldn't it be possible that this is an artificial form of your powers?"
Conrad tried to think of something that could form a power vacuum... then he had a nasty thought.
"What if," he said hoarsely, "while a student is in the cells, the cell's power-sucking volts are actually storing the powers they steal? And what if those powers could be turned into energy? Over the years, they've had loads of students in those cells. Maybe they've saved enough by now."

Everyone is changing
There's no one left that's real
To make up your own ending
And let me know just how you feel

[[Let me think on this a bit...I need some sort of concept to get a good idea up. Here's an attempt. Sammy, hope you have not used up all of my story-creating juice!]]

Mr. Silas Rigger, the mastermind of many insidious ideas was rather proud of himself now. To test out a weapon that would possibly destroy all of these magic users on the wealth provided was one of his best ideas. The whole concept was one used in fights regularly. To be able to change the tables and reverse a person's strength was a standard technique.

The cells had been sucking out powers and storing them, two people's in particular. It would be the cure to this crazy 'anomaly' that other countries and this one used for war. All that had to be done was to expose the monsters to an energy drain and replace the power.

Their powers would be drained out, but would recover with a few hours if nothing more was done. A new power had to be given to slow the progression; they would absorb the power to absorb. Then, when exposed to a power surge, the powers would cancel out, leaving a normal person. It was a genius plan.

Silas overlooked the student who were currently fueling the surges. It would take a while to put in motion still. They would have to test on single students first to allow adjustment. Several would die before it was fully ready.

[[Whew! That was a spur of the moment idea! Hope this helps out with the plot a little sweatdrop If this makes no sense, ask me and I shall answer questions to the best of my ability on this idea. I thought of it as i typed so this will probably come across as gibberish...]]

Conrad knew this was the only idea they had. As the signal to go to their first classes rang through the dining hall, he whispered hurriedly to the girls on either side of him. "If whatever did suck and store the powers is mechanical, I can take care of it in no time. But I need someone else to find it for me. Try to think... where could they keep such a machine?
Good luck in your classes."
Luckily for Conrad, he had basically no classes involving magic or powers. But those others who depended solely upon them were sure to have a rough day ahead.

User ImageCasidhe's face did not change expression, even as she failed to read the minds of Evangeline, Eliza, and that boy they were suddenly hanging around with. She watched the faces of other students as they became panicky and exhausted, their powers and security gone.
This put some new developments into effect, she thought as she threw out her garbage and walked to her next class. The familiar grounds would need to be retested. She didn't know for certain which side was the best in this situation: the students' or the teachers'. On one hand, a bunch of people who relied on their powers and were suddenly missing them were pretty small friends, and the people who had taken those powers were big friends worth having. On the other hand, she didn't like having her own powers taken away, and from the smug look on Mr. Rigger's face, she knew he was involved in all of this.
She made a decision. Knowing she had enough time, she stepped through the crowd and came to Mr. Rigger's side. Putting on a face of concern and hero-worship she knew he couldn't penetrate, she whimpered, "Mr. Rigger, can you please help me? I feel so strange."
Casidhe relied on either of two things. One, Mr. Rigger's contempt for students would lead him to brag. Two, her reputation amongst the faculty as a 'good, obedient girl' would earn her credit.

Unfortunately Casidhe was a little off in her take of things. "I suggest going to the infirmary. Perhaps a little while of rest will solve your discomfort," Silas replied. The infirmary was one of the safer places. It still blocked powers, but it did not drain energy from people.

Silas knew the girl. She was obedient and trusting. Silas's hate of magic users was very strong. This student was a mind reader, one of the few powers he ever took notice of. It was a dangerous power for someone to have. One he was happy was not functioning.

With a sigh, Eliza stood and threw her trash out. Off to her first period she was, Close Quarter Combat. A class she never really enjoyed, considering her "no touch, no foul" rule. But now they might have some fair fights. She liked things at a fair level.

((I apologize for the shortness.))

It was a day like this that Emma regretted having the first period class she did. The first day of school was never easy, and she had a feeling that today would be one of the worst. Though it was a beautiful day outside the Academy's walls, there was an aura of darkness within. And she didn't need magic powers to tell you that.

The school was quiet. Had something happened last night? I have a huge blank.... what went down? She thought as she walked by a group of half-dead or -asleep teenagers. A light bulb struck in her head, as it was probably happening to all the students. The plan is set in motion? She asked herself as she walked into the good sized work room for Close quarter Combat. No one spoke or acknowledged her presents. Most of the students were asleep. Some were still showing up, moving as slugs would. Actually, slugs would win a race against these kids.

Her feelings she hides,
Her dreams she can't find
She's losing her mind,
She's fallen behind

Evangeline walked into the classroom with Eliza. They were among the perkier of the student there. "I hope we are only sparring today. Several periods of this today and I'll be wiped," She whispered to Eliza.

She can't find her place,
She's losing her faith
She's fallen from grace,
She's all over the place

Eliza laughed softly, as not to disturb the slumber masses around them. "I think, at this point, no one's even up to move. Never mind Spar.' She said quietly as the teacher, Ms. Hanson walked in. "What do you think she'll do to us today?" She asked.

Conrad yawned - a thing he never did. "If the teachers really are in on this, then she'll know we're all too exhausted to do much," he muttered.
A moment later another classmate walked into the room. Conrad recognized her, but didn't know her name. The general opinion of her was that she was a teacher's pet, but people were too afraid to talk about her. For one thing, she was a mind reader. For another thing, her whole aura was just frightening.
The girl walked up to the teacher and began talking to her. Conrad strained his ears, trying to hear, but only tired himself out.

Casidhe gulped down her pride and her disappointment that her attempt to get information from Mr. Rigger had not worked. Now, she put on her face of concern and innocence again to face another teacher. This one had regarded her with a little more favor than Mr. Rigger had, after all. Mr. Rigger was all brawn and no brain.
"Miss Hanson, I feel so queer," Casidhe whimpered quietly. "What's happened to me?"

There was a man who lived in Leeds;
He filled his garden full of seeds.
And when the seeds begin to grow,
it was like a garden full of snow

Emma looked as the girl in front of her. She had heard of the child as "Well brought up and quiet". "Casidhe, I don't know what's going on. Everyone seems exhausted. All I can tell you is to go to the nurse. i have no answers beyond that. Please excuse me." She turned around and faced the black board. Since it was the new year, she had to start with the standard "Introduction to the course" which consisted of an assessment as to a students fighting standard. But that seemed to have to be tomorrow. She considered all of theses facts as she wrote her name on the whiteboard, before turning back to the students all sitting in neat rows of seats provided.

"Good Morning Students. Welcome to the new year." She started. "Now i was going to start off with testing you on some combat standards. Seeing as how you are all asleep, I'll just introduce the standards instead." And she droned on about things she didn't want to be talking about. She wanted to demonstrated and observe as repeatedly practiced throughout the year. Some things just must be done. She thought as she wrote some things on the board.

And when the door begins to crack,
it's like a penknife in my back.
And when my back begins to bleed...
I'm dead,dead, dead indeed!

"Looks like we lucked out today." Eliza commented as Ms. Hanson rambled about the standard knowledge of blah blah blah. Oh yes, Eliza cared a lot about what was happening right now. "Conrad, we have classes with Rigger soon... do you think he'll go easy?" Knowing Rigger's ruthlessness, it was all she could do to hope. Sadly, with the energy drained out of the school, there wasn't a lot of hope around.
