Shaishuu had never had a sister, even when her parents were alive. Wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, she took a deep breath and looked steadily at Evangeline.
She didn't know exactly what 'sister' would mean, especially in this strange world. But she'd be willing to try.
"Will you be okay?" she whispered.

"Of course," Evangeline replied with a smile. "The put in real bones this time and injected them with the same solution as the rest of me. Now they will not be pushed out like the fake ones," she explained. She would still be in physical therapy and unable to transform for a long time though.

Shaishuu knew Evangeline was leaving part of the story out. A human with hollow bones was always in danger - of breaking, of crumbling. She could never fight as a human. She could never be the hunter she wanted to be again, unless someone could reverse the hollow bones.
Tears started forming again. "Are... are you allowed to go home?" she asked. "I'll push you there..."

"No, I need to stay here for a while longer. They need to make sure these bones will work properly in my body," Evangeline patted Shaishuu on the shoulder. "If you want, they could bring another bed into my room that you could sleep in," she offered. Evangeline knew everyone at the hospital and most of them would pull strings for her if she asked.

And the seasons, they go round and round

Abby was helping pull carts of supplies. She was strong enough to compete with anyone else in the pack as a wolf. They made a special harness for wolves to pull the large carts with. Abby was running races with the other for who could pull the fastest from the manor to where the walls were being made.

Several long hours later the runners were all tired and the builders were sore and Abby was panting on her back looking up at the fading sky. Crickets were chirping, something she enjoyed hear now that she wore the transmitter, and clouds were floating overhead. 'Lets see the keepers try and beat us,' she thought to herself.

Felincia woke up to a mountain of paper work. First, there were the forms to fill out as a result of Eve's injection. Then, there was the spying mission the Keepers so desperately wanted her on. Third, she needed to fill out official approval for the mass-production of Xedods. She had finished her approval for tigers, lions, panthers, and domestic cats, and was refusing hawks and eagles until further research, when her mother knocked on her bedroom door. Her face read disapproval, but Felincia was too tired to care.
"Keepers approved your request to begin experimentation with fire weapons."
Scratch that last comment about being too tired to care.
This latest idea came when Felincia was working with her Bunsen burner. She wanted a weapon that could produce a very small amount of fire in an enclosed space - not nearly as powerful as a flame thrower. Something Keepers could use if a werewolf landed on top of them and bigger weapons were no use. It had its doubts, though, and until she could experiment fully the hunters would have to depend on her capsule of condensed gas (the one she had used during the raid).
But that was going to have to wait a few days. Rushing through the forms, she ran to the Keeper's labs, dropped off the forms, ran to the medic center to visit Eve and found out she (and Shaishuu) were sleeping, ran to the Keeper spying department to get her assignment, and ran home to get ready.
It was two in the afternoon when she got home, ate a swift lunch, changed into an outfit she knew she could depend on, and hugged her parents. Then, fingering the key around her neck and taking a deep breath, she transformed into a domestic cat. Her father opened the door for her as she streaked out, an alley cat named Felincia looking for Jerry.
Her mission? Get inside the werewolf mansion again.
She hoped they hadn't run out of warm milk.

[[Yes, big stone ones like sloppy battlements, but strong enought to hold a mini-war against]]

Abby was out the next day, back in the city. She was with Jerry. She was in her wolf form, but being out in the daylight and wagging her tail, smiling at people, they took her for a breed of large dog. Several sopped to pet her on the head.

"Jerry, where did your friend go? I haven't seen her since I let you two go," she asked him.

"Nah, haven't seen her since then either. So how is it you can hear me now?" he looked up at her perplexed.

"A human gizmo that somehow lets me hear. It's hooked onto my human body and works in this one as well," she shrugged as much as a wolf could while walking. "Hey! Is that Felicia?" Abby looked ahead at a cat who was running towards them.

[[Your cat name was Felicia...no n in it >.<]]

Felicia (Felincia's cat form) ran toward the werewolf and Jerry, meowing a greeting. "Hey, you two, wait up!" They stopped to wait for her, and she nuzzled Jerry affectionately. "Hey, cutey." She batted the wolf's paw - with her claws sheathed, unfortunately.
"Sorry it's been a while, guys," she said. "Some humans tried to take me in as an indoor house cat."
"Bunglers,"
Jerry meowed. "How'd you get out?"
"Open window. The smoke alarm had gone off."
"Those irritating high-pitched whining things? Mouse bile, I hate those!"
"So what is there to do?"
'Felicia' asked the wolf politely.
Felincia was never still for an instant. The tracking device embedded in her left-hind paw was slightly uncomfortable, and she found that the more she moved it, the sooner it moved into a firmer and more comfortable position. When the scent-free device was finally secured, she stopped to give her side a quick lick in satisfaction. On some computer, a red dot was signaling her position to the Keepers. Her concoction had been mass-produced, and was being injected now. Injectees would immediately begin their Xedod training. After a couple of days - or weeks - the Xedods would (hopefully) be ready to find her using the device's signal and attack.
Um... it wasn't a plan she was exactly happy with. Thought up too quickly, executed too rapidly. But after the raven fiasco, she was desperate to distract herself.

