Randall didn't turn back but he did respond with a, "I won't," so she knew that he heard her. So he quietly made his way back up the hill and stood in a part of the long grass that he knew would hide him well enough until Key and Rycek came back for him. As he huddled in the grass, his eyes gazing out to parts where he believed anything that could be annoying would come from, he couldn't help but think about what he saw. Although Randall has seen enough women, it was the first time he saw an elf like that, so it got to him in a way no one else had. He didn't like how he was thinking about Key, he only knew her for a day. Maybe he should of just crossed the river instead of being willing to catch a squirrel. "I'll probably see it later on tonight when I sleep..." He muttered and closed his eyes for a brief second, it had been an interesting day at least.

She shook her head and paid him no more mind, and attened to the list in her head. With enough fish caught and flopping around on the bank she finished her own bath and pulled herself from the water, drying off and dressing lightly. No need for her usual cover-all ridering gear, as when she went to climb the waterfall, Rycek may not be able to easily make the journey as a mount. A look to the wolf then as she was shaking off. "Go hunt something with four legs. Don't be too long." As the wolf headed up the hill past Randall and into the grass, Key called up to him as she stared gathering some sticks. "Come down now. It's safe to cross the river."

Again Randall was lost in thought as he stood on the hill, thinking of what he could do with everything that was going on. Though he was suddenly brought out of his train of thought when he saw Rycek walk on by him. He then turned toward Key when he heard her voice and so he slowly made his way back down to her. When he stopped next to her he casually looked toward the river for a moment, his eyes had a far off look in them before he turned to Key and smiled. "I'm not going to go...yet. I feel like I should keep on traveling with you, if you do not mind that is."

She was already crouched on the ground and starting a fire with what she had gathered when he meandered back down. And she was quite intent on paying him no more mind when it seems that his plans had changed. "If you could keep up." She knew she wasn't going to be babysitting and if he couldn't keep up or contribute then he'd fall behind in time and she wouldn't look back. Thusly picking up another fish she threw it at him like she had before. "Then start gutting, cleaning, and scaling that so we can make it travel ready." Turning her attention to doing the same on another she prodded some, "What skills do you have?"

"I can." And he knew he could keep up with her, if she didn't go running off on that wolf of hers. Though he had a feeling that she was hoping he wouldn't be around any longer, but he had to listen to his gut, and it was telling him to follow her, where ever she was going. When Key tossed the fish at him, Randall grabbed it by the tail and got down on his knees, taking out a dagger and went about cleaning it up. His fingers moved over the body of the fish as he began scaling it. After cleaning off the scales he used the knife, splitting the fish into two pieces as guts poured out. Randall then scooped the guts up and put them aside. "Aside from my fire and my fighting skills I know how to fish, track, hunt various animals. I know how to take care of myself out here." When he finished wipping his hands Randall began to out a few small bones that be believed could be a problem, the last thing he wanted to do was choke on a bone.

So he at least wasn't useless and she didn't have to worry about catering to perhaps pampered tendencies that she had found in most humans. Nobles who wandered into the fields of battle and adventure, whom were woefully unprepared for the reality of it all. Meanwhile she was quickling breaking down fish as well, cutting off large thick fillets as well as some thin ones. Leaving for a moment she moved to her things that were attached to the idly sitting saddle. She came back with a bag full of salt which she started placing a few chunks in and shaking the bag from time to time to presumably imbed the pieces deeper. Setting that aside she strated to set up a smoking rack over the small fire, laying other pieces over that. "We'll have yours for lunch. What are you afraid of?" Yes she was evaluating him, but who could blame her for caution.

Randall was a bit prideful of his abilities, after all he was trained in enough ways where he could just go out into the world with nothing and come back just the same weeks later still feeling like on the day he left. "Alright then." Though there was a pause to her question after he cut up the fish and handed it to Key. He took the fish he was given out of his bag and went to work on it, though he stopped and stared at Key for a moment before turning back to the fish and began scaling it. There was silence between the two of them for awhile, Randall's fear was something he did not talk about so freely. Once he cut off the head and split it open all he said was, "Failing those who put their trust in me," and went back to work, scooping the guts out before he went about finding the bones. After picking out a few, and without even looking at her, he asked, "What are you afraid of?" to him it was only fair to know her fear, sort of.

