His fist clenched. If it was a case of mistaken identity, any other person wouldn't have shrunk away but faced him. People with nothing to hide didn't hide themselves.
Alex shrugged and turned as if he'd walk away, but the moment his shoulder turned, he recoiled to throw a punch right on Samson's right cheek.
With him stumbling, Alex took his collar and hoisted him to his feet once more, only to throw him back upon the floor, pinned.
"So it is you! Laying hands on my Jess and reeling in Kitty, all in some disguise... show's over, kid."
Alex pulled back with a raised fist to land another blow right at his mouth, but quite suddenly and unexpected in his rage, Kitty had thrown herself right over Samson. She hugged his chest, and did nothing else.
He had come back.

Samson was thrown into shock as he was thrown on the ground. He usually would have recoiled with some punch of his own, but knew he deserved it. What he hated though was how Alex apparantly knew of his former identity as well...
Though what was an even bigger shock, when he braced himself for another strike, was the sensation of warmth...a flutter in his heart told him what it was. Kitty was latched around his waist even after all he had done.
An awkward silence set in as Jess finally got a hold of Alex. She had made a move to stop him form beating the pulp out of Samson, but was honestly slightly afraid. Though once Kitty stepped in she too took her place, resting her handso n his chest and pushing lightly, using one hand to bring his raised arm down. Her eyes pleaded for him to calm down a bit...

Alex did. He took a deep breath and turned himself around from what he had done. Jess was probably ashamed of him, but he was a man that gave his word truly. He said he'd black his eyes, and that is what he did.
Kitty, hearing Alex take a few steps back, raised herself off from Samson and looked at his beaten face. Her eyes went from his, to his bruises, and flicked over to the book that lay on the floor.
It was her book.
Once she realized that, Kitty's face grew pink, and she didn't know what to say or do. All that came from her lips was the obvious.
"You brought my book back."

Jess gave his hand a squeeze, her eyes serious but loving. But now wasnt baout her and Alex, it was about Kitty. She turned to see what Samson's next move was, hearing somehting about Kitty's book....
Kitty's words brought him out of his stupor. "Ah- Y-y-yes..." He stuttered, attempting to stand as he picked up the book, dusted it offn ad handed it to her, making eye contact for a short moment before looking away.
"I u-understand if you never want to see me again..." He took a deep breath and furrowed his brow. "I respect that and dont blame you...I've done you a horrible wrong miss Kitty..." He smiled softly into the floor. "I just...had to do one last thing to make it right before i disappeared...that and to thank you..." He glanced up at her, swallowing hard. He made sure the book was firmly in her grasp before leaning in, his lips brushing her cheek gignerly but quickly as he pulled back red in the face.
"...Thank you for pulling me out of my shadow..." He didnt elaborate, he didnt kiss her again, he didnt even look up. He simply nodded and turned to leave, popping his coat collar up and gingerly touching his face as he made his way towards the door.

Alex watched, too. He was giving her the book back, and blushing like an idiot. Maybe this guy was for real, now that he saw what it was he'd done.
Samson walked past him without a problem, but who shoved him slightly aside was Kitty.
Sam was out the door and walking away, but she was running, and before Alex could advise against it, Kitty had caught Sam around his middle. He was still facing away from her, but she seemed quite determined not to let go at all.
"Thank you," Kitty said. "But... don't go."
Little sentences were all that would come, but they were better than nothing at all.

Samson jumped, his heart in his throat as he froze, hearing her soft plea made him want to choke a bit. "B-but why-" He couldnt seem to form a full sentence either, swallowing hard he tried again.
"I know I've messed up p-pretty bad..." He stared straight ahead, though his hands slipped down to where hers were around his waist. "I...I gave it all up... The book was on the black market....selling for a great, GREAT price that is most liekly 4 or 5 times its original worth...I-..I bought it." He swallowed again, feeling like he should just leave.
"All the money I had ever swindleled or saved up throughout my career...the money I had planned from a foolish teen to live a life of luxury on...I took it all and just..." He clenched his fist.
"I couldnt see you hurt like that Kitty...." He gingerly pulled her hands from him and turned to face her, his hand gently brushing her chin. "You're a beautiful person.... No one's ever been able to touch my heart the way you have and for that I owe you a great deal..." He pushed some of her hair from her face. "But I dont deserve you....or your kindness... I've...I've always been afriad you know..." he furrowed his brow but smiled shyly. "I've been terrified to see who the real me is...afraid I wouldnt like it...or like what life was waiting for me... But you...You pulled the real me out...and I loved it....I loved the feeling of someone...who could like me...as me..." He smiled ina goofy manner before looking away. "...You make me want to try and see what being good ol Sam could be like..." He let his hand fall and took a step back.
"Sam who loves to read but gets antsy after a few chapters....Sam who loves animals more than anything and would love a dog of his own someday...Sam who hates pickles and loves anchovies of all things..." He choked a bit laughing at himself. "Samson...who cares very deeply for a young woman who stands in front of him..." His eyes softened. "And who he knows he really shouldn't be in her life...despite how much that'd kill him..."

Kitty listened to all he had to say without interrupting. He sounded so shaken that it seemed best not to try and put her own words in, but when his own ended, she began thinking of her own dialogue should go.
In all her books, these were times when words counted the most.
"You... were quite an adventure, I'll admit. I mean, Nathan was." It all seemed so silly then, what they had gone through. But here was Sam, and he looked nothing like Nathan did. He was his own person now.
"But I know that the shop getting robbed wasn't your fault. I never blamed you for that. I was just mad and upset, of course... But, I like you. I like Sam. And I'd like it if I got to know you better, and got to put some ice on that black eye just like I said I would a few weeks ago."
As he had taken a step back, she took one forward and held out her hand. "Please?"