"Not much at the manor. We have a lot going on and our eyes and ears all over the place have information pouring in. I'm not going to be able to talk to you guys soon. The people that killed my father...they are about to try and attack my pack," Abby explained with a worried look.

"To share a secret, the Keepers, the people who are going to attack, have always scared me. Partly because I was really little when they killed my father. Partly because they are humans that have nudged their way in and killed many of my friends, even my enemies. The Calaways, vampires, are really mean too and hate us, but we have a common enemy right now. They have been quiet, not attacking us. After this battle they will probably send everyone in just to kick us while we're down," she confessed to them. Abby had had nightmares about the keepers and them killing everyone she knew. She had just never admitted it before.

It took all of Felincia's self-control to not feel sorry for the werewolf. Momentarily she imagined her father being murdered because he was something he couldn't help being, and the thought tore her to pieces. Then the small vibration of the signaling device reminded her of what these werewolves had done to the humans, and what they were capable of doing, and what they planned to do. 'They deserve all they get.'
Outwardly she looked sympathetic. She nerved herself to nuzzle the large wolf, and gave her nose a lick.
"Wolves have always been the greatest creatures in these forests," she said. "The humans, ignorant things, cannot live up to your heightened instincts and power. The vampires are too much like humans. Dear one, don't fear."
Then Jerry said something she wanted to kill him for. "If you like, I'll collect the alley cats. We can patrol your borders with you."

Abby barely noticed the false quality to Felicia's words, but she did notice it slightly. "Humans are not ignorant, only fearful. They wish to protect themselves, but by killing my kin. I will not deny them protecting themselves, but I wish to stop them from disallowing me the same privilege.

"Vampires are not like humans either. They are dead returned. A human's stomach would coil at blood in it and cause disturbance while a vampire feels satisfied. Wolves and Vampires have had centuries of fighting. We have discovered much by simply watching them," Abby explained her point of view. She would have been perfectly happy to forgive and forget about the keepers and move on in life, but they kept attacking.

Abby looked down at them. "Keepers are mislead humans, fed on lies about my people and even vampires that have made them dangerous to bot races. I was born over five hundred years ago. Human's technology and weapons have changed, but their crazy ideas have not. They blindly hate. If they would sit down and talk, like the offer I extended many times, then this whole war should have been avoided. Now people will die who should not," she had spoken much and felt better afterward. Keepers weighed heavily on her mind at the moment and although she would kill them if they tried killing her or her people, but she did feel bad.

[[Are we competing to see who can make the other cry first? 'Cause you're winning.]]

Over five hundred years? That was certainly something to consider. She'd have to inform Keeper heads, if she ever got home. Another thing to consider - she had extended peace offers? Why hadn't they heard of this? Surely it would have spread through the secretary gossip line: things that big don't go unnoticed. So was she lying? Or were the Keepers hiding it? Surely there were peaceful ways to deal with these creatures. Boundary treaties, perhaps.
But they had no such treaties. They had a war, and she was playing a role in it.
'Felicia' wiped her face with a paw and looked over at Jerry to see what he had to say. It wasn't much.
Taking matters into her own paws, she decided she could take advantage of Jerry's offer to help the werewolves. Alley cats were loners, so it was likely they'd patrol separately. All she had to do was be on patrol, alone...

"We want to help," she said. "You have been kind to us and our kind. Let us help."

"Thanks so much. Your kindness is immeasurable!" Abby said gleefully. She was so jovial that her new friends were willing to help out and fight creatures that could possibly kill them. Possibly kill them...

"You guys can't fight! What if you get hurt? What if you get killed?" she asked them, looking worriedly. The last thing Abby wanted fro her new friends was for them to be caught in the crossfires.

"Fight? Who mentioned fight?" Felincia asked. "Though, now that you mention it, it's not a bad idea. Still, imagine you're the Keepers trying to raid your most dangerous enemy. Would you pay attention to a domestic cat? Think about it. Besides, if we don't want to be seen, we won't be."

"Then stay out of sight!" Abby instructed them firmly. She would not be able to stand if one of them, any of them, died because of her war. "I can't get into their head so I have no clue what they might pay attention to. Just don't let them hurt any of you," she wanted her friends to be as safe as they could.

Abby turned in the direction of the Mansion. "So, how was your excursion with being a house cat? Enjoy your kitty-kibbles?" she teased Felicia lightly.