She couldn't help but snicker at his answer. What a foolish answer it was, for if it was so then he lived in a constant state of fear. No one could ever constantly succeed. One would always fail at one point or another and the thought of doing so was in every situation one came to. Fear of the fear would hinder. Such an intangible answer was a weakness that had to be watched carefully. She would know to do so now. "Lightning. The magic and the natural sort." Mostly the former.

Apparently, the young lady had snuck off during the evening. She hadn't wanted to burden him or face all the people she would be leaving behind. But he bid the Sisters a good day all the same, and headed out alone...moving toward the river, that he would follow up into the mountainous areas and through the hidden passes to the human capital, kept safely entombed in the mountains. virtually impenetrable by land.

Randall looked at Key when she snickered, and he had a feeling of what she was snickering about. Now he didn't go into great detail of his fear but he knew how weird it sounded, being afraid of failing; but he has failed before, he just never said the kind of situation he needs to be in in order to be afraid of failing those who trust him. Mostly he was afraid of failing to keep those he knew alive, for they would put their trust in him to help them, especially in battle. That was why he tried so hard to keep his ex-comrades alive during the battle they were in awhile ago, they fought together and trusted each other in order to stay alive, and Randall had failed a few times which hit him hard long before then.

"Huh, well then I'm glad I don't know lightning magic." By then he had the fish done, two pieces cut, one for him and one for Key. He then took the pieces and went to the fire, placing them on the makeshift rack that they were going to use for cooking them. "What abilities do you have that I should know about? Aside from the obvious."

Merely an affiriming noise to him on his own comment, feeling no need to explain herself any further than was needed. Besides a little fear was healthy, especially warranted fears. They kept you alive. Getting up she picked around the stones for a moment till she found a larger flat one and plopped in in half the fire's coals, moving his fish from the rack to the stone with a sizzle as the rock was already quickly heating. "That's for now," Pointing to his, "That's for later." Pointing to her. Obviously preparation method was what she was really getting at. "Aside from the obvious? Well what is obvious to you?"

Well that wasn't food, the wolf knew that. Could be food, but shouldn't be food...when you tried to make food of people it got messy. Try to make food of the four legged things they rode was messy as well as the people often got involved. But now side tracked the wolf was watching the passing pair that she had come across in her own hunting. Hey it was that guy.

Randall had to wonder what Key would do when there was a storm out, but he wasn't going to ask her that, not yet anyway. He watched her as she got up and poked around with the fire, moving the stones around so she could put a piece on it. "Alright." So he went back to watching the fish being cooked until she answered his question with a question. "Well aside from your weapons of course, and what magic you told me, is there anything else that I should be told about just so it doesn't come as a complete surprise?" He took a knife and poked at the fish a bit to check it, and then turned his gaze back to Key.

The horse got a little skittish, feeling the presence of a predator. after all this horse was trained and been through battles and war, a lone predator was not going to send it fleeing or bucking in terror. but the skittishness was not lost on the rider, who kept his eyes peeled, searching a bit for something amiss, something hiding in the grass. But he wasn't stopping, that was for sure.

"If there is anything you should need to know, I'm sure it will come up." Simple as that. "Besides, aren't your kind supposed to enjoy surprises?" She frankly could do without but they happened. Letting him tend to the food as he seemed eager to do so, she turned her attention to making a sort of temporary camp. She was going to have to shuffle her travel ways if he was going to stick around. "You can climb well?"

No...no those were certinaly not going to be food. They weren't apprently causing trouble either. Retreating back some from her watching she scooped up the deer she had caught and made her way out of the grass to the river, splashing into the water for no care to the others near and started to follow it upstream to where her companion, and ther squirrel gatherer, were. A single glance back to the rider to make sure he hadn't gotten any ideas and she was off again.

Well Randall didn't like the fact that Key was going to keep things from him, after all they were traveling together and he wanted to make sure that he wasn't going to get caught off guard. "Sometimes, but not all the time. It's best to be prepared than to find out something at the last minute." So Randall kept an eye on the fish, it was coming along pretty well, almost done. At the same time he was going his own supplies, like extra clothing and all that, he needed to make sure he was fine for a good trip. "Yeah I can climb as good as anybody, are we going to the mountains or something?"
