Dsay Valentine to neko: good luck knitting hon!! its tons of fun, just ask me or entervixen!!
and yes, citric acid found in lemons will curdle milk. not sure on oranges, but lemons will. its the amount of milk v.s. lemon juice. I can see how it'd be fun, once I get the hang of it. I'm decent at crocheting. Just.. GR!!, lol. I've also discovered that tomato soup will curdle milk. Now that's a bit.. gross, lol. entervixen It will with oranges too. Neko: Good luck with the knitting! I love to knit, been doing it about six years now, if you have any questions you can pm me and I'll try to help ya out as much as I can. smile Okay, so I've managed to make 10 rows finally. Have been having to start over again because I keep missing loops and I don't know how to fix that yet. I started out with 15 loops, and somehow at 10 rows I ended up with 20. And you can see, very clearly, that the pattern is getting wider. And I just can't figure out how the hell I'm adding loops. I'm doing the same thing over and over again, no distractions, and yet.. Poof, more loops.

It's actually really easy to add more stitches on accident. It could be you're accidentally knitting a stitch here and there twice, it's easy enough to do. Pay attention as well to the last stitch of a row when you switch to the other hand, if you accidentally pull the working yarn up over the needle instead of keeping it behind, it will look like two stitches even though it's one, so you wind up knitting the extra, and it can be hard to see. Both are super easy to do, I know I made both mistakes for ages.

It's never at the end, but somewhere in the middle. It looks like two stitches that are crossed and you can't uncross them. And I tried to go back and fix it, but I don't know how to undo that kind of stitch.. I've figured out how to undo regular stitches, though not how to undo an oopsie of dropping a loop yet.

KasaChan OMG Tomato soup and milk? don't you add milk to make the soup, I know I do. I had made it in the microwave 'cause I was hungry and lazy. I heated it up then added the milk. What kind of milk do you use? I use either 2% or 1%.

it's helpful to count the number of stitches after each row,sao you can correct any mistakes before proceeding. that's pretty much how i made my scarf.

I went back and couldn't correct the extra stitch, I couldn't figure out how and ended up losing both stitches and having to start over.

well, practice makes perfect. you'll get it eventually. what kind of yarn are you using? cuz sometimes the chunky or furry yarns make it harder to keep track of stitch count.

Rizu-Sensei well, practice makes perfect. you'll get it eventually. what kind of yarn are you using? cuz sometimes the chunky or furry yarns make it harder to keep track of stitch count. It's basic yarn. Stuff I was using when I was crocheting. Figured the same stuff would work. My mom warned me about fluffy yarn, said it's more difficult to work with and loses it's fluffy if you don't do it right. I've just started counting how many stitches I've done before I move on to the next row. Takes forever, but when I'm doing just 15 it isn't so bad. Rizu-Sensei i think the milk is supposed to go in before you heat it up, or while it's heating, so it has time to meld. unless i'm thinking of something else, which is entirely possible. =? crying I don't know, it was my first time trying to make tomato soup by myself.

It sounds like you accidentally knit a stitch twice, though you might have split a stitch and knit both splits (which is another easy way to accidentally increase). If you catch it on the row where you made the mistake you can just knit two stitches together as if it's one, it'll bring the number of stitches back where it should be without affecting the width.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of doing.. just wasn't sure how weird it'd end up looking.

What kind of milk do you use? I use either 2% or 1%. what ever kind I have in the fridge. I try to buy 2% since the idea of milk grosses me out, it's more watery and makes me happy. (I try not to think "cow nipples" when I drink it, but sometimes I do and feel yucky)

When I make tomatoes soup I mix the milk and soup together before putting them in to heat up. That way things can mix easier after they are heated up, something about tempering the milk so it will mix better.
And I only know two knit stitches, knit and pearl. One day, I will learn more (I hope!)