Samson swallowed, his eyes solemn as he held her gaze a moment. It then shifted to her outreached hand, then past her to where Alex and Jess stood, jsut outside the shop, making sure things were ok.
He looked back to her hand before taking it gently, a small, soft smile crossing his lips for the first time in ages it felt like...
"I should warn you...I'm not nearly as interesting as Nathan though..." He chuckled, letting her lead him where she may.

But Kitty didn't lead him back into the shop right away. She puled him towards her gently and caught him once more in a hug around his middle, burying her face in the folds of his shirt and coat. Sam... He was Sam, and he was with her once again.
"But you've done all this for me and that says enough about who you are."
Alex cocked his head and rubbed the back of it awkwardly. He had met Jess through fairly normal means... But this? This was just weird.
"Think it's alright?" he whispered to her.

Samson Blushed and smiled. He wrapped one hand around her, the other on the back of her head. And he just smiled...what else could he do?
A beautiful woman was holding him close despite what horrid things he had done, and he wasnt even playing an act...it was all real emotion. It was intimidating but ...nice for him...
Jess was about to tear up. This was like some chick flick ending to her. She slipped her hand into Alex's smiling, though a puzzled smile. "Y-...yeah....Yeah I think it is..." She furrowed her brow, still smiling nad shaking her head. "Come on....we'll give them some privacy..." She whispered back, pulling him gently back inside the store.
Once safely away she turned and kissed him in a gentle yet passionate way. She pulled back, cheeks pink as she attempted to return to her books she was picking up. "You know even though I was a bit...intimidated...You getting all defensive and beating the crap out of him...was kinda a turn on..." She winked jokingly back at him, taping his chest with her finger before picking up the few books she had dropped in the madness.

Kitty pulled back after a moment and laughed. Not at him, but herself for thinking he'd never come back at all.
"Let's go inside and look at that face. He hit you pretty good... and more than once, I see."
Alex ducked in the shop after her just as Kitty was bringing Sam back inside. At Jess' kiss and remark, he grinned mischievously.
"So I'm not in trouble for beating him up?" He should have done it more often. Get out his aggression at having to work so much and at having a creep in front of him.
When Jess was upright again, he caught her around the middle and kissed her, right before Kitty and Sam came back in. He'd behave while they were in the room, but he winked at Jess like the rogue he could be.

Jess giggled like a school girl and pushed him off her when the other two came in, giving him a playful glare. "I didn't say that..." She corrected, setting the books onto a near by table. Though merely smirked and said no more, getting back to work but keeping kitty and Samson in her sights...she'd have to have a one on one talk with this 'sam' character if he did stick around, and if Kitty still wanted to pursue something with him...
Samson though was just realizing how hard Alex had hit him. His face was starting to swell in parts and he winced everytime he blinked. But he said nothing more nad simply let Kitty lead him where she may to fix him up...

Knowing her friends wouldn't like it if she brought him upstairs, Kitty set him in the back room where he could have privacy and a chair to himself.
"Here... don't worry about Alex. He's just very protective." Kitty leaned down to kiss his lips. It was fleeting but sweet. And up she went, to fetch him some ice, like nothing had happened.
Alex understood Jess, and went to distract himself with any chores around the shop. But, he couldn't help but start to feel a little bad (though just the slightest bit) that he'd hit Sam without warning.
That wasn't exactly good fight ethics, to some.
So he went to stick his head in the back room, where he saw Sam sitting.
"Hey uh... I'm not sorry for why I did it, but sorry for hitting you so damn hard," he said, feeling rather stupid.

Samson had his hand over his eye hoping that'd somehow help. He felt strange at Kitty's kiss but calm and strangely happy. When Alex poked his head in, he wanted to laugh, though understood.
"...It's...alright..." He said finding it all very awkward. He had been trying to figure out which persona he had used on Jess and finally remembered. He didnt think he had hurt her that badly...though apparantly with the way Alex reacted he must have. Then again He still didnt know her very well other than the drunk truths she poured out to him. Though she was a beautiful girl and obviously her boy friend knew that... So to him it was all rather shallow and rash...but who was he to judge? He hardly knew any of them other than Kitty...
"I cant say I'm sorry for what I did in the past to other women however..." He added, thinking on it. "Mostly because I'm not the one who hurt them. Samson never laid a finger on them nor whispered any sweet nothing into their ears...it was strictly the character..." He explained as if he were explaining the simple parts of a machine to a child. He didnt mean it condescendingly, nor mockingly, just...honestly. "So I'm...sorry ....for whatever...William I believe it iwas- did...." He shrugged a little bit but winced, his shoulder a little sore from where he hit the ground.
Jess meanwhile was more than a tad curious, as Alex went back to the back room, just making sure he wouldnt get started again. Though she heard him quietly apologize in his own way and smiled, loving how he was indeed protectful yet still gentle and kind, and knew how he went about it was a bit wrong....

"Sounds a little psychotic, but maybe you should tell that to her and not me. But I get what you're saying."
Alex stepped into the room a bit more, but just enough so that he'd still be close by the doorway for when Kitty came down.
"Still... you treat her right. Girl's gotta be nuts to let you in here after all this, but I guess you're alright if you tried to fix things."
He wasn't about to let on that he could get all soft and squishy, because this guy wasn't his mom and he wasn't Jess. He was some creep who took advantage of a friend and seemed sorry for it.
Kitty, though, cut off anything else Alex had to say by coming right in and handing Sam an ice pack. She looked rather concerned and paranoid that Alex would come at him again, but the young man just smiled.
"I'm not going to punch him again. Not unless he messes up." And with that, he left for the main room to see if Jess needed him.
Kitty smiled.
"He's really nice once you get to know him. Are you alright, though?"
