Jassinm Asharu, explain to me why people think that if you wear extraordinary amounts of black you must be either some kind of villain or a "goth/metalhead/emo." For the record, I wear tons of black. That's because I like the color (lack of color, technically). It's just like a person who likes orange or green may wear those colors. Well, you gotta admit, the stereotypes are there for a reason. Sure there's plenty of people who wear this color because they like it or it's flattering. But there are also plenty of (usually wannabe) goths/punks/emos who do wear it as well.

Then, I wouldn't have to kill as many idiots.

Then, I wouldn't have to kill as many idiots. A while back I heard about this Goth Scout troop, calling themselves PerkyGoffs, who indeed asserted that pink was the new black, and that pixie stix were teh roxxorz. As for why... I think it sorta is the stereotype. Personally, I wore it because it did make a statement. I wasn't doing punk plaids-n-black, I was just doing straight-up black jeans, black t-shirts, black leather motorcycle jacket. It was comfortable and different. Then I really realized that the color probably didn't make a difference as long as I was comfortable. While the black was comfortable, I noticed that other colors were also. I noticed this most markedly the day I wore purple vinyl pants to school. Now I get away with wearing whatever I want, and I'm still more extreme than most people I meet. There's a guy two floors up who's emo, but he's cool. Most emo people are just too angsty, much like your average wannabe goth. And I generally mock punklets, those whiny little "Good Charlotte is sooo punk!" wannabe's. I think black upsets most people's sensibilities, because for too long it has been associated, at least in America (not sure about other countries), as the color of death and funerals. Having such morbid associations tends to disturb the sensitive masses, and I'm guessing that its especially for that reaction that it was chosen as the most favored color of outsider societies such as goth/metalhead/emo.

Asharu A while back I heard about this Goth Scout troop, calling themselves PerkyGoffs, who indeed asserted that pink was the new black, and that pixie stix were teh roxxorz. Bleh, just sounds like goth-wannabes. I mean, seriously, goths are bad, but goth-wannabes are just horrible. Asharu As for why... I think it sorta is the stereotype. Personally, I wore it because it did make a statement. I wasn't doing punk plaids-n-black, I was just doing straight-up black jeans, black t-shirts, black leather motorcycle jacket. It was comfortable and different. Ah, well, I just go nondescript black. Plain black jeans, long shirt, over the long shirt is a t-shirt, and over the t-shirt is either a short or long sleeve collared shirt. Sometimes, I just go plain blue jeans. No markings or words, except for one shirt that promotes one of my more favored bands, "Taking Back Sunday." Asharu Then I really realized that the color probably didn't make a difference as long as I was comfortable. While the black was comfortable, I noticed that other colors were also. I noticed this most markedly the day I wore purple vinyl pants to school. Hmm, I just like how black looks on me. I don't think I could wear a pink shirt, not because it's not black, but because it's pink. Asharu There's a guy two floors up who's emo, but he's cool. Most emo people are just too angsty, much like your average wannabe goth. And I generally mock punklets, those whiny little "Good Charlotte is sooo punk!" wannabe's. I enjoy the emo genre of music a lot (being a young teenager and all), but the scene is just too bitchy for me. Asharu I think black upsets most people's sensibilities, because for too long it has been associated, at least in America (not sure about other countries), as the color of death and funerals. Having such morbid associations tends to disturb the sensitive masses, and I'm guessing that its especially for that reaction that it was chosen as the most favored color of outsider societies such as goth/metalhead/emo. In the Chinese culture, black and white are considered the colors of death. It's rather funny, since most missionaries/priests (of Christianity, I mean) wear those colors. I suppose black is rather radical, but I like it because of it's implications, also. Rather than a color, I see it as a lack of color.

Hello every one. My name is Charity Bedell. I am 19 and currently a college freshmen. I'm an undeclared majior but I desire to be a presocial work majior with a minor in elementry education. I also have a side interest in art and someday I will have enough art credits to have a BA in art.... I would love to be a professional in the dramatic arts, unfortunatly there isnt that much work for it in my area at all. It makes a great hobby and stress relif. Its part of what keeps me sane and not hospitalized. I am adopted and have very little knowlage of my biological family. The adoption has caused me a-lot of issues. Several of the sexually based (Sexually abused as a babe). I have a tendancy to be afraid to get to know people and to let them to get to know me. I love the equine arts. I wnat to own a horse some day. I would love to learn how to fence. I am a ren faire actress. I met my boyfriend through one of my friends and then we got to know each other through the ren faire. I desire to get published someday. My writings are usually fantasy based and have some what of a connection to me directly. The charecters are usually me in some way shape or form. Keeps me from screaming my head off when I have words flowing through my mind. I am some what of an amature artist. If I could show you some of my work I would. Alas I cant. I send much of my time reaserchin religions that interest me. Usually pagan in nature but it doenst matter. I'm planning on taking a theology course some time to look deeper into things. History is one of my passions as well. I was in honors histoyr in highschool and I cant wait to take a history class in College. I live in Maine and I go to the state university in my area. My college I gave the link in case your interested in seeing where I go to school. I love to perform and I get in volved in as many performances as I can. I have a dog and a cat. Tomeka aka Sentra d'Winter aka Sentra Tomeka http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/Tomeka/SentraTomeka264akaHorohoro.jpgI want to do freelance animations >not nessicality Anime< I am going to school now to get my Media Arts and Animation Degree. I like to draw/write/read.... but i also love Native American Culture. I wanted to be a volconalogist, but it didn't work out. I pretty much a loner, and i love winter. acoording to the Chinese Elements, I am Water... and i think it fits very well. I only have ever had one crush, and the guy was gay. I'm usually drawn to infeminine men. I grew up in thre Terryall Mountains of Colorado >part of the Rockie mountians. I don't like cities, but i live in Denver know, becuase of school. As much as i like anime, I'd rather work on orignal stuff. My drawing style is inpirted by anime, but I think it's a little different. I'll let you be the judge. I like to write an contraversial essays, so most poeple think I'm rasist agaist Americans and all kinds of weird stuff. I don't think I am, I just like starting Debates. I like to get involved with human emotions, reflecting on my fictions usually being rather sad. I am pretty genourous, but as you can see, I can't spell well. But I do my best. I hate comments like "i like it" and "it sucks" becuase 'd reather know the why. I don't mind talking with people on line, and would rather enjoy some intelegnt debating or conversations. I also Like to draw for people. I can't gaurente the quality, but I do do free requests from time to time. And that's me! Hope to talk to everyone again sometime!
