MHF, stands for Monster Hunter Frontier~!!

And homfg if I could I would be all over that game! XDDD;;;

I honestly don't think the idea of zOMG is that bad... It makes a lot of sense actually and if you want to compare it to something you could actually compare it to MH in the sense that you have to upgrade the rings just like you have to upgrade your weapons and armor in Monster Hunter. So in the long run it's all good. 3nodding

Oh btw the type of game that zOMG is; is actually classified as a grinder.

Well instead of like in a normal J-RPG where you level up your character and find random items to equip on them or buy the items to equip. You have to find the materials to make the items you equip on yourself, like you need x amount of one thing and x amount of another and x amount of money to make it; which is how you make the zOMG items here.. So basically you're only as strong as you are because of the weapons, armor etc etc you have on that you equip. It has nothing to do with leveling up.

And that is what a grinder game entitles. 3nodding

Basically if the game requires you to gather your materials to make your armor and weapons stronger it's considered a grinder.

If you level up in order to become stronger in a game it's more or so an (J)RPG. Like, FF, Persona, Disgea etc.

Yeah there aren't a whole lot of games that actually fall under the category of grinder but that's the definition more or less. 3nodding

The main reason why I like Monster Hunter so much though is because it requires skill to play it actually. >w<

Aaaaah. Yeah, there are games that are just button mashing that I just hate, like Halo. Only sometimes I actually like that, cuz I get upset and want to blow stuff up >D

Ahh.. I love MMORPGs like ragnarok xD Though it doesn't sound like its a grinder type.

Yeah for the most part MMOs are grinders.

O.o; Uh, grinders?

Well if I want to blow things up then I play something that I can blow things up in. However I still rather play something that's more attention and skill related rather than button mashers alone.

MMORPG is massive multiplayer online game.

Most MMORPGs rely on leveling and correctly distributing your stats and having good weapons. If you have good weapons but bad stats you suck, if you have very good stats but alright weapons though you can do wonderfully and getting better weapons and armor are really secondary and unneded.

So most MMORPGs actually aren't grinders - as they are usually level gaining and rely mostly on stats, and weapons can't usually gain levels in them. To get better stats on a weapon you need to get a new weapon. Ragnarok is an example of that so a far cry from a grinder.

I don't know about all of the Mana series because I haven't played all of them but Secret of Mana is a bit of a grinder because you level up but the more you use a weapon the better you get with it. Legend of Mana is a less but also probably more of a grinder because you level up and all but in order to be more effective against the enemies you should stick to one weapon or 'level up' your abilities with another weapon in a lower level world.

Well the mana series are not MMORPGs though, rather just RPGs. There are quite a few normal video games that are grinders.
